Hello!
(Before start, please, ignore any english errors, i'm brazilian and i'm writing in english now)
When i try to set up my LIFX lights (or any other Google Assistant accessories), the Android send a command to "open Google permission URL" on the On Screen Browser. But, the new On Screen Browser on Moto Z2 (It is like a big PIP on the center of the screen, and works like a separated browser) are not returning the SUCESS message from Google website for Assistant app (It simply try to open the message like a URL). When i close the browser using the CLOSE button (or the back button on the phone), the Assistant just turn back to the inicial set up screen...
How can i turn off this browser, or come back to the old browser (like on the Moto Z 2016)?
Thanks in Advance!

I use htc messaging for sms and i would to rotate automaticly in landscape with the g sensor.
the problem is if I use app to autorotate with g sensor (flip it, changescreen, gyrator....), it rotate also the home screen and all the manila because it has the same windows name (Manila).
so is there a solution to rotate only the htc messaging, renaming its windows for example or other solutions?
it would be very useful for me because i like to have the landscape keyboard when writing sms.
thanks
If you go to your Message-Tab and select New Message, the process will have another name. if you add this to changescreen it will allow you to write textmessages in landscape.
but if you choose reply it will be the manila one which will not be rotatet. so everytime you write a message you have to choose it as new message. thats the way i did it. runs like a charm now on my touch hd with htc messaging. still annoying that it wouldnt rotate when you choose reply, but at least i can write in landscape.
i solved it with changescreen. it will show you the appname while you are about to write a new message.
hope it works for you to.
ok thanks, but it's really annoying because i like to see the sms in wich I reply, I want use the threaded mode that allow the htc messaging app.
anyone for another solution?
unfortunately, there's no solution for that at this point.
GSen
i use the application GSen
put this app in your startmenu
everytime you get a sms or mail
click first on gsen at the starmenu
then on you message
now you phone will switch in landscape mode if you want
The only way I have found to type messages in landscape while not affecting manilla ( the dialler rotating is very annoying) is to do a manual rotation when in messaging mode by long pressing the dial button.
To enable this go to Settings ... Personal ... Buttons ... Button 1 , then assign Rotate Screen from drop down list at bottom.
Then when you are replying to text just press and hold dial button and it will go into landscape and keyboard works ok this way , when done just long press to exit landscape.
for me anyway it doesn't work (green letter suggestions) on google search widget, on internet, or on market search. Does work on email, 3Banana app and messaging.
Is that how others find it?
Keyboard
That seems to be the default behaviour of the stock keyboard. Try searching and installing the HTC_ime keyboard as it has more configurable options including the one you want!

Install this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=663608
You have option to enable that predictive text on search input, etc.
It is the same as the stock keyboard, but much more features
I have installed it, but can't get it to "select" eg "long press on any text input field" as the install instructions thread says to do.
As in hold my finger on the input box? Does nothing.
As in hold a key? That just toggles it.

There is a little microphone on my keyboard in messaging but when i go to webbrowser it goes away... How do i use it in my web browser?
Running Gummy 1.2.0 with gapps
Speech in Browser
It should still be there.
Here is where you'll find it
1) You can enter URLs by speech if you tab the URL bar and click the microphone icon.
2) On the Google keyboard it'll be on the left hand side
3) If you're using swipe it'll be on the lower right
4) Lastly, if you long hold down in the entry box you can choose the speech input method from your notification bar (not entirely intuitive)
I hope that helps.
any way to install google legacy keyboard? I'm pretty happy with the stock one but if I activate dot and comma key the spacebar became outragiously small (despite che enter and number key, enormous)... So:
- how to resize the spacebar?
- how to install google keyboard? Play store says it's not compatible
I'm not interested in fancy swipekeyboard and so on... I just want a simple keyboard :|

There is an APK for the new google Keyboard. Maybe you try it and give a feedback. :fingers-crossed:

NOTE:: IT'S NOT A CLICKBAIT POST, TO HELP YOU REMAP THE GOOGLE ASSISTANT BUTTON IN MOTOROLA, NOKIA DEVICES
Check the "sample video" posted below
That can be possible only if the manufacturer allows that button to be remappable through a software update
BTW
THIS TUTORIAL IS REGARDING REMAPPING OF "SWIPE UP GOOGLE ASSISTANT GESTURE"
STEPS are down below
I have attached a video tutorial as well
1)Install "Assist Mapper" attached in this post below
or download the app from the play store using this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=amirz.assistmapper
2) Open the app
3) tap on the first option "default digital assistant app"
4) you will see, 3 options will be available
None
Assist Mapper
Google
by default "google" is already selected
But we need to change that to assist mapper, so tap on "Assist Mapper"
5) A disclaimer will pop up, reminding about privacy
tap "ok"
6)NOW, an important step
go back by tapping the back arrow on the top left side
again tap on the back arrow
then you will be directed to a page
7)This is the list of apps installed on your device
Search the app of your preference and select
NOTE: the search bar results will be confusing
But you need to select the app which is titled in BOLD Letters
For example: Search "camera"
you will find multiple camera apps with different directories
Select the one which is in BOLD letters, as in the "IMAGE 1"
you are done
NOTE: this will not remap your dedicated google assistant button
_To return back to google assistant
_just press the dedicated assistant button
_you will be asked to set the assistant button to google assistant instead of the assistant mapper selected before
Thanks
This is incredibly useful!
Do you know if it is possible to map the back button to the assistant gesture?
are you talking about the navigation arrow key
the back button?
if yes
then I am sorry I don't know how to do that
checkout custom ROM post
nice post btw
do you know if this can be mapped to open/access quick settings?
Hi, do you know how to do this after android 12 ? Seems that this button is physically wired to open only google assist, no other apps work, even after being selected as the default assistant apps
