(Q) Get Rid of Android 8.0 Notification? - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Is there an easy way to get rid of the Android System Upgrade 8.0 Notification? Tried swiping it off but it's persistent. I'm rooted & running PN. Automatic System Updates are turned off in Developer Options. (I'd rather not block all notifications from Google Play Services as a means to banish this notification)
Thanks.

Here's a screenshot
See screenshot of the persistent notification below:

Turn off messages from Google Play Services either through the app settings or by long pressing the notification.

G4 notification "peeking"

I was wondering if anyone can elaborate on enabling the peeking feature for notifications on 6.0 update?..as far as I can tell it's enabled for all my apps, yet I'm not receiving any notification at top of screen from any app. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
I've never heard of such a feature. What do you mean?
Part of the 6.0 update was peeking notification. U can access it through, settings, apps, then select the notification settings for each app...it's like toast notification. If you Google it or check lg update page it details this feature as part of update, but it's not working for me
If its the one where screens off andnslide down to see notifs. Lock screen must be enabled

Persistent Notifications

I'm assuming this has been answered before but I can't find it.
I have several persistent notifications on my pull down menu (Tasker, Should I Answer, Adguard and Light Flow) on my Nexus 5x running latest 7.0 preview. Is there some way I can get rid of them? I know that I can disable the notifications but the apps warn that this may cause them to be shut down (especially as I have Greenify running whenever I turn off the screen as I am unrooted). Basically, I want to clean up my pull down menu without having to root. Any help would be appreciated.

if you disable notifications within the apps there is a risk of termination as they are not running in the foreground anymore.
so instead try to disable notifications via the regular phone's setting, section notifications. there you can set notification-permissions per app.

Remove them from greenify if you have them in there. If you need to set a persistent notification then they should not be greenified in the first place.
Then disable the persistent notifications and see what happens.
Otherwise no there isn't a way and they need to be there for the apps usability.

Does block all notifications disable persistent notifications in the background?

As per the thread title Does block all notifications disable persistent notifications in the background?
Reason for asking is I am trying out forcedoze which needs a persistent notification to prevent it from being killed in the back ground but I do not like persistent notifications.
So if I block all notifications for forcedoze does it kill the persistent notification or merely prevent it from being shown on the pull down menu but it's still there but you cannot see it?
Prevent app doze / hibernation without persistent notification
Same here. I'm trying to have automatic call recorder pro not stop recording calls if i don't use its UI for a few days. One of its settings called "run in the background" - "wait for calls while running in the background" puts a persistent notification, which i have blocked. I hope that this notification blocking will not lead to the app getting automatically hibernated in the future.
-Android Nougat on the OnePlus 3T
If in Nougat, you can disable it and the app still running in background.
If in Oreo, if you disable it, Android own notification message will come out saying the app is still running in background and draining battery. If you have 2 or more apps running in background, it will be better to disable all apps notification and only have 1 Android notification informing about it.

Remove update notification?

Is there anyway to remove the persistent update notification other than actually updating the phone? Im rooted so if there is a system app to freeze or something like that i'd appreciate the info
Turn off the notification for Google Play Services (long press on the update notification itself to get to notification options).
well that was easy thnx m8

[Q] Notify Clean alternative?

I want to get rid of the "car mode" from my notification drop-down area when my Pixel is actively in Car Mode.
Notify Clean would do it, but Xposed isn't available for Nougat yet.
I can't seem to find anything in a Google search for Notify Clean alternatives.
Has anyone come across something or might know of a way to get rid of that Car Mode from the Notification Panel?
Not sure what you mean by "car mode", but if it's Android Auto or another app, try turning off notifications in Settings, Apps.
This Car Mode message in the attached screenshot.
I don't have any options for it to block.
I can block all Android System messages or none, there is no option to block just this one message (that I can find).
Notify Clean would have had the option.
I don't use Android Auto.
I realize this thread is old as heck, but https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autonotification&hl=en works AMAZINGLY on android pie, even got rid of the tedious snapchat "_____ is typing" notifications.
