Short list for now, but people should add... Maybe give the devs some ideas of stuff to make and submit.
1. Comm Manager - I hate having to goto 5 spots to turn stuff off and on when i dont need it. (3g while at home with my wi-fi, no thanks)
2. Ring Profile - Like NightMode or WorkMode... nice and quick to swap out Tones and Volume levels.
If there is any dev that would like to pick my brain on features and stuff, feel free to PM me.
Everyone else submit your thoughts and ideas...
I would lik an easy to use SMS backup, or record to calendar utility.
I could definitely use a tile that toggles the data connection ON and OFF with a single click. The same goes for the WiFi connection.
Yes - +1 for a live tile to toggle wifi on/off
Also, some kind of 'handsfree' app that will set the phone to auto answer calls and turn on speaker phone (for use in car etc)
SSH client...
Wish List for Apps
1. WP7 Taks List that syncs with Outlook Task
2. File Explorer app that allows me to manual copy files into WP7 or out from WP7, nevermind if it's a separate storage aread away for the system stuff, i just need to use some of the 16GB hanging on the phone that I can use easily...
3. Any App that allows me to read right managed emails...
1. tcpmp player and the ability to add .avi files so I don't have to convert them. (if there is a way to play them without converting please let me know, I download a lot of tv shows through graboid and like to watch them on my phone.
2. psx emulator with bt syncing capability to either a wii remote or ps3 remote.
3. phone number blocking program
Multimessenger (ICQ, JABBER, Live!)
I would like a call manager program like Magicall for WM6. It filters phone calls and SMS's through a user-defined rule set. Not sure if WP7 is even capable of this yet, given the multitasking setup it currently has.

I second this man. Also a port of CallCalendar and something to record calls.
We are getting some nice ideas going, just hoping we have some devs reading this that would be willing to tackle these requests and make some people happy (and some cash for the effort)
some of these aren't possible on the platform yet, but keep them coming

Alarm Snooze Duration = Good Suggestion
Stuff on Home Screen You Mentioned: Pin Settings. Not like there is much in there, anyways. They need to add a LOT more settings. Sorry, but what's there is woefully inadequate. Even a casual consumer can get frustrated by the lack of common-sense exposed in the OS.

1. NO.
2. Desperately needed. Double tap for Notification cache, or maybe a Notifications Live Tile that you can click to get to the Notification Cache is needed.
3. Ringtones coming. Backgrounds are useless because on the homescreen you wouldn't see them, and in the app list they can potentially make the text unintelligible. There's no reason to want backgrounds, IMO. They're a waste due to the way the UI is designed. Lockstyles, like what? Pattern Lock? I believe Password and PIN code are there already, no?
4. Better menus are desperately needed. More functionality needs to be exposed, and it needs to be exposed cleanly. Android apps that have common functionality in the main menu with a "More" Option are a good example on how to implement decent menus (Google's Apps on Android do this).
5. Don't see a need, but I guess everyone has a favorite colors they want their tiles to be.
6. Don't understand what you mean by this, Lol. The OS already animates a bit too much IMO and it would be nice to have an option to turn the animations off in the system...

No. There are technically reasons why I say no, but I really don't wanna get into it. The default keyboard is really good and they should spend time trying to improve it in the ways that it can be improved instead of worrying about some third party keyboards (plus, we don't want 1000 of those cluttering the marketplace like Android - that goes for Alternative UIs as well).
To your list I'll add:
Bing Voice Navigation
Video MMS
Ability to Send Video in Emails

I'm not thinking closed-minded. I'm thinking that right now, my wp7 works flawlessly (mostly). It's smooth as silk (and I maintain that a smooth UI is far and away the NUMBER ONE most important thing to have). What I'm thinking is adding all these options makes it a bloatfest like windows mobile was, and what Android is.

I think you're missing the point. As Apple has done with iOS, Microsoft wants every Windows Phone to be instantly recognizable by its consistent Metro UI. I can see how some options to adjust the UI could be implemented, but the ability to replace the core appearance and behavior with an alternate will not happen.
That is what I think people are trying to say. Basically, if you are looking for an environment with a user-replaceable home screen/launcher, then WP7 is the wrong place to be looking.

My WP7 does work pretty smooth about it and that is one thing I like about it...so I see what you mean about bogging it down -but not ALL of those will bog it down, some are actualy good features/functions with nothing to do with looks...so there may have to be a middle ground, if that is the case...?
I believe if they are added in an efficient way then it should be fine...possibly by selecting a choice few... or on/off switches could be used (i.e. if you do not use all of the customizeable features which may slow down your phone - turn that whole section off etc...)
All in all...I believe there are definate changes which should be made to WP7 and there are some nice changes which could be made...
this is just meant to be about compiling a list of both...but your arguments for one or the other are welcome as well...

I get what you mean. That is a point (about the Metro UI being a core recognizable element)...but just denying the ability that users demand will amount to those users either constructing their own means or moving on....I do not intend to be part of the latter ...
so while MS may not be the ones to add the feature... the idea is up there for the possibility for someone to take on a project of such....
either way I think it fits this list well because it is an idea for a feature (whether you may think it is good/bad possible/ or not is an opinion...so don't mind if I still leave it up there anyways k? haha)
@'n8' ..... backgrounds while in your opinion may be useless...I believe it would be a nice addition instead of having a black or white background all the time -pleasing to the eye I guess you could say...?
any ways - a background is meant to be just that, an image in the background (i.e. behind ...behind things like documents and widgets...) so I think it would be a nice idea -then maybe they could add an option to change tile transparency etc....

HD7 unlocked
Hello. I just discovered a strange thing and I don't know how to get rid of it. So i was adding some music and I deployed "Sound enhancer" and after that my phone grouped all my apps in menu like it is done in people tab. So i have a huge letter above all my apps which makes my menu longer and it takes more time to find an app. It also doesn't look eyecandy. So i want you to ask how to get rid of those letters and bring my menu back to normal state.
Regards
okey~
It's not a bug, it's a feature. After a cetain amount of apps this is added to your menu. When you touch on one of the letters in the menu it will bring up a screen of letters. Touch on one of these and it will take you to those apps starting with the corresponding letter. This was added to reduce scrolling when you have a large amount of apps. If you do not like it I believe that uninstalling enough apps to bring you below the limit will disable the feature.
I know how it works. But is there no way to bring it back without uninstalling apps?
Not sure it goes away even if you uninstall apps.

Nope.
Surely it makes scrolling faster, not longer? For example, rather than scrolling all the way down to, say, 'Skype'...two taps and you are there in the 'S' section..
Either way, it cannot be disabled (except perhaps if you are fully unlocked, and edit the registry?)

You are right, and think only a fool might want to disable it! I purposefully installed 4 apps more that I won't ever use just to get those indexed letters on!

It gets better - say find "whatever address"
It will give you directions also (right above the web search)
or find "Store name" it will show that store closes to you.
and try find "movie name"
It will show theaters near you playing the movie
and find "weather in san fransisco" for example will show 5 day forcast via bing in websearch
Then find an iphone user that has siri and show him opening apps. Siri doesn't do that yet i use find flashlight all the time to use htc flashlight. it auto comes on when the app opens and it great for opening car or house door in the dark
enjoy!
I just found out about a feature called "Private Mode" and I wanted to share with my friends on XDA that may not be aware of this awesome feature. I store pictures and videos on my phone that may be questionable in nature. In the past I've been using a third party app like SafeGallery to make sure my reputation is not ruined by someone accidentally running into one of these questionable media types on my phone. There is actually a built-in feature on the phone that can accomplish this goal -- namely, "Private Mode". You can go into the Quick Settings from the notification menu and toggle this mode. Then you choose a picture or video that you would like to make private and it will no longer be visible unless you are in private mode. Just like Smart Unlock this is a great baked-in solution that eliminates the need for another third-party app.
Here is an article about Private Mode: http://www.androidcentral.com/understanding-private-mode-samsung-galaxy-s6
private mode is awesome!!! i also have videos and photos that i store in there, but you can store a lot more in there and i love that you can open those pics and stuff very easy and then when you lock your phone again they are hidden once again. now one nice thing is that if someone tries to find your private folder its also hidden. what it seems to do is make a sudo sd card and when you enable private mode it mounts the private sd card in a since. i have to say this is one of many of my favorite features of this phone. you can use this to hide a lot of files and even folders if needed/wanted.
Thanks for making a thread about this i honestly didnt know people wouldnt know about this feature.
When was this feature added? I had the Note3 for 2 years and have never heard of this. Would have been a shame if it was there the whole time.

:fingers-crossed: Does anyone know if there's a way to privatize any of your conversations in the default messaging app? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Plz & Thnx!

How do I use it?
Always make sure you are using the latest Google Dialer beta from the Play Store to enjoy the latest features
Allow root access to GoogleDialerMod, apply the tweaks you want, then force close Google Dialer app and reopen it a couple of times for them to take effect
There is no need to keep GoogleDialerMod installed after applying the desired mods, because they (should) survive Google Dialer updates / reinstalls over time
How does it work?In every Android device there is a database, called Phenotype.db, managed by Google Play Services, containing special flags that affect the behavior of all Google applications installed.
Some of those flags concern Google Dialer core functionalities, while others are about hidden or upcoming features not yet released.
What this app does is execute SQLite queries on that database and overwrite Google Dialer configuration files to enable or alter its features at will.
Current features:
Supports arm / arm64 / x86 / x86_64 devices and (hopefully) all Android versions
Enable / disable hidden features for all users at once when Android "multiple users" mode is in use
Force enable call recording feature even on unsupported devices or in unsupported countries
Enable also automatic call recording feature based on caller (otherwise only available in India)
Via the call history in the Dialer, you can listen to all the recordings, in an organized way, as each audio is already matched to its respective call in the GUI:
Furthermore, by opening the individual recordings, it is possible to share them using the apposite button:
Among the sharing options, there is also the possibility of copying the file to a folder of your choice:
Silence the annoying "registration has started / ended" call recording sounds
Force enable call screening and revelio (advanced automatic call screening) even on unsupported devices or in unsupported countries
And much more coming soon
Troubleshooting:
After enabling / disabling any switch, please force close and reopen the Google Dialer app a couple of times. You may also need to reboot for the changes to take effect.
Before to report an issue try to delete Google Dialer app data, to reboot your phone and to try again what didn't work

Thanks for the work on this, works like a charm!
Thank you! It worked after a few force closes and reboots
Thanks for the share, now i don't need to call back people to ask what they said again haha
Nice, but where is the recording? I can't seem to find it. Yes, I've looked. Giving me the option to delete the recording, but not play...
Edit. Nevermind. On recent calls list, there will be a microphone next to name. Tap name, then play. I figured a file would show up, but apparently it's saved as app data

Google Dialer by default saves the call recording audio files in the /data/data/com.google.android.dialer/files/callrecording path.
Can be listened or deleted from historical call or recents calls

Doesn't work if "Silence call recording alerts" is enabled.
And even if disabled, records only when manually turned on (no auto-recording)
It doesn't work for me. Tried everything with also with newest beta. I'm on nameless rom (aosp) but can't record calls.
Don't use Beta, on beta doesn't seem to work

Thank you very much for the thread.
The call recording works for me but the recording notification is heard, how can I delete the notification?

Back to stable and reboot and still an error trying to record.
in the stable version of Google dialer it works perfectly. I have had to open and close the mod many times until it has worked. Now Resists restart. thank you very much for the thread.
The original thread for this mod is https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/mod-root-googledialermod.4330055/
I won't monitor this one.
