Issue with Snapchat and Casper on HTC 10 - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Gents,
Greetings,
I dont know whether I am posting in the right forum, my issue is I am trying to login with both official SC as well as Casper, there is an option in Casper that letting you use the same snapchat session (menu - use snapchat session [root]) it requires root permission, as my phone is already rooted but I still cannot use that feature, casper cannot detect that I am logged in snapchat, it is trying to find snapchat com.snapchat.android_preferences.xml which must be located at /data/data/com.snapchat.android but it fails.
The issue is that even if I used root explorer, I couldn't find that folder, while on my samsung tab this folder is available
Any assistance will be much appreciated...

are you using magisk? set it to hide snapchat, and it will log in

Magisk will absolutely solve your snapchat app login error. Plus it is supersu capable. Most phones work with it. I'm using Magisk with snapchat on the HTC 10, works perfect.

Actually magisk might affect xposed, also snapchat is working, the issue is tgat casper is not detecting I am logged in snapchat because folder com.snapchat.android is missing while I am already logged in

Where are you looking for the folder?

Not there as well, exactly that what I am looking for
I tried installing SC on my galaxy tab4 with RR ROM 7.1.2 and the folder is in place in /data/data
Even so if I create the folder manually or to copy content from other device, it will be removed automatically when restart

Any suggetions?

Why is snapchat constantly crashing on OxygenOS 3.5.5?

Sometimes snapchat just crashes a couple of seconds after opening it or sometimes it doesn't but when I try to open someones story it just crashes.
I can provide logs if someone can explain how to do it
To add to this, I've tried it on 1.9 and it doesn't work. This problem is all of the sudden and it used to work. I've tried uninstalling root and xposed and factory resetting none of which work. It works fine on CM13 and 14.1 but suddenly it stops working here.
Id also like to add that on freedom OS snapchat wont work since snapchat can sense if you are rooted. I think there is a way around like that root cloak app but havent tried it out yet. Anyone find a way around ?

You can login to snapchat if you aren't rooted. If you are rooted and need to login just uninstall it through the supersu app.
This again. You won't be able to log in ONLY if you have xposed framework installed. It's not "sensing" root.
It's crashing because you probably are using a custom kernel with cb. Snapchat works fine with stock kernel.

I'm using stock everything, have never went custom on my OP3 and it crashes every time when I open it.

There's a write-up and link to the apk for this on aftvnews: http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-use-directv-now-on-a-rooted-amazon-fire-tv-or-fire-tv-stick/
If your rooted FireTV can't see the DirecTV Now app, use this link: https://www.amazon.com/AT-T-Services-Inc-DIRECTV/dp/B01J62Q632 and sign in to your Amazon account. On the right side, select your rooted device and click "Deliver".

I signed up today for DirecTV Now only to be greeted on my FireTV with the following error:
Code:
This video failed to load. Restart the app and launch your content again. Or search for Error 40 in the Help Center. (QP1005)
Hrmm.. that's weird. So I looked up Error 40, and it says there's a network problem. I tried it on my non-rooted Nexus 6P and it worked flawlessly. So I jumped in to logcat and found some interesting messages:
Code:
I/drm_oal ( 4862): IsDeviceRooted: 0x0000000000000002
and
Code:
D/NewRelicGateway(14071): ERROR event was recorded. Error description = Failed preparing the player because device security check failed due to: (FileSystem)(com.quickplay.vstb.core:1005)
So I installed xposed and RootCloak 2 hoping it would help. I added it to the list of apps and it still had the same problem.
Next thing I did was pull the apk from my Fire TV. After some digging, I found that lib/armeabi/libdrmagent_downloadable_jni.so had some interesting strings in it, including a check for Cyanogen:
Code:
ro.build.product
ro.build.tags,release-keys,OnePlus3#%?OnePlus2#%?OnePlus#%?Z26CL#%?STUDIO_C,ro.build.type,user,#%?
ro.build.display.id,cm_,#%?,ro.build.display.id,cyanogen,#%?,ro.build.type,debug,#%?,ro.build.type,userdebug,#%?,ro.build.host,cyanogenmod,A0001#%?
and a list of strings for paths it might check:
Code:
/system/bin/su,#%?,/system/xbin/su,#%?,/sbin/su,#%?,/system/su,#%?,/system/bin/.ext/.su,#%?,/system/usr/we-need-root/su-backup,#%?,/system/xbin/mu,#%?

/data,#%?,/system,#%?,/system/bin,#%?,/system/sbin,#%?,/system/xbin,#%?,/vendor/bin,#%?,/sys,#%?,/sbin,#%?,/etc,#%?,/proc,#%?,/dev,#%?

Why do they even care if you're rooted?? So lame...
Since they appear to be checking for root in a C/C++ .so file, is Xposed useless here?

I've read other posts from fellow rooted ftv users reporting the same thing. It would seem as if directv is following suit with PSVue in blocking rooted firetvs. It could be possible that it just won't run on any fireos older than 5.2.2.0
.
Same issue here. I hope someone figures out a workaround soon. I may just have to wait for my Apple TV to arrive.

I tried Hide My Root 4.0 on a nexus 6 with android 7.0 and the app i guess doesn't work on on 7.0. Which makes sense since it hasn't been updated since 2013. It can't find my root at all.
I ended up just unrooting to try directtv now since I am currently not using the root for anything specific, but obviously I am going to want to root my phone again. Hopefully there is something found to bypass this on android 7.0.
Not even sure why they want to stop root users. I paid just like everyone else. Why crap on us? I am definitely less likely to recommend the service in the future.

This didn't work for me for some reason. I have a 6P that's still on 6.0 due to Xposed. I was able to get around ps vue with root cloak though.
I unrooted my phone just so I could test it out, but it still doesn't work for me because I'm on CM13.1 and I think there is a check on Cyanogen too? That really sucks, I hope someone figures a way around it.
I've tried using RootCloak with the keyword 'cyanogen' added to the blacklist as well as the string 'com.att.tv' added to the list of apps to block, alas without any success.
I also tried suhide with a fresh install of Marshmallow and systemless root, but it didn't work.
I am currently running 6.0.1, rooted 2.76, with Xposed installed.

[SOLVED] Adaway not blocking ads? (rooted)

Upgrading to OOS 4.7.4 has fixed this for me.
Hi guys,
Just got this phone the other day and it seems that I can't get adaway to actually block any ads? I got magisk su, the app works (I can grant it root, it updates the hosts files successfully, I've rebooted, etc) but none of the ads in chrome actually get blocked, for example.
I've done this for every other phone I've previously had without issue, so I was wondering if you have any thoughts around what might be happening?
Thanks.

I have tried with it both enabled and disabled (and with reboots in between). The box in Adaway gets checked automatically as well.
In terms of versions:
OOS: 4.7.2
Magisk: 14.0
Adaway: 3.2

Not sure what to tell you. I have stock OOS, rooted with Magisk 14.0, using AdAway 3.2.

Workaround for Magisk + Bank apps

Hey guys.
I would like to ask you, if it's possible to use bank apps + root on this device?
I tried it yesterday several times and couldn't get it to work. On my previous phones if worked perfectly.
What I did:
- unlock OP7T
- root with self-made Magisk patched boot
- hide Magisk Manager itself
- hide the bank app
It worked even yesterday on my other phone, before I switched to 7T.
I'm wondering why it doesn't work on 7T and maybe there is some fix for it?
What happens when you try the bank apps? I've used several (US Bank, Chase, Discover, etc.), and haven't had any issues
It could be detecting another root app or even a folder associated with a root app (Pokemon Go does this with the Magisk Folder). Start digging through your storage to see if there's anything that might be root related.

Rootchecker says I'm rooted and also magisk says installed. Also the apps have root rights in magisk. But root doesn't work lol.
I have completely uninstalled magisk and reflashed it again. Root works now. But magisk hide is broken. Maybe OxygenOS is the reason.

Question Rooted/Custom Rom and use Work apps

Hi, y'all.
So I have just updated to the new A12 ColorOS on my Op9pro, and I really don't like it. I browsed this forum and found Paranoid was making a rom for the OP. Is it then possible to run this rom without getting a message on for an example MS Teams that my phone is rooted? Last time I tried with an other rom, with magisk hide - I encountered this problem.
Thanks!

You will be almost good to go with Magisk DenyList + Universal SafetyNet Fix. I'm using these with DerpFest and all of my banking apps have no complaints whatsoever
The reason why I use "almost" is because some banking apps have their counter measures so im not sure, but at least banking app that I'm using are all passed and good to go with these two.
