You'll need to flash an older build of global miui 8 then upgrade to miui 9... Try 8.0.3.0 stable

Hi,
i have a Mi Max 32GB and flashed TWRP without unlocking (with the method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/how-to/guide-install-global-miui8-root-t3435594) and installed MIUI 8 rooted.
Now i have to send it back for repair and i want to get back to stock (at least miui 8 unrooted with original recovery).
Can you help me how to do it?
I would try to flash unrooted miui 8 and the stock recovery with Mi Beta Flasher after it but where can i get the stock recovery?
Thanks

I think if you use MiFlash it will flash back everything including the stock recovery.
Will this work even if the phone is NOT unlocked? Where can i get the correct image? Which one do i need? And can i flash MIUI 7 too?
Yea... that was a great idea... i think it is bricked now
Started MiFlash Beta (which worked perfectly to install twrp a couple of weeks ago). Now i flashed the hydrogen_global_images_V8.0.2.0.MBCMIDG_20150805.0000.29_6.0._global_faa8bcca0e Fastboot ROM and after 94 seconds there was an error -translated - "For this command is not enough memory available.(0x800700008: Max buffer sector is 256)". After trying again i only get "critical error (0x8000ffff: Receiving hello packet). Also flashing twrp again does not work. If you see the Mi logo then you aren't bricked. Try flashing it again. If it doesn't work then try the Chinese version of the fastboot rom to get to stock then give the global rom a try again.

Just tried it and got exactly the same error
I could manage to reboot and go to miflashmode again and flash TWRP again. When i now install a MIUI 8 Global ROM it won't start but a MIUI 7 ROM booted. Unfortunately without any radio functions and with crashes. I think the radio partition is broken.

I can make you a flashable zip with the radios that you need that you can flash in TWRP. Try flashing the regular stock rom in TWRP.
This is all really crazy
After flashing a MIUI 8 Global ROM in TWRP the phone doesn't boot. After then installing an older MIUI 7 than before everything worked including radios. At the moment i'm trying to restore a MIUI 8 Backup which worked and delete data and cache to be kind of stock.
But nevertheless - how to flash stock recovery when i'm finished? I tried to flash via fastboot but this is not allowed due to the locked bootloader.
,
Hey guys,
I got a problem and I am not sure what I’m doing wrong. I wanted to install a custom ROM to my Xiaomi Mi 6 but it doesn’t work. I’ve done similar steps to my Redmi 4X and there it worked just fine. A little help would be really appreciated.
Here is what I did. I updated my new device to the latest stable version with the updater app. I then had to install the official developer ROM (from MIUI) because of a bug (not able to register for unlock). I requested the unlock officially and after the waiting time unlocked the device with the MIUI unlock flash tool. In the developer options the device was shown as unlocked and also the bootloader was unlocked.
I installed TWRP 3.2.1-1 from the official website. After booting into TWRP I installed the latest mi-globe ROM (v9.5.3.0 oreo!). After a reboot I could see the logo of the mi-globe ROM but nothing would happen.
I did one mistake. The first time I installed the mi-globe ROM I forgot to wipe Dalvik, Cache, Data and System partition (clean install). So, after I recognized my mistake I rebooted into TWRP made the wipe and installed again but with no success.
After that I tried to install the next lower version of mi-globe (v9.2.4.0 with Android 7.1.1) but this got also stuck at the boot animation. The animation still moves but nothing happens. I waited for about 10 minutes.
5 minutes ago I flashed the official developer ROM with TWRP and it worked. The phone is booting. I was not able to flash the official stable ROM only the developer version works?!?!
Any idea what I did wrong? I flashed custom ROMs a couple of times but never got a problem like this.
Thank you!
Problem solved!
I got it working now. Problem was that wiping data is not enough. I read it in another post. So, if someone has the same problem here is how I solved it:
1. Boot into TWRP
2. FORMAT data (not wipe) - go to wipe, click button in right corner to format data
3. Type in “yes” (all data will be erased!!)
4. Reboot into recovery (TWRP)
5. Go to wipe and wipe Dalvik, Cache, and System
6. Reboot into recovery (TWRP)
7. Go to install and install zip of ROM you would like to install
8. Reboot system - worked!!
:good::good:
The rebooting into recovery is just for safety. I read that if system is wiped the partition could not be available for installation if you don't reboot. So, I guess its better to reboot just be sure.
I have one question or help if I can. I have Mi6 with a global stable rom 9.5.3.0 version. I want to go to the global developer rom. 8.4.12 how to do it if there is a way to not open the bootloader.

Orange Fox works but I get the same message about the password I got with TWRP. What is the difference?
By the way: I was able to flash magisk with TWRP and all seems to be fine, I just disregarded the TWRP notification about the password...

No. Maybe it's coded better for Xiaomi phones?
Request Unlock from Xiaomi.
Wait for 1 week. (98 hours)
Search "XiaoMiTool V2"
Don't bother with image flashing. Just follow XiaoMiTool V2.

The recovery from nigel8 is outdated.
Use orange fox because since a while nigel8 one doesn't support encryption.
Then follow the others steps explained

This is actually quite easy
1. Unlock the phone using the well documented process
2. Download TWRP for Mi Max 3 (on your PC)
3. Get ADB tools on your PC
4. Download Magisk.zip on the phone
5. Put your phone in fastboot mode
6. Boot TWRP on the phone ( no need to install, you can disregard the encryption comment)
7. Using TWRP flash the Magisk.zip you have downloaded
8. Reboot - and you are rooted

Install Xiaomiflash and download the last fastboot rom for redmi note 5 pro of your region and extract it. then connect your device to your computer, launch Xiaomiflash, click on refresh, if your device was detected, click on the explorer of Xiaomiflash and select the extracted rom. Click on "clean all m" and flash the rom, after a few minute you can boot your smartphone
Sorry for my bad english and sorry for not giving a link, I have a new account

Hi,
Did you install the pie firmware recommanded by the dev (9.4.25 or 9.5.23).
After all I read and perhaps "understood" this is due to not having the right firmware. I mean one of the both I wrote.
Hope it helps...
Download and install FW 9.4.25 from Xiaomi Firmware Page
Have you guys solved this problem?
I have exactly the same problem! I can't install PE or LineAge, Havoc OS works fine for some reason :/
I had this issue, but it solved by install twrp 3.3.1.1 and flash pie f.w, then P.E rom

I cannot verify this will work but I did read somewhere that you should download and install MiFlash version20181115
Then go into the "mi" folder ...
C:\.....\Joyeuse\MIUI\MiFlash20181115\mi
... and run ...
"account_auth.exe"
... BEFORE you make any attempt to roll back or downgrade your MIUI version.
I have not tried it myself so cannot vouch for it working.
Good luck.
EDIT I remembered where I saw this info and here is the link that will give you much better, detailed instructions ...

Mine comes with 12.0.1.0 too.
Anti rollback index is 1.
Checked joyeuse stable V11.0.7.0.QJZMIXM antirollback is 1 too.
So i think you can go to V11.0.7.0.QJZMIXM by downloading the recovery zip and selecting it in miui update package ( not tested )
Hi bro
I checked it anti roleback is ok
But i dont test it in recovery and updator
If you have 12.0.1.0 QJZMIXM i think you can download V11.0.7.0.QJZMIXM Zip file.
Go to update and touch 10 times in android 12 image.
Then "Select update package" will apear in options and you can select V11.0.7.0.QJZMIXM zip file.
With some of luck it will clear data and rollback to 11.0.7.0
Thanks i have to test
