Maybe what he is trying to say is we don't know what your "upgrade kit" is for.
Can you add a small description and install instructions? (I know there is already instructions in the Firmware Package folder)
Also, can you write your post in bigger font size, I cannot read? :silly: (just kidding, reducing the font size should help too, use titles)

I am so sorry but I already closed that gt-i9000 upk kit project . If you want more help about installing or other things I can help you with everything.
Nah, you're nice but I flashed a custom rom last night. It was a long time I didn't do that and it was hard to find the tools / roms / cf-root, but I did it.

very very thank bro hihi oh my god
Now my second try to point out an obvious mistake that obviously nobody else noticed: If you overwrite the whole META-INF folder with the one of a theme, you could upload the theme in the first place as this folder contains the updater-script.
@OP: Can you please upload your update.zip so that we can see if it works?
OT: It's very interesting that your posts get moved to a troll thread if you point out a mistake.
Uhhm ok first of all I'm not a 'PRO' at android manipulations or something, just an average xda guy, so please be friendly ...
I was thinking if is there a way that I can make my stock rom function like custom roms? Like have what most custom roms have to offer? I read that stock is always better than custom...
Also like my stock can have tweaks to lengthen batt life, make it faster eventhough its just stock. And also have tweaks like MegaBassBeats etc. just wondering since idk if I can flash those directly on stock.
PS. Im currently using Hybrid v4
You can follow kurotsugi thread to create custom rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590330
I always use stok rom and customize with some tweak, modify infitrams in kernel and add another work from other but still love to use stok kernel.

That thead made after i custom my rom. Lol.
But kurotsugi more better than me to write and his progres very awsome n more advance than me.
Actualy just use rootexplorer, titanium backup, cwm, and winrar in window enough for minimalis customize.
if you don't want to make an installable rom, you can skip that part. you can go directly for customizing section. you can follow chamatht post about deodexing apk's.
PS: thanks savie, but I'm not as good as savie have said. I'm just another noob here

sir what do you mean if I dont want to make an installable rom? and which part do I skip? I just want to make a rom or just customize stock rom and let it have maybe the following:
-bravia engine
-megabassbeats
-v6 and [email protected] support
-deodex (still thinking about it, since it looks kinda hard)
-merruk kernel (I think I read somewhere that it is ok with stock rom? not sure)
those are currently my target for this project... is it possible to have those on (modified) stock rom sir?
Edit: I just read your guide sir, and I think I can do it (I think), so I can customize an existing rom that I have now and put bravia engine + megabassbeats etc. on it? Btw, I have a ccopy of chobits rom so I have the files, your guide says "put be_photo and be_movie in system/etc folder then edit the build.prop" what do I put in build.prop to make it work?

you can go straight to the customization. see add_build.prop.sh inside megabassbeat. that is the script that you should add.

so the add_build.prop.sh I just copy paste the contents to build.prop? or is it supposed to be a separate file that I should just paste somewhere on system folder?

don't copy all the script. you'll need to copy the string and value for build.prop file. if you don't know which one should be copied you can use this one. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zf40rush0bdj1u2

EDIT* After trying for so much on learning how to deodex a rom I finally found the way to do it. I take NO credit for what I'm going to post. i Found this tutorial browsing and searching online for a while and thanks to WANAM for telling me he uses dsinxda to deodex his roms. and DSIXDA for making the tool. Im just going to post the steps I did in order to get my stock rom deodexed. If I make a mistake or use wrong any term please forgive me I'm learning as you are. I just want to help you guys to be able to deodex your rom. I'M NOT GOING TO POST DOWNLOAD LINKS, JUST THE THREADS WHERE YOU NEED TO GO AND DOWNLOAD EVERYTHING FOR YOURSELF. (This to avoid issues with OP of other threads)
DOWNLOAD YOUR STOCK ROM IN A FORMAT TO BE FLASHED BY ODIN. GO TO http://sammobile.com and download your rom. After you have it REMOVE the .md5 at the end. Leave it as .tar
First of all you need to have java, android SDK installed and adb. for this FIRST OF ALL go here and follow the steps
STEP 1 http://www.support-4-you.com/main/i...d-adb-installation&catid=40:how-tos&Itemid=57
http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/downloading-and-installing-the-java-development-ki.html
Afterwards go here and read a little bit. It will give you an overall of what you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1939300 (Yeah I now is for the s3 BUT BELIEVE ME IT WORKS) leave it open just in case.
then visit this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246 and READ IT!
-Download the kitchen and afterward go to post number 3 to install it, I used the option number one for windows 7. i downloaded dsixda_cygwin_install.zip. If you have other operating system I honestly don't know how to do it.
Also click where it says ''RECOMMENDED: Click here for a pictorial guide to assist you with the Cygwin install (thanks to carl1961).'', it will give you a tutorial on how to install the kitchen. Be patient. sometimes you make the steps and it seems is not doing anything, but its working it's just slow.
follow that pic guide on how to install and when you're setting up your rom when it opens the ext2explore tool you dont see your system.img close the kitchen and delete the working folder and start again setting it up and it will work. (at least for me, the 1st time i had no ext4_system.img, the second time I did)
VERY IMPORTANT. After you extract the system, EXTRACT THE CSC If not your rom WON'T WORK.
(Diskinternals linux reader is found on the kitchen folder, then tools. FYI)
ok. after you have Installed the kitchen and the working folder is ready
go to the working folder and delete ext4_system.img from system folder if there is any. Then
-Choose option 0- Advanced Options
-Then choose option 11 Deodex files in your rom
-Then ''bb'' IF YOU WANT
-Then ''v'' and set android level to 16
-then option ''b'' and sit back and wait.
-Then option ''x'' when it's done
-Choose option 99 and follow the steps. remember to zipalign the apps and sign your rom, then change the name of the rom if you want.
- I did not rooted my rom. i use the method 2 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696 to root it aftwerwards. :fingers-crossed:
FINAL STEP! MANDATORY! PLEASE PRESS THANKS IF THIS POST HELPED YOU! :good: :victory: :highfive:
Then copy the rom to your external sd and wipe data, cache , dalvik and go to mount and storage and format system.
go back and flash rom from external sd.
 there you go, your deodexed rom! :fingers-crossed:
I hope this have been helpfull

But half the dual boot is Android (even though the other half is Ubuntu). Is that not enough?
And by the way, where is the Ubuntu forum? I can't seem to find it in the Galaxy Nexus forums. Do you mean the thread? Or do you mean the general Ubuntu section?

I had no problem either, but since i flashed another android rom, i have the same issue as above.
By the way maybe interresting thing, with an explorer with root privilege on the android part we can access some folders like acct, uid, system, init files and more, is it ok? cause i don't remember having access to the uid folder before....
This is great! Thanks!
I noticed that the " Dualboot ubuntu zip file " contains 4.2.1 files & most probably 4.2.1 kernel . Didn't tried this out yet . but like to clarify from those who have flashed this .
Can we use this with 4.2.2 rom ? or it just reverts the rom back to 4.2.1 .

Hello,
I can't find it by search but perhaps someone can give me a link to a one of the above mentiones scripts with files for the Samsung Galaxy Ace II (mine is i8160p). I use stock rom but want to delete the bloatware. This seem to be very simple especially with Rom Cleaner.
I hope that Rom Cleaner can run with temporarly CWM that I use?
Also helpfull will be a list of bloatware from our Rom (version 4.1.2, XXMG2) with explanations for what use the things are.
Sorry for my english. It's forty years ago I learned it.
You can try minimal by judas77 but follow guide to use any rom on GT-I8160P. Something to do with tee folder(sorry i dont know where it is, hopefully i8160p users view this thread)

Thanks, very interesting page and it will help a bit. But i don't want another rom (or flash again the next time) because I've needed a whole day to bring all apps, widgets and so on back to my phone. Also I've backed up the system (and also the TEE dir) with CWM so I can bring back everything easily. But a script with all bloatware (and even Backup like Rom Cleaner) will be helpfull now and in future.
