Wierd Stock Recovery? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
I rooted my HTC 10 (via htc dev method) and I wanted to go back to fully stock. I am on 1.95.401.4 (android 6). I managed to unroot it properly but the stock recovery image that I could find online is a bit weird. If I enter recovery mode a picture of a red triangle and exclamation mark appears. I have to the power and vol up buttons to get in the recovery menu. Before I rooted my phone it was different. If I selected recovery mode in bootloader only the recovery menu popped up (there was no picture). Also the appearance on the menu was a bit different... I would like to apply the ota nougat update but I'm scared about the difference between this recovery and my previous one...
Thanks for the answers in advance!

[Q] Flash ClockworkMod Recovery with android 2.3

Hi,
I am trying to "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" from android 2.3.1.
All seems to works ok from within the application, but when i try to reboot into recovery i am still getting the original recovery menu.
I am getting the red triangle with exclamation mark - pressing the power button + volume up i am getting the regular boot menu.
Did anyone encountered this issue ?
Regards,
Eyal Rif
If you want CWM3 (the newest version), try placing this zip that grumpy bastid made on the root of your SD and then powering the phone up while holding volume down. From the hboot menu it will ask if you want to install an update, select yes.

It worked great for me.

[Q] Stuck on HTC Logo after JB update

I've recently got the JB update so I installed it, or atleast tried. Because when I try to turn on my phone again it gets stuck on the HTC logo (White screen).
I think somehow my battery went down during the installation and now I can't access my phone anymore.
It's a clean phone, no costum ROM and I haven't rooted it in any way.
Is there a way to fix my problem? (Preferably withour rooting it.)
I tried holding the power and volume down buttons and then selecting recovery but that doesn't work as I just end up getting stuck on the black screen with the Red triangle.
Regards

Try going into HBOOT
Hold down Power button & volume down buttons together when the phone is switched off. This will take you into HBOOT.
Select Recovery using the volume down button and press power to select it.
Hopefully it is able to recover and re-flash the firmware.

That is exactly what I did, but I ended up on the black screen with the triangle (As stated in my first post).

Doh missed that bit Sorry to be of little help. Hopefully someone else can proffer a solution.
if it's an unrooted phone, HTC have been very good at fixing phones bricked during OTA in my experience (2 day turnaround)
When you see the phone with the red triangle before you want to enter the recovery press vol - and the power button.....or at least the vol - button. Can't recreate it as i am on a custom recovery. You will bypass the red triangle and will enter the recovery. Maybe a cache wipe wil do, or a factory reset !

I've tried the factory reset be just like the normal boot it gets stuck on the HTC logo.
Clearing the cache might work but doesn't your phone needs to be rooted for that?

I cant recall if wiping cache is an option in the stock recovery !?
One can erase cache using 'fastboot erase cache' after getting the phone to restart in fastboot mode. See here and go to the 'Try this first' section. Hope this helps.

Sounds like hboot version problem with JB upgrade, what version of HOX you have? what version of hboot? , maybe we can unlock your phone and recover the system with custom rom and then rollback to stock rom.

Trouble with recovery screen

SO I have the Tmobile USA version of the htc one m8. Idk what I did but now my boot loader is relocked and every time I go to the recovery screen it shows me a red triangle. I flashed the stock recovery and after that, that's when it started to give me that issue. I used the all-in-one toolkit or whatever to do it. How do I fix this issue & get my phone to fully stock like how it came out the box with it being unrooted and what not?
The red triangle IS stock recovery. Just press volume down then power to enter menu.

Please don't create new threads when you already have some going, you said phone was originally on gpe, so going to stock recovery will do nothing for you. This will confuse other people if you don't give the full story and you could be told to do something that could make things worse. Do not use a toolkit and just run the ruu.exe that I pm'd you about. This will get you back to stock. Flashing stock recovery does nothing for getting stock rom back. You need to have proper htc drivers installed, easiest way is to install htc sync. Boot boot loader, click fastboot and run the ruu.exe.

access to recovery after MM update

Guys,
Does anyone have problem accessing recovery after update.
I update it to MM 6.0, phone works fine but just does not get to recovery. I tried from boot but no sucess.
Everything is stock, non rooted.
Any idea what may be wrong?
I also can't access recovery (red triangle) and it says that system software modified, even though I haven't touched anything, only install the OTA update.
What can I do to revert to official status and regain recovery? Also flashing a RUU will delete my files or no?

RUU flash will delete everyting for sure.
I'll try in the afternoon to flash RUU then unlock bootloader and be ready as soon as root method be published.
I have that red triangle as well and i can acces the stock recovery. When that triangle appears press the power button and the volume up once at the same time. Or hold the power button and press the volume up button . Either way it (don't know wich) it works for me

Yes, its not clear, but the OP may be confused about the fact that when you see the red triangle, that is the stock recovery (then perform the button sequence above to access the recovery menu options).

Is it missing STOCK RECOVERY?

Hi All,
I just bought the HTC M9 plus yesterday and find the phone status as
software status OFFICIAL
LOCKED
HTC_HIAU_ML 128 SHIP S-ON
O.S 1.03.708.12
CID HTC__622
when I tried to advanced boot options and there are options as
REBOOT
REBOOT TO BOOT-LOADER
BOOT TO DOWNLOAD MODE
BOOT TO RECOVERY MODE
POWER DOWN
>>When I tried to get into the recovery , it shows red triangle with exclamation mark and finally reboots to system.
>>going to download mode warns me as
LOCKED
htc_hiaur_ml_tuhl PVT S-ON
LK-1.01.000
OpenDSP- UNKNOWN
OS-1.03.708.12
security checking failed NOT-FIND_SMART_IO
What is the problem?
All I I wanted is to change the software region, have a recovery and root.
Please help!!
Thanks
Its corrupt (twrp?). Try unzipping with a different program. If no joy error check your harddrive and/or redownload.

Hi Shivadow,
Thanks for the reply. I never installed TWRp and how should i install one as the phone is S-ON and Locked.
When you get to the screen with the triangle and exclamation mark, while pressing and holding the power button, press and release the volume up button.
Thanks,
It's when I get to boot loader and press boot to recovery. The triangle appears and then nothing. It just restarts.

yep, that's stock behavior, nothing wrong with it, do what the guy said a post back to get to stock recovery, although I don't know why you want to.
Thanks, Well I'm new to HTC phones. I wanted to flash the firmware of different region.
I'm s-on and locked. What should I do ?
