Ever since the MM update, my wife's SM-T807R4 (US Cellular version) freezes frequently when browsing and using any app which requires touchscreen input. It's almost unusable unless one doesn't mind closing and opening the case every 2 or 3 minutes (or hitting the power button twice.) I have recently rooted it and disabled many of the Samsung apps as well as some Google apps we don't use. It hasn't helped. I have not yet flashed TWRP but I have instructions on how to do so.
I don't know if the MM update caused the problem or there's a hardware issue that just didn't seem to arise until after that update. In any case, I'd like to return to Lollipop and see if that improves things. Once TWRP is available, can I just wipe everything and flash the Lollipop ROM with TWRP or do I have to flash it with Odin? Anything else I need to do to prepare?

Tab s t705 singapore updated to hong kong lolipop 5.0.2.
Been using it for a month without problems till suddenly started freezing in certain situations.till now i think its isolated to charging!
Device rooted supersu/twrp.
Ive read about it on internet couldnt find aolution and happened to other tab s (800..700..etc) no solution found and some said linked to lollipop but ive used it a while before anything happened.
What i did and did NOT work.
1.with without sim/
2. Delete cashe/dalvik and wipe to factory
3, restore a previous backup twrp where the issue want there
4. Installed other rom ..blissrom
5.flashed seperal kernels and updated twrp to latest for tab s
6.using other charger
Can be hardware? What can go wrong? Maybe from a drop something happened?
It keeps freezing with wtever last on screen. Lockscreen/app opened/home screen..mostly on lockscreen as it seems to happen a while after starting charging.
Please help this problem is driving me crazy since i lose all my work when it happens and im on stock rooted lolipop rom

8.4 models have been known to have problems with the battery connector which causes issues. There is a video on YouTube for the fix.
i think its solved !
rolled back to stock 4.4.2 od3 that came with the tab s. rooted backup.
i dont know what app/update/root/kernel might cause it but seems it was actually from lollipop and confirmed now !
AND SEEMS TO WORK BACK NORMALLY NOW !
I doubt it's lollipop itself but more a rogue app if that is the case.
I would make a backup of your current system with flashfire then reinstall lollipop and see if it happens again.
If it does restore your flashfire backup.
I haven't rooted or made any kinds of major adjustments but still there will be times when it will randoms just restart for reason I'm unaware of. What can I do to track down the reasons for the restart?
On a side note: really considering rooting since it doesn't seem like this tablet is going to get marshmallow. What roms are out there that have good support and still allow me to use the S-Pen?
I don't know how to track down but how about flashing stock 5.1 rom with odin?
Maybe it can solve the problem
So the tablet sometimes loses touchscreen function. The physical buttons work fine when it freezes, it's just the screen that gets completely unresponsive.
The physical buttons work fine when it freezes, its just the screen.
I don't remember facing this issue in Lollipop, only in Marshmallow. Reseting didn't help.
This issue is similar to this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/help/tab-s-vzw-loses-touchscreen-t3037140
Same problem with my 807R4. Will be in the middle of something and the capacitive buttons and screen stop responding. Tried restoring all available firmwares thru Odin and problem persists. I'm wondering if it's a memory issue? This tablet is a pig with RAM! I would like to flash an AOSP rom to see if it's a memory issue unfortunately my model is snap dragon based and there is only 1 working recovery and 0 custom roms.

Haha across this and my starting doing this as well. I was even thinking of looking for a broken SM-T800 model and swapping the motherboard so I can use ASOP.. but idk.. might not be worth it...
Use the shortcode to access the firmware TSP settings for the touch screen and ensure that all parts have the same build number. If not tap the general update button and it should fix the mismatch.

What is the process for this?
Apparently very common. Have the same issue with my wife's SM-T807R4, the US Cellular version. Also seemed to get worse after MM update. Rooted it a couple days ago and started disabling or deleting the Samsung bloatware but so far it hasn't done anything. One thing that did work, though only temporarily, was clearing the cache with Titanium Backup. After doing this (and it took several minutes), I was able to surf the web (with Chrome) for over 30 minutes without it freezing. However, it started freezing again after a while and now is back to freezing every 2 or 3 minutes. It will however play an entire 2 hour movie without locking up so it definitely appears to be related to the touchscreen.
Update:. I think this may be a hardware issue. I booted into TWRP recovery and had the screen freeze. When booting to recovery, there's not much if any of Android loaded. If it was software related, I don't think the screen would freeze in TWRP.
Udate? Samsung nor Verizon offer update!

Seems like a lot of people have the same problem no one has solution is what I hear?
same problem
among other problems im having with my Tab, this is annoying me so much. i need to flash the stock 4.4.2 firmware and they delete all versions of firmware for this specific tablet from sammobile, the Verizon model. wtf is there any way i can get a stock kitkat rom for my SM-t807V? where? o if anybody can send me a backup o something.
I had the latest 6.0.1 samsung rom (CPK2) which was giving me problems with freezing. So I am trying to upgrade to an 7.x.x rom, either RR, AIPC, or Lineage. But none of these roms allow the T800 boot to get beyond the initial splash logo screen. I am using latest TWRP, 3.1.1 to wipe and install rom. I am not getting any install errors. Boot loader is confirmed as CPK2.
FYI, I am able to get back to the samsung rom by reflashing it with Odin.
Update 1: In the final attempt of upgrading I installed the official 6.0.1 fw which boots fine unlike the aforementioned alternatives (very strange). However, lock ups and now screen blanking more frequent. This time wiped everything including storage. It looks more like a hardware issue but I wonder if this could be malware even after wiping everything. I will have to take this in for repair but have little hope of solving this problem.

My wife has the US Cellular 10.5 variant (T807R4). It was freezing so frequently it had become almost unusable for anything but watching videos. Rooting and disabling most of the Samsung apps did not fix the problem. I wiped the system with TWRP only to discover that none of the custom ROMs would work on this model. I downloaded and flashed the stock Samsung MM firmware (and it sat on the opening splash screen for at least 15 minutes before it finally booted up) and for the hour I used it after setting it up, I had no problems. I had previously cleared the cache with Titanium Backup and that also seemed to be a temporary fix. My conclusion is that something is happening when the cache fills up that causes the freezes but I'll need more data to say that for sure.
Just an update: I was going to have the hardware looked at so I wiped everything including the storage. But when I took it to the shop and was asked to demonstrate the freezing the tablet wouldn't. So I took it back and it was running OK until a couple weeks later when the same problems reared there heads.
Somehow I managed to get a 7.1.2 installed and the T800 is running great...so far. I'll post back if the freezing starts again.

Please explain the steps to install 7.1.2 (and which ROM you used) and update on the freezing issue. Most of the freezing issues I have read about seem to be on LTE variants (SM-T807x) so I was about to buy a wifi only (T800) tablet, thinking that would be a solution to the problem. If that's not the case, then I shouldn't waste my money.
The instructions for installing a non-stock ROM are on the dev's host page in Tab s forums. I first tried Resurrection Remix and now am on LineageOS. It was only after I wiped the internal storage area that I was able to get past the 7.x.x boot screens.
I found the stock rom 6.0.1 freezing issue persistent. I believe the problems started for me with XAR H4 and really picked up with K2 (roms supplied by sammobile). The tablet would frequently just freeze while working in an app: the screen and hardware buttons would not respond at all. Never had that problem with Android 5. The only thing I was able to do to unfreeze it was to reboot into download mode then restart the OS from there. I sometimes found that if I left it frozen overnight it would unfreeze itself by morning.
Hi team
I recently purchased an ex Demo HTC One M9 as a cheap replacement to my broken Galaxy S7 Edge, as soon as I received it I decided to flash TWRP and a new ROM on it. I was able to unlock the bootloader via HTCDEV.com easily enough and I was able to flash TWRP onto it without issue but when it came to the ROM's I ran into many problems.
Any version of Android that is Nougat or lower would not boot, the phone would go straight to the white bootloader screen every time. Oreo and Pie ROMs were able to boot but I ran into separate issues with them, I could not make or receive phone calls as the whole phone would freeze and there was no audio in from the speaker. I was also unable to play any videos in Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat etc.
I tried every single ROM available here on XDA and ran into these issues. I stupidly also did not make a TWRP backup of my system so it was quite hard to revert back to what it came from factory, I managed to get a stock Marshmellow running thanks to a User here posting a TWRP backup so thanks.
Is anyone able to help me with upgrading to Nougat? I would really like to get the Viper ROM working if possible, is it a known issue getting stuck in the bootloader menu every time?
I've tried just updating through the OTA process in the menu but it says there is no update file available.
Cheers
