Download Speeds Half of Upload Speeds - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

There is a strange issue with my oneplus 3
I have a 100mbps connection
My router is dual band
I have selected 5ghz only in WiFi settings and 5ghz router settings are also correct
But the problem is when i run a speedtest my download speed does not cross 50mbps and my upload speeds are around 90mbps
So can anyone help me get full download speed?

That doesn't seem to be an issue with the OP3. I have a 150 mbps connection and I also get double the download speed as upload speed, not only in my OP3 but also on my netbook, laptop and tab.
I am on Hathway, who is your ISP?

[Q] No 5GHz WiFi support

Hi all
My N7100 doesn't want to work with 5GHz WiFi at all. There is no option like that.
Event WiFi analyzer cannot switch to 5GHz and works only with 2.4GHz.
This happens regardless of any ROM or kernel I tried. AOSP, stock, CM10, CM10.1, combined...
I thing it's a kind of limitation in software. But I tried many ROMs and kernels. Do we have any radios/modems to flash separately?
Thanks
Wi Fi 5GHz on AP
I think there should be a 5GHz WiFi output from your AP also to connect with your 5GHz WiFi, correct me if am wrong.
I'm not talking about connecting to 5GHz.
The scan doesn't work...
WiFi analyzer allows to scan 2.4 or 5 GHz ranges. You can swap between two, but with my Note 2 I cannot change band, it always locked at 2.4GHz.
I'd be happy if anyone verified with WiFi analyzer is he can scan 5GHz band.
i have cisco e4200 set with different ssid for 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz. my ipad mini can detect and connect to 5 ghz one but my laptop (asus a55vm) and gnote2 cannot even detect it. updated the router's fw but no dime. so, i was wondering if the my laptop and note2 really support 802.11n at all?!?
no solution or no one even bother to connect to 5 ghz?
No 5GHz
I have the same problem I cannot see the 5GHz Network from my note 2 but I have no problem from my laptop and other clients.
Searching the web I found that the Mac Book Pro has the same problem with some 5 ghz Networks and they require the router to be on a specific channel:
channel 48.
Could this be the same problem with the Samsung Note 2?
Could it be that the radio only accept certain channels on the 5 gigahertz Network ?
I'm not at home but next week, when I go back, I will try to set the router to a more central channel like the 48.

I can see both on mine with wifi analyzer but there is no option to specify bands. apparently Samsung took that out.

In my case I can chose which bands to scan with WiFi Analyzer but then it only shows 2.4GHz networks.
Please, please, please...
Anyone? any help??

You may just be missing the button (which helpfully disappears when you're not messing with the UI). Upper left corner, there's the little Wifi Analyzer icon, just to the left of the text "Wifi Analyzer".
Poke the little area of blackness in between the Wifi Analyzer logo and the -30 dbm label on the chart.
That (normally-invisible) button toggles it between 2.4 and 5 GHz.
I can scan and use 5 GHz fine on my note 2 (my AP at home does 2.4 and 5 GHz at once, and the note 2 can connect to either one). The AP is on channel 149; haven't tried others.
@ tpeef
Thanks for jumping in. I appreciate your help!
I can see that button and I can toggle it. However I see all the 2.4GHz networks but none of the 5GHz.
In a Starbucks cafe I saw and connected to a network with "5" next to it but I didn't have time to check (with my laptop) if actually was 5GHz or just called "xxxxxxx 5".
Could it be that my 5GHz network channel is outside my device's radio's hardware/OS specs? If so, how can I modify the device's specs?

Try the lowest 5 GHz channel.

I had to change the 5GHz channel to the lowest available (36) before my phone would see the SSID.
To get Wifi Analyzer to scan the 5GHz channels tap the upper left hand corner below the icon and above the -30 dBm.

According to WiFi-Analyzer, the Note II can only see 5GHz channels 36-44.
Thanks Rusty Wedges !!!
Ran across your statement, scanned with WiFi Analyzer and seen my 5g channel was up in the 140's I think, and then went into my Asus router, changed it from auto channel to 30 (or whatever the lowest value is) then rebooted my router, and then my phone. Told my phone to forget the network, then re-entered my 5g network credentials and VOILA !
I knew it had to be something like this because when I initially set up my router I was connecting to 5g no problem. Then it just stopped. At least I also discovered I am the only person around with 5g too. Loving seeing link speeds at 150Mbps, thanks again !

Poor Wifi LAn performance

Just picked up this tab from bestbuy to upgrade my Nexus 7 2013. Rooted and flashed CM11, tried Snapshot and nightly. Everything is great except.
Network performance on my NAS. With stock samsung rom I could upload a file at 10 MBPS, on a 5GHZ AC router.
Now CM11 nightly or snapshot I can't send files at all on the 5GHZ AC connection (433 Mbps linkspeed) it starts sending the file and loses connection and times out.
If i connect with the 2.4 GHZ Wireless N speed (72 Mbps link speed) the connection is more stable, most of the time the entire file will transfer without a time out, but at 3 mbps speed only.
This is using ES File explorer. My PC for comparison (wireless AC, 866 mbps link speed) transfers files on the same NAS at 16 mbps with no drop outs. It's also located about 20 yards away vs 2 yards for the tablet.
Internet connection/wifi connection does not drop out, I can use youtube and torrents and download at my capped internet speed (18 mbps) without issue. But as soon as I try to use LOCAL LAN, performance falls off a cliff. Signal strength is always Excellent.
Disapointing, because my Nexus 7 (wireless N) had a reliable connection to NAS, but only uploaded at 6mbps, I was initially excited to see this tablet performing at 10 mbps in stock samsung rom. I do like to grab the tablet and download a tv show and then shoot it to my NAS for local playback on a TV. 3 mbps transfer speed makes this a bit cumbersome a bit slow when transfering 4gb file for example.
Any decent alternative's to ES file explorer? I have had zero luck finding a good Network LAN file manager.
So I did some more testing.
Flashed back to Debloated stock rom and ran test.. was able to use the 5GHZ Band at AC speeds (433 mbps link speed) and upload to the NAS at 9-10 MBPS (70-80 Megabit). File transfer was smooth and uninterrupted.
Flash back to CM11 nightly, snapshot, or sabor and problem returns.
File starts transferring at 1 MBPS, and quickly ramps up to 7 MBPS and then just stops dead and times out. It feels like it's a software issue with a buffer or something. It's like a buffer fills up and can't keep up anymore. It only happends at sustained high speed transfers on LAN.
my Max internet connection is 18 Mbps (1.5 MBPS) so this issue never crops up on youtube/internet/gaming etc.
Has anyone else tested high speed (70+ Mbps) uploading over LAN wifi?
looks like this is something for CM11 developers to fix... I assume you reported it to them already?
The only way I get decent performance to and from my NAS is via FTP and not smb. FTP gives me up to 12mbytes/s whereas smb gives me 7 at best.

5ghz wifi much slower than 2.4ghz, is it just me?

so on my home network I have noticed downloads being very slow on the 5ghz wifi on the play z. I got my partners moto X play and ran the speedtest right next to my moto z play and hers gets 50mbs and I get 5mbs...
to help me trouble shoot, is anyone else experiencing this?
thanks!
I would try restarting the router or changing the channel. Keep in mind that 5GHz does not have the same range as 2.4GHz and will start dropping off and getting slower as you move away more quickly. Most of my devices slow to a crawl or drop when I move outside on 5GHz but 2.4GHz keeps trucking.

its being tested next to a moto x play so the signal isnt the issue. the router has been rebooted a few times and it makes no difference.
as I say, its only a problem on the z play and not the x play
Can you please confirm whether moto z play supports wifi AC standard?
How do you use 5 Ghz band, if not?

It does not have AC but can use 5 Ghz.
I'm having the same problem, it's pretty weird because I use wifi sweet spots to test lab speed and I can't get up to 150 Mbps but on the speed test app I can't get higher than 5 Mbps, I think it's a software thing....
Tri in wireless- Adavanced Settings
Transmission Rate: (Default: Auto)
CTS Protection Mode: (Default: Auto)
I don't have those options under advanced wifi settings !!
Maybe you need to reset the wifi settings. In the Advanced Wi-Fi choose Reset default networks.
Or Maybe you are having something that restricts your connection from the phone, things like VPN, proxy can interfere with the connection speed of the phone.

5GHz Wifi signals can not bee seen or connected to

How's it going guys? I have my Linksys router setup to 2,4 and 5ghz AC. For some reason my HTC 10 can not see the 5ghz signal along with other signals around my room. And my 2.4ghz speed is mad slow. Only getting 15mbps download when only 5' away from the router. I get 100mbps on 5ghz Ac on my PC.
Every other device I own sees and connects to the 5ghz Ac signal except my HTC 10.
Hi, I just tried to connect to my Netgear Dual Band router on the 5 GHz Band and it worked fine..possibly refresh the signals and then turn both the router and the phone on and off? But I assume you may have tried that already?

Have you tried WiFi Analyzer? I can see and connect to my Asus 5Ghz router with no issues...
Did you flash anything on the phone?
Definitely use WiFi Analyzer to configure your router/APs.
EDIT: Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69295617&postcount=223
I think it's a radio issue. I have to update it, so I think I'm just gonna end up doing an ruu
When you go into advanced wifi settings, what does it say under "wifi frequency band?" You may have it set to 2.4 gHz only. Check that before re-flashing anything.
It's set to auto. If I set it to 5GHZ only like 2 networks show. My PC sees like 10
I use htc 10 it does not see the network at a frequency of 5 GHz on channel 149

Dual Wifi? 2,4GHz and 5GHz at the same time?

Hi, Can RN8pro connect on two Wifi bands at the same time? It should support dual band, but in some review is was not working.
And what maximum speeds do you have on wifi connection?

Not at the same time, I've had many phones with 2.4 and 5ghz and none have supported both conections at the same time, my speed for the 2.4ghz my RN8Pro gets a link of 86mbps, and for the 5ghz network the link is 433mbps, but I don't know if the 433mbps is the max speed that the phone allows or if the router is the one that is limiting my connection.
EDIT: However if you configure your 2.4ghz&5ghz networks with the same SSID and password in the router, when you connect to the wifi, your phone based in the signal will switch between 2.4 and 5ghz automatically.

Well Realme phones can connest on more bands of same wifi. RN8pro should be also able, but on TechTablets sad that i was not possible for some reason. I am asking if anything change with new ROM?
RN8pro shoul have also X antenas for wifi and some other tools.
In reviews, it was stated that the note 8 pro was able to connect 2 wifi connections at once. Is that true and how do you do you that?

Redmi Note 8 Pro should have Dual simultaneous wireless network, but it is disabled in software!
Realme X2 has doble speeds in Wifi. Can dovelopers unlock it on RN8pro?
