I removed all bloat, have 310mb internal memory free (ran supercharger)
I configured setcpu 806max, 134min, smartass governor and screen off profile 365max 134min
When the screen is off, i don't have the drain. It was at 74% when i went to sleep, when i got up about 9 hours later it was STILL at 74%, so there's practically no drain when the screen is off which is really nice.
But when the screen is on, the drain is immense. I have about 1% drain every 3min when the screen is on. It's on max brightness. I just left the screen on continuously for about 3 hours, and it has gone from 70% to 14% in just those 3 hours leaving the screen on (just leaving the screen on, doing nothing else on the phone).
Is this normal? If not, can somebody tell me how i can find out what is causing this drain? I'm happy about the drain (which is zero to none) when the screen is off though...
you are doing everything ,however if you are using high powered apps like Muffin Knight/Experiment /etc they will drain battery fast under 3 hours
I'm not running any apps besides the standard+setcpu
Display needs to be lowered. Make it Auto.
Turn Wifi off. If you don't need it, it's just awful to have it on because it's always searching & searching and wasting battery.
Also, use this app that I'll link below. It has something called a "Smart Power-saving" function where all 2/3/4G and WiFi will shut off when your battery is 20% or lower, thus leaving only Phone and SMS activated, and there's an option for root users where the cpu will underclock when the screen is locked! It DEFINITELY helps!

I'm on stock, rooted, s-off
my device is getting extremely hot during normal use.(i dont play games at all, just whatsapp, facebook, news etc..)
sync is off, auto brightness.no google location reporting and history, no google now or history.
and using bbs to see what is going on ,i have no wakelocks and looking at battery screen, screen on time and awake time are almost identical.so nothing is keeping my device awake.
but for some reason, when the device is idle, the cpu goes nuts!
i installed cpu status bar xposed module so i could monitor cpu on real time, and i see the device jumping allot from 300mhz to 960 and 1000+ for no reason.(without touching it, and no apps running).when i touch the screen it scales to maximum.
it drives me crazy because i dont understand why the cpu behave like that.there is no logical reason for cpu going to max when i'm typing text.
its unbearable, cause its getting really hot while i hold it.
i have tried various kernels(elementalx, skydragon, faux, ionx, hacker kernel, but all of them shows that behavior.
on my old i9100, i never got that behavior, ondemand governor was perfect and i could reach 4 hours of screen on time.with the m8, i can barley pass it , going for 4-5 hours, because its draing too fast.
any suggestions?

Can I ask... are you sure this is abnormal? I mean, are you seeing ill effects? Is the device laggy? Is your screen-off battery time awful?
All OS's do stuff in the background, and "idle" doesn't really mean anything at all to be honest -- even when you "don't have any apps running" there are apps running, and you'll always see the CPU cycle from idle to low speed to high speed if you're looking for it.

i know there are background process and apps, and i don't except the device to stay at 300mhz all the time, but its quite annoying to hold on to a device and feel its temperature rising to insane levels without doing anything fancy with it.just texting.and every touch ramp the cpu to the max frequency, its weird.and unnecessary.
i don't know if its normal behavior, as i mentioned, my old i9100(galaxy s2) would not act like this. and i could get 4 hours of screen on time, and here, i get 4-5 hours max.it dose not seem logical.
I'm not using lte of nfc or BT.my reception is full(both wifi and cell).
i just want to know if this a normal behavior? anyone else having this heat buildup on light use?
I have a similar problem there on M8S. I killed half the background tasks, disabled syncing, auto backups, and then I open FBreader(or any other app) at 30% brightness and all the cpu cores go to 50 degrees C, heat up my battery to 43 degrees C. It results in loss of 40% of battery charge in just an hour. With screen off my device usually consumes 1-2% an hour. Whatever I do, I have never seen at least one core sleeping, they always work at 600-900MHz.

Of course I've installed some applications since then, but it's very strange because the Android doesn't report any abnormal processing load of any application, so I'm presuming the OS is causing the high battery consumption. After I bought the phone, I upgraded the OS to Lollipop almost forthwith. I'd like to know if it's a known issue of G3 with L version and there is something I can do to increase the battery life.
I've installed some applications that utilize the location services, but Android doesn't claim those applications are draining the battery. According to what Android reports, the screen and the OS are main things that are consuming more battery ( 24% for screen and 16% for OS )

You should root your LG G3, then install xposed, greenify amplify and powernap. Those apps will control your wakelocks and alarms. This will also improve your battery life.
May I also suggest to reduce screen DPI. Reduced mine from 640 to 534, added about 45-60 mins of SOT
Are you talking screen on time? Or idle battery drain. Because these are two very different things. Quite often it is the way you are using your phone and the applications installed that will cause your battery life to become worse.
Of course you have the obvious things such as disabling data when you aren't using it and wifi and so on. Through my experience I have found amplify to be of little use if you are generally cautious about the apps you install. Facebooks apps are terrible. Any instant messager will be causing some sort of drain. The problem definitely arrises from these things and while you can install many other apps to limit these things. I often find it is best to address the problem at the source. Perform a factory reset. Then begin installing your apps one by one and seeing when the hit comes. Thats my advice. Then find an alternative to the problematic app. That or BBS to find what is causing wakelocks. Remember, if you are gaming the processor is going to eat battery.

The best way to get better battery:
1. Root
2. Debloat - delete useless app's and files from root directory!
3. 3845*#855# (855 its international model, put your model: 851, 852, etc) and search for Thermal Daemon Mitigation OFF, then click and enable it, and search Fast Dormancy and turn off, and in High Temperature Property OFF enable it too and turn off your phone for atleast 40 seconds, turn on and wait 1 minute with screen on to update those things.
4. Xposed with Greenify
5. TricksterMOD and set the CPU freq. to min. 300Mhz and max to 1.540MHz (if you use the phone normally, and dont play games).
6. in TricksterMOD set the GPU to 330Mhz for powersave.
7. Developer Options active the "Force GPU to 2D graphics"
8. Use brightness according with your needs, not only keep it in 100% (i know in 100% looks beautyful but screen is a battery beast).
This is what i have in mine and i can guarantee if you use moderate it can go up to 3 day's, mine got 5 hours and 20 minuts in On Screen Time so...
Anyone else notice the phone also got super snappy and smooth all the time? I tried turning on show refresh rate an hour ago just to find out the phone never go back down to 60hz.
I tried not touching the screen untill it actually auto lock, opening youtube, netflix, tiktok, chrome, settings etc etc. I even rebooted and no change. Battery life has been slightly better which is kinda weird though.
Also i checked twice, the force peak refresh rate is turned off.
Try clearing the system cache.

I just checked my phone (updated to .037), and the refresh rate is still dropping to 60hz whenever there is no input, so the adaptive refresh rate still works on my end.
My phone is dropping to 60 when there's no input as well. I just played a YouTube video and it went to 60.
On my device i have the exact same problem. As you already described, it is "always" on 120hz - it only jumps down to 60 Hz for a very brief moment, then again reaches the 120hz. This cicle is repeating itself as long as the display is turned on.
I already tried disabling all overlay services and other settings that could, as far as I could think of, have an impact on these behavior, like apps that have access to usage or device controll etc.
But as for now, I don't have a solution for this.
The strange part is that i also have a better display on time since the last update, but after checking the battery temperature for the last week (i installed the .037 on thursday) it reaches higher temperatures now as it was before the update, with around 34 Celsius on .036 vs 38 Celsius on .037 after around an hour of the same activities in the mostly same environment. I only ask because I don't have any major issues and fingers crossed this update doesn't make anything worse.

Officially it's only a rollout in the USA and Canada, it will come to the rest of the world with the December update (or you manually sideload it, as I did).

Adaptive refresh is totally borked on the 6Pro.
My Asus ROG Phone 6 loses 5% battery life in 24h while just idling.
WiFi and Bluetooth are turned off. I don't have a SIM card installed yet, but even with a "Aeroplane mode" activated, I get the same consumption.
Is that consumption normal?
What irritates me is that in the beginning I saw horizontal lines in the "Battery usage" chart, indicating close to zero battery consumption when the phone was turned off. I don't get these horizontal segments anymore.
I installed GSam Battery Monitor and it shows 100% time spent in Deep sleep (but shows a "5% / 5%" for "Discharge Screen Off"). In the "OTHERS" chart, "Doze" is a continuous line but "Active" shows a lot of interrupted small blocks ("Screen" is obviously completely absent). "Wifi" is shown as always on, but I believe that is a bug because I turned off the location-based features that turn on Wifi automatically, turned on Aeroplane mode, etc. After a restart, the "Wifi" bar was correctly absent for a while but briefly turning Wifi on, got it back to "always on". I'm 99.9% sure this is a GSam bug.
I have double confirmed with "DevCheck" that the CPU goes to "Deep sleep" and spends pretty much all the time in that state.
I get about "5m" combined App Wakelocks in 48h.
The biggest battery consumer is "Kernel (Android OS) 7.5%", followed by "System (*wakelock*) 2.3%", "Google Play services 1.6%". These figures are from a 14 day period in which I used the phone for 3h to play a game (6.7% consumption) and otherwise only turned it on to check the battery. I currently don't have access to the percentage figures during pure sleeping since I plugged in the phone for charging.
Using GSam Battery Monitor, I don't see any app wasting battery life in the background. It's the kernel that consumes the vast majority of the battery life, if the phone is idle. The Android/Asus Battery usage stats show "Phone idle" with 54.7% for that 14 day period. The next one is the game with 3.8% (played for 3h) and then there is "Screen" with 1.9%.
I'd understand this kind of idle figure if the phone had a SIM card installed and bad reception but as I said before there is no card in the phone yet and the consumption is the same if I put it in Aeroplane mode.

I realize that many will not be able to compare this with their figures, as they'll have a cell phone service running, but perhaps those who turns on Aeroplane mode, should have comparable figures, for an 8h period, or so.
My Huawei Mate 20 (running Android 10) shows pretty much no consumption at all over night via the battery stats, when I turn on Aeroplane mode. Perhaps it loses 1% or at most 2%, I'll check again. Should the ROG Phone 6 behave the same, or is this difference to be expected?
Again, I'm irritated that I definitely saw multiple horizontal (no usage) periods in the battery usage chart in the beginning. I'm pretty sure these appeared before I had given the phone a full charge yet, so perhaps they weren't really indicative of close to zero consumption due to a lack of battery capacity calibration.

I'm not so sure.
First, remember that this figure is without any cell phone service drawing current.
Second, I initially saw segments of the battery consumption graph that were horizontal, but no longer do.
Third, look at what Thanos88 reported.
I've seen other posts about unusually high idle consumption of the ROG Phone 6. I believe most users will not even notice because they don't shut down their phones fully and the idle consumption disappears as noise under the all the higher normal consumption. Perhaps other users don't complain, because they don't suffer from the issue I seem to be having. I don't know.

I note that you are not on the latest version (.241). That could explain the difference. Perhaps I saw the near to zero consumption before I accepted the update to .241? That is quite possible.
I've done a lot of app debloating as well, removing Facebook, etc., but as I mentioned before, there are no apps that cause any noteworthy battery consumption. Did you do anything out of the ordinary? I first just uninstalled and/or disabled some apps/services that I did not need and later even uninstalled some via ADB. The latter made no difference regarding battery consumption.
My 5%/24h figure comes from
41.3% Android System
15.2% Kernel (Android OS)
4.4% Phone Services
3.5% com.android.systemui:screenshot
3.1% Google Play services
2.0% com.google.uid.shared:.....
1.9% GSam Battery Monitor
0.9% ASUS Launcher

Try to force stop and clear data & clear cache of Google play services , then reboot your device , charge to full and then see what happens

Are you saying that either Google Play services are using battery in a way that GSam does not catch, or that Google Play services somehow responsible for the high system consumption?
I would say Google play services is causing the issue. Also I forgot to mention, make sure you force stop, then click "uninstall updates" on Google play services, then clear cache , then Clear data then reboot your phone.
If that doesn't help, I highly recommend you dow load BBS (Better battery stats) , give it adb permissions, and monitor your battery life/wakelocks with that app

Are you saying that either Google Play services are using battery in a way that GSam does not catch, or that Google Play services somehow responsible for the high system consumption?

I followed the steps you described (including the "uninstall updates") and will report results, once the phone has fully charged and has idled for 24h. If there is no change, I'll uninstall GSam and install BBS.

Sadly, clearing the data&cache of Google Play services and downgrading it, did not help, at least it does not look like it helped right now.
This time, the battery lost 6% in 30h (went from 100% to 94%).
The last few hours showed very little battery consumption, though. Perhaps there was some book keeping to do after reboot which caused some consumption up until very recently.
I'll let the phone idle for another 24h and see whether the flat period continues. It would be awesome if it did.

Three updates more current than your .197 version.
I would have thought that if Google Play services were at fault, GSam Battery Monitor would have showed that. But perhaps not. I'll see whether BBS will provide any better clues. I could also try to disable Google Play services (just for diagnosing purposes), but I'm not sure that would result in any useful data, as many apps complain, if one disables Google Play services completely.
I suspect the difference between your idle consumption and mine is the firmware version. I've disabled/restricted so many apps/services, I doubt the phone would run normally now. So far, no culprit has been identified.

It's going to be the firmware then, or maybe even an app you've installed. I'm currently on 44% battery, with 9 hours 41 mins SOT, 1 days 2 hours off charge

I think I can exclude any user apps, since,
1. The issue is the same if I start the phone in "Safe mode" (disables all user apps).
2. GSam Battery Monitor would have reported high usage by an app.
The battery consumers are the OS and motion sensors.
I turned off "Lift phone to check" (or similar) and the phone indeed does not activate the lock screen when I move it while the screen is dark. The phone stills faintly shows the fingerprint area if I move it, so some motion detection must be going on. I don't think this behaviour can be disabled, or can it?

The fingerprint motion can be switched off in the settings however, it's probably the firmware that's causing the main issue imo

Not sure if it's just me or they've removed that option looks like it can't be removed but I surely that motion can't be the battery culprit. It has to be the firmware
