LCD Digitizer replacement - Xiaomi Mi Max Questions & Answers

Hello guys....not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question but will see what the mods do...
Recently, the digitizer cracked on my phone - everything worked fine but there was a hairline crack. Thought I would get it professionally replaced here in USA - but none of the "professionals" have even heard of Xiaomi! Damn, blame Samsung and Crapple for this! Anyways, finally located a "professional" who said he will replace the screen as long as I purchase the parts for him. I bought the LCD/Digitizer set and gave it to him who fixed it quite well. But sadly, the touch isn't working great. There are ghost touches and I am hardly able to use the phone. Professional blames the parts and I have contacted the seller on Ebay to get a refund or replacement.
Can you suggest a good place to purchase these parts from? Secondly, do you think it is a problem with the new parts that I replaced with? Or did the "professional" screw up?

Anyone know where to get HTC mainboards?

I've recently gotten into the hobby of buying broken phones and reselling them for just enough more to cover my costs. (that's why i'm calling it a hobby).
However, I recently purchased a pretty smashed up Tilt - it needed a new LCD and an entirely new housing.
After investing that $140, I've come to find that the mainboard is probably bad, as it wont power on.
Rather than toss my money in the crapper, I want to see about replacing the mainboard, but cant find ANYONE who sells them online...perhaps I'm searching by the wrong terms, but I'm no web n00b...and I'm coming up blank.
Does anyone know of a reputable website whereby I can purchase items like the mainboard for the Tilt? Does anyone who reads these forums WORK for HTC, and like to strike a deal?
Please, PM me if you know anyone that sells these hard-to-find HTC parts...
Thanks!!
- M
You might as well have just bought a new one!
Your best bet is to buy a broken one off Ebay, mainboards will be the domain of HTC repair specialists only and will probably need to be bought in bulk. They would also no doubt cost more than a broken second-hand device would.
Would be a rather boring hobby, buying working phones, dont you think?
But yes, this one is costing me a bit more than I care to admit....fortunately, I think I can probably sell off parts and recoup some of the money spent.... at least, once I call off the search for a replacement mainboard.
i remember trying to source a mainboard for an athena a while back and it was akin to getting blood out of a stone! I rang everyone i could find the number for and got no-where. You can buy a tilt for about 150gbp on ebay so one with a broken screen and housing damage (but a functioning mainboard) would doubtless set you back very little

Hello.
I recently killed my HTC TyTN II.
I know it needs a working Mainboard.
I want to give you an idea, about my 2 cents as Mcmexican says.
You need to go to a HTC Taiwain site and regiter as a Reseler or repairer. Probably you can get these kind of things in deeper sources.
Im telling you that, cause youre saying you have the hobbie to fix them. Me to,but im unemployed, trying to get a job,im broke. So it seems i dont have time and economic positive status to do it myself. And im in Portugal, momentaniously in an Economic crisis..
Im on an exausting search, cause im in an unknown new town, and need the GPS,that my Qtek 9100 doesnt have..
PPl in this forum could work all together to also get Mainboards at a affordable price, for ppl with less economic positive status.
I will start a new thread about that.
Thanks for reading this ppl.
We need Mainboards at a fair price .

Display screen digitizer + LCD repalcement. HELP!!!

Hi sorry to bother I'm looking for a replacement of the whole display screen digitizer + LCD.
Does anybody can recommend a good one.
I've been searching on amazon but mayority of people complain about that the digitizer stop working on the repalcement after a while.
Any help appreciated.
There really isn't any "good one". If you want one that works, get an OEM one made by HTC.
Hey,
I think this might help you!
http://compare.ebay.com/like/290659299424?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y&cbt=y
Of course the higher you go the quality will probably be better but for $15 with free shipping I dont think you can go wrong if the first place, if it does not last long just order a new one!
If you have TEP you are better off getting it replaced by sprint for a new phone.
Good luck!
If I helped please hit that thanks button!
Stevo
I found a used OEM front panel (LCD & digitizer) in good shape on ebay shipped for $50. The guys at my sprint store are cool and installed it for me. That's half what asurion gets and you keep your software setup

There are two different LCD connectors, a wipe one and a "normal" one. The ONLY way to see what one your phone has is to open it up.

[Q] Recomendation for buying a screen replacement

Hi, I'm new here so apologizes if I break any forum etiquette
Some days ago I accidentally dropped my Galaxy Nexus i9250 and shattered the screen.
Looking around I found that I need to get he digitizer plus LCD screen since they are fused, I found a couple of alternatives in ebay but I'm not sure which one to get.
Basically I'm between two options, the first one is a LCD + Touch Screen Digitizer +Front Cover Replace and the second one is just the digitizer and LCD screen.
Of course I want to get the most closer to the original part and although the first seller told me it's the original part I'm not sure about it.
In the second item you can actually see the Samsung logo so that's probably an original part.
Do anybody has a suggestion about which way to follow?
I would post links to the items in ebay but I can't cause I'm new.
Thanks,
Javier

It's been discussed in several threads, people usually say it's better to send it to samsung and let them fix it than buying the digitizer+lcd , coz in terms of money u wouldn't be saving much if u're planning to buy the parts urself.
P.s. posting in Q&A might have been more proper, plus u'd probably get more answers and ideas

Thanks, the problem is that I'm in a country where the Galaxy Nexus isn't sold, so I talked with Samsung and they told me that they can repare it but I have to send it to the US and they will mail it back to a mainland US address when fixed.
I did that once for a laptop and it took a lot of time and money, actually it will cost the same than getting a brand new phone.
This is why I need to do it myself.

Replacement Screen

Just checking, anyone selling or know where to get a somewhat cheap replacement screen for the t-mobile vibrant? Mine has a cracked corner and I figured it's about time I got it fixed so I can sell it or give it to someone else to use since I have some spare cash to buy a replacement screen for it.
Been checking ebay and the entire assembly goes for around $80-90, seems a bit expensive or at least a bit more than I want to spend on one. Local craigslist doesn't have any selling for parts with a good screen either.
Or is that about what I'd be paying for one, not sure if that is a reasonble price, Or if someone wants to buy my phone off me and fix it themself, let me know how much you'll offer for it rest of it works
mods please don't get angry at this if it's in wrong section, didn't seem like a Q&A thread since it isn't on phone functions, and a screen is an acessory
I would check craigslist or eBay and see if you can get lucky and selling a working phone (there was one listed around here the other day for $60, guess they didn't know they could get more $$)
Or see if you can find a whole non-working phone for parts. I've seen them go for $40.
Then, you've got extra parts. Prices for just screens and digitizers are sky high.
yeah I've looked for parts phone to buy but couldn't find any yet on ebay/craigslist :S
problem with having extra parts is I'd be tempted to keep buying more parts to put the extra parts to use lol

Wouldn't be a bad deal if you could keep finding parts, fix them up and sell them to someone who needs a great phone.
that's the thing, I don't want to be in the job of selling phones lol
I'm just interested in fixing the one I got

I guess that settles it. You'll just have to get that parts you need. If you have any extra you'll just have to force yourself to ship them to me.

Front glass broken

Hi there,
today I dropped my phone on the street and the front glass got broken. The phone is still fully working. Touchscreen and everything else works without problems.
A couple of months ago I changed the front glass of a Samsung Galaxy S4 with all the necessary stuff, e.g. loca glue. For the first trial the result was acceptable. No reading the other threads:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3522863
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3592043
most of the posters don't recommend the replacement of the front glass. On ebay I can find both only the frontglass (about 10€) and the full suited display (about 135€). If I take an offer from china, the price would lower to 65€. Another option would be to send the phone to Oneplus and let those guys repair it.
Now the decisions I have to made:
Just buying the front glass: Would be an option, if it is the same difficulty like the Samsung phones. But I've found only one Youtube Tutorial. At 1:45 he puts something on the screen, but not sure if it's clue or just something to clean.
Buying a display from China: for about 65€ would be also ok. This can take up to 6 weeks of shipping. And in some forums I've read the quality should be much lower than the original parts from Oneplus. Does anyone have any experience about this?
Sending to Oneplus ist the last option. But this depends on the price. I opened a ticket and now I'm waiting for their offer.
What would you recommend? Has anybody changed the frontglass and can tell me about the success?

Open the ticket mate. No fuss. You'll get your device going in maximum 2 weeks. I tried replacing the glass myself and failed, I cracked the screen half way through...
Buying from eBay... Idk, but if people say they're not original, why Risk? Then again there's the struggle of doing it yourself.
The cheapest and safest is to send it to ONEPLUS.
Cheers

I have replaced hundreds of screens in devices and for the most part it is cheaper and far easier then anything else.
Im about to replace my USB port myself as soon as my tool kit gets here on Monday.
I would never send a device to the OEM to be fixed. It will cost you twice as much plus the time without a device is just stupid.
I have always trusted these people with all the stuff I need to repair. Never trust some random Youtube video.

You could find a cheaper knock off im sure but I hold a simple believe when it comes to electronics. You get what you pay for. You buy cheap and you get cheap.
The USB port was like 4 bucks with 25 dollars shipping lol.

That's been my general experience as well, with probably the exception of Intel CPUs. Got my 1700X and is better for building than a 7700K or 8700K for almost half the price.

Got an answer from Oneplus:
Screen: EUR 57.20
Fingerprint Sensor: EUR 12.60
Labor: EUR 18.50
Vat: 23%
Total: EUR 108.61
Not sure, if there are any shippig costs to be added.

57 Euros doesn't sound bad actually especially if it's the regular screen.

What? It may suck to send your device away but why are you saying they charge you twice as much? That's misinformation. I sent mine and it only cost 80£ (labour and shipping included). Where can you buy an original display for 80 quid? Even the Knock offs from eBay cost more than that.

You are not adding in the cost of buying g another disposable device to use for the weeks your device is gone. That's for you. Do you know how much it would cost from the US for a repair?

Yep! Not gonna pay $400 to repair a device that is literally $100 something on Ebay or Swappa, and I am definitely not going to pay $400 for a device that is guaranteed going to bootloop again in only a years time. So I spent $300 and bought a new OP3. Originally got the V10 because as someone coming from IOS, I automatically thought all Android phones could be unlocked and rooted with ease, with some o them sweet custom ROMs. This guy didn't do his research and ended up with using LG's, horrible, horrible (I cannot stress this enough) software. Not to mention the extra thick layer of AT&T bloat behind it. I don't really care about the hardware in a phone, as long as its good enough to have the software run good.

I hear you there. I had a g2 for a while. Then moved to the nexus but the 6 had issues dealing with the cold. So got the 1+3 for a steal from a dev. To be honest. I wanted to hate it because the CEO is an idiot. But other then some crappy BT issues when on a weak wifi connection. (licensing issues I'm sure) and the fact it won't work with my smart watch. I really can't complain about about.
I replaced my Motherboard and Battery by sending it to Oneplus. I do live in the EU so that could be a big difference. But a DHL driver picked it up on Monday. And I got it back the same week on Friday fully repaired without additional costs. A screen replacement here costs about €100 which is not expensive at all.. The problem mainly is that original parts are very rare and mostly fake.
