Chinese Moto z play - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

Hi I bought Chinese Moto z play from banggood, it has android 6 based on custom rom, is it possible to install European version of official rom so I can get Netflix and android pay available, thanks.

Yes, I assume the bootloader is unlocked. You need to install TWRP and flash the stock Rom made by xda user flashallthetime.

Could you tell me how to do it step by step explained version.

Go to Motorola website to unlock your bootloader, all instructions are there. Then come back to xda and search for Alberto TWRP for Moto z play.

I wanna say that you would need an ICS kernel , which you would need to unlock your BL for.. and the system on your phone wont matter, since ICS isn't official on our plays your will need to instal a custom Rom which will overwrite everything anyway
Thanks

Well I did some reading and I think you will need an unlocked BL and at least be on the .42 firmware, 2.3.4 like you originally posted. I know there are a few ICS roms that work in the developer section. But I think for the official beta release your gonna wanna follow what Sony said.
Edit: looks like you have to fastboot a boot.img and userdata.img and system.img

You'll be able to get ICS without an unlocked bootloader once the official update is released, since the official releases can be made into files for flashtool.
Aside from the fact it'll be done through SEUS.

Update from Android 2.3.7

Hi, i got a problem with an xperia s wich is unable to find any official update from the android version 2.3.7. .
The phone is stuck in that android version and says that's the last software update avaible.
How could this possible??
I live in Italy and the phone is a no brand white version.
Thankyou very much, let me know if i could give you some other details to help diagnosing the problem
I'd use the Sony update tool to check it

Use Flashtool to flash 4.0.4!
You can download the Firmware here at xda
use this tools for updating your phone
http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/
Thankyou very much, what about the warranty and/or the risks using this tool? This doesn't seem the official way.
You wont loose warranty with this Tool. Only if you unlock the bootloader.
It isn't the Oficial way, but you use official firmware.

800at successful ics?

love my phone. but it's almost 2 years old. my phone is stock but rooted and it runs excellent since i've cleared all the bloat.
i've got a build 3.0.1.b.0.270
android version 2.3.3
is there anyone happy with stock ics on their att play? if so, does everything work 100% (wifi, text messaging, internet)?
sorry for this newbie post to the experts but would appreciate help. thanks.
Atm there's no stock ics ics firmware... Most of them are modded roms from the original ics beta or ported from other devices... But first, UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER... If it's still locked you won't be able to flash any custom kernel or Rom...

To install ics you need to have your bootloader unlocked. Other than that your set to go with everything else.

On Krisdees Sony ICS Beta everything works great battery life with lupus 720 p ICS +GB......unlocking your boot loader is your primary objective...IdK if your being a r800a makes things different...as I am r800i

R800a and R800i are the same thing, it doesn't matter which in one you have... unlock your bootloader via zergrush and i recommend you to try either the express rom or the markpython rom, both have NXT looks... if you wanna try something a little different, try de hybrid rom by krisdee...
Have to pay

As far as I know, you have to pay to have your bootloader unlocked if you have the r800at. I recommend Jinx13, I got it done in about 10 minutes.

[Q] Alternatives rom to xperia s with 2.55 Firmwares with locked bootloader

Hello friends, good morning!
I have a xperia s with 2.55 Firmwares with locked bootloader. And, finally, I managed to make root through this process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39498268
I would change the official rom
What do you recommend me?
With the locked bootloader, is it possible for me to put some 4.1 or 4.2?

You cannot install 4.1 or 4.2 ROMs on locked boot loader for now. Sorry. Check the development section for a list of roms that work on locked bootloader. We are not allowed to tell which ROM is the best so you will have to try it for yourself. Sorry again.

Root broke after JB update.

Hi, when I updated to jelly bean from ice cream sandwich I lost my root and now I can't get it back. I have downloaded the latest "root toolbox" or what ever it's called that you use to root the Xperia devices (this one had tools to root Google glass so it can't be that old). I've ran both normal and the Xperia Z version but non of them worked. Please help, respond to this post or email me, and excuse my bad english... Thanks in advanced!

We can't root JB. You must wait or you should install pre-orderrooted JB.

Of course it will break after the update.
Is there any way I can get an other Rom on it now sins I can't root it?

Flash stock ICS via flashtool.
Root and install CWM.
Then flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42011328

XAS Root
here's what i've done, thanks to cobrato for the guide.
from stock JB, flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2309117 in fastboot
then copy paste http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42005929&postcount=3 to internal storage
reboot into recovery (i use TWRP) to flash it, reboot into system, done.
that's what i've done.
and of course, you must UNLOCK your BL above all steps.
So if the only way I can get root is to flash a custom Rom, should I use CM or the leaked pre rooted Sony version or anything else's. My phone is starting to run priti slow, but I do enjoy Sony's "small apps". Is there any way to get those on CM?
