Hi All,
Whenever I used to restart/power off/on my htc 10, I used to get the decryption PIN screen being prompted. However, I did not see the screen being prompted for the last couple of days. I can see my storage is encrypted under Settings --> Storage, however, the check-box and option are greyed-out and don't let me to edit. Does anyone know if any recent htc Sense update removed the PIN prompt to decrypt the storage?
Some additional information:
htc version 7.0 - 2.41.400.5 (Stock Android)
Have TouchPal Keyboard disabled
Did a "Reset App Preferences" last week to install Greenify.
Thanks in advance!
I think it had looked like this for a long time (since the Nougat update ver 2.41.401.3). I had to enter the PIN when the phone was already booted (like the SIM PIN). This white PIN screen returned after the latest Android update (first since the march Nougat update for the EU countries - ver 2.41.401.41). Now every time I restart/power off/on my htc 10 I have to enter the PIN. I don't know how it was possible that earlier you could boot the phone without the PIN prompt.
So as you can see you should just wait for the update in your region.

Thanks for your email!
I would like to clarify that I used to see the white PIN screen post Nougat upgrade. However, the PIN screen is not being prompted for the last few days. I am not sure how the PIN prompt is disabled.
Thanks!
I'm not sure, maybe I also had this white PIN screen for some time after the update but then it stopped showing.

Howdy everyone.
An hour ago I decided to encrypt my Optimus G Pro running SlimKat 4.4.2 and things have gone awry. During the encryption process it asked me for a "Pin". I assumed this was my lockscreen pin that it was asking for so I put that in. The next screen prompted me to plug in my device and wait ~1 hour. I came back to the phone rebooted at the decrypt screen asking for a password.
I have tried the Pin I gave before I hit the encrypt button (which was my lock screen pin) as well as my Google account password but nothing is working.
Was the encryption setup supposed to ask me for another password specifically for encrypting / decrypting or is it my lock screen code that isn't working? Or is there a default password that it's on that I change after encrypting? If not, I guess I'll be doing a factory reset.
Edit: Ended up just factory resetting it.
Hi All, i was hoping to use my old galaxy alpha as a second phone, but , since entering an unlock code from the provider, my phone is constantly restarting after 20-30 seconds. It doesnt restart when i'm in the boot menu, so i'm assuming this is a software issue.
Can i reinstall android (or even an updated version) to fix this?
Hi - I want to upgrade my wife's encrypted OP3T from OOS 4.x to a Nougat custom ROM.
Her TWRP Recovery Mode has Pattern Lock on Boot protection right now, which I can get into without any issues.
When I tried to modify her OP3T in the past, I ran into a problem where I couldn't unlock TWRP after flashing a new ROM. As a result, I had to wipe her phone, and lost all her data. It led to unhappy weeks at home, with a "Don't you DARE touch my phone again" for a long time after.
I would like to take precautionary steps this time, and set up TWRP so that I don't need to input a unlock pattern.
Is there a way that I can disable the currently required lock pattern to get into TWRP?
You should be fine if you have the latest twrp. That bug only occured in old build of twrp. Or remove the option set password on boot.
Hi there,
First timer on the forums. I rooted my phone around mid February of this year and haven't had a problem until recently. I've noticed I cannot press the OK key after I entered my pin. The OS just doesn't recognize it. And it turns off normally as if I took too long to press anything and the phone sleeps. Reason I posted is because I have the phone on fingerprint setup, but when I restarted my phone, it required me to enter my pin. But I can't even enter my pin and unlock my phone. I seriously don't want to have to go into recovery mode to do a factory reset/data wipe.
Any suggestions? Anything but data wiping would be appreciated.
Never mind
I don't have time to waste since I need this for work. You may close this thread.
Hi all,
I've got an Honor 7x European version full stock (no oem unlocked, stock recovery, stock rom) on Android 7.
Since 4 days after SIM pin unlocked, the phone asked as usual the screen unlock password. If I enter the password (I know the right password), the phone says after 5 bads atempts that it is blocked for 30 seconds and after that for 1 hour.
I've no "forgot password" displayed on the bottom of the screen and I can't reset screen password throught google device manager (https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager) because google didn't see the phone since the issue, even though the phone got GSM network and wifi.
Is there a solution to bypass the screen lock without loosing my datas (I know the factory reset solution, but I want to save my phone contacts, sms, calendar, photos, etc. before reseting) ?
Thank you in advance.
