Hello everyone,
I have looked everywhere on the threads, and it seems like I can't find any root information on my VS9862BA software version. I read in a thread that downgrading from MM to LL on a 2AA will cause the phone to be bricked. Is this true for the 2BA as well? Can I downgrade my G4 and then root like a normal G4? Help is greatly appreciated.
Nope. You have go back to 5.1 to ROOT and stay in 5.1
Verzion has made it impossible after 5.1 to ROOT but for other companies like AT&T, Etc. is Easy
Yes, you can downgrade from 2BA to 13B using LGUP PC software tool, then root using the methods posted in the VS986 XDA section.

Hi
I have an LG vs986 on 2ba I want badly to root in order to get 4g lte on T-mobile.
I tried to downgrade to 13b but got bricked and stuck on dl mode, thank god I was able to flash it back to 2ba.
Some threads on xda suggest that it's possible to downgrade to 13b only early version of mm not latest like 2ba.
Is that true?
If not please post some guide lines on how to do it.
Thanks for any help.
To what Root on MM? Just not the latest version? I've tried many ways but All Failed. When my time with Verizon is up I'm going to T-mobile or AT&T

have you done this personally on VS9862BA version cause i ended up having to flash back to MM after attempting downgrade...
That's my recollection and others have posted that they had successfully downgraded from 2BA to 13B in this thread too:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/downgrade-mm-to-ll-lgup-t3322616/
You have to use the correct dll file referenced in the thread.

I know my model is D855, but there are a lot of versions with the same name, i'm not sure which one is the right for me.
I'm running 5.0 Lollipop on my G3 and wanting to downgrade back to Kitkat for root. (I don't even know why i updated to Lollipop in the first place).
Also i need to download the correct software version that i need to downgrade to (ie. KitKat), but i cannot tell the difference.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Do some research into the LG Flash Tool.
As long as the software is compatible with D855 you''re good! There can be different builds such as (last 3 digits) 10r or 10c, but they are essentially the same thing with just minor changes. If it's cleared for the D855 you'll be good.
There is setup that must be performed on the Flash Tool, so make sure you follow the steps in various guides attentively. I would tell you what you need to do, but I cannot remember every detail.
A lot of the guides for downgrading will be found in the same areas as guides for rooting because downgrading must be done in order for some root methods to work.

Any kitkat build for the D855 will suffice. I remember doing TOT, but I'm not familiar with Kdz so I cannot answer that.
Just got my D851 with stock 5.0.1 preinstalled.
Its telling me to update the phone.
Has anyone updated via the air method?
Not sure what it is but wanted to be sure if its MM or 5.1.1 before I moved forward

As a rule of thumb if you plan to root, you should NEVER update. Updating will usually patch any exploits the devs use to root our phones. It depends on what you want to do with your phone down the line.... Update at your own risk.
@tiguy99, also it's definitely not MM. I'm not even sure 5.1.1 was ever released either.
I know the D851 has been unlocked from the get-go (didn't need bumping like the others in the past) but as the previous post alluded to, the OTA just might lock it down. Be sure and be careful.
LG G3 D851, PAC-MAN ROM, Tapatalk 4.9.5
Sorry, my post was not helpful. Here is something you can do: long press on the update notification and click on the "info" icon and disable the notification. This way you are less likely to accidentally update, and it won't bother you as much.

If it is a stock D851 running on Tmo, then the update is probably the recent update of 20e (released back on June 9) to 20g (released back in October). There has been a lot of that just within the last 60 days. However, it is still Android 5.0.1. Tmo has NOT upgraded our G3 to anything beyond 5.0.1 yet, but has committed to updating us to Marshmallow Android 6, probably sometime in the next 3 months.
As for the update, all 20g did was patch the Stagefright vulnerability that had been discovered back in August. That was a vulnerability in Lollipop wordwide on all carriers. Look at your phone info under settings. If you are on 20e, it will not hurt at all to upgrade. But in any case, the update you are seeing is DEFINITELY NOT 5.1.1 and it is DEFINITELY NOT Marshmallow. It is still 5.0.1. Good luck.
Please hit the THANKS button if I helped you.
I got mine week ago and updated it didn't root but used Newest Root Method in general section and finally got it.

That being said, I made the mistake of updating. Now I'm having a very hard time trying to root my D851 20g. Can I restore to Kitkat for the purpose of rooting?
Dude this is the wrong forum for a question like this. Should be in Q&A or General. You'll get better answers there.

No need. Google 'Newest root method' D851 xda download file thru your browser double click on windows batch file. Follow prompts. Hope this helps you out.
I too got my D851 last week. It had KK 4.2.2 and wanted to update. So I decided to go ahead and do the OTA. The final result was 5.0.1 D85120g. I don't think there are any higher updates yet. Rooted without issue using Newest Root Method mentioned above, again, without issue.

However, if you are still unsure, you can always downgrade to a lower version. You will have to do a search for D85110r in the KDZ file version and find the loader for that file. Took me a little time to find it but I have both the KDZ file and loader.

I believe it's because you've downloaded 20G. Probably got patched. Did the method I mentioned work out for you?

I'm a little behind on information. Does the 26a stop me from downgrading to 13b with LGUP? I was rooted by using the LGUP to downgrade but recently went back to stock with the lg flash tool. I may decide to go back to rooted if it permits.

Welcome!
The "security update" broke my wifi calling. I've tried rebooting, turning it off and on, turning wifi off and on... no luck... and of course i applied this update while visiting my family where cell reception is awful.
Does anyone know the LG download link to the 26A KDZ? I flashed the 25A kdz and it shows as Modified even after a Recovery Menu reset...connectivity and battery drain major issues also...
Did you find a link?
Hi, Bro, did you find a link for the download yet!? I am looking for the kdz files as well!!!
Looking for kdz as well, thanks.

I used LGUP first to downgrade from 26a to 13b kdz which is the original system ROM. I used the "Refurbish" method which completely erases everything before flashing the KDZ.
Once 13b KDZ was flashed I used the LG Root to flash the rootedsystem .img.
I can't post any links here yet but if you do a quick search on this forum you will find detailed instructions on how to proceed and all the necessary files you want to download. It's really not that difficult, just make sure you read and understand what you're gonna do so as to minimize any chance for mistakes.
Happy flashing!

Hi, there is alot of info about flashing and rooting the LG G3 on here. So much that I am confused. i have the D858HK dual sim variant i just want to make sure that i am going about it in the right way. I dont want to do something that was meant for the D855 single sim.
I recently flashed my D858HK to MM however i want to root my phone. I read that I can downgrade to L then root then flash with a prerooted zip to MM. I just need some assistance please to make sure I am doing the right thing and if my model is compatible.
Firstly, I downloaded the L firmware from the LGs site http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=41
however 20D is not available to download so i downloaded 20e (D858HK20e_00.kdz) for my phone. Will this one be ok for rooting?
Secondly, since my phone is D858HK which step should i use to downgrade using this guide? Should i use the LG Flash tool Step 1 or LGUP Step 3? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=64624353#post64624353
Thirdly, to root will the guide here work for L D858HK20e_00.kdz One Click Root? http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
Finally, after rooting I would like to flash using Artshell's prerooted MM zip or Fulmics Rom. Which one would you recommend?
Advice and guidance will be much appreciated.
Edit. Solved. Delete please
