My Rio-L01 Is Back! (CUST version error fixed) - Huawei GX8

Hello friends!
I posted a couple of months that I messed up my rio-l01 cust version number and the phone stopped receiving updates even the service center couldn't fix it and requested to change the main board and I refused.
After thousands of tries, yesterday I managed to restore the phone to its original state (B321) and the phone received the OTA updates normally.. yaaay! I received B330 then B340.
Here are what I've done:
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1- I assume that u have an unlocked bootloader and rooted device.
2- Take a backup of ur pics, videos, contacts, sms,... because the phone will completely reset.
Please be careful! I'm not responsible of any damage might happen to ur device!
Requirements:
1- Unlocked bootloader.
2- Rooted device.
3- Official update package (UPDATE.APP) according to your region and phone model.
4- Computer with ADB and Fastboot drivers installed.
5- Huawei update extractor application.
Steps:
1- Connect ur phone to the pc and copy UPDATE.APP file to the phone.
2- Open Google Play store and search for FLASH FIRE app. Download and install.
3- Open Flash fire app and make sure it gained the root permission.
4- Press the Red + button on the lower right corner and select flash firmware update then browse and select the UPDATE.APP file then select all the partitions available to be flashed.
5- Disconnect the phone from pc and start flashing. Let Flash Fire do the magic. Please read the warnings before u start flashing!
6- After completion, the phone will restart.
7- now, Turn off the phone and start it in the fastboot mode (vol down + power) while connecting the cable.
8- On ur pc, open huawei update extractor and extract boot, recovery and system.
9- open new fastboot command prompt window and do the follow ing commands:
Fastboot -w
Fastboot reboot-bootloader
Fastboot flash boot (path to boot image extracted)
Fastboot flash recovery (path to recovery image extracted)
Fastboot reboot-bootloader
Fastboot flash system (path to system image extracted)
Fastboot reboot
10- Done! Once the phone restart (it will take a while and couple of auto restarts), the phone will start as if new with the setup wizard.
Phone will start receiving updates normally.
Hope this helps...
Peace out ?

I think you can try to do the steps in the main post. This will repair the CUST version. And Make sure that you are using the STOCK recovery not TWRP.

i am so glad that it helped.

Sorry to ask this, but I haven't realized what is that for.
1. Why did you use FLASH FIRE? I mean, what was the purpose of using this? What good does this do to the phone before continuing?
2. Can I start from step 7?
Thanks in advance!

you need stock recovery and stock rom unrooted
I'm rooted, I can't install this update and the notification is really getting on my nerves (I mean REALLY), since I can't get rid of it.
Is there any way to modify the zip so I'll be able to install it?

Unroot, install the update and root again?
Since the update is not changing Android version etc. rooting again after the update should be as easy as initially rooting your phone.
This update adds also a NFC icon onto notification bar if you have NFC enabled. On stock rom you can't remove that icon unless you disable NFC. Annoying!
Hi guys,
Today i have a update Notification:
Software version: 4.18.207.5
is it Normal?

You need only to revert to stock recovery ( & stock rom if dont have it ) but not need to undo root. Then you can install the update.
Useful link: triple w androidauthority.com/one-x-revert-stock-recovery-76854
I followed this instructions and it worked.
1.Download the Fastboot package (Fasboot.zip, 404 kB) and Extract to your computer.
2.Download the stock recovery image for the HTC One X (endeavoru_recovery_signed.img, md5sum: 4af6f2b658d2e13f72e928a72fcde9cd).
-> google will help with this
3. Reboot your phone into Bootloader Mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down the Volume Down key and Power button. Select Fastboot Mode from the bootloader menu and connect your phone to the computer via USB cable.
Open Command Window in the directory (containing fastboot and endeavoru_recovery_signed.img)
4. To confirm that your phone has successfully made a connection with your computer, type this command at the command prompt window and press Enter afterward:
fastboot devices
If the phone’s serial number is shown on the screen, then the device has successfully connected with your computer. Otherwise, your computer is unable to communicate with the phone.
5.To flash the stock recovery image to your phone, type the command below and press Enter afterward:
fastboot flash recovery endeavoru_recovery_signed.img.
6. Once installation is complete, reboot your HTC One X with the following command:
fastboot reboot
7. Now you are ready to install the update.

You could back up any important information you had, format the phone and then sideload either the stock firmware (available from Asus) or the pre-rooted images available here.

Just hard reset or complete wiping of cache, dalvik, data, root and then reload the stock/pre-rooted ROM?
It's what I would try.
Download these, if you don't have them:
Intel USB Driver
ADB & Fastboot Tool
and either stock ROM from Asus or
if you prefer, the same latest ROM pre-rooted from here. Make sure you have the ROMS in your platform-tools folder of the adb/fastboot tool you downloaded.
Once you have everything you need:
Restart your phone and hold volume up to enter fastboot/bootloader.
Test the connection from your pc adb/fastboot terminal by typing: fastboot devices. You should see numbers and device listed. If not, double check your driver installation and try again. Once the connection's established,
Enter the following fastboot commands:
fastboot format system
fastboot format cache
fastboot format data
Once completed, you have two methods to install the ROM of your choice. You can unzip the pre-rooted rom and install each partition individually. Note, you need to unzip system.img into the folder with the other img's. Once again, be sure to copy these img's to the platform-tools folder of the adb/fastboot tool. These fastboot commands are:
fastboot flash fastboot droidboot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
Once completed, use the volume selection menu to do a normal boot into Android, and setup from there.
Alternatively you could sideload the Asus ROM from adb in recovery. To do this, use the volume selection menu to do a reboot into recovery mode. In recovery, select install update from ADB. In your adb/fastboot terminal type:
adb devices (to check connection)
adb sideload (either drag and drop the ROM or enter the /path)
Once it loads, reboot into system, and setup from there.
Please do research this and make sure this is what you want to do. I hope this helps.
Edit: I know these instructions can be found elsewhere, but I couldn't in good conscience advise someone to wipe their phone and not help them. I'd never ask someone else to do something I wouldn't do.
Thanks a ton mate

This saved me instead of sending back the phone rto newegg after a failed cache format.
Repped!!!
I have folowed all step successfuly but reboots are still there, i can't do **** about them, mostly happen installing / updating apps and playing games, sometime it's just random, listening music.
more ideas about why it's happen?
I have recently had a spate of random reboots. Thought it was flip cover causing problem, still the same. Its the 32Gb, 4Gb ram, 1.8mhz model.
Phone is stock, all updates applied and problem happening much more after last update, 22.

If you have been using the phone as an ordinary consumer, I would suggest to get a replacement if that's within your entitlement. Just my personal opinion.

Anyone get a random shutdown with the 2.19.40.20 firmware? Happened to me overnight/this morning, at 98 to 96% charge. First time this has happened with this device.
No last_kmsg to share, so will keep a watch on it for now...
Edit: happened a second time, this afternoon. Maybe I will upgrade to 2.19.40.22, or at least install TWRP to see if I can grab a last_kmsg (if I can find it) to see what's going on..

Yes, good advice ! Unfortunately I bought it in Hong Kong at the beginning of April. It has had no problems, seems like the last update upset something. Maybe 5.1 will do me a favour . . . .

If you have not tried resetting the phone, it may be worth a try, though painful to start setting up all over again. You can try using the stock ASUS back up app to do your back up..

I am on 22 and have random reboots as well?
I had 2 random reboots on the 2gb/16gb version, but I think it was USB cable related. I'd plug the phone into the car and do something fast and then lock it, POOF! Reboot. It hasn't happened in awhile though and I believe I did an OTA update afterwards.

[TUTORIAL] Complete Guide on How to Flash English Rom to China Local Huawei Watch

You could have been frustrated with all the features that’s supposed to be in your New Huawei Watch is nowhere to be found. Like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Language Selection are all hidden in the China Stable Rom of the Huawei Watch.
I have talked to the CSR of Huawei in China, they honestly told me that the Wi-Fi certificate for the watch is not yet certified that’s why they cannot unleash it yet but it is embedded inside the watch should future updates allows the Wi-Fi to be used. Regarding the language selection, local China release is locked to Simplified Chinese, whether you like it or not.
If you happen to buy from China or received a gift with a China local release Huawei Watch, here is the guide on how to flash with an English Rom which I have already tested mine on.
Here is the complete guide:
Step 1: Put the Watch to Fastboot Mode
1) Hold down the power button
2) The screen will go black for about 2 seconds and then boot into the Huawei logo. Keep holding down the power button.
3) Wait for the first vibration, release the power button and then immediately give the power button one short press.
Note: If you feel the second vibration, you waited too long to do the release and press. Start over again with Step 1.
Another alternative for Step 1:
1.) Install ADB SETUP V1.3
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_1zjuazXSqbQ0p6NWtvRk9OMzA/edit
2.) Enable ADB and connect to computer
How to Enable ADB:
- Go to About
- Click 5 times on Build Number to access Developer Mode
- Go to Developer Options
- Enable ADB Debugging
3.) Go into command prompt mode
4.) Reboot watch into Fastboot mode using this code:
adb reboot-bootloader
Step 2: Unlock the Bootloader
1.) On command prompt mode, type this command: Fastboot Oem Unlock
2.) accept the prompt on the watch.
Note: If successful, command prompt will say your bootloader is already unlocked.
Step 3: Flashing
Download first the three files before proceeding:
Boot Img: https://mega.nz/#!rgRQHRrb!lgQCvqH-qkuqitPRRXfCad29MdmJ6ynaUHJDr0hjeLM
Recovery Img: https://mega.nz/#!ahgjxA4R!y8Hb0CBVBRwUr0tA3HeFrrqh0ALAiMyqJu0pLsBsAD8
System Img: https://mega.nz/#!2pYVBDpA!wQJT8LDcffk7uxEmrsqna6MKWIODD-FqBO_k4Poml7g
After downloading the three files, lets proceed:
1.) While on Fastboot mode, type this on the command prompt one at a time:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
2.) and then go to recovery and do a wipe data / factory reset.
Congrats! Your done!
Further Reading if you are stuck on flashing System.img
There are some reason beyond my explanation why the system.img cannot be flashed to the watch, here is the workaround:
1.) First of all download the TWRP and fastboot boot it:
TWRP download: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3505656&d=1444766757
Code:
fastboot boot TWRP2.8.7.0-Sturgeon.img
2.) Now your watch is in TWRP and you can no longer use ADB commands, go to your watch and select Advanced, then select ADB Side Load
3.) Going back to command prompt, push the system.img in the sdcard so:
Code:
adb push system.img /sdcard/
4.) Now flash it:
Code:
adb shell dd if=/sdcard/system.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system
5.) Reboot.
Now you may encounter bootloop after flashing which I did, go back to Step 1 Fastboot mode and select Reboot Recovery, then wipe data and then clear cache, then you are good to go!
This is the most complete guide I can come up with based on my own explorations. Hope this helps.
Where can i find the drivers for this watch.

"Fastboot Oem Unlock" should be "fastboot oem unlock" otherwise it won't work. Also make sure to have ADB 1.0.32 at least for watches!

5.) Reboot.
Now you may encounter bootloop after flashing which I did, go back to Step 1 Fastboot mode and select Reboot Recovery, then wipe data and then clear cache, then you are good to go!
Hi, first of all thanks for this awesome guide.
This is the first thing I am looking for after bought a Chinese watch from China.
Manage to go through ONLY I tried key in "fastboot oem unlock' all in small letters.
Then follow the guide instruction to goto recovery to wipe data after successfully go through the other flashing steps smoothly.
This is where I got stuck in infinite looping in Android lying and screen flashing every few seconds. I got panicked after trying multiple times failed to recover from this symptoms for a while.
Until finally manage to pull back to fastboot menu by keep press holding onto the power button. The steps of holding till first vibration then do a quick short press doesnt work.
I am glad that now I am back to normal with the English screen.
Next I will proceed to flash the TWRP and 1.4 update.
Hopefully everything goes smoothly.
Thank you for the guide once again and wish everyone success in updating and Enjoy!
Update: (9:29am)
Did a system update. Before was something like LBC49A, after system update it becomes LBC43B. I suppose this is 1.4 update as the name is the same.
Hence decided not to flash the TWRP recovery for the time being if it can continue auto system update.
Update (9/3/2016):
Sorry, nvr read through all the posts. Was thinking that (LBC43B) was the latest update.
So proceed to flash TWRP recovery then try to update to MEC23L (latest update) but failed to run "adb sideload update.zip"
Every time once enter into Recovery mode, the connection dropped. Then tried to do OTA update by factory reset as suggested but failed (confirmed my location can OTA as one use from same location didi it.)
This morning went back to PC flash back the original Stock Recovery from here.
Restart the watch and goto System Update, receive message "Charge the watch to update to MEC23L"
My thot - OTA only allow with Stock Recovery?
Update done but still cannot sms. ??
Btw, for LBC43B, many functions cannot work properly like sms, call and no sound at all. Thx n Enjoy.
P.S. Using Minimal ADB and Fastboot, PDAnet driver(for watch USB driver), running on Win7, connect via watch USB charge docking station.
help me please
No OS installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?

Hi, I have a problem, when I do this :
"select Advanced, then select ADB Side Load" after 4 or 5 minutes processing it saids "failed"
and then I can do this step "adb push system.img /sdcard/"
but not this "adb shell dd if=/sdcard/system.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system"
Any idea please, thank you.

Hello,
I'm also encountering this error. I did try the first method, and I'm getting stuck on activating ADB Side Load. Any tips?
Hi, there's a problem and i can't mount partition /data and /cache
plz help
Thanks a lot man you are a gem
I in hurry formatted system from twrp and was without OS. very detailed tutorial for beginners with adb. I am back with watch booting fine now
Just a note. I tried doing this while in China without vpn access for my phone. This made it so I couldn't sync up or pair because it kept trying to access google which was blocked. Once I got back to Canada I was able to do everything and update to newest OTA. If you leave it on chinese rom you can use in china and pair with the Android Wear China version app.

Not sure if he got back to you. I had the same problem, and it involved the system.img that I downloaded from the link above. It wasn't complete for some reason. On this thread attached, it has a zip that has it all. My watch works fine now. I want to thank the OP here for showing me the steps to take. You all ROCK!

You can extract the UPDATE.APP from the zip file and create a dload folder with the UPDATE.APP in it and copy it to the SD card. I believe your recovery is stock so power off your phone, power on the phone while holding VOL+ & VOL-. You will see emui recovery and it will install the UPDATE.APP from the SD card. Once finish just reboot your phone.
if you have TWRP install, you may have to flash the phone with the original recovery image first. Extract the required "RECOVERY.img" from an original "UPDATE.APP" file using the Huawei Update Extractor and then flash it using fastboot:
Enable developer mode and connect via USB
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
Reboot
Then, created a "dload" folder on your SD card and placed the original "UPDATE.APP" inside. Unplug USB (important!) and reboot while holding Vol+ & Vol-. This should install the original firmware from your SD card. You will lose all your data!
Finally, you can lock your bootloader:
Enable developer mode and connect via USB
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem relock <YourPersonalUnlockCodeHere>
Reboot

Thank you very much for your response, I will review this information this weekend and see if it works for me.
Dear, try to run the update by the process of volume up and down to take from the SD but it was impossible, I still throw the error.
I wanted to ask if you know how to unlock the bootloader to be able to do it by ADB and watch videos on YouTube and try different bootloader unlocking processes but did not serve.

Did you get your unlock from Huawei website? If not then register an account here
Once you're registered, login to your account and go to this site and click on unlock. scroll down and tick the agreement and click next.
Insert all the required details and proceed. you will get your unlock code. Save the code and keep it incase your need to relock your bootloader.
make sure you have enable USB debugging and enable oem unlock, then connect your phone to PC. In Adb type adb reboot bootloader to boot to fastboot mode. when in fastboot mode in adb type fastboot oem unlock *unlock code*
My problem is that I can not start the S. O, this with fail and I can not do the OEM authorization from it, if not already had it unlocked easier from the same android entering the code that I have.
I need to know if there is any way to unlock the bootloader to be able to enter the code ADB, the problem is that when you login to bootloader is locked, I need to find the way to unblock it without having to enable the debugger and OEM that I'm not Being able to enable it because the system does not work.
Since without this I am seeing that the ADB does not start me. It throws me error when running the FastBoot
