How to re-lock bootloader - Pixel C Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently purchased a used Pixel C. The previous owner stated that the bootloader is unlocked but he never flashed anything. It is running stock. I want to re-lock to the bootloader to do away with the annoying message upon boot up. What is the appropriate fastboot command? Some posts make mention of new fastboot commands. Thanks

reboot on fastboot mode
type: fastboot flashing lock
wait for format userdata
done

Solved
Thanks. That worked perfectly.

Hmmm... My bootloader is unlocked and the developer option is grayed out to lock it.
If I follow these commands to lock via fastboot ("fastboot flashing lock") I get the following error:
FAILED (remote: Enable OEM unlock is not set)

Thanks -- but that option is greyed-out.
No longer a problem for me since I think I'll probably run rooted with the final rev of lineageos +microg and Magisk. So I need to stay unlocked anyhow.

They found a fix for Nougat bricked phones in N6 thread!

As title says, but we need a working backup. Mine is broken, can someone upload a working one, plz?
This is the howto:
1. Flash a stock image (I used the August stock image MTC20F)
2. Fastboot flash TWRP 3.0.2-0
3. Boot into TWRP
4. Select Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Select and repair each partition individually (some won't be able to, and that's fine, just move on to the next one)
5. Restore a full nandroid backup (make sure everything is selected) and reboot
6. You should now be free of the never ending boots, and if your device is bootlooped at this point (stuck at the boot animation), you can just flash stock again.
Thanks for this solution. But I have a problem because after installing the rom file .tot have a locked bootloader, and at this moment I can not do flash twrp.
In order to unlock the bootloader command "fastboot oem unlock" I get the answer that it is not possible. NTR it can not unlock it.
Goes some way to upload twrp with a locked bootloader or a way to unlock?

My bootloader is locked, too. The only way to write to the phone seems to be via download mode, but flashing LGH790AT-00-V10f-NXS-XXX-OCT-03-2015-32G-MDA89E-US.tot doesn't work...
To install twrp we need to unlock the bootloader.
However, when the command "fastboot oem unlock" system gives the answer
FAILED (remote: oem unlock is not allowed)
Then how to unlock?

There's really nothing you can do to force an unlock. If you can adb sideload a full OTA zip (say for 7.0) from Google and get that to boot up, that's pretty much your best bet.

On Nexus 5X both commands can be used (oem unlock and flashing unlock)
I followed all the steps except I can't boot to recovery...when I try (manually via ADB or automatically using Wug's tool) it just goes back into the bootloop. I can't even boot temporarily to recovery (without flashing). I'm getting close to throwing in the towel...
Did not work for me, sadly
Edit: Here's how I managed to fix the problem
1. Moved Nandroid backup to PC.
2. Download factory image MTC20F from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images.
3. Install factory image (This will erase all data on your phone so move your files to your PC).
4. Install TWRP 3.0.2-0 from https://dl.twrp.me/bullhead/twrp-3.0...lhead.img.html via fastboot.
5. Go in TWRP>Wipe>Advanced Wipe and repair all partitions that can be repaired (System, Data, Cache).
6. Restore Nandroid backup.
7. Success.
Hope it works for other people too, cheers
Anyone in Portland Oregon and want to take a crack at unbricking my 5x? LG gave me an RMA, but given it's not a hardware issue, I'm thinking it will be a waste of time to send it in -- I'm worried they'll just say "all your hardware is fine". Happy to buy drinks or pay a bit if someone can get me up and running.

remote: oem unlock is not allowed

Hi,
I am using my Nextbit Robin Oem Unlock from last 1 year but today i decided to go back to stock with locked Oem.
I flashed the stock rom and locked the Oem at the same time but when i restarted the phone it got stuck at the boot.
So I went ahead with the 'fastboot oem unlock' command, and here's the problem. All flashing command returns FAILED <remote: device is locked...>.
fastboot oem device-info reads: Device tampered: false, Device unlocked: false. So bootloader is locked. At this point I assume that the bootloader is unlocked, but revert back to locked after reboot (the phone automatically rebooted after executing oem unlock command, so can't get around that).
Tried numerous other methods, using different adb files, no dice. Can't even flash TWRP. Tried adb sideload, same. Tried executing fastboot oem unlock with various different parameter, still locked after reboot. I cannot flash anything into locked bootloader.
Google researched it for few hours, same problem happened to other phones from other manufacturers that came returned from warranty replacement with modified motherboard; OR tampered/broken eMMC/NAND flash. But no such case for Nextbit Robin (yet?).
Pretty hopeless right now since I just found out that Nextbit Robin support ended on Aug 1st.
Guess I'm stuck with locked bootloader and no cell signal phone. Unless someone can help. One can always hope.
Anyway, thanks for reading.

If you bootloader is unlocked I think you can give a try to the Nextbit's Unbrick Tool
As you want to go back to stock , I think this is a good idea.
Now if your bootloader isn't unlocked there is unfortunately nothing I can do for you , unless you unlock it .
Edit #1: If your bootloader is locked , go to bootloader mode by pressing volume down + power button for about 20 seconds and try to see the bootloader state with fastboot commands. If it is unlocked , follow the process in the @nextbitKhang's thread .
Yes that's the main issue. Oem is Locked.
Is there any Oem unlock code i can use to unlock from ADB?
I don't think so ,I'm not sure, but I hope you'll find one.
On your Robin go to settings > system > about phone > tap build number until it shows developer options.
Go into developer options which is in settings > system > developer options.
Make sure OEM unlocking is enabled. (for good measure disable then re-enable)
Also make sure usb debugging is enabled. Have the Robin plugged into a computer so you can enable to pop-up on Robin asking for access for the computer.
Once they are both enabled shut down your phone. Turn it back on while pressing vol down+power and plugged into your computer.
In adb run command fastboot oem unlock
please i'm experiencing the same issue not on nextbit but on GIonee.
i have re-activate both OEM unlocking and USB debugging several times but it all void
same error: Remote: OEM unlock is not allowed
please kindly help

Locking Motorola Bootloader
Relocking Motorola Bootloaders can be difficult.
Don't relock the bootloader if it was unlocked by any other method than Offical.
ReFlash Stock Firmware, Factory Reset, Reboot. and make sure everything is working correctly before relocking.
Current locking instructions - 27 April 2021
You can't relock the bootloader without the stock firmware!! - Jun 1, 2020
If the device was rooted, reflash stock firmware.
Your device likely uses fastbootd
[Guide] Flashing Motorola Firmware
After flashing Firmware, power up the phone to make sure it will boot.
If it starts up ok
return to bootloader and run
Code:
fastboot oem lock
Follow the instructions in your terminal's output.
You should see something like "signed system image required" which means you have to
Flash all system.img_sparsechunk.X parts a second time.
When finished run the lock command again and follow the instructions in your output line.
Continue until your bootloader is locked.
Other methods that have worked in the past
Run
Code:
fastboot devices
fastboot oem lock
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot bootloader
Check if bootloader says
Code:
flashing_locked
If the bootloader doesn't lock
You may need to try something like.
Code:
fastboot oem lock begin
fastboot oem lock begin
fastboot oem lock
fastboot oem lock
fastboot oem lock
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot oem lock
or
Code:

fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
fastboot flash boot boot.img

I saw the same thing on my end at first. Found this to work repeatedly....
fastboot oem lock (enter this a few times until i says something to the effect of...."you still need to flash a signed boot.img")
fastboot flash boot boot.img (this will now flash fine without saying the image is not signed)
fastboot oem lock (if you prefer to re-lock. You'll need the unlock key again if you plan to unlock).

Setting lock/unlock propertiesThe ro.oem_unlock_supported property should be set at build time based on whether the device supports flashing unlock.
If the device suppports flashing unlock, set ro.oem_unlock_supported to 1.
If the device doesn't support flashing unlock, set ro.oem_unlock_supported to 0.
If the device supports flashing unlock, then the bootloader should indicate the lock status by setting the kernel command line variable androidboot.flash.locked to 1 if locked or 0 if unlocked.
For devices that support dm-verity, use ro.boot.verifiedbootstate to set the value of ro.boot.flash.locked to 0; this unlocks the bootloader if the verified boot state is orange.

It's not unusual for OEM unlocking on Moto devices, to be greyed out.
You need to connect to wifi/LTE and it should be available in 3 or so days after that.

Technically you would want to SIM-unlock your phone first - this will enable the "OEM Unlock" toggle, but thanks to @Ju5t3nC4s3, you can skip that and, assuming you already have the unlock token from OnePlus, just do the following:
1. Run: adb shell pm disable-user com.qualcomm.qti.uim
2. Go to Developer Options and flip the OEM Unlock toggle
3. Now run: adb shell pm enable com.qualcomm.qti.uim
4. From now on the toggle will be disabled again, but now in "on" mode
5. Reboot to fastboot
6. Run: fastboot flash cust-unlock unlock_code.bin
7. Run: fastboot oem unlock
Keep in mind that unlocking the bootloader will factory reset the phone, so make sure you backup all the data from it before doing that.

4. From now on the toggle will be disabled again, but now in "on" mode
5. Reboot to fastboot
6. Run: fastboot flash cust-unlock unlock_code.bin
7. Run: fastboot oem unlock
Keep in mind that unlocking the bootloader will factory reset the phone, so make sure you backup all the data from it before doing that.

My unlocking is greyed out. Is there a way to get the bootloader unlocked? I really want to get a pixel style rom and get rid of T-Mobile crap

Looks like I need to go buy a laptop, was hoping to avoid that lol.
Also, I don't have an unlock token. Didn't know that was a thing with OnePlus guess I been out of it for a while

Once u flip the switch u can easly get token needed to sumbmit to oneplus. What model do u have. Theres other ways to do it without having to get the unlock.bin from oneplus
I got my token from OP but even after installing it, I'm still SIM locked.
I can flash ROM's though.
Oem_Unlock will not sim unlock the device .
this is not working. I am using the tool and I got OEM unlocking toggled on and then re-greyed out in the on position. Not sure what to do next. Nothing seems to be working and there's no sounds in the video so I have no clue what's being done.
Is it true all of this is pointless because my SIM is not unlocked????

No, only T-Mobile can SIM-unlock your phone - you are probably getting error 255 right now when you try requesting a permanent unlock.
There is a strict requirement that phone must stay registered on T-Mobile's network for a few days (I think, three). Before that no one will be able to SIM-unlock your phone. After 3 days call T-Mobile support and ask nicely for SIM-unlock. They will probably tell you that you have to first pay-off your phone and wait 40 days. Ask even more nicely and give some reason. I used "I want to unlock this phone for development purposes".
It may take a few tries and pure luck to get to a rep that will be willing to help you.

Ok so for my question. Do I need to do this to unlock my bootloader and root? I thought that the all in one tool posted above didn't require that SIM be unlocked but I'm not seeing how because it's not working.

What exactly is not working?
Just get the latest platform tools and run those commands I mentioned earlier after enabling USB debugging. Worked for me even before I was able to SIM-unlock my phone.
If you're planning to use your phone with T-Mobile, it doesn't matter that your phone stays SIM-locked, but the most important part is to request unlock token from OnePlus, so if you haven't done so yet, do it ASAP - for some reason they don't send it to you right away, but wait exactly 7 days.
Here are the instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-to-unlock-the-t-mobile-bootloader.4256319/
I was able to get it to work up to the unlock token. Now I'm waiting on a response from Oneplus since Sunday.

I got my Tmobile Oneplus 9 Pro sim unlocked but it still shows my network locked and OEM is still grayed out. Any suggestions...?
How did u get the sim unlocked, sounds like you dont have it fully unlocked.
So I got my code and then got this, but my phone didn't reset?
op\unlock_code.bin
Sending 'cust-unlock' (0 KB) OKAY [ 0.000s]
Writing 'cust-unlock' (bootloader) Device is unlocked.
OKAY [ 0.016s]
Finished. Total time: 0.045s
NVM got it, was missing last command
