Bootloader unlocking? No, some variants like the Verizon variant in the US are not unlockable out of the box.

But any other info about this variant? Like, what I should look when trying to root or flash something...
This model has some particularity over the H815? Or is equal to another variant?

only H815 has variants that can be bootloader unlocked (Euro countries) so no flashing on others

I rooted mine with the pre-rooted system image method. I used the system image of an H815. And it worked. You can flash the stock H815 kdz's as from what I've seen partition size is the same. I flashed the H815 V20B on my H815P, from South Africa, and it worked.
Wait... What? You have MM on an H815P? I'm also in SA with an 815P and have been playing with the idea of doing what you have now done. I'm currently running rooted v10g and getting bored with the lack of hacking I could do.

Yip, I used lgup to flash it, I can't remember if I went straight from lollipop to v20b using the kdz or I went from lollipop to v20a using the flash - with flashfire and then flashed the v20b kdz. Not sure if it will make any difference, but make sure you have a v10 kdz just in case something goes wrong.
Thanks. Will give it a bash in the morning when I get to work.
Is it possible to unlock the bootloader for a Motorola Z2 Play (Verizon Variant) and flash TWRP recovery and possibly root the device?

No. You should have purchased the unlocked version from Motorola if you wanted to do that.

Could one purchase the unlocked version (xt1710-01) and put the verizon (xt1710-02) software on it once unlocked?
Also, if you enable developer options on the Verizon variant, there is a toggle labeled "allow bootloader to be unlocked". It isn't clear whether or not turning this on actually unlocks the bootloader.

Is this true. If you buy the z2 play the unlocked version. Can you still use Verizon sim?

I am thinking to buy a 960U At&t and then flash 960U1. Is that still an option or the bootloaders versions might be different? I read that 960U At&t is on v2 and the unlocked U1 on v1 . Can someone update me on the current situation? I searched but I hard to know for sure what the last updates are. Thanks!

I looked into this and found that the Unlocked S9 is on G960U1OYM3ARI1 and the AT&T S9 is on G960USQS3ARI6, so with that we can see that both are on bootloader version 3 at the moment.

Awesome thanks!
Can you confirm that flashing U1 will activate all LTE bands of U1 included band 71
for example?

Hi, is there a way to root the G7+, the international European variant? I see threads for the EM variant, but not for the EAW variant.

Actually, there is a method to root most G7 models, except the T-Mobile one at the moment (G710TM/G710TMP/G710TMO/G710TMP).

Thanks for your reply. So, it means xt1677 is safe to buy as xt1677 is global dual sim model.
