Hello everyone, i have a problem with my wifi, its dropping connection everytime.
I have full wifi connection (router stands next to me) and for example wenn i use ES Datei Explorer for copy a file from phone to qnap nas (smb), it starts to copy (around 7 mbyte/s) and then its speed is going down to 0 for some seconds and then it stops copying with error.
i am currently at stock 14.6.A.1.236 with root and locked bootloader, but it happens at every localisation, flashed different ones.
now i have no waranty rest but at the last waranty-day is send it to repair because of a lot things and also the wifi problem. So they said they changed the wifi antenna, but it changed nothing.
I also tested different threads in this forum, but nothing helped.
bluetooth and lte off while testing, no change.
Next thing i will test is custom rom and unlocked bootloader, but i really like sony stock firmware because of the nice camera.
Does anyone have any idea i can do?
Model: D5503
Locked Bootloader
14.6.A.1.236 Stock Rooted
Dualrecovery
So now i am on AICP - 12.1 - N 7.1 amami, and it still drops when transfering a big file, see screenshot.
Does anybody have an idea?
same issue here, unfortunately my version has "bootloader unlock allowed = NO", so i can't try CM based roms

I bought a Defy second hand on ebay locked to T-Mobile UK. I don't have a T-Mobile SIM so I booted it up to test over wifi. However the wifi will only connect if I switch my router to G, and even when it does say it is connected I can't get on the net despite every other PC in the house working fine. I even changed the networks to open to rule out the security but with no luck.
Since I can't do an official update without a SIM (Or so the Motorola software tells me, I wonder what would happen if I went ahead) I was thinking of rooting and installing a custom ROM to see if this helps. However, obviously if I do this I won't be able to dispute the purchase on ebay so I want your advice before I plough on.
Do you think that a custom ROM will fix my wifi issue or is it more likely to be a faulty Defy that the seller has fobbed off on me?
Cheers.
from a technical point of view i dont think that the defy's hardware is faulty, i've heard of such wifi issues with some routers, even had some with mine with an early version of pays rom, so a custom rom will probably solve your problem.
and i recommend a custom rom over any official blur crapped software.
try miui.
Well I went ahead and put on the MIUI ROM but it has the same issue! Does this phone require a SIM to do anything? Do I need to be signed into a google account just to go on to the net?

I just updated my wife's defy to 2.2 this morning using MSU and it didn't have a SIM in it, it is for her birthday and i didn't want her to wonder why i wanted her SIM card.
All went smoothly.
Man i sugest first flash the nordic sbf FULL and after you flashed the sbf the play with custom roms like miui or cyanogen mine camed locked on orange i flashed the nordic 177 full sbf and after that it was all ok
RSDLite just gave me told me it failed when I tried the Nordic ROM.0x1700
I tried with the TMobile UK stock SBF file but it sticks in a boot loop between the Moto blur logo and TMobile. I flashed the 2.21 boot but no joy.
I flashed a T-MObile UK Froyo ROM and it boots and connects to open G wifi. Still no internet however.
i had the same problem connectiong to n-draft router, the connection got lost after some seconds. my solution was to edit the tiwlan.ini with root-explorer and change HT_Enable=0 to HT_Enable=1
you have to give the file write permission to save.
Chers for the tip, but now I discover this damn ROM is not rootable. At least, not with z4root.
Super one click did the job, but the file you mentioned already has HT_Enable = 1
***I managed to get the nor ROM to flash by running as admin and giving it a short name and putting it in the root directory! But guess what? Still no internet despite strong wifi signal. I don't know how to downgrade now to the original ROM. The one listed as T-Mobile UK 2.1 doesn't boot.
Now the phone isn't recognised by RSD at all. The white LED comes on though, there is some sign of life.
Bought a battery charger to charge the battery externally but still no joy when I plug the phone into a computer.
***nvm somehow it's working now. Flashing the nor ROM.
None of the SBF files seem to work now. Either I get a blank screen on boot or they get as far as the Moto logo (or android in the case of the nor rom) and loop.
Is it safe to flash other countries SBFs and then change the language?
can you try other people's wifi to see if you will encounter the same problem? if you don't then youneed to configure your router. flashing other country's sbf is ok, then use baseband switcher incase you have signal problems. wipe first before flashing
Hi there, my first post.
I've used arco68's guide to root my S4 mini LTE (serranoltexx) and flashed the CyanogenMod 11 M9 snapshot (cm-11-20140804-SNAPSHOT-M9-serranoltexx.zip), but the WiFi isn't working properly. Sometimes it connects (very rarely), but most of the time it just says "Connecting", "Authenticating..." and then goes back to say "Saved, secued with WPA" and the process repeats again.
I've tried flashing the following ROMs, but the WiFi isn't working properly on either of them:
cm-11-20140804-SNAPSHOT-M9-serranoltexx.zip (current)
cm-11-20140708-SNAPSHOT-M8-serranoltexx.zip
cm-11-20140813-NIGHTLY-serranoltexx.zip
Other things I've tried so far:
Using CM File Manager to delete contents of /data/misc/wifi and rebooting, as described here, but it didn't help.
Installed SQLite Debugger, went to Settings Storage > setttings.db > Global, where I wanted to change the value of wifi_display_on to 0 as described here, but it was already set to 0, so no luck here.
Changed the Region Code in WiFi settings (as described here) to United States, then to Europe, but this didn't help either.
Installed the latest nightly update, but still nothing.
Basically, I've tried everything I could find, but the WiFi still doesn't work, and I have no idea why. I don't want to downgrade to CM 10.2, since later when I decide to upgrade to CM 11, I'd need to wipe all the data and make a clean CM11 install. Also, I don't want to flash any other ROM except CM, so telling me to install Paranoid Android or anything else wouldn't help.
If you have any ideas how to solve this, that would be great! Also, feel free to ask for any additional details.
Update: I've just discovered that it connects to open WiFi networks without any problems (though I've only tried it on 2 so far), so probably WPA encryption or my old home router can be the cause of the problem. I can only change my home router to WPA (it doesn't work with WPA2), so I've yet to try it on another router supporting WPA2. If that works, it would solve the whole problem! I'm ashamed to say I haven't thought of this earlier...
Update 2: I just tested it on a WPA2-protected WiFi network and it connects without problems. The most likely conclusion seems that CM11 has some problem with WPA, so for the time being I'll switch to another router with WPA2. Hopefully gets fixed with the next snapshot!
Hi everyone,
I hope you can help me with an issue I have. It only pops up on the 14.6.A.0.368 firmware. I have tried Customized DE, Customized NL and Customized CE1. And I experience it with all.
When I revert to 14.5.A.0.270 the issue is gone. Also on CM12 I have no problems.
In my search I have not found others with this issue, so keeping to ITIL standards I will not call it a problem .
Here it goes:
Bluetooth disconnects. When connecting to my car stereo ( Renault Clio MediaNav ) the phone will connect, be registered by the stereo ( as indicated by the battery charge indicator on the stereo's screen ) and then disconnect again. With the error: "Unfortunately, Bluetooth share has stopped." See attached image.
I have included the Logcat I made of 2 cycles of connecting and failing. 1 Zipped and 1 filtered on Bluetooth.
Now for the strange part a work arround; If I reboot my phone it connects just fine. But only the first minute after the reboo. Any time longer then that even if no BT connection was made or BT was off and it will fail as stated above.
Well it seems a newer Firmware is out, Not for "My" region yet, but Im going to try Customized DE. See if that fixes it.
If I don't update you can consider it fixed.
Edit: What worked for me was flashing D5503_Customized DE_1279-6978_14.5.A.0.270_R1D prerooted DualRecovery.zip . Restoring all settings trough TitaniumBackup,
Connecting to the Bluetooth device I had trouble with. Verrify that it functions correctly.
and then flash the newest firmware 14.6.A.1.216 ( Also Custom DE ) with flashtool ( excluding Cust-Reset and Fota-Reset ) keeping all user data.
Now BT works as intended.
Why a clean install of the 2 latest rom versions gave issues for me, I still don't know.
I already had this problem with ICS (I never upgraded to KK) but only occasionally - Ever since I upgraded to Lollipop (5.1.1 French version) the phone constantly loses the connection to the network (and of course also to the data) while WIFI works perfectly, rebooting the device things are back in place, until I move again(specially inside the house).
At first I installed the TWRP recovery (full wipe) and the rooted the phone, then thinking to solve this BIG trouble I flashed Lollipop again, remade the wipe of all, left all the bloatware that the first time I had eliminated - but it didn't worked - instead of the triangle where usually appear the notches of the connection there is an "access denied icon", and when I try to call appears the message: "NOT CONNECTED TO THE NETWORK" - by the way I can not receve calls too while in this state (unreachable).
Has anybody had the same problem or can help me anyway? Should I downgrade to KK or ICS? (but I'm reading that's not going to be possible from 5.1.1!) Maybe I can try flashing another Modem? The rest of the telephone is perfect, battery consumption is better, camera, movies, fluidity: everything is ok but the telephone!
My BASE BAND is N7505XXUDOK4 and my BUILD VERSION is LMY47X.N7505POUDOK2. Thanks
:crying:
Hi all,
New poster to the forums - I tried searching but no identical issues or solutions were found so sorry if this has been solved multiple times before..
My Z5 E6653 WiFi is not working - I go and turn it on and it will say "Searching for Wi-Fi Networks" however it never stops this or finds networks - even when there are many networks around.
I tried factory resetting, also flashed to stock 7.1.1 as per https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/general/ftf-e66xx-patched-kernels-google-drive-t3688365 (steps 1-14).
Phone diagnostics say that wifi is working correctly. I tried repairing with sony pc companion tool however apparently my device is a "prototype" (bought off ebay) and repair is always cancelled by an error message.
With mobile tethering I can turn it on but the network is not found by any surrounding device..
At this stage I am leaning towards a possible hardware issue, as wifi was previously working at least a few weeks ago..
Would unlocking bootloader etc. and flashing a custom kernel help possibly?
Some further info:
Android Version 7.1.1
Kernel version: 3.10.84-perf-g99119bc
Build Number 32.4.A.1.54
Thanks

Hi, it seems that your wifi antenna is the problem, or antenna cable. But aniway it cant be fixed without opening your phone.

Thanks. My mobile data reception works so I assume the antenna is fine and it may just be wifi module / wifi antenna?
Thanks
