Any app to download friend's facebook pictures and apply hi-res photos to contacts?

Is there any app that downloads a high resolution Facebook contact picture and assigns it to your contact on the phone?
Theres a plethora of apps that sync "high res" pics (Syncmypix), but attaches it to your gmail account, which then downgrades the quality to all hell, because its like 48x48 res.
You can obviously manually download pictures and assign it to each contact, but that will take forever!
The only other solution is to contact everyone to sign up for Google + and upload a high res picture as their profile picture

Thanks. I've been wondering as well.

If I remember correctly, the low-res limitation is due to Google Contacts sync. I believe when google grabs the picture from the contact (which is in high-res first time) it uploads it to Contacts and converts to 64x64px (?) and then it use that low-res picture for all things.
I dont know if it still works like this but as other people said, there is a bunch of threads about this "problem".

exactly, the current syncing apps sync it with gmail, therefore downsizes it to 64x64 pixels, which looks awful on a 720p screen.
I did do a search, and could not find a straight answer.

I assume that Friendcaster also uses this method? I have "high res" checked but the pictures come out as anything but =/

Google Contact Sync (sorry cant post links yet)
Anyone tried it?
If you google it you just get the google version. there is another which if you search on facebook you will get. Wish I could post a link.. grrrr

Tried it.. still gets 64x64 pics.

This is a limitation with Google contacts online and not the phone. When you it syncs it resizes them.

Why would google release this OS with this new half screen picture UI on contacts and then not allow facebook to use high res photos, it looks like ****!
I can't understand how they looked at that feature and said yeah that looks awesome..

Have you tried Syncmypix ?

from what ive been reading about this phone, the only way to get hi res photos would be if the other users are using google+, all other apps the pic gets downgraded in quality

Wow people, some of the comments in here were completely uncalled for... If you see a thread that's a repost, than by all means respond like a normal human being and politely link them to the other thread. Then either report it or PM a mod so it can be merged.

So if this is the case, could I just sync with friendcaster, then go to accounts & sync and turn contact sync off and the pics would stay high-res?

Tried this, unfortunately it still does not work.

From what Ihave heard, google is not agreeing with some policy of facebook and therefore facebook is not letting them sync. However i think its odd that its only with ics. Maybe it has something to do with the use of the large image?

[Q] Windows Challenge Apps

Need help beating the windows phone, yes I know it is rigged, but there have been successes.
This is to win the new challenge and get a $1000 GC
SO i need some apps/widgets to help beat them
Challenges to beat
1. snap picture of yourself, tag it, and post it facebook
I know HTC can do this from what I remember. But touchwiz don't have this built in. The facebook app and friendcaster does not have an immediate way to tag the picture when posting. Are there any other apps?
2. movie showtimes at the nearest theater
best one i found so far is cinemadroid, but does not get the showtimes of every city and also have a trial period where I have to wipe data or purchase the full one

3. Check SO or best friend facebook status and send them a text message.
HTC i believe have something built in.
I found Contapps to be helpful. It's best to know what they already posted and just say it out loud before it even finish loading like what they do lol

4) use an app called andmadeshare share to multiple things at once. This app also applies for number 6
5 I believe Google goggles does this. Not to sure on it.

lol, I totally would, but they might say I'm using a custom rom or something, it is against the rule to use any modified OS.. so i just use Antilocker

not sure how to actually use that app to share besides maybe photos.
tweetdeck actually does it pretty well for #4. But how do you use it to send a message to a particular person via both sms and facebook message or post.
gonna look at google goggles right now
edit: google goggles actually works pretty well. there are two challenges, one is to translate something to english and to translate english to something else.
Just takes awhile scanning the image though.

lol yeah its really YMMV, some people check, some people don't. But our stock is actually pretty good compared to many other androids so it can perform pretty well.
Anyways if anybody is interested, who is still eligible to challenge.
I gotta a couple more apps we can use, but since nobody is really contributing... jordan and killbynature, if you guys are still eligible to do the challenge pm me.
BTW we're gonna lose the translation challenge, i think only iphone users can compete against them in that category.

can you elaborate on number 3 and 6? i dont think i understand what needs to be done
btw testing my atrix against youtube videos i was able to defeat the post to twitter and facebook at same time (using social status stock atrix widget )
beat them on music using SOUNDHOUND
take photo and share inmediatly using stock camera app.
also it has the option to disable the screen lock on the stock rom
Maybe you can use some of those apps in yours.

[APP] [NEWS] Google Drive on HOX - Now Available! :D

Just unlocked my HOX and saw that their was an update notification.
It was Google Drive!!!
Apparently, the Docs app has been updated to Google Drive.
Still exploring. More to follow.
Update 1: You get 5 gigs of storage space to begin with.
Update 2: It is ICS optimized (no annoying 3 dots). Why the Docs app wasn't optimized becomes clear now.
Update 3: The app is a bit rough around the edges. Stuttery scrolling and some low-res graphics.
Update 4: Drive supports upto 30 different file formats. Some (like PSDs) cannot be previewed by the app but can be in the web version.

Simple - Docs. That's my primary office suite. And I'm sure it will have a lot of other (free or otherwise) goodies to offer as well. Basically the ability to sync with all of Goog's services.
Also, Collaborative editing - A boon for people like me.
Support for 30 different types of file in the browser – including Photoshop and Illustrator files
Upto 16TB of purchasable space
It could go on and on... ;-)

Not to get off topic, but I will probably be getting Google Drive, as I do use Google docs quite extensively when working with teams. Looks pretty cool!
You mention that only 30 types of files are "compatible" with Google Drive. Do you mean that only 30 file types are viewable, or only up-loadable?

Tried Drive but it is not a patch on the dropbox app.

Ok. but i am not a drinker !

Facebook for HTC sense not uploading multiple photos.

I tried to upload 9 photos to Facebook yesterday with HTC Sense via gallery and it said it completed but when I went to Facebook App no photos were there. There is a album there with 0 photos and a thumbnail but when you click on it nothing!
Sorry if this has been asked before but I used GoogleFu but couldnt find a solution.
I have uploaded 1 photo a couple of times over last month and those worked.
I'm confused why it says uploaded but nothing.
The strange thing is when I got to gallery and select album top left then Facebook and then me, the album and photos are there!!
Anyone found a fix??

Same problem, found the solution
Hey, I had the same problem last week. I was uploading pictures to a specific facebook album of mine and it wasnt showing up on facebook.
You're gonna need to connect to Facebook from your PC, go to the specific album and you'll see on the top a mention saying something like (An app tried uploading pictures to your album, allow it or deny it) & it'll work!!

Hi all,
It's Friday so today 'should' be the day that Facebook Home gets released.
No sign of it yet on the UK app store, nor any .apk's floating about.
Once it's out it'd be fun to try it on the One
Once we do have it lets all share or thoughts and experiences of using it.

If it's rolling out on EST time then at a guess it won't hit the play store till after 6pm tonight GMT time.

I don't think it is due out in the UK for another couple of days. The 12th is for the US so we need to find a friendly sole from across the pond to share there apk with us.

There seems to be a problem with it. I've refunded.
There is no launcher in Facebook home apk?! Only 1.03mb in size. Update needed.

It'll be a fake. Facebook aren't listed as Facebook Inc on the Play Store. Just Facebook.

Just to play it safe download and install avast and do a full scan as you don't want your phone infected with any kind of malware as like Tom said that application is fake and they are capitalizing on people wanting facebook home.

Malware? I'm not on not a Windows PC.
I titanium backed up, uninstalled and refunded just to try. If they took any information from the permissions I granted it is already done.
My fault I never checked developer details. :banghead:

I was just reading a blog post about that, its no longer searchable on the play store, its the leaked apks from during the week with malware!

If you grant permissions to an app it is your fault.
Malware is an infection, a program taking over your pc. Impossible on android. Some people here need to learn how Linux works.

No.
Facebook home will essentially be running on top of Sense (much like any launcher). HTC will have to roll out the update to Sense software to put the option to assign menu button to a long press of the back button - in order for the menu to finally come off our screens.
I just wish they'd do it sooner.
I also suspect the HTC One will not be getting Home today as part of the 12'th April Facebook Home launch. And will be delayed until HTC push out the next update that fixes menu.

If facebook implemented the soft menu button then this would also work but as they do not seem to follow google's guidelines this is just a pipe dream but if twitter can remove the menu bar then surely facebook can too.
