Hello guys, I have an issue with my oneplus 3 and I would really appreciate your help,,
I own this oneplus 3 phone for a couple of weeks and I am uber happy, it`s incredibly good and versatile! My only problem with this phone is the low incall volume on earpiece, it`s driving me nuts,, I opened up the phone, there is no dust at the earpiece, so I would say there is no hardware issue.. My phone is rooted and I have resurrection os installed on it. I have been trying to change the mixer_paths_tasha settings and increase the volume on it, I have read a lot about this and tried multiple options,, none of them works.. It is quite hard as there are only a few posts out there on Google saying about changes made on tasha mixer paths,, all of them refer to mixer_paths not tasha version file After I change the output volume from 82 or 84 to 93 and restart the phone, the dialer acts stupid, it`s lagging and I can`t hear anything when the person I call picks up the phone.. Even if I change back the setting in mixer paths tasha or replace the file with the backup I saved before making the changes, the dialer still is lagging. It annoys me as I have a rooted phone and cannot change the output volume,, I would buy another earpiece speaker but first I want to make sure it`s not because of software,, Please help me with this one, after changing any of output volumes the only way to get my phone back to normal is by flashing the ressurection os. Thank you guys!
i am having same issue, i restored to stock for that on latest beta. Volume was increase little bit,but it is still low.
i am trying factory reset option now. i will let u know if it restores. i am also in need for solution, tried mixer path changes volume increases bit but it clarity totally lost for me. So i reverted to stock.

Maybe try to increase the volume not so much,, it's annoying me as i have a rooted phone and cannot increase the volume at all,, whatever i change the phone does not like it and dialer starts to malfunction,, i have read a post about adding a line in mixer tasha, ctl rx0 digital volume line,, tried also that one and it does not work. I dont know what else can i do, except getting back the stock rom,, please tell me it worked for you

Check this post i solved it out
Brace Your Selfs Long Post Coming (WITH FIX)
Guys the solution is simple ...!
Let's tell you my story. I was a very satisfied OP3 user, until one day .... my speaker volume was so low i could not even listen to a person at a room without any noise. (3 months ago) .
My first thought was that the problem is from the rom (Was using FreedomOS BETA at that time ) so i changed to FreedomOS Stable but the problem was the same , let's try again changed to Stock rom problem still there .
So let's go on and try the roms (Lineage Os , Mokee Os , Resurrection Remix , etc ) every rom had the same issue Low volume.
Next thought might be a problem from the earpiece (got some spare earpiece parts from ebay ) they arrived, i changed the earpiece .... slightly more volume but still useless.
Ok let's try mixer_paths changed the max volume to 95 but issue still there ... I was disappointed i thought it was a motherboard problem ... i gave up ... after some days my screen cracked but it was working ( I love my OP3 and i bought a new LCD ) .
Then after i got the part i changed all my parts to the new Screen .
The volume of the earpiece like magic goes back to normal .
So i took the old screen (cracked but still working) and cleaned the earpiece's grill (after you remove your earpiece there will be probably a black layer of Speaker Cloth remove that too and then you will see the grill ) , it had a thick layer of dust in it , i used some alcohol an old toothbrush a little force at the grill and after i removed all the dust i putted the old earpiece and the cloth back in (the first i thought it had a problem ) I reassembled the phone and volume was like new ....
If you are in warranty it's not a good idea if not try it the simplest solution was the correct one .[/B]

For those who want to delete annoying ringtone or alarm sounds from stock one, here is a simple solution to change it
You need : Root Explorer / Root Browser
1. Go to root.
2. Open system/media/audio
3. (See, there are 4 folders : alarm, notification, ringtone, and ui) Choose folder that you want.
4. If you don't like the sound from that folder, just delete it. If you want to give your own sound, just copy it to the folder that you chose. But i recommend your sound file type is ogg vorbis. You can download Audacity from (http://audacity.sourceforge.net) to helps you convert the sound file
5. (Important) If you choose ui folder and want to change the system sound, don't forget to change your new sound's name like the old one!
5. Done!
After that, if you have problem about ringtone loop, see my thread below

Can it be done without root?
I have a new GT i9100G which is not rooted and as of this time I do not wish to void the warranty. So, my question is, can this be done without rooting my device? If not, will using Odin to root the device (flashing a kernel) set the counter to 1, and if so, how do I reset it without a jig?
PS. I hope I am not posting this in the wrong place and apologize if I am.

Still visible in the menu...
Thanks a lot for the guide bro!
I got another question. I removed all those annoying sounds I never used and never will, the way you showed, but when I open the alarm menu or ringtone menu, they are still visible.
How do I remove them from there too? I wiped cache and Dalvik cache, but they are still there although there are only 3 alarm sounds left, the list of sounds in the alarm menu is still the same...
A really simple thing to do.
I wonder why people fail at times..
Anyways, Good Guide. Will help lots of people.

Never mind... Problem solved... In the beginning, even after deleting the sounds I didn't want, they were still visible in the menus. If I selected them they would be mute of course... Today, somehow they disappeared from the menus as welI don't know if out was due to my constant rom modding or what. It beats me...

Once you are done with removing/adding the ring tone, restart your phone. It will update the new list.

the way to update the ringtone list is just restart your phone, or you could edit the ROM zip file first, before you flash it in your phone.

Thanks for answering my post. Using SU-BB installer, I was able to get root without changing the counter (I hope) so now I can use your method to get rid of the sounds I never use and do not like.
I've added sounds to the notification folder earlier but the notification volume is much lower than what the original volume of those tones. Any way to fix it ?

Use Audacity: It's free, and open source!
If your GT-S5830 has only one speaker (mono), you can, if your audio is stereo, create a mono track which should help somewhat. Audacity>new>open your file> tracks> stereo to mono. You can also use audacity to boost the db of the of the audio signal (take care not to cause clipping). Audacity>effect>amplify.
Hope this helps.

persistent irritating original ringtone!
My friend, please help me out. I have a problem with my rooted Huawei mediapad s7-931u device. i dont know why whenever i use/ install hisuit driver, the ringtone of the device gets back to its original (irritating!) one. off course, the name of the ringtone in my device is the one I have chosen, but that does not ring and the original one is played. I have tried to not use hisuit but still when i install a new app or use Superuser app, the ringtone changes to its original one!!!
you know what's funny! i looked all four audio folders to find that ... sound but it wasnt in any of them to be DELETED or what.
Please help me out! it's really going on my nerves now!

Hey everybody, I just made some Headphone volume boost scripts, all are tested and work, though some may damage your hardware.(Continue reading)
These are flashable zip files that will work on any recovery.
They range in digital volume from 62-68 for now. And range from 19-20 in digital volume. (63/19 only)
They are safe to flash for the most part, but values above 65 for digital volume MAY damage hardware.
How to install:
Download and flash in CWM, TWRP, or Philz
Downloads: Below
-Slight boost, choose 62/20, 63/19, 63/20, or 64/20
-Medium boost, choose 65/20- Some devices may clip at high volume.
-High boost, choose 66/20- Some devices may clip at high volume.
-Experimental Extreme boost, choose 67/20 or 68/20- use with caution! May damage hardware.
I would recommend 63/19 for iPhone like sound. Or 64/20 for loud sound, without distortion.
Aosp earpiece boost and stock earpiece was removed, they didn't work correctly, use new earpiece and Bluetooth boost!
Remember:
I am not responsible if your phone explodes, creates a nuclear weapon, makes your ears bleed, or if it stops working.
If you say I broke your phone, I will laugh at you. Please advise!
Bugs: None reported... Yet.
Please tell me if anything is wrong!
Thanks,
willi_3609
P.S. this is working best on KK Roms. And new Earpiece and Bluetooth boost are out!!!

was looking for this a long time ago.. i flashed 2 files yesterday from some1 who posted other volume boosts as well but having a more wide option available is amazing....
If i an not mistaken , we can flash multiple files one after the other, correct ?
example.. i want to boost Head phone and speaker .. so flash Headphone6520.zip followed by Speaker66.zip ? or would Speaker66.zip overwrite Headphone.zip changes ?
As i understand it both files just modify Mixer_paths.Xml, so multiple flashes would just be overwriting the same file?
Thanks for the mod !
You can use both.

Can anybody test somethibg out for me.
I need somebody with an AOSP based ROM to test my Earpiece zip. That would be great, ui need to know if it works on the D80x models
It should boost earpiece volume as that is the only lower value, but I would be thankful to have someone test it and report back to me. Thanks.

Answer: Its actually not about kernel.. But yes. It can help..
I ve tried many rome and mods .. Its definitely changeable.. Last time i ve tried sony walkman on my g2 (cloudy g3 rom) was the best sound with bluetooth.. It was as loud as cable..
but cloudy's rom wasn't good enough.. (heating) therefor i had to change it..
So one thing i m sure is bluetooth sounds can be changed..

Hey OP can you look at possibly getting this working with cm11. I know there are other mods that say they help with those volume issues but I've yet to find one that gives stock like or close to stock results. Thanks!

This works with all Roms, cm, aosp, stock, everything.
It just edits a file already present in the Roms.
I have edit mixer path to have more volume out from speakers and headhpones
Backup original file from
/etc (file) mixer_paths.xml
And copy this one to there... then chance permission to rw-r--r--
The file will overwrite itself whit the one located also on
/System/etc
If you dont do it this way for some reason you may have some sort of problems where some app doesn't hear and video lags

Check it out, but every build is changing the structure mixer_paths.xml.
You can edit the file yourself mixer_paths.xml in its sole discretion.
I am facing a weired speaker problem after updating to soak test Oreo. It rattles when the volume is above 80% . I did tried it hardway. Replace the speaker with a similar speaker ( got from an old lumia 520) .. then the rattling got little less.. but its still there.. very noticeable on YouTube playback..
Btw.. i think its an os problem.. because my brand new pixel 2 xl had it when it was on android Oreo. But now its almost gone after pie update.
There was no such issue ( even with old speaker) when it was in android 7
Is it only me or if you all guys have it??
Please give feedbacks.
Try it after installing v4a, adjust the settings until you achieve a minimal amount of rattle.

Thank you brother. The speaker problem is fixed. But the fun thing is.. volume reduced from previous build. 28.85-3 when i updated to 28.85.13.
But anyway its far better than the previous rattling condition.
Thank you again..
logical, it is not a reliable version, it is a version soak test

It is loudest it can be...if you go over expect sound clipping and distorsion. I maximise loudness with viper4android driver.

I got now this values in and i got a great result!! Nice loud powerful no distorbing clipping.
Thx you soo much for your help, without that phone would be useless for a music guy like me
Again thx.
Cheers.
You welcome...just playing with values can get best scores.
Remember not to touch mixer_gains.xml to avoid bootloop !
I get into bootloop when I tried to edit it.

Ive tried mixer_gains.xml before, get not bootloop but also no effekt at all.
Anyways, thx buddy.
Yes indeed, Note 10+ is bad device after all.
Even my S8+ have better sound.
Camera is avarage bad, sound is very poor...etc.
It seems like bad investment.

Those seem pretty high compared to presets. Yo really changed them to 229/209?
Is there a certain sequence of numbers you have to use, i.e., what made you choose those numbers?
I think I've found a solution. I'm still on pie but I couldn't edit any vendor files within android. So I copied mixer_gains.xml to my internal storage, editet it and replaced it with the twrp recoverys file manager. Of course you need to make sure that vendor can be written.
Just for your safety, take a backup of the edited file or a full vendor backup.
