actually, this is kinda puzzling for Honor considering from what I understand, Honor is meant to be Huawei's way to go into the US market, besides also being the "affordable" brand. but, they don't have the bands needed for many of the US carriers...
and the phones that do have the bands... they don't have the "flagship" specs...

oneplus didn't start this way too... they only have one variant for their latest one -- the oneplus 5.
i guess many phone manufacturers still need to have separate brands to cater to carriers that may want customisation and indirectly lock down the devices so the owners can't just move from one carrier to another (or one region to another -- parallel imports).
but yes, long term, i don't think this is good ans healthy for consumers.

This is a bummer and I'm pretty peeved that this fact was not mentioned on any sites showing specs or in any of the reviews. I live in Europe and was fully expecting my Honor 8 Pro to work on 4G mostly everywhere. Will the Honor 8 Pro work in the states on 3G/UMTS/HSDPA? Can I expect to get Internets speeds of about 42 MB/s?

Some think the 7105 is international with no LTE, but others think the opposite. many would like to know the real answer.............so we know which one to buy, wait for ATT (know that is LTE) or buy earlier the N7100, but only if it has LTE. Some websites call yes to LTE, others don't call out 4G LTE so anyone really know? FCC did a test on N7105 and called out no LTE, which them would make one believe the N7100 will have LTE.

It supports 800mhz LTE, which is European bands. Use ATT is 700/1700. based upon info, if correct, appears the N7105 is international, which should mean the N7100 is U.S. compatible for 4G LTE, per someone I spoke to who should know.

You are mistaken.
N7105 has LTE, N7100 does not.
I'm testing this for a carrier here in Singapore which has LTE running on 1.8Ghz and 2.6Ghz band.

Some stores that have SGN2 "Bånd
WCDMA (UMTS) / GSM 850/900/1800/1900" for the 7100 model. There's no 7105 at all to be found. Granted they may be wrong(also how can both 3G and LTE use 1800mhz?), but you also don't have any proof of actually having the phone. And please explain how a system dump wouldn't reveal you while a screenshot can. I can't understand, there's a lot more to be extracted from a system dump.

Hello, what changes between N7105 and my N7100?

Can I use this phone in London?

I'm gong to London for work. Is there a way I can use this phone?
It is a global phone. Just need to get a SIM card from over there to pop in. Sure there are others that can go more in depth but in a nutshell the answer is yes

Yes. Just used it there for 3 weeks. Drop into a Carphone Warehouse and get a 3 SIM card. Unlimited data, calls and text (within the UK, of course) for £15.

The Verizon Wireless HTC One is a true world phone, with quad-band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), dual-band EV-DO Rev. A (850/1900 MHz), dual-band UMTS (1900/2100 MHz), and LTE support; it runs at 4G speeds here in the U.S. and 3G speeds overseas in most countries.

[Q] Advice needed: LG G3 D856 vs D858 and UK LTE Coverage

Hi all. I'm looking to buy an LG G3 Dual LTE but being in the UK my understanding is that only the D856 would offer better LTE experience considering it supports the FDD 800m Band (FDD: B1(2100), B3(1800), B7(2600), B8(900), B20(800), unlike the D858 which supports 2100(B1)/1800(B3)/2600(B7)MHz .
I've been looking for this model for days now but all I can find is the D858 which seem to be widely available.
What are people experiences with the D858 in the UK? Has anyone managed to buy a D856 from anywhere?
The SIM I will be using for LTE is a Three SIM
Alternatively can anyone recommend a good alternative to this phone? (Not S5 or M8 though)
Thanks in advance
Anyone?

Should I buy a Nexus 5X US model for use outside US;

The ~35% price difference between US ans UK purchases of Nexus 5X had me thinking about finding a way to get a Nexus 5X from US.
My concern is, will I have any issues with the device, if I use it in a european country (I live in Greece)? For instance 4G not working or other connectivity issues.
What should I be aware of before making that move?
TIA
Greece uses LTE bands 3 and 7, and UMTS band 1.
The US version of the 5X has these so you would be OK in Greece.

Should be the same! I think most of the European countrys use band 1,3,7 and 20
You can see the bands for italy on wiki (I´m not allowed to post links yet so im gonna describe where)
search google for "lte frequency bands italy" and use the link List of LTE networks in europe.
Greetings
You guys have to consider warranty as well as exchanges. Might be cheaper, but in the long run could be more expensive. Don't you guys have 2 year warranties?

If you don't care about the warranty then I day go for it if the spectrum is there. You won't have a warranty buying an out of market one.

It's a risk for sure, but the price difference I think justifies it. My concern now is whether service centers for LG here in Greece, will service US devices or they'll respond that they have no spare parts for the US model.
That's only if nothing goes wrong. I believe if you look at LG Nexus 5 section you might be able to find your answer if the do cross warranty. Something tells me they won't, because it doesn't work the other way around. From what I have seen people who bought international versions here had to send it to where the device was intended for. Sometimes the importer might give a limited warranty or some sort of warranty plan you can purchase.

Am I safe to flash my device?
Thanks in advance.
Technically, it can work. But unlocking your bootloader is the first step. So.... If you can do that then by all means flash twrp.

It used to be. But I think ever since the Galaxy S7 all U.S. Samsung models are locked.

The Galaxy S9 US Snapdragon models do not have an unlockable bootloader. This is due to Snapdragon wanting the bootloader of the US variants locked. You would need a international S9+ with an Exynos chip. Which I believe does not work very well on US Cellular networks so you are basically out of luck.

Almost fully correct. The Hong Kong/Chinese/Latin American models work just fine with a little work. And their snapdragon bootloader can be unlocked. (I have the sm-g9650 s9+)
Also the exynos works fine with some work but will not utilize cdma tech such as 1x/3g signals.

what are you talking about? I have an A8 which is strictly in the F model lineup (exynos processor etc etc) and it works just fine here in the USA. LTE and all.
I guess i should say that the 18 year old is now using it. Very capable little phone.

i havent used CDMA in years and i dont miss it lol!! I thought it was HILARIOUS when vzw was putting their commercials out bragging how they have the best cdma network. Specifically bragging about CDMA...... while they used LTE as their data connection, which is GSM based LOL

Yeah unfortunately vzw still uses some cdma. But regardless I still prefer snapdragon processor. Better performance and battery life overall has been my experience.
But there are certain devs and groups that contribute a great deal of work towards making these non-US model devices work on our US carriers.

The changes we make allow us to use volte, wifi calling, ims, etc. Mostly the carrier specific functions.

thats just apks baked into the firmware tho. im talking about physically limited things, thats all software limitations
but yes, i also prefer the snapdragon. The processor in the A8 is no slouch tho. Hell, the FFC in the A8 is actually superior to that of the S9. I know why that is and all, its just weird to me

Is there a model for the S9 that can be used on Verizon and bootloader unlocked? I am thinking about buying one but would like one that can be bootloader unlocked and rooted.

The Exynos international version (I think it's the G960F (S9) and G965F (S9+)) There is a China Snapdragon variant but you probably would be better off picking up a Exynos for the best experience since the G9600 is really only meant for the Chinese market.

The G9600 and G9650 both work fine in the US. I know several people that use it on Verizon.

Wrong it's not just apks. But as far a software snapdragon out performs exynos everytime. Didn't mean to put a thank lol. Oh well

please explain how its not just software differences. Volte, wifi calling etc etc is 100% software related on the S9. Mostly based on the CSC. And i never said that the snapdragon doesnt outperform the Exynos.
