Hello, I was wondering if it was safe to use the charger's plug head to charge my PlayStation 4 Controller? I was also thinking of getting a charging dock that uses MicroUSB as power input. Need some info please.
For non Dash-charge devices it works like a normal charger, so no problems in charging DS4 controllers. Max charging rate will probably be around 1.5 amps, if the DS4 controllers even support that. ?
Okay thank you Pitrus, much obliged.

I have a Cardo Scala 500 Bluetooth headset which I can only charge using the stupid plug that came with it. See picture attached.
Can any one advise me if it would be possible to convert this cable so it would give power to the carge cradle from a USB port ?
Cheers.
Well..
The USB port supplies 5v and upto 500 mA..
You've got enough current, but not enough voltage..
This MIGHT be solved by adding 6 or 7 diodes in series, but get this verified before doing it..
Is it very unlikely that 5v would be enough to run the charger ?
I have two other BT Headsets (Southwing NeoVoice and Motorola HS810) that both charge off a USB port just fine.
Out of interest, do you happen to know how much voltage a car cigarette lighter provides ?
12 to 14 volts..
Different headsets have different voltage..
5v on a 9v device is not enough..
why don't you check first what the voltage output is. maybe it is also supllied with 5v. most portables are 5v anyway just like my ipaq.
Hello guys,
Lately I have been using the MHL/HDMI cable for gaming on my Galaxy nexus to play Modern combat 3. Since i'v tethered my dual shock controller through bluetooth, Wifi is on for online playing, and the screen is on while playing, always run out of juice!! Even though my phone is plugged to the charger.
so i have been wondering if any of you guys could help me put my screen off while plugged into MHL/HDMI. Or help me under volt. thank you
Are you sure your using the correct charger?
Try a 10watt USB iPad charger.
am using the apple 10W USB Power adapter. input: 100-240v ~0.45A.... 50-60Hz Output: 5.1V 2.1A
the white block one
I think the nexus is limited to 1A. Not sure if the limit is changed when using mhl. Also, heat is a factor. It might be possible to get longer play times if you have air flow all around your nexus to keep it cooler. Meaning elevate it without a cover on. And maybe a fan blowing on it.
Sent from my Nexus in Texas.
When you charge go to phone status in the settings does it say charging Ac or charging usb ? if it says charging usb there's your problem.

MHL is limited to 500ma per spec.

Q. 4
Pogo pin charging seems like our only hope.
Came here to ask the same question as no matter what adapter I used it showed charging USB which for gaming isn't enough by a long shot. Good to know i'm not the only one.
Is there a way to get the kernel to ignore the type of connection and draw as much power as is possible? Similar to how many of the tablet kernels were modded to allow charging over USB and not just the adapter that was packaged with the device.

Has anyone tried a charge only cable? These are the cables which have a short across the data pins. I know it's a long shot since the AC charger should cross the same data pair.
I hope there is some XDA magic that can be applied to draw more current. I have a feeling it will require a hardware tweak of the MHL adapter and driver level hacking of the silicon image chip.
I have tried a few different AC adapters including the blackberry, HTC, and a random LG charger and they all showed as charging as USB and not AC. I would imagine it is in all MHL adapters and/or the phone.
I am looking for reliable car charger for KF. Any suggestions?
It needs to output 1.8v 1.8amps .. which is more than most car adapters will support.

So, no car charging? Even slow? I mean, you can charge with 1A, slow but can do a job?

I think you are wrong about the 1.8v, my charger says 5v @ 1.8 amps, which means you could use any usb charger rated at over 1.8 amps.

Meant to say 1.8amps not volts. Most car adapters are 1amp or less. Many car lighters (the socket) max out at 1amp. Utility plugs may go higher, but the charger plug you use itself needs to support it.
You are right about the 1amp though, anything over 1amp will cost quite a bit more than the few dollars a 1amp adapter costs . In that case it would be worth looking into seeing if the manufacturer of the Kindle Fire sells a car charger, but I would only use that for trips, there is no way I would leave my KF charging in an unattended automobile.
Your best bet would be to find a car charger with a USB port on it that can support an iPad 2. If it can charge an iPad, it can charge the Kindle. Tons of good options on Amazon.

Wouldnt any cigarette lighter plug with a USB connection work?

I bought the "GTMax Black 2-Port USB Car Charger Adapter 2A" from Amazon, it has two usb slots, one with 1A and the other 2.1A. Works great on my Bionic, have yet to try it w/ the kindle though.
I'm using a 2AMP charger as wel and it charges just fine. Most chargers designed for the IPAD will work well. Just make sure it has a regular USB port on it and not the apple connector
Any USB charger with a micro connector will charge it provided the KF is using less power at the time than the charger is able to provide. It doesn't have to be rated for 1.8 amps. I've used everything from a 0.5 amp Motorola RAZR charger to a 2.0 amp charger and they've all done the job. The only difference was the time required. I can't see why it being a car charger would make any difference either. My T-Mobile 1 amp car charger worked just fine with it.
Most USB chargers will work
Hi,
As others have said, most USB chargers will work. However, there is one exception that I ran into recently and its well documented on the forums here - if your battery gets too flat. e.g. you left it at home when you went away, it will need at least 5V @ 1.6A to actually recharge.

I live in Finland and just ordered the Nexus 7 (2013) from the US. I just realized we have different electric plugs and won't be able to use the default charger without an adapter. Couple of questions:
1) I have two miniusb smartphone chargers. The HTC charger says "Output: 5V = 1A" and the Nokia one "Output: DC 5.0W 1200mA". Will I be able to use these to charge the Nexus 7?
2) I think it's possible to simply use a piece to change the US plug type into the Finnish one since the adapter supports universal voltage and amperage ranges. Will this be the safest and most efficient way to charge?
3) It's possible to use a computer as USB power source. Will this work and how does this method compare efficiency/safety wise to 1) and 2)?
Update: support.google.com/nexus/7/answer/3257354?hl=en
The input voltage range between the wall outlet and this charging unit is AC 100V–240V, and the charging unit’s output voltage is DC 5.2V, 1.35A.

Your Nexus 7 can be charged via the USB port on a computer only when Nexus 7 is in sleep mode (screen off) or turned off. Charging through the USB port will take longer than charging with the USB charging unit.

4) Wireless charging looks sexy, but how does it compare to 1, 2 and 3? Any recommendations in that regard?
Update: Wireless charging has a speed penalty and the chargers seem to be quite expensive.
Your Nexus 7 will be fine with any USB charger. I have tested mine on 3 different chragers with US, UK, and EU voltage. My USB chargers all say 100-240v. I know EU and UK is 240v. So yes you will be fine with any usb charger.
As far as I know, all micro-USB chargers can take an input voltage of around 120-240 V, which it what you'll find pretty much everywhere in the world, and supply 5 V to the device, so no need to worry about that. The only difference between cables is how much current they can carry, but your battery will only suck as much as it needs to (unless it's limited by the cable, of course), so there is no way more current could go into it then it is safe.
I have also bought my N7 in the US and use it in Europe and charging it by using an adapter to convert from the US plug to the EU one works just fine.
Connecting it to the USB port on your computer will only give about half the current, which is why they say you should keep it off while charging. It will take about twice as long as using a wall charger and there is no gain in battery health. However, if you want to actively use the device, the current supplied by your PC may be less than how much the tablet is using, which will result in an overall (slower than usual) discharge.
I can't say anything about wireless charging, as I've never used it and I'm not planning on starting now.
tl;dr: Use any USB charger on any of your devices, no harm will be caused. The only difference that could show up is charging speed. :good:
Has anyone tried any double usb-c adapters and can we get a list of working/not working units with links going?
I got this for my car and works well with the OnePlus 7 Pro
ACCGUYS USB C to 3.5mm Audio Headphone Jack Adapter with 20V Fast Charge Compatible with Google Pixel 3/3 XL/2/2 XL,iPad Pro 2018 and Other Typ
I'm using Baseus, and it's workig well. No issues with charge and audio.

seems to work well. detects as headphones and charges too (both plugged into the adapter when the adapter is plugged into the phone)
I'm using the PZOZ. Works very well but I haven't tested if it works with warp charging. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/PZOZ-usb-type-c-to-3-55mm-jack-audio-splitter-headphone-cable-Earphone-aux-3-5/32871294046.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.2ba04c4dKkvm1d

Scratch this one, after awhile it started to no longer plug in properly, I tried getting a new one and right off the bat it audio didnt work and about 2 days later the power plug no longer worked.
I'm looking for a 2 m long cable that supports warp loading. (30 W or 25 W).

1.2a @ what voltage?
Unfortunately one linked above I can not find in the US but I did find that UGREEN just released a model:
https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Supports-Headphone-Charging-Aluminum/dp/B07H76VRPZ/
UGREEN is the first "brand name" that I know of that has released an adapter with charging so this may be a great sign of things to come!
I don't know, i'm going off ampere app as I don't have hardware to get actual values

Strange the app would not tell you that because otherwise the app does nothing. Knowing the amps without the volts has no meaning. It is like asking how bright a star is and you tell me the temperature of the star instead and no information on the radius. lol
Now I could be wrong but maybe the Oneplus 7 only supports 5v charging in which case 1.2a is even slower than the minimum normal charging speed of 2a @ 5v.
For reference while the warp charger supports up to 30W it means that at 1.2a your charging at 6W or about 1/5 the maximum speed. (assuming 5v)
BTW this means that when looking at charging specs for batteries and other things to charge your 7 pro your going to want to look at the max amps supported @ 5v.
please recommend. i really need one. Thanks

Buddy if you'll use a splitter ( which is not recommended)
You'll be compromising both audio quality and charging speeds.
I tried some of them. It's a waste of money.
What i rather do is charge my phone first coz it has 30w wrap charge which is very fast.
Then use the audio adopter to use headphones
Or a very simple solution buy galaxy buds. Better than airpods in every way and you can use you phone while charging while watching a long movie.
Profit ! ?
