I have tried to boot linux on my blue angel and run opie. I can simply boot the linux but i don't know how to run opie. I have extracted the RootFS on my second drive but i don't know where are the executibles for opie.
Anyone has an idea?

You should take the opie image here:
http://hands.com/~lkcl/blueangel/opie-image-blueangel.rootfs.tar.bz2
I have tried it 5 minutes ago, and there is a problem
The touchscreen driver is not delivering any data. This opie version works on Universal, but there are other problems there.
I will look into the touchscreen issue now.
Usable as a phone?
As said above, does this combination work as a phone? I've read the project pages and they seem vague to me.
TIA

There is no opie phone app, afaik.
The phone (voice,SMS) works with GPE:

Viable replacement
Is this a viable replacement to the WM2003/WM5 for the BlueAngel? Speed? Interact access? Wi-Fi?
=EDITED=========================================
I found the directions very clear this morning. I MUST start with a Linux/Unix system to format the SD card, correct? Then transfer everything over there.
Has anyone used Gomunicator to make calls?

wifi is not working, but it is the same chipset as in ipaq hx4700, where the people from HP are porting the driver.

I was told that voice and SMS works, but have not tried them myself. Too busy with the universal
It is not quite self-explaining how to install Android on our Windows Mobile devices. Therefore I took some time and wrote down all the steps for people who are new to "Android".
More testers -> more experience -> more knowledge -> faster/better development.
I hope this way the forum is kept clean(er) from all kinds of questioned that have already been answered many times.
ReadMe Includes:
- Partitioning
- Device preparations
- Boot loader
- Install steps

If you are a developer (you create your own package) feel free to use my ReadMe for your packages (update regularly though).
to download the ReadMe click the [Android Repository] button in my signature.
It goes to a rapidshare page with 3 files, and when I click on the filename Android_README.TXT

ok thanks. i fixed it (rs bug when renaming files ^^)
How would i partition a 1GB SD Card? ie what sizes etc are the last 3 same but the unallocated is just whats left over?
I want to use a spare card rather then the one that came with my HD.

normally just calculate how i wrote in the readme:
whole space -768 (3* 256) and then the other 3 x 256
but in ur case i would make the swap smaller (i think its not even used at all) and the fat32 bigger; for instance:
fat32 - 384 MB
ext2 - 256 MB
ext2 - 256 MB
swap - 128 MB (rest)
To be honest the bit I find most confusing is all the different versions!
i didnt create any partitions on my card, and android works as good as it does on any, mind you i have not updated the files fo0r a month so alot might have changed

i agree...
i've been looking these posts here for a couple of days now and i still don't know how to do it....
especially the DualBoot thing...
is it possible to make a little bigger how-to manual?
or at least explain the versioning and the needed thing a little more?
the readme is about 50 times longer than anything else u will find about installing android anywhere else
the different versions are just like in windows mobile, theres not much to explain, its rather up to ur personal preference. doesnt take as long as flashing a wm rom, so its easy to try out more versions, especially with more sd cards.
dual boot is easy:
1. install the cab
2. open the dual boot program and make all your settings, for example: auto boot android (click on the checkbox/ratio under android logo), check auto boot checkbox and check fast boot (means 3 instead of 10 secs).
3. restart your device, DONT LAUNCH HARET because that will destroy all the dualboot settings. if you restart/shutdown the device normally, the settings will be stored and android will automatically booted at next startup (or whatever you set before)
if you have android autoboot and u want to boot wm, just QUICKLY press the wm LOGO when the dual boot screen appears.
i might include this in the readme soon, just dont have the time right now unfortunally

Thanks for the dualboot help... i'll try that...
the first problem I have encountered yesterday when trying to put Android was SD card formating...
i downloaded the program you said and followed the instructions oh how-to and was not able to do it under Windows 7 with my 16GB SD card... does it even work for Windows 7??? is there another program I can try to do it with???
I have also dualboot on my PC with the Kubuntu being the second OS, but I'm not using it as much as Windows 7... I can try with it if you think it will work.. but first I have to download the 15GB of data from my SD card to my PC, again
I would like to put the Espresso build cause I saw that it has everything working beside the GPRS and camera...
can you tell me what should I download for my Blackstone so it works properly???
thanks alot...

like the readme says: partitioning is only needed for partitined builds, which means that android uses several partitions to store different kinds of data, for - hopefully - more speed. only glossy uses partitions, espresso doesnt.
for glossy, u can also use ubuntu (download parted magic or something similar) to create partitions.
for espresso, u just need to copy the stuff onto ur sdcard.
but thats all in the readme... i dont have time to explain in detail coz i need to study a whole ****in lot at the moment +.+

well, some details about what version you are using would be helpful. however, this is not the right channel to ask this question. i think this question has already been asked several times in other threads. try search function or read the thread for ur version, its probably a version-issue or only for your country/provider

Backup Manager (attached below)
Steps
Extract Psfreedom to root of your internal storage. Replace module and zimage file. if the name of new and old module is different just delete the old module
Connect phone in active sync mode with your pc
Run haret.exe
After you see boot animation you can disconnect your phone from pc
open terminal emulator in dev tools in android
run the following command -># Type "su", then "cd /sdcard", then "insmod psfreedom.ko"
make sure your ps3 is turned off( switched oof from the back in FAT model/ power cable is unplugged in SLIM model)
connect your phone to the usb port of your PS3
Turn the back switch on(FAT model) or plug in the power cable for Slim model
press power button and then immediately press eject button
Now in XMB there will be another option to install package files
put the manager.pkg in your fat32 formatted pen drive
Go to install package file and choose manager.pkg
After it is installed remove the pen drive
Insert the game you want to make a backup of.
Open backup manager and select the game and press backup.
After the backup has been made remove the game disk and put any other game disk.
choose the game of which you made backup and press load. it will send you to XMB
Now in front of the CD icon it will be the game you backed-up, not the game of which you inserted the disk.
Just run the game and ENJOY
NOTE: Those who get unknwown usb connected try 5-10 times. if the error continues.Format your internal storage and change your android build to 29.7.10 and and if it still doesnt work flash a new rom ( a fast one) ( dont know why but it worked for me) .
If you get the black screen then come back to XMB while running backup make sure you are removing your pen drive while making a backup. If it still doesnt work you can use the PSfreedom provided by Denial84 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E2J6E55H

Hi arjunking,
Firstly, Thanks!
I suspect a lot of people might be still struggling with this, like I am.
The first issue I have is this:
Step 1 "Extract Psfreedom to root of your internal storage. Replace module and zimage file"
I'm running XDANDROID.2.2.AOSP.29.7.10.RC2.1. Looking at the 'andboot' folder (where I run xdandroid from) the module file has a different name that the module file in the psfreedom package. Therefore, 'replace the module file' doesn't occur.
Does this indicate I'm using the wrong xdandroid version? Will it be a problem?
First of all, thanks for this guide, i answers some questions that most of us have, but not some of the other,
What build of xdandroid is reccomended?

Just put both files in internal storage, it works for me
thanks.
I have htc diam500.
I didn't use those crappy "andboot" folders.
I did EVERYTHING from the root. I also tried like 3 different versions of the psfreedom.ko file(one with bmdv* support) and some other one.
So I think it comes down to having the right psfreedom file and LUCK.
Also once you install the emulator(the thing you do after installing Xandroid) if you get a # and blank line than you've done it right. After that just plug it up to your ps3 when it's completly off.

OK, I'm almost there.
I should've tried it before I posted because apparently it doesn't matter if the modules file in the psfreedom package has a different name to the one in the xdandroid folder. I just deleted the original 'modules-2.6.27.46-01130-g0ac6681.tar' and copied over the one from the psfreedom package 'modules-2.6.27.46-01162-g741ab49-dirty.tar'
I've got to the point of starting my first backup.
This brings me to my next question:
1. When using the backup manager there is no option to backup to an external hard disk.
So how do I either:
a) backup to external hdd, or
b) move my backups from the internal hdd to an external hdd when they're done?
Update: OK, now that I've got a Fat32 formatted external hdd connected the 'backup manager' prompts me to backup to external hard disk

ummm I'm not sure on that. You would prob. have to google that. or just save it to your internal drive on the ps3 and when it's done see if they would let you do it is the only way I know.

Also, if you run xdandroid from a location other than the root of internal storage, you need to make a corresponding change to step 6. In my case:

Hello everyone,
I'm facing a problem that sometimes goes away. When i start HaRET, it freezes after it vibrates. What could be the problem? I'm using a HTC Touch Pro(not a diamond)
I Hope that someone has a solution for this problem.
that maybe cause of the android you are using. try reinstalling android using a new or different build. try the one in first post.

Formatted a 128mb micro sd card(i know it needs to be more for datastore), copied the files to the root of the card and run it. It looked like it was fixed, but it frozen after doing some things to load up android.
you need atleast 300mb of space for proper functioning of android.
it will kinda extract the sy.ext2 file which is of 90 mb so it takes all your space.
What I need...
Someone to repackage a boot.img for me. Specifically, I need a boot.img unpacked, replace the file "/init.inc.rc" with my version, and repack it. (I'm stuck on all Windows, and cygwin is not an option.)
Purpose/Goal
Fix the annoying fact that /emmc is not accessible to almost all market apps, without resorting to using the modified media scanner from CyanogenMod or anything else drastic.
Do not change fstab. /mnt/emmc and /mnt/sdcard will not change.
NOTE: I am not trying to create a symlink on the FAT32 of the SD card.
My idea
Modify /init.inc.rc to change the EMMC settings. (Changes made, need someone with tools. See above.)
Modify /system/etc/vold.fstab to relocate EMMC mount point.
Directory structure
/sdcard (unchanged)
/sdcard/emmc (new location of emmc)
/emmc (Retarget the symbolic link to new location.)
/mnt/emmc (Change to symlink for compatibility, just in case.)
What I want to know...
This arrangement makes /emmc redundant. Can it be safely removed?
When you connect to a PC, how/what does Android map to USB drives? (I assume it is the mount blocks, not the symlinks.)
What odd behaviors may occur? (e.g. will "Settings->SD & phone storage" freak out?)
Maybe, just maybe: How to bottle this into a flashable .zip? (I'll worry about that later.)
If anyone has any pull with the ROM devs (i.e. Koush, rmk40, et al.), I really want to hear from them.
+1. I'd love to make emmc usable in Winamp
Bzzzt... Sorry.
ARGH!
The internal storage is VFAT also. No symlinks allowed.
Blast you, HTC!
What??
I hate doing this, but editing the original post doesn't bump the thread.
I did not want to create a new thread, but what I need has completely changed.
So. BUMP.
Why HTC, WHY?!
Would there be a way to format emmc to NOT be VFAT?
Progress!!!!
I'm close to getting a boot.img ready to test out on my phone.
I spent yesterday hacking away. I've made a Windows tool for handling boot images. I'm about 80% done with the required features. I have all the unpacking finished. I've repacked the ramdisk. I can generate the SHA hash to sign the image. It's just a matter to gluing the last stages together.

I'm sure it could be done, but this is way more work/hassle that I want to deal with. Major obstacle here is that ALL data on emmc is wiped, and I'm not willing to that.
Assuming there are no hidden "features," my approach should be invisible to the Android layer (i.e. will not break any HTC software). HOWEVER... I'm pretty much Senseless, so I'm not too concerned (for my own use) about HTC's apps.
My biggest concern is that the media scanner will generate duplicates of all files found on emmc. But a/the big motivator for this work is to use Winamp, so I don't really give a whoop.
This was tried by koush when we couldn't get cm6 to scan emmc. It didn't work.

What didn't work? Or how did it not work?
I'm not sure. I wasn't involved in the effort. Koush would be the person to talk to but island how to get a hold of him. I just think the OS rejected mounting a physical drive within a physical drive. But don't let that discourage you. It might be still be possible.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Any progress on this? I really would love to have /emmc accessible as /sdcard.
Why HTC decided to make /data/data so small and put the rest of the space as /emmc is still a mystery to me. This is my only gripe with this phone.
Progress update
I made my first attempt on Friday, which resulted in a boot loop. So, obviously, I'm missing something important. (Battery pull and recover boot fixed the problem.)
I couldn't work on it this weekend. But I'm going to start digging into it some today.
More info:
It didn't get past the slash screen. Since I'm flashing a boot image, this is obviously where the problem is located. I just don't have any error logging to read over. Since I'm cooking on Windows, I'm wondering if my file permissions and ownership are messed up.
Also, while running my update, I observed that the boot image flashing did not seem to take long at all. So, I'm concerned that I didn't even get a complete flash.

i'm not sure if this will help any of you, but i read before that it said koush tried to get the emmc mounting.. etc... and it didn't work. but - i'm running cm 6.1 stable and winamp can and does read my music found on the internal memory. so it seems to work for me. however - i cannot take picture and have them stored on the internal memory. anyway, good luck.
OK.... I got the ramdisk sorted out. The boot loop is gone. But it doesn't progress past the splash1. sigh.

CM6 uses a modified media scanner (Android layer) that uses '/mnt' as its base directory, instead of '/mnt/sdcard.' And, as you say, it has its own problems.
I am trying to modify the underlying file system to make hopefully all software work (e.g. HTC stock, Winamp and other media players, 90% of the apps I've played with).
It "works!"
Alright... I have all the tools made, and bugs squashed. So, I can correctly mod a boot image. (Tip: The boot process has a zero warning or error tolerance.)
It fully booted. BUT... A permanent notification "Preparing phone storage.../Checking for errors." did not go away. All emmc directories were absent.
So, I've found a problem. Google didn't return any useful information... Especially annoying is the face that I don't even get a link to the Android source to even get a hint where this notification comes from.
AHA! Fixed that problem. Now, emmc is visible on the sdcard.
NEXT problem (this one I expected):
Media scanner picked up 2 copies of my pictures (I have them on emmc). So, my thought is to start removing links (and references) to emmc in its new location until things clear up.

The double items in media scanner seems like a small issue compared to what it fixes.
More problems created than fixed. (And WHY this is a mess to begin with.)
Postmortem thus far...
Touching ANY code related to where emmc appears will cause Setting to FC if you view the SD & phone storage usage.
Makes media visible to "other" applications, but shows duplicates in HTC's music and gallery apps.
I didn't look too closely at it, but I question that the camera was playing nice with the new config.

SO... I took some time to understand the double items, and why EMMC is such a problem to begin with.
HTC did not modify the media scanner/provider to support EMMC. They modified their APPS. Do a dump of HTC's music and gallery apps. You'll find a LOT of extra code, and a lot of added symbols/strings for handling the phone storage.
In other words, they didn't create a "public" solution. They just made their own private patch, and brushed it under the rug. (How dare we not use THEIR apps???)
Media Scanner/Provider:
I looked at Koush's code changes. I don't understand his changes. I'm not sure how/why it "works." I don't know why it reportedly breaks the HTC apps. I am also not sure that their is a way to mod it to actually fix the issue... Google's code was not written to be extensible. But, I think it may be the way to go in the long run.
What other phones have EMMC? Do they have a fix?
My tools...
There is a lot of code duplication, no GUI, or options. It ain't exactly pretty, but it works.
I'm posting this here for future reference by others wishing to work with boot.img.
Note: This specifically targets 1 file on the ramdisk (init.inc.rc), but with some changes this could do almost anything you would want.
License... Oh. GPL. If you make changes, please send me a patch.
REQUIRES: AutoHotkey (Hey.... it's all I had available, but the code should be easy for anyone to follow and port to another language.)
Runs on Windows (XP). Does not require cygwin. Native GZIP included.
My Asus VivoTab RT 64GB is playing up and I cannot refresh or reinstall the OS as I get an Insert Media missing files error (see photo). Obviously Windows RT tablets don't come with external media with the OS.
I would be eternally grateful if someone could copy the recovery files to a usb (an option given in the OS) and then upload the file to either skydrive, drop box or other host for me to download. Once downloaded, the file can be deleted from the host. I think the file is between 3.5gigs and 4gigs. I could then re host it for anyone else who needs it.
Please, I have contributed a lot to the xda forum and would really appreciate some help.
FYI I had sent my tab to Asus for repair and it came back with the ability to not be able to refresh pc and I am furious. I don't want to send it off again and be without it again for another two weeks.
Thank you!

Sorry, I don't have the tablet, otherwise I'd be glad to help.
I have the x86 Windows 8, and it has the option to create recovery media (I used USB). I gather this is how one would create the files you need? It is probably a stupid idea, but have you tried creating a recovery media (assuming you can get to those menus)? The recovery data should be somewhere on the disk, so it might work.

I plugged in a usb to make a recovery usb but it only copies files to boot up and not all 3.5 gigs worth. The option to copy the recovery partition to usb is greyed out so I cant check it. When I use Disk Management, the recovery partition reports 4 gigs and is healthy so can't on earth figure out why I cant make a recovery usb. is there a way to show the recovery folder and manually copy the files? I uses security tab to get adminsterative rights to show the recovery folder in C:\ but the folder is empty.

My system said I needed an 8 Gb USB drive (but recommended 16 Gb). How big is your USB drive? It may be grayed out because there isn't enough room on the drive.

I also need the recovery file as mine cannot boot into Windows now. When I turn it on, it goes into automatic repair and later prompt that \windows\system32\winload.efi (Error code: 0x0000001) is missing or contains errors and will require recovery tools to repair it.
Thanks in advance.
Oh pls

Any problem with torrent up the files?
I'm also looking for the Asus vivotab recovery image. The Surface image does not load the wireless drivers for the Vivotab. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I thought you could just refresh it to factory settings with in the os?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Strictly speaking, the OP didn't mention trying Reset (only Refresh and "reinstall" which may or may not have been Reset) but if those didn't work, it's highly unlikely that Reset would. Please do at least read the first post before commenting!

It's doesn't have a file size limit and has 50gb of free storage for free accounts.
If you can upload it when ever you got time that would be really helpful. :good:
Already uploaded, though hard to find! Don't forget to Thank OP...
