I have a LG G4 which I have been using along my 128gb micro sd card.
One night the phone just restarted itself a couple of times then displayed a message that the additional memory is not supported.
since then I have removed and reinserted the card a couple of times, restarted the phone multiple times but the phone seems not to pick up the card.
Can anyone help?

Try putting it in PC if reconized may be an issue with the card reader. If not It may be corrupted or damaged sd card.
Only other thing would be if picked up by PC try formatting the card but you will lose any data on card

This morning I got a notification that it was safe to remove my SD Card. I thought that was random and funny so I went into Solid Explorer to see and it said that my SD Card was empty. I checked in the Storage option in the Settings menu, and it didn't pick up the card. It only said "Mount SD Card, Insert SD Card." I removed and inserted the card a few times with no luck. After restarting, the phone told me the SD Card was Blank. I clicked on that notification and it prompted me to format the card. I tried to format it but it didn't work. I just kept telling me the card was blank and I'd need to reformat it. Finally, after plugging the phone into my computer, it's not even recognized as a card on the phone. Can someone help me please? Is this a hardware issue? Did the card reader on my S3 just crap out or is it something I can fix with some software fix?
Thanks in advance.

I could be the card that has failed. Do you have a card reader that you can use to mount the card on a PC (without the phone)? Do you have another card to try in the phone. It is one or the other that has failed but you will have to try out the combinations to see which has failed. I have seen cheap cards fail and become unrecognizable. I think that is more likely than the phone card slot failing.

Thanks for the reply. I'm starting to suspect/hope it's something wrong with the card itself as opposed to the slot. Unfortunately I don't have my old card or another reader around to test (I'm stuck at work). I may try to skip out to buy a new card and see if that does the trick.
Has this happened to anyone?
I am on GB. THe SD basically causes the phone to freeze when i try to access any of the settings. What are my options here? to reformat the card? i looked at the card on a laptop and the contents seemed ok. THe SD card is a sandisk Class 10 32GB card. I haven't installed any new apps for the past couple of weeks so i don't think this is a problem

I`d copy everything off the card to my hard drive , then reinsert the card into the phone and reformat it via the phone software , then let the phone set itself back up with the empty card and see if it works . But...that working around the issue (if it works) , the root cause I`d guess as a corrupted setting on the SD card . For the record , mine sometimes throws a stroppy (every couple of months) and says the card isnt there , the tried and tested turn off/on worked for me .
b/Have you copied any program across to the SD card ? I`d try copying them back to the phone
I'm having some strange issues with my S3 and micro SD cards. I noticed any attempt to access one of the folders will force crash any app that tries.
Then I did a nandroid backup from TWRP recovery and when I rebooted the phone, it claimed that the card was empty or damaged.
So I connected the card to my computer to backup everything that was there. Windows did say it needed to be scanned for errors but it didn't find any errors. It was formatted as exFat so I could put larger than 4 GB files on it.
When I put it back in my S3 it wasn't detected at all. No error messages, it was just as if I hadn't put any card in. Under Storage settings, under mount external SD card it just says to insert a card.
What I've found since then is in order to get the S3 to recognize that there is a card I need to do a full format (either FAT32 or exFAT) on my computer. If I do a quick format, it still won't be recognized. I need to do a full format.
But then, if I unmount and connect to my computer, then eject from my computer and put it back in my S3 it isn't detected again and I have to do a full format again.
I thought maybe the card had become defective, but I'm seeing the exact same behaviour now with a different card. The first one I was using was a class 10 32 GB lexar card. The second one is a class 10 16 GB Adata card. Both do the same thing. After a full format on my computer, they are detected on the phone but after unmounting, mounting on my computer, not doing anything except ejecting it, they stop being detected by the S3.
I've even tried re-formatting the card in the phone but that doesn't change anything.
Anyone know what's going on here? Is the phone defective? I don't want to send the phone in for warranty repair except as a last resort as I suspect that would mean several weeks without a phone.
Thanks!
for some reason yesterday my phone won't recognize the sd card. i know many people will as if i've reformatted the card. the answer is no. earlier in the day i was able to access the photos i had stored on the sd card and everything was fine. lastnight i was deleting some pictures on the internal memory and the folder that have my external memory pics had a "broken" image icon. i pulled the battery and sd, reinserted and none of the sd pics were available. i went into the menu and the phone says to mount sd/insert card (sd card is already inserted). i inserted the sd into an adapter and connected to my pc and the pc won't recognize the sd. i even inserted a different sd into my phone and the phone still didn't recognize. i haven't dropped my phone or exposed it to any moisture. the phone suddenly won't mount the card. i'm thinking the sd tray in the phone is glitched but it's so sudden considering i take really good care of the phone. the phone wasn't plugged in when this happened. any ideas on a resolution? thank you in advance.
I was having problems with running crdroid with a micro sd card inserted it would bootloop every time I inserted the SD card. No matter what brand I tried.
What I did was to use it In a otg adaptor and see if that would work phone bootlooped right away. Took the otg adaptor plugged it in the pixel phone I had and went to setting formated it and ejected it from the storage option before taking g out.
Then I swapped the micro SD card otg into the Motorola g7 power the phone did not bootloop but then went into storage and formatted card took out of otg and inserted it in the phone before restarting the phone I went back and setup the memory card and restarted the phone. And everything was working great no issues with the boot looping on crdroid
I suppose you don't need a otg just the card needs to be formatted by a android phone and formatted by it the most important thing is you need to push the eject button next to the SD card In your storage settings before removing the card then you can insert the card in the Motorola g7 power. Just its important that you eject the card wvwrytkme before you remove it or it will cause issues with this phonr
