I use Adguard as an ad blocker, and it run in background.
Since I upgraded to Oreo (stable, OTA), I've got a persistent notification from "Android system" telling me that my app is running in background.
I can't get rid of it, and it's pretty annoying. Do you you experience same thing? Any idea how to hide that notification?

Grant notifications access and reboot. This app works pretty good.

How to Hide the “App is Running in the Background” Persistent Notification on Android Oreo
I sent adguard an email and they said they are aware of the problem and they are working to fix it. I also noticed my battery life got much better when I disabled adguard. So I think adguard is having a few problems with Oreo.

Complete Edit:
These can now be hidden with AutoNotification v3.0 (purchase required past 7 day trial):
1) Launch the AutoNotification app
2) Click Notification Blocking
3) Click the +
4) Choose "Android System"
5) In the Filter Title field, type:
Code:
running in the background
For multiple notifications from Android System, check the Regex box and then type (for example):
Code:
(running in the background)|(displaying over other apps)

what issues are you having because i havent noticed any battery drop at all with O and adguard or any issues from it outside the persistent notification .
In the shade you get a persistent notification about battery usage with apps that are running in the background that are not Oreo friendly. When I had Adguard enabled it was using 25% of battery or more according to the battery settings. I know it it always looks like adguard uses a lot, but this was more than Nougat by a long way. I disabled it and battery usage was much better. Locked bootloader locked, stock, play store phone, Verizon sim. Also, never beta took update when it rolled out OTA.

Hello,
Every once in a while I get the Yelp! sponsored ad on the lock screen. I've tried turning it off from the Settings of the Blinkfeed (as I saw it supposedly worked with previous HTCs) but it doesn't on the 10. Anyone know the answer to my question?
Thanks,
Marius
I've never once had ads on my lockscreen. You must have some bad app that's sending you ads via notifications.

Not sure if you have it but es file explorer will cause ads on the lock screen with its own quick charge screen. Haven't had any since I uninstalled it.
I already turned off 'interest based ads' from Settings>Personalize>Manage Ads. By the way, I use the Google Now Launcher, so the Manage Ads option only shows when I have Sense Home selected as the default launcher. I'm still getting yelp ads in the lock screen.

Maybe, because I'm not using the Sense Home launcher, the OFF setting for the Interest based ads is not sticking?
It drives me nuts and I don't see that on the Verizon version. Something Verizon probably removed so you can't turn it off... So annoying

That app recently had an update that had some lock screen bs included. Had a battery icon on it and all.
There's another app I had a couple months back that did the same thing too. If you have sense apps ads disabled , it's likely an app that turned spammy.
Sent from my HTC6545LVW using Tapatalk
Its definitely not from the stock software. My wife had the same thing happen last week on her note. It took a while but found out it was PIP software for taking selfies. Here is a great article that should help get rid of them. http://www.slashgear.com/android-ads-on-your-lockscreen-and-how-to-destroy-them-05438921/. It lists some common sources for these ads:
• Amber Weather Widget
• ES App Locker
• GO apps (of note: GO Weather, GO SMS, GO Keyboard, Next Browser)
• Kingo Root
• KittyPlay Wallpapers, Ringtones
• TouchPal apps (TouchPal makes multiple keyboard apps)
• Xender (file transfer app)
• Zero Team apps (of note: Z Camera)
The yelp and restaurant ads are because you enabled personalization in sense home. It's tracking your location and usually offering restaurants nearby.

check on blinkfeed settings>manage adds>turn off internet based ads. thought i read somewhere that caused lock screen ads too.
I figured it out, no thanks to Verizon IT. It's a google ad. Go to your chrome browser. Click on the three dots, Settings, Site Settings, Cookies, uncheck "allow third-party cookies" box. BOOM!
I just started getting the exact same kind of ads! Cannot find any information on the Internet about how to eliminate them.
Some flashlight apps throw ads like that, have you got a flashlight app?

I've been using Solid Explorer since ES started with all of that junk, maybe a year ago or so...? I did try the Chrome suggestion from above (the third party cookies tick box) and so far so good. Thanks to all for all of the posts! Much appreciated!
I was wondering what kind of xposed modules people use with the HTC 10. I'm currently using N-Ify, XNotifications, Amplify, and Greenify. I'm looking for some other cool modules that go well with the HTC 10.

It takes a little while to boot up after flashing the framework. It also has to re-optimize the apps which takes 15ish mins.
I flashed the v85 framework from here: http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/sdk23/arm64/

Whoa! I didn't know that there was a systemless Xposed! Is there any difference in performance? Also, how well does Gravity Box work with Sense?
No difference AFAIK
GravityBox works mehmeh.
A lot of features work fine. Some other halfway, some not at all.
Just test it out
Followed the recommendations here and I love it. This is my first time using the Xposed Framework and I will never go back without it. I am using the Android N-ify and I was wondering if there was a way to rearrange the icons?
[EDIT]
Installed GravityBox and found the feature I needed.

Tested it for about a day. Really like how the little tweaks work with Sense. I'm so glad HTC isn't customizing android as heavily as other manufacturers anymore
Xposed just stopped working out of the blue all of a sudden, saying " Xposed framework version 85 is installed, but not active. Please check the logs for details."
I have been running Xposed perfectly fine on my HTC 10 for the past couple weeks, zero issues whatsoever, running perfect. I am on LeeDroid ROM, just run several typical modules with no problems; like Amplify, Greenify, YouTube AdAway, etc...
Well I just went to try out new mod to me, NotifyClean, installed it, rebooted, and played around a bit with it, didn't really like it, so I uninstalled it. Then rebooted, and it came back saying Xposed no longer active. I rebooted to Recovery again, flashed my Xposed zip, which is the latest one from May 28, rebooted, and again still saying Xposed not active.
I use YouTube AdAway, YouTube Background Playback, and Zoom for Instagram.
I'd love to try Android N-ify, but it doesn't work for me on Viper10.
All notifications expanded

Hi! I'm also using N-ify on mine but the sun icon on the brightness slider is partially overlapped by the time and date panel. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this?

Is there any module that allows changing to a 5x5 grid layout on screen?

Me too but it looked like on mine it was causing the phone not to enter doze at all.
I don't have a 1+3 but am curious. With the OxygenOS 3.5.2 community build, there is a new feature which adds "kill all background processes". Is this the same functionality that Greenify offers?
Has anyone run across issues with the MobileIron SecureApps module not being found after previously working just fine on the most recent OxygenOS Beta 13?
Yes, Mine is constantly losing configs, saying its not registered but works again when a force check in is done.
You know how your work has the config set up? I just finished deploying for our work environment using android enterprise and it is working flawlessly with exception of a few add-on launchers. I run several different ROMs and it works on all of them.

I am not sure. Now that I am on OOS Beta 19 it only seems to happen much less frequently. I have found you can just go to the Secure Apps app, it will prompt you for your password, and that this is enough to get the other apps (Mail, Calendar, etc) to see the Secure Apps and allow login. My Help desk raised a ticket with MobileIron, who acknowledge that they are aware of the issue. Now that I know I can get access restored by logging into Secure Apps module, it is not a headache anymore.
Why do you use such piece of software on rooted devices?

So, mobile iron fixed this issue, I was reading through their android corner the other day. Should've posted the content here for you. When I get back to work tomorrow on Monday, I'll try and remember to post the fix.
It's pretty simple, just have to enable secureapps at startup, but can't remember where to do this.

Work Around
Enable Secure App Manager in App Auto-Launch.
On the One Plus device go to Settings > Apps

Scroll down and click on App auto-launch

Enable Secure App Manager
Enable Secure App Manager
Since I'm running AOSP, I'm not really running into any issues. I'm also using my device as a BYOD, but hopefully this helps.
I'm trying to install the [email protected] app on my device OnePlus 3 which is running on Oxygen OS 5 (Android 8.0.0), I'm getting similar error message. With Oxygen OS 5 there is no option to Enable Secure App Manager or modify App Auto Launch settings. What is the work around? Please help.

I checked the mobile iron forums and have not seen a work around for Oreo. Strange however, I have it installed and everything is running fine. Are you using the device in a BYOD environment or in a corporate owned state?
A lot of [email protected] has to do with the way it is set up (phone to server), so without knowing all of this information, I can't necessarily recommend any fixes.
Can you throw up some app settings and screen shots by chance? Please blur out any information before hand that is no one else should know.

I usually leave chrome in background after scrolling in websites, to continue later where I left. Before android P, chrome was never refreshing unless I reboot the phone, but on android P it refreshes frequently. The page reloads after switching back to chrome after a short time. Tried turning off adaptive battery but it didn't help. The last thing I can try is turning off battery optimization, but it may cause battery usage. Anyone else having poor memory optimization on android P, or a solution?
You must be the exception because I'm pretty sure majority of people, including myself, get Chrome pages to reload relatively easy. And it not needing to reload until a reboot sounds crazy to me. LOL

I mainly experience this problem with chrome in Pixel 2 XL. I found some settings in chrome:flags. Searched memory there and enabled Memory coordinator and Memory ablation experiment (selected just "Enabled"). After this, I did some tests and chrome didn't reload. Can you also try these settings? I'll need to see for some more time to tell if these really work.
