Fire TV 4K eMMC Root Method - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have read many articles and am very confused about the Fire TV2 4K.
Does this EMMC Hardware Root method still work on the latest version 2 Fire TV? (https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/general/hardware-root-via-emmc-chip-t2885344)
If so, can someone point me in the right direction as to where to buy one of these devices (https://shop.exploitee.rs) as this seller seems to always be out of stock?
Thanks for your help.

Just wanted to bump this as I had similar questions and all the videos I have found so far show the Gen 1. A gen 2 vid or images would be helpful

I don't think anyone ever tried it on the FTV2. The risk of damaging it outweighed the reward. You're best bet is to block updates and hope for a root solution to the version you are on. There is currently a way you can block updates from a shell. I would block the updates before amazon patches this blocking method.

New fire TV rooting

Hi guys
I just ordered a new fire tv off ebay and am wondering if i can root it. This thread gives some clues, but doesnt actually answer my question.
So, if I do everything by the book and block the IPs first on my router, before plugging it in, I should be able to root? Or do the newer models already have unrootable firmware?

Some Fire TVs are shipping with unrootable firmware. There is no way to know if it's rootable until you power it up. Basically, if you power it on and the first screen cycles between english and german, then it's unrootable. If it's just english, then it's probably rootable. Any news on the next version of the root if there are any new holes found? etc? I have given a firetv to my parents without rooting and it got updated to a non root version. I'm planning on switching our units and I'll keep the unrooted one until the root comes out.

Fire TV Stick 2 (2016 w/Alexa Voice Remote).... ROOT?

My mother in law just picked up a second generation Fire TV Stick and was asking me if it's rootable. She said she knows someone who rooted their 1st generation and had a bunch of stuff sideloaded onto it, but from what I have researched online, the second generation is not yet rootable at this time...
Anyone know for sure? I have never dealt with one of these before, I am only familiar with ROKU.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Rooting FireTV Stick with 5.2.4.0?

I just received a brand new Stick a couple days ago and successfully installed Kodi and a VPN. But, I am now interested in messing around with some custom ROMs and at the very least block further Amazon updates. I can't find any solid yes or no answers as to whether this is possible. Could someone point me in the right direction? I am fairly familiar with rooting Android phones and using recovery and custom roms. Fire is new to me.
Thanks!
Edit: I now realize that I probably should have just bought a Gen 1 Stick, but I didn't know that Amazon was actively fighting off modders. I have faith that the Android community will come up with a solution.. if they haven't already.
I blocked updates on my 5.2.4 fire tv successfully with the debloater tool. I am also waiting for a root method.

You can not
It seems that there isn't one person who works on finding a root for the fire tv. Is it that they wait for a vulnerability to be found in the Android OS itself before a root is available? I'm just wondering this because of the type of ways people have rooted them in the past. Anyone know?
Looks like my hope lies with zeroepoch and rbox.

Where can I find debloater tool for fire tv 2?
There is a prerooted 5.2.4.1 rom available.
Is there no way to install a xustom recovery and load that? Lile with many devices (im looking at you samsung) you have to install twrp and then boot straight to rexovery and flash a rom or your supersu.
Is that not possible with this? I am or else someone would have said it but I have to ask.
Edit. Excuse me.
How do you plan on doubling your money? Selling fully loaded boxes and sticks is illegal and Kodi is pretty much dead.
Illigal? You a lawyer? Is that legal advise? I think its perfectly legal. They literally have dozens of sellers on amazon, ebay, etc. (Not trying to come off smartass, I just dont want any trouble)
And even besides all that, everything I own that has a root folder has access to it. I have a touch of ocd maybe, but I just really want to be able to use a device I paid for to its fullest extent. Since they advertise the specs to their fullest when deciding on a sale price.

I'm just saying be very careful. I've had the FBI at my door and it's not fun. I believe Amazon and eBay are taking down "fully loaded" boxes. I thought your post mentioned selling them. I'm not trying to be an ass just be careful.

Yeah. I had forgotten my manners for a moment. The internet is huge, ya know sometimes I forget which spot I am. I am simply trying to enable all the features of this thing. I use it to replace cable, a few (less than $10 usually) monthly subscriptions to alternate channels can save a ton of money over conventional cable. This is all I was saying.
Is there no way to get into fastboot by using possibly a factory cable? I have one of those that I used for my kindle fires.

AFTV gen. 3 disable bloat

I am new to Amazon Fire TV, I have a gen 3. Seeing that older gen 2's have root, nothing for gen 3. Anyway to no root disable/uninstall bloatware? Anyway at all to reclaim some memory would be great, if not, taking this thing back. Thank you all in advanced.
Don't think there's any guide yet mate. I posted a similar question here and got no replies. Probably be a few weeks before something crops up.
not sure if this link will meet your requirement. it helps to disable the bloatware from TV Stick.

Anyway to debloat FireStick 2 running 5.2.6.3?

I’ve had Kodi since I got my FireStick on Black Friday of 2016. I’ve been trying to customize it as much as possible but I know it’s Lipitor’s without root. Added the HA launcher and love it. Want to debloat the amazon crap to make it faster. Anyway to do this?

Unfortunately, there is no currently known method to remove/disable bloatware on devices that are running firmware 5.2.6.1 or higher.
Damn. Ok thanks

Due to the new firmware you should only buy a current Fire TV device if you mainly use Amazon Prime!
That was exactly the goal Amazon was pursuing
^ Bull****. My debloated Firestick 2 broke. Still can do everything I could do before, with its replacement 5.26.1 (boot to new launcher etc). Only thing missing is voice search in Leanback.
Would you be so kind as to share? There is A LOT of information to sift through and AFTVNews is actually still indicating that the Fire TV 3 can't be rooted, which we know isn't necessarily true now (given firmware level).
Thank you!
