Phone stuck on boot screen; Power button doesn't work. - Lenovo Vibe P1 Questions & Answers

So my power button stopped working. Meaning I have to take it to a service center.
I tried locking my bootloader via adb, however it didn't do anything, just restarted my phone and got it stuck on said boot screen.
This wouldnt be an issue in regular cases, however as I said, my power button does not work at all.
So now Im here, how the hell do I fix this. Thanks in advance.

Time to go service center to swap out your powerbutton, or open up your phone and change it by yourself.

Yeah, was planning to do that. My bootloader is unlocked and I have TWRP on there, but eh, hoping they wont end the warranty.

Booting to recovery with button combination not working

So, after trying out a few firmwares (JM2, JG8, JM5) and kernels (Samset&OC) I can't no longer boot to recovery with Vol UP + Home + power. I can't really say when this problem first occurred, but maybe with JG8 flash. The strange thing is that I can get to recovery with adb reboot recovery and through android console with reboot recovery (when rooted ofc). Also download mode works great.
Things I have tried:
-flash again to JM2 and JM5 with re-partition checked (512 PIT)
-cleared cache+data through recovery
-factory reset through phone code (this also cleared the internal SD)
-took out the battery multiple times
-booted phone without sim
-flashed phone without sim
-changed CSC with phone code
-restore a nandroid backup of JM2. Recovery worked with this one when I took the backup
-there's no external flash card inserted
Soooo..does anyone have any idea about this kind of problem?
i had a similar problem after trying few ROMs. In my case, when i pres the key combi i get the boot logo and then few seconds later the screen goes black and then i see the boot logo again, and this goes forever. and then i tried pressing the same key combination simultaneously and once i see the boot logo i let go the power button and keep the vol up and home pressed, and then only it went into the recovery mode.
hope it works the same for you
Cheers
Agreed, 99.9% chance you are doing it wrong.

mmthabet: I had the exact same experience. Letting go of the power button when the logo appears lets me enter recovery.
or you may need to take out the battery first for a few seconds... after that, you can reinsert it back and try recovery mode...
at least this work for me...
Thanks for replies but none of the solutions work. The recovery mode button combination DID work for a few weeks, but then just stopped working.
I know that I'm doing it right. I have always pressed vol up and home down until the phone loaded recovery and only briefly pressed power button just at the start. I have also tried to remove battery multiple times and once waited 30 mins before re-inserting it.
Trust me, I'm not doing it wrong :s And recovery is working great through adb reboot recovery and shell.

More so a timing issue. Buttons not pressed at the same time.
I get it all the time for all combo's.
Just keep trying.
You might already have this however just in case you dont, check out Quick Boot.

With this app you can boot into recovery mode. Have to be rooted though.

this wont work, if you bricked the phone in a bad flash situation.
in times when this app works, you can easily do adb reboot recover
so this app still doesn't address the real issue of how to get the 3 buttons press hardware recovery mode

I release the buttons right when the first Samsung texts comes on the screen. It will take it to Recovery mode. I also had a "boot loop" few times, if I keep pressing the buttons all the time.
Have you tried release your fingers right in the first texts? I really don`t know what is exactly the right way to press the buttons, but this always have took it to Recovery.
Looks like my latest full wipe with *2767*3855# cured it. Flashed JM5-->full wipe-->samset1.9b-->samset kernel and now it works. It must've got stuck somehow in my previous JM5 installation.

yes
adb reboot download
but it is dangerous, as you can not recover from a bricked state, if your flash is not compatible or if something went wrong with odin, etc.
I you're bricked and can't get into Download or recovery mode, leave the device to boot, it will just show a black screen for a while then will turn its self off, once this happens you should be able to use the key combo.

Any idea how long you waited? Been waiting 5 minutes, hasn't shut off. Mine's a Bell though so I'm guessing I won't have any luck.
The way i do it (no chance of doing it wrong and timing):
hold down+home and then also press the power button for a little more then 10 seconds (so all 3 buttons for 10 seconds). The phone will reset into download mode, never fails in whatever mode the phone originaly was..

Downloading...do not turn off target.

Hey guys I really need help here. I have no clue how but my phone into some weird mode displaying the message in the title. I have a stock Nexus and didn't try to flash or anything like that.
I tried everything on the internet but nothing seems like its working. I am a real noob and need any advice. Is there a way to get the phone back to normal without having to unlock it, root or something like that?
you most likely turned it on without realizing that your fingers are on the volume down and power at the same time. try pulling the battery and turn on the phone again

You put your phone into download mode somehow.
At least, if your title is what your talking about.....then yea, your in download mode.
If you didn't flash anything....try just pulling the battery and restarting the phone.
I tried that. Nothing is working; the phone gets stuck on the google logo and then the logo itself goes and comes back really quickly then the phones turn off. When the phone turns off it takes 10 mins to get it up again!! No clue...
Now the phone won't turn on.

Is the battery now dead? Will the phone turn on when its plugged in?
I got back to the same screen now, I removed the battery and phone won't even turn off. It's stuck on the same screen even without the battery??? what's going on?
Update: Ok the phone turned off and then I tried to turn it on. It goes to the Google logo and then the screen goes blank.

Can you get to the bootloader?
Vol. Down + vol. Up and power together.
If so then you'll be fine. Just flash a factory image.
There are a few threads that will go through the process in more detail than I am willing to at 6:08am!
Is there a way to take my photos and contact from the phone while it's in the downloading mode or any other way before I flash it. Or am I screwed? I don't have my stuff synced with google+

If the phone doesnt completely reboots to android, I dont think you can get your photo's.
Can you still get in fastboot mode?
my phone is doing the same thing, the downloading screen. I am totally stock, and i can easily turn my phone on and off except i wanna get into bootloader to flash CWM recovery and i cant do so because this screen is popping up.

Is there a big green outlined arrow box at the top of your screen that says start, and it points to your power button? If so you are just at the Odin screen instead of your boot loader screen. You get here by just holding vol down and power instead of of holding both vol up/down and power which would bring you to the bootlloader. Also your phone obviously needs to be off before doing either of these. If in fact you are at the Odin screen simply push power and your phone will boot.

It sounds like your volume-down button might be stuck in the pressed-down position (or just shorted out). If that is the case, every time you try to turn your phone on, you will see the screen you described. You can try pressing the volume buttons many times to see if you can get the volume-down button unstuck. If you can't, you can replace the buttons fairly cheaply.
Of course, it could be caused by something else entirely, but that's what it seems like to me.

This phone doesnt have any Volume +/- power button trick. It ONLY has the yellow reset button. Its a pain in the A*S!
Try a few things first.
1) When you hold down the yellow reset button, are you ONLY holding it down for a few seconds, and it vibrates ONCE?
Have you tried holding it down for 10 seconds, until it vibrates TWICE, indicating it has powered off completely, and THEN try connecting it?
2) If step 1 got your phone to power off completely try:
-Connecting your phone to your PC via USB with the volume DOWN button held and see if you get a GREEN L.E.D. If you do you have
successfully entered flash mode, in which case you can simply flash an FTF file with flashtool.
-Connecting your phone to your PC via USB with the volume UP button held and see if you get a BLUE L.E.D. If you do you have
successfully entered fastboot. From here, as long as you have ADB and your devices drivers installed on your computer, you can flash
a boot.img or "Kernel" with a fastboot command in a command window (fastboot flash boot boot.img). The easiest way to get a kernel or
boot.img with a baked in recovery is to download the latest Cyanogenmod, unzip and extract the boot.img, and flash it via fastboot.
Since you have an unlocked bootloader already, your device should be able to use an AOSP kernel.
From there you should be able to at least boot into recovery, and flash something from your SD card.
Id recommend just flashing the latest Cyanogenmod just to get your device up and running. From there you should be able to follow steps
get back to stock if thats what your looking for.
I hope at least one of these options work.
If not, like that last guy said, take it to a service center and get it checked out.

All ZL's are like that. Hold down till 1 vibration for reboot. Hold down till 3 vibrations for power off. The yellow reset button will not power on the device however. I figured I'd check just incase my power button decided to go for a sh*t.

NOOB: hard bricked op3, volume up button hasn't been working

First off, I did do a search, but as far as I can tell no one has had this problem so far.
This is all after modding using a tool kit: (i can't include the url but it is the toolkit by neisor on the oneplus forums)
tldr: phone stuck in bootloop, computer wont recognize the phone, maybe because it keeps shutting off and then booting to the 1+ logo, then shutting off again, would drivers help? what can I do about the volume up button?
So for a while my volume up button hasn't been working, and the mega unbrick post shows that I need to hold the volume up button for at least 25 seconds and while holding, plug my phone in. I have also seen some posts that say the volume up button could be a software issue, and the button itself could be working, and it is just not registering, as well as someone saying that you could take the back off and manually press the button, instead of using the bar on the outside of the phone (would this work?). I have gotten the button to work in the past by pressing the volume up button to the side instead of straight in, but I haven't been able to get it to work since my phone got bricked.
Another issue: my phone is stuck in a boot loop, I can't access fastboot, and I'm unsure of recovery because my volume up button is not working. would it be worth it to deal with the constant vibrating to try to get it to recovery?
I have been able to shut the phone off by holding the power button for something like a minute and a half, though.
This is my first post, and if I have broken any rules I am very sorry, but I need help and am tired of not having a phone.
Thank you everyone,
Mark
Edit: this is what I did to root the phone:
1. download the toolkit
2. unlock bootloader (when fastbooting the phone said unlocked at the bottom, and a message about not being secure showed every time I rebooted the phone)
3. flashed twrp (no issues, still booted, recovery went to twrp. for some reason I had to flash multiple times as every now and then recovery would revert to stock op, although I did make a backup through twrp)
4. send supersu zip file to phone, install using twrp (phone would not boot, op logo stayed on phone for 2 hrs + until I rebooted to fastboot and tried to reinstall the backup I made, still nothing)
5. Try magisk (still stuck on op logo)
6. try to go back to stock, accidentally lock bootloader (now the phone is stuck in bootloop, don't know what to do from here as I cant get to fastboot and am unsure of recovery's accessibility.)
If you are sure you have a broken volume button, you need to replace it first in order to get the phone fix.
Correction:
Fastboot/bootloader = Power+Vol Up
Recovery = Power+Vol Down
This happened to me except I didn't even get anything appear on the screen -- the phone just periodically vibrated with the screen not even light up. I tried the reset toolkit which is meant to flash your phone back to normal using Qualcomm drivers or something, but that didn't work either. Eventually I had to send it to OnePlus who fixed it for free in under a week! They said the motherboard had failed.
I hope you get this fixed!
Thanks

Damn, that sucks, and besides being unfixable (doubt it), this is my biggest fear. I'm in the US and really don't want to have to ship my phone to china to have it fixed. If you are in the US as well do you know if there is a OnePlus branch I can send it to in the US?

There seems to be one in Texas. Anyway, contact OnePlus and they may try to solve it over the air.
Apart from that, did you install the Qualcom drivers properly? Even with your faulty power button, try to hold it down for 40+ seconds (for the phone to switch off) and then immediately hold down the volume up button for 10 seconds and then plug in the phone to the PC. I know I am merely repeating the instructions of Naman Bhalla in his Mega Unbrick Guide but it is crucial to do them correctly especially the installation of the drivers. Try these steps repeatedly because for some people, the phone gets recognised after repeated attempts. Or else replace the power button and then try these steps.
I had to use the Guide last month and successfully resurrected my dead phone.

Can you boot into recovery by pressing power+volume down buttons?
Update: Got phone to show on computer as qualcomm under coms and ports
So last night I went ahead and held volume up for about 20 seconds, then plugged the phone in, keeping the volume up button pressed the entire time. my phone stopped bootlooping and showed up as a qualcom device! So I have downloaded the new driver the stock os, and am going to proceed to try to unbrick my phone.
Wish me luck,
Mark

I still need to turn off the signed drivers features ( a huge bi*ch, I have to use another computer to contact microsoft or something to get my computer to load when I turn off safe boot or whatever its called), but once I do that I can install the driver and attempt to reinstall the stock os. Hopefully everything will go well.

So far recovery has not been loading, just the bootloop, but I have gotten the phone to power off by pressing the power button for 40 seconds, and the volume up button plus plugging in does make the phone register as qualcom 9008 or something like that. Basically everything is going well so far, and the faulty vol button seems to have been a software bug, as it does work when plugging it in. I will try to get to fast boot, but it did not work last time.

In the settings I checked for "OEM-Unlock" of course. Rebooted to Download Mode but I don't get the screen where I have to press Vol-Up to confirm unlocking the bootloader. What's up with that?
I tried everything I could think about but as I said I'm stuck and you guys here are my last chance.
I really hope someone can help me.
Greetings

As I said I checked for OEM-Unlock and it's on. And I don't have a problem entering Download mode. I don't get the screen to confirm unlocking bootloader. And that's what I don't understand.

Let we make it clear, If you enter download mode from Android Recovery, you will not see the option to long press volume up to unlock the boot loader. You will see it if you enter download mode: Turn off it, press and hold volume up + volume down together while pressing these keys, connect the phone to PC using USB cable.
enter download mode and long press vol up should fix the problem
I have the same problem with my galaxy fold F900F ..
I can enter to green screen ( download mode ) But there is no option for long press volume up ..
only I get long press volume down + power to restart the phone ...
so how to confirm unlocking bootloader in this case .. ?

Hello,
The problem usually comes when you unlock and lock bootloader too many times (2 or 3). To fix this problem you need to go into download mode - flash the stock firmware from samfw.com and then setup you phone. Then, unlock oem will be available in developer options and then you can unlock bootloader from download mode.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
I think you need to flash the stock firmware. Then, bootloader unlock will be available in the download mode.
FYI If anyone is having this issue like me, just use power button + vol up + vol down button while powered off then connect usb cable, and it worked (for me!)
hey all. I had the same problem and managed to make the hold volume up to unlock option appear by connecting to internet, making a google account and samsung account, and fully completing the setup (no more "finish setting up your phone" notification)
Hope it works for you! there might be some waiting period as I did this over several weeks of playing around with it.

if you want to remove that finish setting up notification, just go to notification info then app info and disable that app, it's redundant anyways

I had the exact same problem with my SM-A505W! I looked everywhere and could not find anything. Eventually, I found a couple of things relating to a bug where you either had to plug in the USB-C earbuds that came with the phone or plug it into one of your computer's USB 2.0 ports. I did the latter.
This is what I did. First off ensured my phone was just like the one noted above by noobynoob7. Next I plugged my phone into a USB 2.0 port on my laptop. At this point I heard my phone connect and noted that the screen showed me my phone was charging.
***Important*** I pressed the volume up and volume down at the same time; then I pressed the power button, holding all three down simultaneously! At this point my phone immediately went into the familiar download mode with the option to long press the volume up button to unlock the bootloader.
I am about to return a S10e G970F because I can't get past this as well. Button combinations mentioned don't do anything for me, completely lost.
EDIT: Fixed now somehow. Sad that I am now apparently forever stuck on Android 12, even with custom ROMs?
