Please Help: How to make GPS-Monitorring permanently on - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

Hello,
i have my RK3066 working for 2 yrs. After reinstalling i have following issue with this naviceiver:
Everytime i turn ignition off(and with ignition off the naviceiver shuts down) the setting for GPS monitoring (which is watching GPS and have music played simultaniously) and the coresponding adjustment for the music/gps sound mixing is gone.
So i have to enable this settings everytime i leave the car for a moment - which sucks badly.
How can i make this 2 settings make permanet, that they dont get lost when the naviceiver is shut down?
Please help me before i go nuts over this issue

Looks like there is no Help on this forum - not the first time i have to face this.

I don't know which unit you have, which ROM etc. but for me that is "permanent". It sticks to whatever I select in settings... Maybe you should try refalshing ROM.

Is there a way to start a app after unit wakes up from sleep mode with tasker?

Hi people, I am using a speedcam app which loads at start with Autorun Autostart and goes back to homescreen.
Now when the HU goes in sleep mode the speedcam app gets closed and wont load on wake up. Is there a way to make it happen with tasker?
I am on latest Malaysk rom at a RK3066 800x480, got paid version of tasker.
Use Xposed-MTC-Managers whitelist to keep the app from going to sleep

Thanks for putting me to right direction, greatly appreciated, it is done and tested, working like charm. :good:
Now I need some more reading I guess, after two years not reading here about this unit I have to gather more information. Everything is like I wanted, just need to figure out how to start playing music with poweramp after wake up.

There is a Tasker profile for Monitor Start, but you can't add Tasker to the no sleep whitelist. It used to work great for me but broke it the other day, while changing a bunch up.
This post talks about pausing media when the unit goes into sleep

I'm bad at documentation, should be clear if your used to Tasker. Let me know if you need further details.

I am familiar with tasker, using at 4 devices at home for home automation and some other stuff. I don't have it on the HU to be honest, but use it on my phone to activate Hotspot on my phone when my phone connects to HU.
If we can capture an event it should be pretty easy to setup, I need to observe what the HU does when it wakes up to see if I can see something useful. Unfortunately I had a surgery last week and I am not allowed to sit longer than 10 minutes so have to wait couple weeks.

Found a way to start playing music with tasker at Poweramp when the head unit wakes up, it is not the cleanest or best way I guess but it does the job.
Like I said before, I have tasker on my phone and that makes possible to turn on mobile hotspot when my phone connects to my head unit. I am telling this because I am using this WIFI connection on my head units tasker to activate Poweramp music play.
On the head unit I have installed the tasker and put it in the whitelist of MTC Manager.
First I tried to make profile: [State ]> [Net]>[BT Connected] but this did not work because tasker could not get to BT devices list, and leaving empty should work but that did not work either .
So I made another profile: [State ]> [Net]>[WIFI Connected]---- [SSID: Chose your mobile hotspot] (you can leave the other options empty)
Then I made task: [Media]>[Media Control]----[Cmd: Play [Simulated Only]] [App: Choose Power Amp] (leave the other options empty)
This works good but you have to turn off option “Play music on device boot” in Head Unit app, this is needed because tasker simulates the play button of Poweramp and that makes the music paused after first boot, Head Unit app starts the music and couple seconds later if the WIFI connection established tasker will pause the music.
The downside of this workaround is when you first boot the device it takes a while before music starts playing since tasker starts pretty later than most other apps in the head unit.
The best way to get this work is finding an event or state or even action from head unit which only occurs when the head unit wakes up.

Thanks for headsup
Today I was trying the original MTCmusic app since there was a lot improvements done, I like it so far it integrates a lot better with screen saver and other stuff so I will give it a go for couple days, if i don’t like it I will go back to poweramp.
But I am glad that you found out what’s getting broadcast when the radio wakes up because I (or other forum users) can use it on other stuff too.

Bluetooth "Phone Audio" turns off and cannot turn back on

I believe I have narrowed it down to the phone as the feature works after I reboot the phone. I noticed this when I got in the car and only the Media Audio led was lit on the receiver. When I go to the bluetooth menu on the phone and select the paired device (car receiver), Phone Audio is unchecked and I cannot re-check it. I have tried deleting the phone from teh car receiver and also the device from the phone and repairing and setting it up. It will connect and cannot select 'Phone Audio'. I also noted that after a reboot, bluetooth feature is turned off and needs to be turned back on. Once I turn it back on and click the gear on the BT device, I can turn on and off the Phone Audio and it will work for a while.
This is an 'all of a sudden' development as I have been running the same firmware and ROM for 9+ months. I am S-off and am running firmware 3.35.401.12 with the ViperOne 4.3 ROM. I have upgraded programs from the play store, but cannot figure out what might be causing this. Can anyone here help me fond a solution?
Thanks!
Keith
So just to clarify, you're using BOTH phone and media Bluetooth connections to the one single bluetooth media AND voice enabled head unit in the car?. One receiver?.
Do you have any apps running that will disable things when battery power gets low, like snapdragon battery guru?. Does your rom have any such features built in?.
Make sure both devices bluetooth lists are clear of old devices that no longer have access on resonable terms. Just to make sure its not scanning for another device as a primary.
Make sure you car audio system is running the latest firmware. It can usually be updated via cd/dvd/sdcard.
As mad as it seems, make sure the time is correctly set on both devices.
Beamed in by telepathy.
Yep, yep and yep.
Battery is full , I do not have battery guru installed. I did not change anything. It just now needs to be rebooted before it will connect to BT Phone Audio. Medial Audio connects and works properly, just as it always has.
I have a single Pioneer Premier head unit that I have used for years with multiple phones. If I reboot the phone before it tries to connect, it will connect and Phone Audio works. When it is 'locked out' (my term), I cannot select the block on the that is labeled 'Phone Audio' to check it. As the screenshot shows, it is 'unchecked' and no amount of touching it will check it. The only way to 'check' it is to reboot the phone. Oddly, it reboots with bluetooth turned off and when I turn it on, usually, it is already enabled (Phone Audio).
Thanks for the help,
Keith
After a little research it would appear that, apart from being right about the max enroled devices allowed is 3, "discoverable mode" is required.
Did you connect the phone to the radio or the radio to the phone?. Which discovered which for pairing?. Try pairing the other way from the way you did.
Can you access any options by holding or tapping on any of the fields in the picture above. Something to do with pbap if you can find it and turn it off, most likely under contact sharing. If not, dont worry.
Try turning contact sharing off or see if the stereo will copy them and store them so you can turn that feature off.
Other than that it could just be an incompatibility between the devices. It is not unknown for car audios to be crap hardware.

I recently resetted my HTC M9 and as coinsequence I have been obligated to reinstall all BT devices (car, 2 headest, laptop)
It worked well (as in the past) for few days but now I have the same issue : I cannot switch on the audio phone !!!
Below the picture:
I could not find any other solution than to wipe the ROM and reinstall. I am now running viper 6.0. no problems. If you are not soff, you may want to ruu it. If you are soff you may want to wipe and install again whichever ROM you are running.

I am also having the exact same issue. I still have not been able to track down which app is the one causing this conflict. I have also done a factory restore and that seems to have worked for a time but the issue started again. It may be unrelated but... Have you changed the themes? I think that's one of the last things I did before it stopped working. Also restarting the phone "fixes" the issue for one connect/disconnect, but after the bluetooth is disconnected it will no longer allow to use phone audio. I have gone into the settings for the "Paired Bluetoth devices" and I am unable to check "Phone audio". It is not grayed out but it doesn't work either. This issue is driving me crazy, I hate to have to restart the phone every time I get in and out of the car just because the bluetooth wont sync. That being said, I have another clue into the issue. Today I was using the bluetooth in the car while on a phone call and transitioned to my Jawbone Icon when I exited the car flawlessly. I turned off the car, turned on Jawbone (so there wouldn't be a conflict of the Jawbone trying to connect to the phone while it was still connected to the car) Immediately the Jawbone connected and I was able to carry on with the conversation. I was really happy about this. However, when I was done with my phone call I turned off the Bluetooth and turned off the Jawbone. About an hour later I received a video through Whatsapp and when I played it there was no volume. When I pressed the volume button on the phone the volume bar had the Bluetooth symbol!!! The Bluetooth had been off for quite a while now and there where no Bluetoth devices present.
Hopefully this gives some insight into this issue that will help resolve it. Thank you very much!
I have also tried the soft reset and the issue persists.

I have recently had this problem on my stock ROM HTC 10. The HTC Australia website online chat actually gave me a solution which worked (!)
Settings > Apps > ... (menu) > Show system > Bluetooth Share > Storage > Clear Data
New findings on my phone.
I have an M9, rooted, unlocked and s-off. It has a stock ROM. I have had this issue for a while now. I don't know when or how it started. Everything used to apparently work fine. Could have been some update or an app I added at some point in time that possibly we all share. I had been restarting the phone as well to get the "phone audio" to work. That became excruciatingly tedious. I did find that, on my phone at least, placing the phone in airplane mode, waiting a moment for that to kick in, then starting up the Bluetooth, brought it up with "phone audio" checked. Then I would just turn airplane mode off.
Still a ridiculous way of getting it to work correctly. However, if this technique works for others as well, then I am thinking that airplane mode is disabling a service or something that is keeping it from connecting correctly. I will be looking into this as I hope some more savvy folks will be as well. If someone does figure it out, please share.

I found another thing that might be causing the issue by reading other forums. I made the adjustment on my phone this morning and I believe it to be working at this time. (For now anyway). I think it might be related to location services accuracy settings. There are a couple of ways to get there. In Bluetooth settings when the Bluetooth is off, you might see a link to it on the initial Bluetooth page. Otherwise, I found them under, Settings/Location. I have my mode set to "Battery Saving". But under the triple dot should be Scanning. Here I turned off Bluetooth scanning and things seem to be doing okay thus far. Just seems like it takes a few seconds longer to connect to my devices. However, so far, no issues. I may be speaking too soon. If I find it didn't work, I will correct myself in another post.

Same problem. Either after using my Fiat Car bluetooth system, or after my BLT bluetooth headset, my Phone audio stops and I have to restart my phone.
On my bluteooth headset I only use the "media" audio.
I am using a Samung galaxy 3 watch also.

Late post, but just ran into the same problem with my One M8 with final Viper ROM and my newly installed Pioneer BT head unit. Turning off BT scanning on the M8 worked for me as well.
Bluetooth audio and or media check boxes can't be checked
I was able to resolve the issue on my HTC One M9 by turning WiFi scanning and Bluetooth scanning off, updating the Bluetooth checkboxes for audio and media (both of which were unchecked and wouldn't allow me to check them), and turning the scanning back on.

PX5 no sound after wakeup

Hi guys,
I bought andoid car system Wondefoo with PX5 (octacore) + 4GB/32GB with DSP chip for Ford.
I have serious trouble with this car system - after switch-off car radio went sleep, but sometime when I switch-on car and radio wake-up, system beeps are working, but player, or FM radio cannot work - I have to push reset button and after reset it works until radio going to sleep and wake-up.
Did anyone simillar problem with PX5 radio??
Hi, I have similar no sound problem with Wondefoo PX5 4GB/32GB DSP unit (for VAG). This problem happens only when system wakes up from sleep, never after a cold boot. In my case, system beeps are working but otherwise there is only increased amount of white noise from the speakers. I haven't found a solution, except for disabling sleep to force a cold boot every time.
Another annoying problem with my unit is that Wifi and Bluetooth are often unavailable after a cold boot. Wifi adapter MAC address is set to value 02:00:00:00:00:00 when this problem happens. Rebooting fixes also this problem, and after a successful boot Wifi and Bluetooth work fine unit next shutdown. So , I think it could be a software bug in initializing the radio chip. Have you seen this issue with your unit?
What is the software version on your unit? My radio has MTCE_XRC_V2.89_2 and px5-userdebug 8.0.0 OPR5.170623.007 eng.hct.20180706.161540 test-keys.
have either of you guys found resolution to this problem? I don't have an issue with the audio, but after waking up from sleep my Wi-Fi and Bluetooth no longer are available. My unit is a seicane model, but it has exactly the same build number and MCU version. Their support or telling me that I should replace my Wi-Fi module, but seeing as others are having the same issue I would think this is a software problem. I have about 10 days remaining on my ability to return it to Amazon. And I'm leaning heavily towards doing that. Unfortunately I really like their custom faceplate match to my vehicle.

I haven't found a solution to the Wifi+BT problem. I tried upgrading system software to the newer version that is made available in this post but it did not fix it.
I have started thinking that perhaps the Wifi+BT issue could be related to bad electrical connection between the motherboard and the radio chip. Now that the weather is colder, Wifi and BT never work when starting the car in the morning. Anyways, this is pure speculation. If I have time, I will open the radio and have a look.
That's a very interesting observation. I live in Middle Tennessee and it's recently started getting colder, and I've noticed that I have to do a restart twice sometimes. there have been enough random post about Wi-Fi and Bluetooth not working after waking up on various threads at different forms that I thought for sure this was a software issue. The manufacturer has offered to send me a new Wi-Fi module, and I declined mainly because it wouldn't arrive before my return window closes
Did you have any issues with being able to sideload apks? I can't do that. No errors it just blinks and goes back to the directory screen. I also don't have contacts or calendars listed as sinkable items in my account sync settings. Each of these individual issues aren't enough for me to return the device, but when taken as a whole it's a bit too frustrating.

I can't speak for the original two posters, but that doesn't address the problem after sleep. The max time is 1 hour, but obviously by morning, it's been longer than that, and the problem arises again.
FWIW, I just initiated a return of my Siecane unit (thanks Amazon) and have ordered a replacement. If it's a hardware issue, this should put it to bed. If the problems remain, it's going back and I'm trying Joying or Pumpkin (or anything other than Siecane). Thank God I bought this on Amazon and not through AliExpress. Certainly worth the higher retail price to have that protection.
Have the exact same issue with my BT an WLAN and also the no sound Problem. Annoying. First few months the unit works great without the problem with WiFi and BT. Now the whole radio sucks like hell without any Connection. I will try order a new BT WiFi Module for a few bucks from AliExpress. Search WLAN px5 there.
I have the issue with white noise after wake-up from sleep mode on my Eonon unit PX5, Android 8. No sounds, just white noise and beeps when I touch the screen.
I installed Malaysk ROM but the problem persists. On cold starts, the sound is normal.
I'm having the exact same issues as described by you guys. PX5. Android 8. Hal9k Mod v3.1. Newest MCU flashed.
No sound after fast boot no matter what. Sound works perfectly after a cold boot. I will donate $10 to the whoever can fix this issue or find a good workaround via paypal.

Hello All
Here is the solution
I had the same problem since the beggining. The only solution was that i put the settings at SETTINGS > CAR > EXTRA SETTINGS > 30 sec
It did do the job but as you guys mentionned the radio was always starting after deep cold instead of sleep. It was still pretty fast but hey who doesn't want the screen to appear right away.
Like the last post, I did update to Hal9k Mod 3.0 . I did try again, same issue.
I was told to update the mcu. So I did to the mtce_gs_v1.94
And here is when everything was possible .
I know that the issue we have is because of the Amp of the bose system that for some reason is not starting after or something like that (don't remember exactly since i read that months ago)
So by updating the MCU, after restarting I had no sound but white noise (like when you listen to radio but there is no channel)
This is when you have to go to Hal9k mod settings.
then in manage applications. then you gotp applications that do not close when sleep and you choose ''amplifier''
and voila
hope it helps. I did try 6-7 times now and no problems anymore.
So have fun and thank you for the donations
Let me know if need some pictures
What you're saying makes sense to me but I don't have an "Amplifier" app to chose. I've even selected every possible app from the dropdown list and still nothing.
It might be because I have the MTCE patch form here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/mtcd-software-development/mod-cs-x-mod-mtcd-e-mcu-firmware-t3816042
I'll try with another firmware to see if it works. I have the XRC system btw.
Just in case those of you that are on this thread haven't found the solution to the wifi/bt when cold, look here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...o-wifi-bluetooth-waking-t3852206/post78313081
It's a long thread, and the solution appears around page 7-10. It is a hardware issue - an incompatible IC that needs to be replaced (or main board needs to be swapped). Resellers have fixed this for some that are still under their year warranty.

Hi, try putting the ACC shutdown timer on 30 minutes. see if it helps.
the setting is located in Settings > car > extra settings>

Several sound issues, I believe they are related. Welp!

Some info: Pixel XL, one-year-old, rooted with Magisk, android up-to-date version 9, Build number PPR2.181005.003
Some weeks ago I started to see some weird behaviour related to sound. First, while listening to Spotify and Google Podcasts (from now on called "The Apps"), the phone would simply stop producing any sound through the headphone (or speakers when the headphones are then unplugged). A restart would fix it until the next random time it would happen again.
After a while, I've decided to factory reset the phone and reinstall the Android system from scratch and root it again (I've been doing this kind of stuff for years now, so I'm pretty knowledgeable about these procedures), to no avail. The problem was still there.
I've started to try to pinpoint what the main problem would be, and then I've started debugging other stuff. What I've found is:
- If I restart the phone and immediately try to play Spotify or Google Podcasts, it will not work and only a restart will fix it.
- If I restart the phone and wait a few minutes (around 5 minutes) everything works, until the next random failure.
- After a restart, my widgets on the home screen will take a few minutes to load (Google Calendar and The Weather Network)-- if I try The Apps before that, no sound will come out through the headphones (or speakers if I disconnect the headphones)
- Sometimes the sound will come out through the phone's speakers, even if the headphones are connected. Only a restart will fix this.
- Sometimes a loud cracking sound will come through the headphones and after that, no sound is played whatsoever by the phone -- a restart fixes this.
- Both The Apps would randomly stop playing (as if the pause button is pressed). Pressing the Play button again restores the sound, but with different volume level. If it was lower, it will become louder, and vice versa. I didn't test this without the headphones as I would need to isolate myself from the world LOL.
- No sound is produced during phone calls either. A restart fixes this until the next random failure.
- The volume indicator will randomly lag to display after pressing the volume buttons.
- The volume indicator will appear randomly and change small amounts (up or down) while I'm using the phone.
I am slowly removing less-used apps to try to pinpoint which one could be the offending factor, with no luck so far.
I've unrooted my phone today to try and see if this has any effect on those problems (no effect).
Any ideas what I can try next? Any idea what can cause these problems?

I'm sure you have already looked into this - but just in case....make sure that the "Apps" are NOT set to Optimize Battery nor to Restrict Background Usage. There was another thread recently about a user having Spotify stop playing randomly for them and the issue was the app was set to Restrict Background Activity. Good luck!

Thanks for the confidence you projected on me LOL, I had NOT looked at it! Indeed, both apps are set to "optimize battery". I'll change this setting and give it a go.
Thanks!

I must say a LOT of the related problems are, if not completely, at least partially solved. I've seen way less problems since I disabled the battery optimization for Spotify and Google Podcasts.
Thank you so much!
I'll keep tracking them and running some more tests just to be sure, but it seems this was the main issue here.
Amazing how one single app and setting can bring a phone to an almost useless state!

3.5mm Audio Issue Since Pie Update (Audio Stutter)

Hey all,
I have an annoying issue since the Pie update and wondering if anyone else has the same problem and knows a fix. So, since the Pie update I have noticed that whenever listening to audio (doesn't matter what app) using a 3.5mm set of headphones or AUX in my car that when I do any task on the phone such as unlock the screen, lock the screen, press the home button, open the app drawer, close the app drawer, slide the notifications pane down, basically anything I get a very quick stutter in the audio. It is very annoying and I cannot figure out why it's doing it. Is anyone else experiencing this since the Pie update? It never did it prior to Pie. Thanks guys.

I noticed that but it was caused by my bluetooth trying to connect to the radio.. In my AMG GT R I keep getting the stuttering too but it seems to stop when I turn the bluetooth off. The radio actually wasn't even connected to the bluetooth at the moment which I thought was weird and kind of confused me but then I realized that I had my obd scanner plugged in because I was doing some pulls and checking out some of the sensors, fuel trims and the boost so I don't know if it was from that being connected or what but it still caused the music to stutter. I'm planning on going back to Oreo anyway all this sh!t isn't worth this trouble just for Pie..

That's weird then.. I can't stand pie.
No issues with using the audio jack on my phone. Though I did do a factory reset after I got pie, that helped a lot of minor issues.

What else don't you like about it? The only thing for me is that I have to manually set my Notifications to My Phone instead of my bluetooth every time I connect it. That one is just stupid. Most people don't go through the day with their BT Ear Buds stuck in their ears all the time

Well the one thing I used my phone for the most was music during workouts and jogs and I used to only have to turn the music only half way up but it's like a whisper at half way up now and the further I turn it up the worse the sound gets and then like one or 2 steps before maximum volume it just cuts out completely no sound and the bluetooth sounds like crap in the car now it's actually better if I just put the music in the cars radio storage instead. The phones battery also doesn't seem to make it the entire day anymore and it did before the update. I also have to keep going into settings and changing the default USB connection setting otherwise it doesn't like connecting to the computer anymore unless I switch it from MTP to charging and back again. I suppose a factory reset would fix most of the issues maybe but I have no interest in doing that and having to re-set everything back up. Oh and the notification problem you have I have also and yeah that one's unbelievably stupid!!

You might want to try that Reset, because my volume is really good and even going past the volume warning, it stays clear. I don't have bluetooth in my Truck so I Can't test that one, but I will agree battery is worse. I whole day without charging at work - I use my phone for work, btw, and I'm down to about 35%. On Oreo I'd be closer to 50%. And the computer connect, I don't have to change MTP, but I DO have to toggle Debugging on and off most times

You know what else I noticed since you said something about the volume warning? I don't get that warning anymore either. Not even after a reboot because I have the phone set up to reboot itself 4 times a week at 4am in the morning. Is that volume warning still even on the phones anymore?
I still get the volume warning on Bluetooth at least.

I still get it after a reboot or connecting to a different device, like from my BT to my surround system.
Maybe you should try to flash it again?? Clear and backup everything, do a factory reeset, then flash it
