Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone has a car stereo with bluetooth capabilities. I have been looking at getting one myself. For the longest time I used a treo 650 and had an FM transmitter hooked up to the audio port so I could hear my music and GPS programs over the stereo. Since the Touch only has the mini USB out and I have yet to find a fm transmitter that uses this interface I've basically been stuck using the rear speaker on the phone.
I have seen a bunch of car stereos that are bluetooth capable. I realize that they have to be able to play streaming music via bluetooth and not just handsfree to get the full "stereo effect". My question.... Has anyone tried this out or knows anyone that has used it. Also, how would hands free actually work via the stereo?
Thanks!
Aaron
hmmm..why not just get a bluetooth receiver with a 3.5mm jack. I'm currently using the itech bluetooth clip radio and am able to output stereo music from my touch to my speakers. It also doubles as my handsfree when i'm out and about.
As you mentioned you're using an FM transmitter hooked up to the audio port of your car speakers, this would be something very similar to your existing setup and probably a lot cheaper than getting those bluetooth speakers you mentioned
I needed to replace my car stereo as it is because the display didnt work. Just figured I would upgrade and get one that had bluetooth capabilities but it would seem either no one has tried to play music through a deck with bluetooth capalities here OR that not one has read the thread. Either way I think I'll at least spend the cash and see what happens. Wost comes to worse I just bring it back
Also.. I was going for the whole LESS wires thing.. Having a bluetooth reciever with a 3.5 mm jack that goes to an fm transmitter just.. yeah thats alot of clutter. I'd like to have it where the touch is mounter to the dash (as it is now) and all I need to do is push a button on the car stereo deck and the sound is routed though there. Having the phone plugged in is one thing but then having an fm transmitter and a bluetooth reciever and what not all over the dash is just a pain in the ass I think.
im using the sony/Erikson mbr-100 bluetooth stereo receiver with 3.5 jack. works great.

Is there anything specific I should be looking for. Just.. basically that it can played streemed music and not just hands free correct? That way ALL of the audio will play through the stereo.. not just the phone calls

The magic phrase you're looking for is A2DP. That's the Bluetooth protocol for streaming music from one device to another.
I got a Parrot MK6100 for Christmas, which is a dedicated hands-free kit that plugs into the back of the OEM head unit in my '99 Audi. The MK6100 is both a hands-free for the phone and a streaming music player for the phone too. It's excellent so your proposed solution might be perfect for you if your new head unit delivers the same functionality as this Parrot.
ALL the audio from my Touch is delivered through the car's speakers, including screen taps, TomTom directions, music and so on. There are some caveats though, caused by the Touch rather than the Parrot, I think:
Although the phone functionality works perfectly (it's actually very impressive - I just get in the car and it works straight away) playing music is more complex. I have to reconnect the phone's A2DP output to the car kit before I start the HTC Audio Manager, and I have to exit the Audio Manager before shutting down the car kit, otherwise it crashes and requires a soft reset for the Touch before it'll work again. I think WMP is more reliable but it doesn't integrate into the HTC Cube or HTC Home utilities so it's not a desirable solution for me.
I recommend you test the bluetooth streaming functionality with your Touch and the head unit before you buy the head unit if you can - you might find an incompatibility.

Sorry just saw this post was updated..anyway the clip radio does have A2DP and AVRCP support. Also, there is no need to use the FM transmitter. I mentioned similar..not use existing
but yes there will be a wire going from your speakers into the 3.5mm jack of the bluetooth receiver. If you want it completely wireless, then you will need speakers that have a built in bluetooth receiver..not sure where you can get one though..

You can find it on www.parrot.biz.
I also have a question about htc touch and my head unit Alpine IDA X001.
I'm thinking to buy the Alpine bluetooth adaptater KCE-300BT which works with the head unit i have.
With this adaptater the head unit can display your last calls and let your browse in the phonebook.
Do you think that it will work with the HTC Touch (Windows Mobile 6) I have ??
Thanks
Here are the specs of the BT adaptater of Alpine :
SECTION BLUETOOTH
Version Bluetooth Bluetooth 1,1 CERTIFIÉE
Puissance de sortie +4 dBm Max. (Power class 2)
Profil HFP (Profil mains libres)
HSP (Profil casque téléphonique)
A2DP (Profil de distribution audio avancée)
AVRCP (Profil de télécommande audio/vidéo)
I have the SONY MEX BT2500 CD MP3 CAR STEREO that I had for Christmas and fitted myself. I am really impressed with this unit and it works really well, it also works as a bluetooth hands free.

Hello there,
I have Blaupunkt Hamburg MP68 and the bluetooth on it is excelent. Both handsfree & streaming working fine.
I have bought a Blaupunkt Hamburg MP68 stereo. I am very satisfied by this unit, it is a very complex device and it provides even a built-in bluetooth car-kit.
However there is an issue that I cannot work out: I can't get the stereo to download the phonebook from my HTC HD2 phone.
Both stereo and phone support the PBAP profile (phone book access), but the I always get the message "DOWNLOAD FAILED" on the stereo.
I have noticed that the "Dev A" profile (serial port) from phone's Bluetooth menu has a configuration option named "Local COM port", which was automatically set to COM2. Among the options, there is one called "ActiveSync" (as seen in the attached screenshot). I think that this might be the solution. Can anyone confirm my theory? I can't get to the car sooner than 4 hours from now.....
May be worth posting this in the HD2 forums as well. it has a much newer os with newer features then the touch does, by some 3 years. I do realise that this thread may be related, but people in the HD2 section may be more aware with any bluetooth features specific to the phone as well.
No need to do it, but thanks for the tip. 10 minutes ago I have tested the "ActiveSync" port setting and it works fine: all phone contacts are downloaded into the car stereo.
Cheers!
Grats for doing it then
Heya,
for a long time i have been looking for some decent bluetooth stereo headset.
now it has come down to two models. well, actually one only
my choice: motorola s9
and the second possibility: Motorola T820
from reading the comments on amazon on those devices i realize that my phone needs to be A2DP compatible to get the best sound out of the headset.
i use s2p as music player and i know it is A2DP compatible... but is real question is: is my phone (HTC P3300 WM6) compatible with this tecnology
also: if you can suggest any other good headsets, please do so.
key features i seek:
- able to use on my phone and pc
- a2dp
- good sound and microphone quality
a2dp not working
Hi,
I have HTC artemis. I recently purchased wireless bluetooth stereo headsets (Jabra bt325)
I cannot connect it to use as wireless stereo. Its working fine as handsfree. After pairing, I cannot see wireless stereo option. Its Greyed. I know that artemis is A2DP compatible.
But i am sure that headset is fine because I tested it with n95 and it worked fine.
Please give me a solution.
Try this:
Start - settings - connections - bluetooth - and add new device
If your headset is already added, use your stylus and press on the bluetooth headset name until the following menu comes up:
Edit
Delete
Set as Hands-free
Set as Wireless Stereo
Choose no. 4
yes it is.
I'm using Dopod M700 which is the P3300 w/o the GPS module.
It works with dell BH200 BT stereo headset and also the o2 BT stereo earphones.
It works on joint stereo in WM5 and since its now running WM6.1 its real stereo.
Dell BH200
Hi thanks for the suggestion even after setting the Bluetoot head set as "set as Handsfree" it did not work, as soon as I receive or make a call the head set goes off, looks like its some compatibility with A2DP not sure, if some one has done some development or found a patch to make this work would be a great help

might be a specific problem of your headset model.
i use a motorola s9 and it's quite nice. fits nice, does not disturb after hours, controls work fine, calling works fine...
BUT (and there's always a but) it has some major drawbacks i found out. while it's still nice to listen music without wires, i encounter this problems. which MIGHT be due the phone, not the headset... but i have no way to test that.
so, basicly, P3300 + motorola S9 through A2DP:
- insides works like a charm. phone in my belt, headset on. music cuality nice with some small music interrupts every now and then (maybe once per 5 minutes). phone calls nice and i can hear and they can listen me well.
but my oh my when i get on the street...
- constant music interrupts every 15 seconds. i have hang the phone around my neck so it's where my chest is to not get interrupts so often (still get one every 2-3 minutes)
- as the mic is where the ear is, if i have a call, it's impossible to hear me due the background noise. this also applies to the underground/metro. it's not that bad in a bus
and well. without A2DP enabled my music player uses so little resources the phone still works fine...
if A2DP is enabled, the phone gets REAL slow and the battery drain is MASSIVE.
when this motorola S9 break... i'll get another model to test. and when that breaks i'll probably get back to some nice wired ones (unless the CPU issues and the battery drain on the phone gets solved) ... but maybe i actually change the phone before that happens. who knows.
Hi!
I have a car stereo with bluetooth handsfree included (JVC KD-BT1), but it stopped working a year ago or so. At first I was always thinking the car stereo is broken, because all other bluetooth handsfree sets seemed to work fine.
But when I tried an Android 2.3.5/ base 3.06.405.1-ROM, everything was working fine. I verified this by using several ROMs with different bases and so far, only Android 2.3.5/3.06.405.1 seems to work. Therefore my only choice at the moment are DeSense and Honeywonder3D.
It seems to be a problem of my car stereo, but unfortunately I couldn't find a possibility to do a firmware upgrade...
Maybe some of the all-knowing ROM devs have an idea on how to integrate the bluetooth package from the latest version/base to other ROMs, maybe somebody made the same experience with the car stereo and managed to solve it?
Hello,
i´ve got the same problem with this Car Stereo.
Did you find a solution?
I´ve got a Samsung Galaxy Nexus und Bluetooth would be great!
I have a LG Nitro HD running on AT&T. The phone came pre-loaded with 2.3.5. The bluetooth phone part works as I can make and receive calls with my car (Suzuki Kizoshi 2010), but the audio over bluetooth doesn't work. The phone part works as I can make and receive calls. This is very important for me to be able to play the audio over bluetooth as I have a long commute to work and like to listen to my music. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You.
It's been about a month and still no solution. Has anyone else come across this problem?
I do not have this problem. I have a Pioneer X930BT headunit in my car and my Nitro streams audio over bluetooth (A2DP) to it perfectly as well as phone calls.
Have you tried streaming Sirius or spotify over bluetooth? I found that the only app on the phone that streams audio to my car correctly is the pre-installed audio app that comes with the phone.
I can confirm google music and napster stream great over bluetooth. I have not used spotify or sirius for android.
Are you sure your car supports audio profile?
I stream spotify, tunein radio every day through bluetooth.
Spotify actually pauses when bluetooth connection is lost which is great for getting out of the car. I wish TuneIn would do it.

I have had the same problem with my nitro, it will automatically connect the phone but the media (A2DP) seems to drop automatically after connection. I've found if I manually re-connect to the receiver both will stay connected.
(settings > Wireless & Network > Bluetooth settings > *tap device name*)
I, like you, use it every time I'm in the car so it's annoying but it's a fix until there is a valid solution like a update or properly built rom.
In your case I would delete all the phone profiles from the car memory and re pair them. A lot of cars have a seperate a2dp profile for streaming music and if you pair them seperately the car stereo thinks that it needs to be paired only with the cell phone while the phone says that is paired with phone and audio.
It is not a LG Nitro 4g issue. Updates/firmware would not fix it.

That seems to be your problem JoTomlin and Kaiser. Before I installed my new headunit in my subaru I had tons of issues with my captivate playing music over bluetooth because the car had seperate profiles for A2DP and handsfree. When I got my new headunit which has a single profile containing both A2DP and handsfree it all worked without headache on the captivate and now the nitro. This is a problem with your car stereo. If its anything like my subarus, it would prefer to connect to handsfree and it would have to physically disconnect handsfree to connect A2DP (I would have to manually connect via the bluetooth menu). I solved it by getting a tunelink bluetooth audio receiver so handsfree would connect to the stereo and to the tunelink at the same time. Eventually I got tired of that and bought a new headunit.
Apparently a lot of people have swapped out their factory Kizashi factory head units for something better. But again, you'll want to bug Suzuki about something like this.
FWIW, I can stream Pandora just fine over a VW headunit with factory bluetooth. I do have to sometimes to a reconnect/pair though.
Has anyone figured out this issue? I stopped using my Nitro for about 5 months and then just recently updated it with 4.0.4, but still have the audio issue. My Samsung Galaxy SII doesn't have this issue. It's frustrating because I really like the Nitro. The Bluetooth audio is a huge issue though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Did you factory reset after updating?
On Sunday I received Nougat Update for my OnePlus3. Everthing is working fine for me, but Bluetooth A2DP in my Car (Golf 6 GTI with RNS510) is very faulty. My Radio doesn´t show any Information about Musik, Steering wheel buttons doesn´t work. If i connect Xperia XZ from my Brother it is working well, so car is not faulty. Does any other of you have this problem or an fix for that?
thx

im having issues too. AA stays connected but im getting disconnects from my Laser Jammer/Radar detector every 2-3 minutes
Same here with my whitings activity steel HR : got the sync but lost notifications

Lot of people have Bluetooth A2DP/Synch problems after Nougat update. Some said that the same problems were also at the beginning from 6.0. One Plus has fixed it. Now we have the same problems with 7.0.
I am happy that I am still on 6.0.1
I have issues too with my Honda Civic 2016. The car contact my phone but the phone can't see the car, so the phone ask me to enter pin which are wrong because on my system, the car have to find the phone and generate random numbers to confirm. Since i cannot do this process now, i can't connect my phone in Bluetooth. Happened since updated to Nougat, i'm using the old fashion Jack Cable now while waiting a fix.

i have the same issue with may one plus3 on 7.1.1 and my golf 7.
It just works when i switch off bluetooth. Start playback on my phone and then activate bluetooth again. but song information works only for a few songs.
Had these with the stable one, too. Beta15 fixed it for me, so next stable will be for you I guess.
