EDIT:
I finally did manage to install TWRP, and then flash lineage and then addonsu.
But I forgot opengapps.
Can I install gapp later ?
I can't link my phone to the computer anymore. is there something special to do in lineageos ?
OLD POST (completely irrelevant now)
Hello,
I'm stuck at boot. The phone stays with a black screen showing "Cyanogen mod ready" forever.
I don't know what to do from here.
All I can do is boot into fastboot (volume up + power) but I don't see what I can do there.
Thanks if you can help me out.
How I got there: I had a functionning cyanogenOs 6.0.1 and decided to install lineageOs.
I figured I had to 1) unlock the bootloader 2) install twrp 3) install lineage 4) install gapps
I installed adb and fastboot on linux computer.
did "adb reboot bootloader"
then from fastboot I did "fastboot devices" and then "fastboot oem unlock". then clicked "Yes" and "reboot android"
correct drivers installed? there should be a notif in status bar usb charging, transfer files etc.

For those that, like me, could not get driver recognition on the latest Win 10 x64 no matter what you tried. And ,yes, using every tutorial I could find on this and two "other Forums". Odin failed to see my device (still can't) Cydia impactor allows rebooting into fastboot and D/L but doesn't connect in either alt. mode. Yes, drivers all removed and replaced in varying states (usbdeview, etc.).
But ADB/Fastboot works!
Make sure you have your adb/fastboot drivers installed universally (Check this Fabulous Forum)
Download device-specific TWRP - I used this one for the 4gb version - https://www.dropbox.com/s/b7u3k1mgpppxlyx/recovery.img?dl=0
L.Shift-R. click in the folder you downloaded to (Open Command Window Here) - "adb devices" (to make sure device registers) then - "adb reboot bootloader" gets you into fastboot. - "fastoot boot {your-recovery-name}.img"
I got a fully functional TOUCH CAPABLE TWRP. Which I proceeded to load this - https://www.dropbox.com/s/j1owqv7mjkdpo75/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip?dl=0 - and, VOILA! ROOT!!
I had similar issues with my laptop and drivers. Used a friend laptop in the end to "see" the phone and install twrp.

When I try to boot the recovery.img with fastboot it says that my OEM is locked. I check OEM unlock in developer options, then I do: adb reboot bootloader, then fastboot oem unlock. A warning appears saying to press VOLUME UP button to continue, voiding the warranty or VOLUME DOWN to go back. I try to press VOLUME UP and nothing happens... how did you do it?

Hi there, I have the same issue. No success
I found a way, instead of volume up, use the home button this worked for me.. however after I unlocked the OEM and flashed TWRP the phone didn't want to boot anymore. It was stuck on Elephone logo with warning: "Orange State: The phone has been unlocked and can't be trusted. Your device will boot in 5s", however it didn't boot and stayed like that for almost an hour. Had to flash back the stock firmware to boot. Tried 1 more time the procedure to root but again the same. Maybe I do something wrong?
stock fw flash back
Hi, please can you help me with how you flashed back the stock firmware?
I get an error message with twrp : invalid zip file format.
Thank you in advance!

I read somewhere the is a zip inside the update.zip & is that one that is flash able with twrp.
Have a look
During the main time I managed to flash the 0218 stock rom.
I still got the orange message but the phone finally boot. Then I just called the twrp recovery img via atb. I did nothing only touch the reboot in the twrp screen and since then "Orange status...." again.
May be the twrp recovery img is not the right one...
Bad command "fastoot boot {your-recovery-name}.img"
after OEM alow (informacion phone/compilacion number touch fast 9 times/access/alow oem)
fastboot oem unlock
"fastboot boot {your-recovery-name}.img" for me is fastboot boot recovery.img and all OK
bat still not working (phone not thrust unlocked bootloader cleaning data in 5..4..3..2..1.. and rebot)

Lenovo K5, A6020l36, running Lineage OS 14.1 unrooted, can no longer access TWRP boot loader, how do I root the phone and access TWRP without being able to access TWRP? Thanks in advance.
BTW... ADB sees the device via my Mac for what that's worth.
[DEVICE IN BOOTLOADER] [ADB VIA PROMPT IN PC]
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
Inside TWRP, go to Install > Image File > twrp.img
DONE.
(twrp.img has to be in your PC, from where you are running ADB, and in your device too.)
You could also:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
and try to see if your recovery is fixed.

Reinstall your adb/fastboot and device drivers. If you can run it in a Linux PC, it would be better. This is a common issue.
(Oh, and don't forget to enable USB debugging in Developer settings on your device, that's super important).

I would suggest :
Shutdown your device
Reboot to fastboot mode via "Power" + "Volume -" for a few seconds until you reboot and see a Lenovo blank screen with "Power key long press can reboot the phone" at the bottom
Plug your device to your computer
Test fastboot via "fastboot devices" on your computer (you should see a number)
Flash TWRP via "fastboot flash recovery <the TWRP file on your computer>"
Reboot to TWRP by holding "Power" + "Volume +" and select "recovery" on the menu that will appear
Hope it will work for you
Hi all,
While trying to install custom mod i accidentally deleted my original rom as well as the custom rom from my phone. I can access twrp fast boot but while trying to install zip file its missing from phone. Any way to install any custom rom at this point?
Update : Restarted my phone ( well powered off coz of low battery) . When i charged and switched it on , twrp is not there . Instead when i go to recovery mode , the original one plus recovery mode is appearing.

Sideloading is the easiest option.
Boot into TWRP, find ADB Sideload mode (I think it's under "Advanced", not sure), connect phone to PC via USB cable and flash ROM directly from PC with "adb sideload rom-name" command.
This is a very short version, if you need me to explain anything in depth just say it

Sorry for late reply.
So, first things first, make sure you have working adb/fastboot on your PC (you can get it >>HERE<< if you need it; select Y for all options).
- download latest TWRP recovery >>HERE<<
- download a ROM of your choice
- in case you go for a custom ROM you'll probably also need latest firmware (CLICK), Gapps (CLICK) and possibly Magisk (CLICK)
- open command prompt in folder where you've put all downloaded files - hold Shift and right click in that folder > open command window here.
- boot phone into fastboot mode and connect it to PC
- type fastboot devices in cmd to see if the phone is properly recognized (should say something like "device #serial-number" IIRC)
- flash TWRP by typing fastboot flash recovery recovery-name.img
- reboot device into recovery mode. Fastboot generally doesn't support rebooting into recovery, but our phone makes it easy with that 5 second timeout on boot. Type fastboot reboot and as soon as it displays that warning screen press a volume button and then scroll to recovery with volumpe up/down.
You should be booted into TWRP now. Let's continue to flashing a ROM.
Assuming you're going for a custom ROM, start with firmware:
- select "Advanced" in TWRP
- select "ADB Sideload"
- swipe to start sideload
- type adb devices in cmd - it should recognize that the device is in sideload mode
- type adb sideload firmware.zip and wait for it to finish
- go back to main TWRP screen and repeat the steps to get into sideload mode
- type adb sideload rom-filename.zip
- repeat to flash Gapps and Magisk
If you chose to flash stock ROM rather than custom then you can skip firmware and Gapps and flash just the ROM (and possibly magisk, that's up to you).
Done! Now you can boot into system.
Hello guys!
I just unlocked my Redmi Note 5, and I want to flash it to pixel experience 8.1.0 Oreo.
I've been reading around a lot about the antirollback thingy on the RN5, and all those risks to brick the phone etc.
How can I make sure to flash the phone without risking to brick it?
Before you tell me to read around (which I have), I just want to confirm if these are the right steps for me.
I have firstly enabled USB debugging.
I downloaded minimal ADB and fastboot tool and ran the code "Fastboot Devices" it found my device due I get some numbers etc...
In Fastboot I also wrote "Fastboot Getvar Anti" and got the code 4. So I'm guessing my antirollback thingy is 4...
Sooo here is the steps I want to do next, correct me if I'm wrong.
1. I have downloaded TWRP version 3.2.3.2 from this website: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/whyred/
And I downloaded LazyFlasher from this website: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657590339.
I got that LazyFlasher link from here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....aomi-redmi-note-5-whyred-unlock-t3778049/amp/
2. Now since my antirollback is 4 (and correct me if I'm wrong here), my next step now is to boot the phone I "Fastboot" by holding volume down button + Power button. And then write in the console from the computer "Fastboot boot TWRP.img".
Here is what I'm wondering. Is it "Fastboot boot TWRP.img" or "Fastboot flash TWRP.img"??
3. Let say that it's "Fastboot boot TWRP.img". The next step from here is to install the TWRP image inside TWRP recovery. And after when I have installed TWRP and should flash to LazyFlasher. After that reboot and boot up to TWRP recovery again.
4. Now since I have TWRP installed, I'm guessing everything is correct??
From here can I just wipe everything and flash to a custom ROM I have downloaded??
I have already downloaded Pixel experience 8.1.0. Or should I do something else?
5. If everything is correct, can I flash my kernel to derp kernel 4.2 even though I have Oreo 8.1.0??
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/development/derp-kernel-clang-4-4-138-t3804996
Thank you!
In question 3 I believe it is "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img"
After I did this and flashed lazy flasher mine did not boot into two recovery but was replaced by stock recovery.
So the 2nd time I entered fastboot on the phone. Flashed twrp again but this time used fastboot command to enter twrp recovery.
I think it was " fastboot boot recovery twrp.img"
I then was in twrp on the handset and could flash my room
My previous phone was a Redmond note 3. I am new to deep so have not looked into what it is or what newer versions do do ill leave that for you.

Previously I was using Ressurection Remix treble rom which is based on android 9 pie. I went to TWRP and wiped the OS. Then I tried to install a new rom called Dot OS. But it showed error 7. So I flashed Vendortofactory zip within twrp and without rebooting again into TWRP I flashed a new TWRP image within TWRP by selecting Recovery mode. After that I cant boot into TWRP and as already my OS is gone I also cannot boot into any system. Moreover my device is not getting detected in my PC. I cannot install TWRP by writing commands in cmd, while the phone is in fastboot mode as the device is not getting detected in my pc. Really it is urgent. I will be glad if someone helps me. Thanks in advance.
What is the present booted state of your device? Are you in twrp, or bootloader. Most of the time you can keep on pressing the power button. When it boots into a message about unlocked bootloader, press volume button to select recovery and it will boot into twrp
You should be able to boot in fastboot mode without recovery nor os, maybe your drivers are not working on windows? Try different usb ports, check if the display says "bootloader" or something. If nothing works try the usb shunt, this device is literally 'unbrickable' if it's working properly.
Watch this video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DexLELi04XY) and then you will be able to detect your phone in your pc in qcom 9008 mode , then use qfil to flash ZUI firmware ,there are plenty of tutorials on the internet for that ,then follow the proper procedure mentioned in DotOs thread for flashing the new rom .
Hope it helped .
If you don't want to flash the firmware and all long process just follow the following steps
Enter in to the boot loader make sure you installed all the drivers in to pc then open cmd windows in adb fastboot folder and enters the following cmd into the cmd
Fastboot -i 0x2b4c devices this will detect your device
After that enter
Fastboot -i0x2b4c flash recovery recovery name.img
And boom you are good to go flash the rom of your choice and enjoy
For this process you need following files
Adb and fastboot devices
Drivers of zuk z2
Latest recovery and place revovery image file into the adb and fastboot folder if you are confused about anything pm me i am not the expert but i faced simillar problem and solved by this method

This assumes u have upgraded bootloader to 4.4 kernal.
U can still boot into twrp.. When the phone is booting up press vol up key and select recovery.. From there boot into twrp. There select f2v or v2f .. Then flash twrp which u want to flash.. Reboot to recovery.. U will get promp no os installed.. Ignore and reboot to recovery . Then again d9 f2v or v2f depending on what rom to install.. Again reboot to recovery... Then flash rom of ur choice.
This procedure is needed when changing from vendor to factory and vice versa.
