If there is a thread already created about this then i appologise. Is anyone else having charging issues? I have noticed it takes a super long time to charge my device. I'm at 83% and with fast charging on it's saying that it's gonna take 30min to fully charge. I am using the standard usb and brick that came with my s8+. I have ampre installed also and it shows max 1010mA, voltage shows 4.2v. Heck my nexus 6 charges 12 to 1300 Ma and the voltage is around 4, and it's only 2.0. Why does the S8 + charge so slow? The S8 should easily charge at around 5 volts or more. I don't understand why it takes so long to charge, is there anything I can do to speed this up? I thought about buying a 25w brick but I'm not sure if that would speed things up or not..Im charging at around 1% every 3mins. NOT GOOD!
I wish my S8+ was rooted?
I'm also getting rather slow charging, both wired and wireless with the official wireless charger. I read on the standard s8+ page for other users on Exynos who also got slow charging after June update. My device is a Verizon model on unlocked firmware.
I haven't had any issues with charging what so ever. I use both the Samsung provided fast charger and a Motorola fast charger that came with my Moto X a while back at work. Both charge fast using a 10ft Anker charger cable on both chargers.
I have the USA carrier unlocked varriant. I bought this before I even thought about getting my s8+. I don't understand why my s8+ charges so slow. My nexus 6 takes like 30mins to charge from 0-100% my s8+ takes almost 2hrs!

I purchased for my nexus 6, thinking I could charge faster lol. My s8+ charges at 4.2v will not go any higher! My nexus 6 charges at around the same voltage.

How many minutes does it take you're s8+ to charge 1%

I have been charging for a few minutes and here is my voltage and it's bull sh*!.
What if I bought a 25w charger? Would I be able to gain more than 4.5v?

I wonder if the samsung can roll out a fix to make our devices charge faster? Maybe a small update...ita time to spread the word and tell everyone that owns a galaxy s8 and galaxy s8+ to call samsung and complain about slow charging. It might be a waste of time but it wouldn't hurt to try!

I measured charging on my S8+ using a CHOETECH USB cable with a built in meter and I noticed that while screen is on, the phone drops back to standard charging (5V 1A). When I turn off the screen, it immediately jumps back to 9V and stabilizes at around 1.4A. I'm not sure if this is the intended nature of Samsung's Adaptive Charging, but if you want juice quickly, you definitely can't be using the device at the same time. Anyone else who has a USB power meter who feels like their device charges fast, please post your findings from your device. I kinda get it, on why they might be doing it, to prevent overheating of the battery.

Makes sense. But I can not reach what you indicated, with or without screen on. How long does it take to drop as soon as you turn on the screen? By the way I'm using Ampre.
I wish my S8 plus was rooted?
The drop in voltage is instant when you turn the screen on. I'll take some pictures.
Take a pic of you're charger too I may have to buy a new and improved one.

Here's the readouts with the screen off
And this is the readout with screen on
I have noticed something. I have my brightness at 100% and have been charging for around 20 mins and my s8+ isn't even a little warm. The screen isn't even warm and I have been playing games and shopping on eBay and amazon the whole entire time. When I charge my nexus 6 the phone gets super hot! Almost hot enough to make you wanna move it. I laid it on my chest and it made my skin red, screen facing down.

That's precisely what I'm thinking. Samsung probably is intentionally manipulating the charging voltage and current to prevent overheating. My HTC 10 would get hot as hell while it's charging, but this phone is cool to the touch. Samsung probably wants to avoid the events of the Galaxy Note 7 again. I'm using the charger that came with my HTC 10 btw.
Yup, samsungs a little paranoid lol. The charging cable and the anker wall charger seems to be doing its job then. I just cant see the numbers. What about using a 25w charger would we be able to get faster charging time?
I wish my S8 plus was rooted?
I gotta go, please keep me informed if you find out anything to help us gain faster charging times. Maybe if some one can bootloader unlock this damn thing, we can overclock and undervolt maybe that would help get max current overload ?

Get the charger at the link below
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Vehi...Q9CA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334801727&sr=8-1
I got this to replace a cheapo one i had when i had my Droid X. With the old charger, I couldnt keep the screen on and use GPS and listen to music at the same time without the battery losing power. Basically the old charger acted like a battery extender lol.
This new charger charged my phone at least 3-4x faster...even while doing all the things listed above...WELL worth it

I have that exact same car charger. Just make sure that you get it from a reputable dealer... I got mine from one of the parties for a few bucks cheaper and they sent me counterfeits. I had to contact Amazon where Amazon gave me my money back and also sent out two OEM from an Amazon warehouse with free expedited shipping!

Quite a few of the cheaper car chargers simply do not have a point soldered on their boards, causing the phone to think it's charging from a 500mA USB port (like you'd find on a computer) and not go above that even if the charger does 1A/port.
I know even the belkin one has a forum topic somewhere regarding modifying it so that it'll always get detected as an AC power. I believe custom ROM's and kernels has a Fast Charge feature that can fix this too (ie force the device to detect the power as AC), I think.
I use the Motorola charger as well, and it works just fine... I had two lying around, one came with my Milestone and the other came with my Milestone Car Dock that I've bought separately...

Interesting, this is the model I had and I ALWAYS felt like my battery was draining while using the GPS+Music combo. Not a lot, a few percent over a couple hours, but it's not charging it or atleast keeping its current charge. I want the official Sammy card dock. SOMEONE JUST TAKE MY MONEY.

I believe you will be disappointed...
First, this Motorola charger is good up to 2A, while the original Galaxy Nexus Wall Charger is good up to 1A, and Galaxy Nexus recognizes it as AC Charging, meaning that phone is draining as much current to charge as it can...
Second, I do not believe that those pogo pins are good to move 1A, and I could bet the farm (if I had one ) that it won't go over 1A for sure, so, I do not believe that the official car dock will allow more current than what this Motorola charger is already providing...
But, anyway, I doubt that charger is the one to blame, and I will tell you why... Battery is rated 6.8W/h and it usually allows up to 4 hours of screen on time... So, quick math, phone in use, screen on, is draining 1,7W/h and USB charging (500mA x 5V) gives you 2,5W/h, AC charging gives you 5W/h....
Lets say that you get up to 3 hours screen time with GPS on... It still is 2,27W/h... Below 2,5W/h USB charging limit...
So what is going on? Probably battery is too hot charging and being discharged at the same time (and probably the phone is not able to use the battery like a no-break and get its power from USB, so, phone is getting juice from battery and battery from charger) and phone will stop charging to avoid battery damage/explosion due to high temperatures, and also, battery efficiency is lower when battery is hot (it will drain faster)...
My guess is that if phone is still draining with a charger, in this case, check if it is too hot, and if it is, try to move it so it is cooled by car A/C / vent... At least, with milestone, it helps a lot, since I still own my Milestone and its gps is leaps and bounds better than Galaxy Nexus GPS, I've never really used Galaxy Nexus to navigate (yes, my Milestone turned into a dedicated Google Maps GPS )
its very easy to mod any usb charger to turn it into a AC charger. what you need to do is connect the two data pins.

just connect pins 2 and 3 by solder, i've done this on a few car chargers and it works great always shows AC. i didnt modify the usb wire itself but opened up the charger and connect the solder points connected to the data lines, not sure if you can just mod the usb wire. i have 600mah car charger that i did this to, before it wasnt enough to charge the phone with google maps running now it can charge it very slowly.
Just a update,
i purchased the motorola charger and been working great for nearly a month till this couples of days.
the only way that charge is by holding and pushing up the micro port wile inserted in the phone.
i noticed that the charger micro plug does have clips on only one side ,the other side is flat.
does that mean is not a original charger???
thanx

generally can be had for about 3 bucks shipped. works fantastic - the phone reports as being plugged in and charges accordingly.
To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Samsung Galaxy S7 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

I am saying that battery life is incredible ... but I noticed when I charge the phone using fast charging from like 10% to 100% then it is loosing capacity much faster ... that is it ... I am still satisfied
Interesting, thanks.
I disabled fast charging since on my S6 Active it used to make the phone insanely hot and actually started burning the cable at the point where it connected to the phone.
That being said, I'm actually really impressed how fast this phone charges with just a usb cable from a computer or car usb port. Very fast charging without 'fast charging' enabled.
Charging speed.
There is only a 10 minutes difference between fats charging on and off on my s7. Is that normal?
It charge 0-60% quick but after that it charge normal speed.
I've also noticed that.. I thought was something with me, or it was just a feeling from myself!
But now I've seen more people dealing with same "problem" (if we can put it that way)!
When I charge with Fast Charging ENABLE, the S7 seems to drain battery faster then when I charge with Fast Charging DISABLE!

Totally agree! I had SOT time till yesterday about 2-3h...and yesterday i had to charge my phone with regular 2A 5V charger at work...takes 30 minutes more time but SOT was allmost 7 hours
I'm not comfortable with how hot my phone gets while fast charging. Reading this, I'll try turning it off. I'm also uncomfortable with how hot wireless charging makes my phone. I doubt I'll use it much unless the micro USB port goes.
How much time do you keep your phone in charging?
Mine is charging in 1 hour and 45 minutes, but i keep it 2 hours. ( I disabled Fast Charging )
maybe to reduce heat, don't wait until phone is <66% battery level to charge it up ?
About 1h wifi charging
Using QC2.0 charger is really quick.
Charges pretty fast, I turned off quick charging because my phone gets very warm.
10% in about 10-20 minutes?
I use volt meter with fast charge on get arount 1.7a and with fast charge off around 1.3a. It's pretty fast even fast charge is off
What wireless charger are you guys using?! Specifically you guys with hot phones. The reason I ask is because my s6 use to get hot using the standard samsung fast wireless charging pad. Now with the newer Samsung fast wireless charging stand it is cooler to touch. I also noticed there is a fan runing being the pad.
Perhaps the fan is helping keeping the phone cooler then other pads?!

But, with fast charge it uses about 9 volts wich means a max of about 15 watt.
without fast charge it uses about 5 volts which means a max of about 6,5 watt
So less then half max power without fast charge..
I haven´t seen the phone getting more then 1,4 amps on 5 volt even with stock charger..
Just nowI tried and get this. No idea @@

Guys, just quick question. Today morning I plug my phone to the original charger (phone was totally discharged (switched off)) and after boot it said me "Quick Charging, fully charged after 3 hours". Bloody hell, is it any type of joke? I thought that quick charging feature is about quick charging, isn't it? Next problem which I have last time (the day before yesterday probably) was that phone told me "fully charged after 1 hour and 20 minutes" but it took almost 2 hours. I use original nexus charger.
Has anyone the some experience with this type of "fast" charging?
Thanks in advance.
My phone charges slowly only when i use it plugged in to the wall...Make sure the slow charge is a software issue and not a hardware, try to calibrate the battery and if it doesn't work try to flash the stock google images (do a backup before flashing),finally, send as a screenshot of your battery stats while charging to see how bad your device charging rates are!...

If your screen is on or the battery is warm, it will charge much slower.
I suggest you leave the screen turned off and let it charge, and check back in 30minutes to see if the charge time has updated to reflect a faster charging rate.
Should charge perfectly fine if you have the screen off and don't use it. I regularly go 15% to 90% in 60 minutes.

It's cause you started at near 40%. All fast charging has basically three levels that tapers from fastest to slowest. Basically in simplest terms it's 0-40% full fast charging, 40-80% regular charging, 80-100% slowest. There's actual numbers with mAh readings for exact details but no need for that. It does this for temperature control. It's also why a lot of fast charging tech advertise 0-80% times. That last 20%, especially 90-100%, is way slower than any other part. So to get the most of fast charging it's actually best to use your phone down to a low reading like 15-20%. As you can see, you end up wasting time trying to charge like you did compared to my screenshots. Essentially you're able to use you phone longer and yet be plugged in for a short period.

Mathematically that is correct, but for longer battery life expectancy (over time), they suggest you charge 50-90% even though it is less efficient in terms of amount of time spent charging.
So I tested charging for one hour starting at 40% and it actually did a little better than what you're getting. Went 40-93% in 60 minutes.
I still suggest starting around 15-20% though because as you can see, 60 minutes of uninterrupted charging gets you to 90% whether starting at 15% or 40%.

Guys, thanks for your effort. I will be trying to find the best way of charging. Even though energy efficient could by better in Google's Nexus I think. I have problem to stay charged 24 hour in a row. Maybe the reason is that I did just maybe 10 charging cycles and the battery is still to new and is still formatting, who knows.

Yeah if you check the battery life thread you'll see people getting various hours of battery usage. Personally, I'm always topping off when I get home from work for about 30 minutes or so (I always shower when I get home) and end with plugging in while sleeping.

in my experience, everytime I had trouble with fast charging (Zenfone and Nexus 5x) was a matter of faulty cable. try to replace your old one. in most cases, processors are kinda super sensitive about the "health" of the cable and won't let the magic happen it's happening to me in these days with my QC2.0 car adapter.
Has anyone found a good, reliable wireless charger for their G7 yet? (My cheap $15 charging stand isn't cutting it and I'm about to whip it against the wall).
I've been using this one by Anker, charging it overnight. Takes about 2 hours to fully charge from about 30% to 100%

G7 will say fast charging on a 10W wireless charger but LG says the phone supports 15W for true fast charging. Belkin and a handful of others make true 15W fast wireless chargers.
Watch out for off brands as many will say 15w but are actually 10w.
Im using a mophie here and it says fast wireless charging at 10w.

Good call on this charger. I picked it up on your recommendation after seeing the price before I even owned this phone and I can confirm it works great. Anker makes solid products so the price makes it even better. Thanks!
Another vote for the Anker Charger
I've been using the Anker model A2523 wireless charger with no problems. It doesn't charge super fast, but I use it for overnight charging, so that's not a problem. While charging, the battery never goes above 30 degrees centigrade, which is 2 to 4 degrees cooler that when I was using the original LG plug in charger that came with the phone! The Anker uses a Micro USB port for power, so I also got a USB-C to Micro USB adapter, so that if I need to recharge quickly, I can just unplug the LG charging cable from the adapter which is plugged into the back of the Anker charger and plug it into the phone. I think that's the best solution until more USB-C wireless chargers are produced.

Good call on this charger. I picked it up on your recommendation after seeing the price before I even owned this phone and I can confirm it works great. Anker makes solid products so the price makes it even better. Thanks!

Does it show as fast charging with this charger?

No, it just states it's charging wirelessly. It's not too fast but perfect for overnight without roasting the phone or battery.
just got the UMIDIGI Q1 , and it says fast wireless charging.
Have some others scattered around the house that is 5w, like choetech t513
I have quite a few Anker products, so when I was looking for a bedside wireless charger, I was almost sure I would end up with them. However, after researching on Amazon for about an hour, I ended up buying the Yootech Wireless Charger (the goofy company name made me think that it might be a cheap rebrand, but it's been a rock solid device). I can say for the LG G7 that this is an amazing charger (although it supports a wide range if you or someone else might want to use it with a different device; especially an older one) that comes with an impressive AC adapter (it doesn't get warm while in use, something that sometimes happens with more compact adapters). It does use MicroUSB instead of USB-C and maxes out at 10W instead of 15W, however it tops up my phone from 20 - 30% to 100% in less than two hours so it's a keeper for me and allows me to save my included charger specifically for travel.
I got the BlitzWolf BW-FWC4 from Amazon for €15. Fast wireless charging thanks to QI-EPP compatibility. Works flawlessly through my Voia case. Charges almost as fast as wired. I'm using the original wall charger to power it.
got the nillkin 15w qi powerflash. Fast charging works and cooler than UMIDIGI Q1 thanks to buil in fan.

Hey, what are the charging speeds on the Nillkin? Does it charge as fast as the UMIDIGI ? Their description does not mention fast charging for LG so was wondering.

Hi,
i am just wondering, which Charger should i buy for the S21 Ultra, as i need more, i would buy them not from samsung. Do you have recommendations?
I have the wireless pad that was a freebie with the watch a while back - I'm hoping that will do the job in the day and I'll just use an old one for overnight charging - speed is not of the essence.
Ah cool.
Sometimes during the day i am happy to charge it quick fast, but mostly i also dont careabout the speed, especially overnight.
You can never go wrong with an anker charger but if you can buy from samsung i would recommend their 25w charger. Samsung recently reduced the price of the charger and if anything ever goes wrong with your phone samsung can no longer blame the charger.
I went with the 25W charger from Samsung. It is actually on discount.

i bought this 120w GaN Baseus and both charger and my S21 Ultra came today, i tested the charger with couple of outlets and cables but after couple second of "SUPER FAST CHARGIN" it reverts back to "Fast Charging" ,
its a shame cause i really loved the charger despite the noise it made and i wanted it for my future laptop too which supports 100w PD ,
i have to return it and get the normal one that samsung offering, samsung should've kept the chargers this year...
hope i didn't damaged my brand new phone by connecting and disconnecting it around 20 times
I have a 45W USB-C port as part of an Anker PowerPort and also the 18W charger that came with my Pixel 5. Would I notice much of an improvement in charging speed or long term longevity of the battery by purchasing Samsung's 25W charger?

You can get the maximum charging speed from the 45W Anker PowerPort. And the 18W charger would give you decent charging speed as well. When it comes to charging S21, there's no difference between the 45W Anker and Samsung's 25W charger. And I doubt there's much difference between the 18W and 25W charger.
Thank you. And it shouldn't cause any issues to the integrity/longevity of the battery?
No, it shouldn't. Reliable third-party chargers should just work fine as the original Samsung charger.

I do not know where he lives but here is a screenshot from the Canadian Samsung.ca site. I would think in the US it would have the same discount and be even cheaper.
Edit: Looking at his part number, I would guess he is in Canada too.
what about this BS Samsung Money by SoFi debit card?
"enjoy up to 30% off sitewide on .... Samsung.com"
do you really get a huge discount with this BS debit card ?
I had to buy another fast charger the other day because of a failing 25 watt brick or cable for my 10+; Fast charging is erratic.
The Samsung 25 brick/cable can be had for under $20.
It's known to work.
I nixed the 45 watt because it likely will decrease battery life and charges only marginally faster.
A working 25 watt brick charges at about 2% a minute which is fine. I go with 20-30% midrange charges so a 10-15 minute break is good.

According to the article below, only four of the chargers they tested charged the S21s at 25W. Two of the four were Samsung OEM chargers.

Fast charging gives me a headache as of late.
A fast charging mini horror tale...
My 10+ was fast charging normally until I slow charge it to 100% one night by accident.
The battery was probably around 85% of its original capacity at that time.
I've tried a new Samsung OEM 25w brick/cable, cleared system cache, toggled fast charging on/off 3X, hard reset, battery calibration, cleaned the C port throughly... everything except a factory reset.
Fast charging engages but usually only for 2-5 minutes, and sometimes the indicated current draw drops as low as 800 ma with only a 80% charge! WTF?
So... is it the battery, port* or a mobo failure?
It's battery replacement time but will that get it?
*the C port appears to connect normally; no charge or data interruption if pushed about.
Good, solid feel... grrrrrr
Just got a EP-TA800 charger and tried charging my S21 at 35% battery capacity and noticed it negotiated at 9V2A = 18W , I also checked this with wall plug meter. But on screen it shows its at super fast charging. So whats the range for 25W charging speed ?
