Mirrorlink with A3 2017 - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

Hi all,
just a simple question - had anybody succeeded with MirrorLink? And with full phone mirroring (not just with the limited number of apps allowed)? If so, how? My A320FL is updated to the latest available Android 6.0.1, then rooted.
I tried several apps and guides together with two cars (Toyota & Skoda) with no success:
1) Samsung CarMode - the latest available from the market is not the latest, as I found somewhere here, but anyway: it doesn't do anything with Skoda and does show "Your phone is connected through MirrorLink" when connected with Toyota Touch 2, but shows nothing on the display. No option to start it is displayed on Toyota display, Skoda Amundsen says "no compatible app found".
2) LG MirrorDrive - does not even start, but it's shown as compatible app in Skoda. And once, I got the display in portrait mode shown on Skoda display for few seconds.
3) Android Auto - even though it's not accessible in my country (don't know why), I installed the latest version, but it is possible to start this app only on the phone, no car sees it.

Thanks for idea, but it's unfortunately not the right thing - this deals with app flickering when the phone is already connected via MirrorLink. In my case, I don't see anything related to phone display on the car's display. In the meantime, I found out, that the possible problem could be system incompatibility - Samsung supports only MirrorLink 1.1 and Toyota is MirrorLink 1.0 (that's why all the videos online with Toyota are shown with the old S3). I also found out, that Samsung dropped the backward compatibility on Bluetooth, so i.e. old integrated handsfree in 2007 Yaris is now unusable. Shame on Samsung, did those people ever see a car?

Finally, got it working. But not thanks only to myself
The first is thanks to Toyota - there has to be at least HE3934 firmware version loaded (that I found out only when trying to make the mirrorlink running in a new Yaris).
The second is, that in phone, only one mirrorlink app is allowed and it shall be LG MirrorDrive for make it running in Toyota (Samsung CarMode app supports only VW group vehicles - possibly because they provide VW with the whole infotainment and related electronics).
The third and most important is the cable - it has to be a cable that "somehow" supports mirrorlink - Samsung original cable is ok, but I firstly tested it with another "noname" cable, which works only sometimes. Only during longer continuous driving period I found out, that the "impossible to connect" periods happen when the phone and cable shake - maybe some contact is doubled in the original cable.
As last I need to say, that LG MirrorDrive mirrors any running app, but after you run an app, mirroring quits with message, that the function is not available during driving. But it starts the app in background anyway, so when you run LG MirrorDrive on the infotainment again (without disconnecting or anyhow touching the phone), the system opens directly in the app you started before. It's also good to turn off the notifications for LG MirrorDrive, as it shows a message about incompatibility every time it's started.
So I hope that the lines above help also somebody else.

Can a samsung a3 2017 screen mirror? If yes then how please??

... but only working with nougat. Android 8 not working any more. ?

Please send me

TP2 / Kenwood BT Contacts Download Issue

I have a Kenwood KDC-MP642U car audio system with Bluetooth capabilities and I have my HTC Touch Pro 2 [t-mobile] successfully paired and working great with 1 annoying exception.
As soon as the units connect to each other the contacts / phone book start downloading from the phone to the Kenwood system which is fine, however..... after EVERY call the contacts download fully again making the phone barely usable [slow] until the full phone book is downloaded. [90 secs for 150 contacts]
There is no setting on the Kenwood unit to not allow automatic download... if the phone supports it.... it will download. I was told by sales rep that his Kenwood did that as well and just to live with it ? ? ? ? ? ?
I have tried to find the appropriate registry setting on TP2 to deny auto PBAP access and download and cant find any help on this...... any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same setup, and noticed it on my prior phone as well (Motorola KRZR K1). I believe that the phone is updating the "recent calls" list on the headunit. I know for me the second download is MUCH faster than the first.
I haven't seen any information about preventing the update download.
this should do the trick:

Parrot Asteroid

Anyone know anything about this stereo -
http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/bluetooth-hands-free-car-kits/parrot-asteroid
Even, where it can be bought, how much it is? What OS it runs for that matter?
well it says that it has Android embedded, so the OS is Android
it looks pretty interesting too...
as for when/where/how much, the site says "Coming soon in 2011", so I'm guessing that it is yet-to-be-offered and they may not have decided their MSRP yet.
William
First, I don't know if I can post links yet. Second, I'm too lazy to dig it up. They had an article on Androidpolice during CES that included a speaker from Parrot showcasing it. I think he said a Q2 release. I'll be getting this the second its released, regardless of price.
anyone have any more details on this? Q2 is all they're saying...
I want one now!!
For the European markets, they say May. Hopefully the beginning of May
Hope they didn't get a developer team from Motorola, then it's going to takes at least another year
next week
i was infomrmed dynamicsounds expected to be stocked next week
wonder if its worth getting
i am currently considering getting it as i need a car kit any way
apperantly they are avalible as of today at 289 euro in the netherlands
I have one
I currently have an Asteroid sitting on my desk here
When I find some time tonight I'll take it for a testdrive and let you guys know!
Excellent. Please let us know.
What apps are available at the moment?
Im hoping for Spotify and proper navigation once the sdk is released...
Yay, someone that has the Asteroid!
Please, let us now!
And, tell us how the music player works.
I want to hook a big memory card, or if there's room a 40GB laptop harddisk to the unit.
Also, streaming from Bluetooth from your phone. Btw, what kind of phone do you have?
(And hmm.. Gorinchem.. That's not that far from my weekly commute.. )
Asteroid
Been driving around with the Asteroid for a while now and it's a pretty neat radio but not perfect.
Building it into the car was a breeze. With the radio came all the needed cables, like a 3,5mm jack, iPod cable, USB cable for usb-sticks, GPS dongle and microphone for the carkit. All cables were pretty long so you should have no problem routing them to whatever place you want them in your car.
Soundquality is pretty good and there are plenty of connections for subwoofers and external amplifiers so it should suffice even for cars with loads of fat speakers.
Connecting my phone, an HTC Desire with CyanogenMod 7.1 (nightly build), was easy through bluetooth and streaming music over bluetooth went without problems. Answering phonecalls and navigating the menu is pretty easy.
A few problems I ran into though. To use internet on the radio (for google maps, internet radio, coyote speed camera alerts) you can either use a 3g USB dongle (which costs you at least 10€ a month where I live) or tether your phone through bluetooth (maybe usb works, haven't tried yet). To do this, your phone needs to support the bluetooth DUN profile which android lacks. Nokia phones should be no problem though. I've tried using 3rd party apps like PDANet but to no avail.
Furthermore I found that the device lacks some tweaking capabilities. For example, when i'm navigating my contacts from my phone, the device tries to "read" the contacts for me using text-to-speech. I've found no way to turn this off. Furthermore I could find no option in the settings to turn off the traffic announcements from radio. The device now switches to radio when i'm listening to music from my SD card to bring me the traffic information (Which can be skipped by pressing the "back" button). Finally, the device came with a Dutch language setting and i've found no way to turn this to English, which is the language I prefer.
Please note, I have only used this radio for a short while and I might've missed some things! I think this is a very nice radio though and since it is the first model and only out for a week or so now I think there will be some updates from Parrot's side, perhaps expanding the capabilities of this device. The only major drawback is the lack of internet connectivity if you have an Android phone. This is not Parrot's fault though but rather Google's. I heard though that Honeycomb supports Bluetooth PAN and I think the Asteroid supports this for Internet tethering so i'm keeping my hopes up for Android Icecream to bring this feature to my phone.
Pro:
- Lots sources for music: Radio, USB stick, SD Card, iPod, 3.5mm Jack line-in
- Android with Google Maps
- Speed camera Alerts
- Large screen (for a single DIN radio unit)
- Lots of cables came with the Radio (With a Pioneer your need to buy overpriced iPod cables separately)
- Its a handsfree carkit, and Parrot knows how to make those by now
- Lots of tweaking possible with the sound
Con:
- Internet does not work with Android phones (yet)
- Lacks certain tweaking possibilities in the settings menu
Feel free to ask any questions
Thank you for the excellent review.
Those drawbacks are major issues,
but Im hoping Parrot will come up with some patches
soon.
The Asteroid is not on sale here yet, and it might take a while.
But I am going to Holland later this month..
Anyone know a place close to Schiphol that sell Parrot equipment?
I also have the Parrot Asteroid for a few days now. But I can't get thetering trough Bluetooth working on my HTC Desire Z (Android 2.2).
I used an app called "PdaNet" or something, with that I can enalbe "Dun - Dia-up Network". And I can make a connection with the parrort trough Settings > Network > Bluetooth. But as soon as I try to use an application that uses internet, it won't work and says I need a internet connection.
Anyone know how I can use DUN or PAN, because an Asteroid doesn't have WiFi and can't tether trough USB ??
Thanx!
RobertR21,
Android does currently not support PAN or DUN so using that is probably not possible without any 3rd party software. I tried PDAnet aswell but it did not work.
You might try connecting your phone to the 3G dongle port on your asteroid through USB, as android supports USB tethering, I have not tried this myself. I can verify though that DUN works, I tried it with my Nokia and it worked flawlessly.
I hear there's rumours on the Internets though that Android icecream is going to support PAN though, so maybe then we can use our android phones. Maybe before that time Parrot will find a solution.
Does anyone know which 3g USB dongles work with the Asteroid?
In my case: I have a Trekstor/Huawei MiFi which can also be used as a "Stick" - Will this work via USB? My Asteroid Device ships in (wish me luck) tomorrow. Pimpin' my Ride is planned at Saturday ;-)
ThX
Hi, I've got the this Parrot Asteriod also.
And For you guys I can use bluetooth internet though my old HTC Hero. I can do it also with other phones. but there is a trick for it.
First root your phone, this is absolutely nessasary.
Then download from the market 'Wireless Tether for root users'(it is a free app).
This one has internet tethering through bluetooth.
Go to menu and select bluetooth instead of wifi.
then go to access-control and eneble it.
Make the bluetooth visible in the tether program.
On the asteroid go to setting and then network and then bluetooth is will find your phone(again) and press the nice parrot butten and it connects.
then on your phone again give it authorization to use the tether and you have your internet.
One problem is that you have to connect manually every time. (your carkit does it automaticly) but not the internet. But at least you can then enjoy your live radio and google maps if you want to.
You only have to have the tether active and connect only through the radio other steps are not needed anymore after.
Internet through usb with your doesn't work, to bad.
One issue that I've encountered with this radio the front panel will become pretty hot after playing an half hour on a high volume. does anyone else have this problem also?
Hi,
I am also considering getting an Asteroid. I have several questions:
- Is there also offline navigation available?
- Can any app from the normal market be installed? Or is there a special Parrot market?
- What Android version is installed?
- Anyway to root it? (What ever functionality this would add?)
Greetings

For disablieng the traffic information go to tuner, select a radio station then press the menu button there you can edit if you want traffic information on or of.
text to speech, try the menu button in the app contacts you can change it there. I like that so I didn't look at it yet.
The most options regarding a app can be found in the app it self. try to look for tweaking option there.

Everyone can correct me if I'm wrong
anyone already tried getting in touch with the radios file system?
I assume those usb ports only are usb hosts?
there's a new firmware out:
http://download.parrot.com/Parrot_Asteroid_soft_update/asteroid_update_fr_FR.plf
It's nearly 90 MB, so it looks as a complete android software build.
can we get this extracted? modders, come on
EDIT:
there exist some plftools for other Parrot Devices. Maybe they can be used to extract useful stuff out of the Asteroid firmware files...

parrotparts=nand0:256K(Pbootloader),16M(Pmain_boot),4M(Pfactory),241408K(Psystem) console=ttyPA0,115200 loglevel=8 update
maybe it is possible to divide the plf file into parts and mount them somehow? (http://plugcomputer.org/plugforum/index.php?topic=478.0)

[Q] Fiat/Alfa Blue&Me and galaxy Nexus

Hello,
Has anyone sucessfully paired a galaxy nexus (running latest stock 4.3) with Fiat/Alfa Blue&Me (1st gen) and have it functional?
I have tried everything that went to my mind. I have upgraded the car Blue&Me to the latest version (5.6), and that allowed me to pair the phone, former versions didn't even work for pairing. However, even though it's paired, it only says "connected" for a few (2-3) seconds and I am not asked for access to the contact book. When trying to call, I get "try again later".
Thanks for your suggestions.
I tried 4.2.2 and 4.0.4, same behavior.
I tried on a N5 running 4.4, same
OK, I got it working, I will explain here the steps I took so it may help someone.
- First upgrade your car blue&me to the latest available version: http://www.blueandme.net/blueandme/index.aspx#/support/download/
Follow the instructions to the letter, never remove the memory stick until you car tells you to do it.
- Next, pull the blue&me fuse out for 10 minutes to allow windows to fully shut down (on an Alfa Mito, the fuse it F36)
- Then put the fuse back, and go into the blue&me menu, select settings and do a full factiry init of the system
- Pull the fuse again for 10 minutes to be sure windows will do a clean start
- Remove the blue&me pairings you had on your phone if any, and disable android beam
- Pair the phone like you used to do.
Blue&Me pairing issue
I am having the same issue with my OnePlus One. The BT system of my car (2009 Fiat Bravo) just won't communicate with my phone. It says "connected" forever, and doesn't get any further. My previous phone got paired easily and transferred the phone numbers, but it is not happening to my new phone. Frustrating.
Now I see you have posted some instructions. Maybe there is help for me too.
Someone can make sms reader working with an android device ? Audio and contacts works.
Inviato dal mio MI 3W utilizzando Tapatalk.
Got it!
I also had a problem connecting my OnePlus Two to my Giulietta Blue & Me, but I finally got it to work - and without pulling out fuses. Huge thanks to @renaud for his guide above.
In case it's useful, this is what I did.
- updated the Blue & Me to the latest version
- on my phone, forgot the bluetooth entry for Blue & Me
- went to settings > user data > delete all
- settings > user pairing
- on my phone, selected Blue & Me, typed in the code
- Again, as previously, the car said that it worked, and the phone said connected for a couple of seconds but then disconnected
- I then clicked on the Blue & Me entry on the phone to force it to reconnect. It connected, but then disconnected.
- I did it again, and in the few seconds that it was connected, I think I tried to select Phonebook on the car
- Anyway, some combination of repeatedly getting the phone to connect and clicking about on the car suddenly got it to stick.
A pain in the neck, but now that it's connected, it seems to work perfectly.
Good luck!

Peugeot 208 Full mirroring/Android Auto

Evening all,
I recently acquired a 2016 Peugeot 208 - Much to my dismay however it only supports Apple Carplay and mirrorlink, which is not ideal for me as a Samsung S7 edge user with the advent of Android Auto as the very superior UX.
Whilst mirrorlink works for the odd app I find it all in all useless and so for now I just have my phone mounted below the head unit using the android auto UI on my phone.
Peugeot have iced the cake by telling me that they can't add Android Auto functionality to my head unit in February when they release the new 208s with it, which strikes me as ridiculous given it has a USB interface which means if it can run Apple Carplay it should be able to run Android Auto (if someone can confirm this for me just so I know I'm not being stupid that'd be great as I'm going to go and push them in the garage in February if I dont hear otherwise).
After quite some googling I have come across nothing: Does anyone have a way to completely mirror the screen of my android phone to the head unit of my car, or alternatively make it so Android Auto is miraculously supported by Mirrorlink? The wonders of rocksound appears to have been patched since it immediately recognises I'm trying to access my home screen and tells me it is not supported. For now I'm stuck either with my phone mounted or alternatively plugging an old iPhone in and tethering it, but that's not ideal given I want all my notifications etc, plus Android is just better anyway. I considered ripping out the entire head unit and putting an entire new one in but that's impractical and expensive.
If anyone has any input on this (or a link to something I've missed explaining how to fully mirror it) it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks - that seems to partially work, however I am finding that whenever I interact with anything within for example android auto, or when I try to launch an app, the smeg says that the application is not supported and I have to reselect LG mirrordrive to keep going (the same happens when starting voice control since presumably the launching of the google now overlay that triggers it) - okay whilst Im sitting still but a touch impractical for when Im driving. It's certainly a decent workaround for now, however if there's something I can change that will make it either so it doesnt error with every app being opened or an alternative, that would be much appreciated.
Cheers
I'm so sorry .It was worth trying. This works at Honda, VW, Skoda und SEAT.

I'm in a very similar (worse) situation as you are. I have a Nexus 6P, which doesn't even support MirrorLink... only Android Auto. And my 208 has CarPlay and MirrorLink, but no Android Auto .
Is this true, that the new 2017 models have the Android Auto installed? We should see which SMEG unit and version 2017 models have installed... the 2016 model has a SMEG IV2 unit and software versions starting with 6.x.x.x (my current installed version is 6.1.D.R8).
I found a 6.3.C.R11 update on the internet, but i'm not sure if it includes the Android Auto.
I have a 2017 model and a htc one m8s. The idea behind android auto is fantastic - unfortunately, my phone keeps disconnecting and rendering the google maps redundant after 4 mins driving! I think this is probably my phone's fault, but I am interested to see that others are having trouble....
I have a 2017 rental 208, but it doesn't even launch android auto. It completely fails to detect IT. Using a Nexus 6P

Could you let us know what SMEG version you are running? Then we can try to update our older 208s to it
Works for me. With the right cable.
My reply comes a little late, but might help others coming here with the same problem...
I got my 2017 Peugot 208 yesterday and one of the first things, I tried, was connecting it to my phone(s). Although the manual only says, it supported Apple Carplay and Android Mirrorlink, I can confirm, that it also supports Android Auto. At first, it didn't work for me. I had to use 6 different USB cables, until I found one, it worked with.
With the first cable, it tried to connect, but before I even had a chance to press OK, the dialog disappeared. The phone showed a android auto communication error 16.
With the next four cables, nothing happend. Neither on the car display, nor on the phone. Manually opening the Android Auto app, didn't help either. It only showed it on the phone.
When I was already about to give up, I tried one last cable, that I brought to the car with me. It was a very short one (about 15 cm) from Aukey. With that cable, it worked like a charm. I could confirm the dialog on the car display and instantly saw Android Auto after that.
Later, I found this article: productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/android-auto/LV5HsOjkPyI/MlyOoBoPBAAJ. It seems to be a common problem and in that article, you can find a list of cables, that are supposed to work. One good idea seems to be to use the original usb cable, that came with your phone. I tried that today and it worked right away. It's a Samsung cable in my case (connected to a Galaxy S7 running SuperMan Mod). Here is a link to the cable together with a charger: amazon.de/Samsung-ETA-U90EWE-Ladeger%C3%A4t-Netzadapter-DatenKabel-Wei%C3%9F/dp/B01E9G4IHG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1514492334&sr=1-6&keywords=original+samsung+micro+usb+kabel&linkCode=ll1&tag=yammade-21&linkId=237d676f3199eb607c4e07f09e3fdafb" (Note: I linked to the one with the charger, because this one has good ratings. There are a lot of fake cables on amazon with poor ratings.)
I didn't have a lot of luck with cables from Aukey amazon.de/Ladekabel-Datenkabel-Samsung-Android-Smartphones-Wei%C3%9F/dp/B00TALGDMO/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1514491813&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=aukey+usb+kabel+wei%C3%9F+5+st%C3%BCck&linkCode=ll1&tag=yammade-21&linkId=9101b8f12129b7290ece34d35a4f27db". But at least one in four worked, so in case you're desperate, you might give them a try...
Btw, Apple Carplay works too. I used a third party cable and it connected instantly without any problems.
PS: I'm not allowed to post real links, because I'm new in the forums.
Hi everyone,
I'm on the same problem than you, I got a 2016 208 with SMEG+IV2 and sadly just like you, android auto is not supported.
Since i'm French I may have found more infos about why and how in French forums.
So basically since february 2017, 208, and most likely all the new Peugeot cars, have a different head unit NAC (Navigation Audio Connectée; Connected Audio Navigation). Which has a better touch screen quality, firmware, buttons and so on. There is no more useless mirrorlink but Android Auto just like Apple Car.
That was my bad when (2 months ago when I recieved my car) I found out that the car I bought was 6 months too old.
I tried to contact Peugeot's staff, they told me they had no idea about if we could replace the head unit to the newest (physically), but they will "keep an eye on the situation and come back to me" ... still no feedback, and even if it was possible, I think it would be hard to find a dealer that would know how to do it.
Anyway that's what I know. (Tried my best to explain).
Hi,
I have the same situation and my local service doesn't know it either. Does anyone have any news?
Thanks.

In Brazil only Peugeot cars from 2017/2018 have this new Head Unit. I have a 2017/2017 and I can only work with Mirror Link which is fine at the moment. I can work with all apps I want, the only thing is the microphone. I can't seem to make it work on specific applications suck as the search for google maps, or the microphone on the Android Auto App from the phone.
Though if I make a phone call it will work just fine. Strangely enough.

4. Mazda connect prompt a note with 6 digit pin and disappear less than 0.5 sec so that I cannot press screen/button to confirm
5. while pixel prompt a modal of same 6 digit pin, after tapping pair. This modal quit and prompt out 'cannot pair' info. After this note disappear, the last modal (seems like it comes first and hide in background) shows 'cannot pair due to wrong pin'
6. After double checking car manual, this device is an old ver bluetooth and its default pin have a limit of 4 digit.
So I cannot go out this bad loop after several trials.
Other phones works well like iphone 6s, huawei etc.
It's so embarrassed to use it in car. Now I use pixel to share wifi to my old ios connecting by carplay, but I still want to make the bluetooth function well and get rid of ios.
I have send feedback to Google but still no response. Is there anyway to fix it?

Hey there, I have trouble to pair Bluetooth of pixel 3 XL to my car.
Device info:
64GB pixel 3 XL black, unlock version, no root
Mazda CX-4 ver 2018, original Mazda Connect system, system ver. GW3M-41-018.1-M (this car is only available in China and no oversea edition, so I think this system is also customized.). Support Carplay but not Android auto.
Trouble description:
1. open pixel bluetooth to hold on
2. open Mazda connect bluetooth setting, ready to pair
3. pixel to choose new device, tap 'MAZDA' on screen
4. Mazda connect prompt a note with 6 digit pin and disappear less than 0.5 sec so that I cannot press screen/button to confirm

Thanks for your reply. I have tried to install android auto following this video (youtube tag:
ocOvY6Q7NNo, cannot post url) with MZD-AIO-TI_Setup_2.8.1, but failed... The head unit could read usd, but not auto run the script inside.
Have tried to connect when NFC off, still not work and I will inquiry car supplier later. Also heard someone in buyer group saying he cannot pair it to his BMW too.
It is really tricky and I will keep update this issue.

So sorry you are having issues. I have a Relatively new Kenwood Unit - I forget the model) when I first got the pixel Xl 3, initially I had problems getting it to be recognized - but once I figured out where the setitngs were for setting things up - it connected fine and now I don't have any issues - I can connect both wirelessly and via usb - wireless takes a bit longer - USB happens right away - I hope you can get things working for you....
