Hey, guys! I've recently purchased the HTC Hi-Res Adaptive Sound 2.0 Headset (Max 320). I've tried to use those on the 10 but had no luck. These headphones which use the Type-C input should technically work on the 10 as it supports the "Hi-Res Audio", but all I get when I plug in the Headset is "Accessory not supported". Could this be a hardware issue or a firmware issue? So I wanted to ask if any of you guys have it and if you do, how did you get it to work? I've also attached a screenshot of the message.

I'd try going under the developer options of your phone and checking the USB input and changing it to see if that gets you anywhere. It'd be pretty weird if the headphones are phone specific. I have a different pair of USB C headphones that have active noise cancellation that work on my other headsets. As a last attempt, try downloading the free trial of USB Audio Player and see if the headphones work with that app.

Hey @mnguyen127! I've tried what you told me to do, by changing the input type but it didn't work. I've tried all the options in the developer settings but it didn't work out. Do you have any other ideas?

Have you tried the USB audio player app? That thing has worked wonders for me when it comes to finicky USB C
I'm in a similar situation, and nothing I've tried worked. Now, I saw someone mention something about firmware on another similar thread, so we might just have to wait for when HTC finally decides to update the 10
I have a pair of JBL Reflect Aware C which are USB-C active noise cancelling headphones, but I've noticed that after a certain update, my headphones won't work without the USB Audio Player app. Same thing happened on my Google Pixel which makes me think that if you roll back the update on your phone, you'll probably get audio out of USB-C.
the high-res certified has nothing to do with the headphone Support. the suppor for those headphones are disabled so deep in System stuff, that me and other couldn't get it to work, even with Sound stuff from u Ultra and u11. you can't use them unless HTC supports them on the 10
I still have those from the Bolt when I tested the device. but can't use them. so either HTC Needs to fix it in their Firmware or they don't want it or so. maybe the cables inside are different from other usb c Audio devices so that might be a Problem too

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced this issue as Google shows. Has anyone found a fix to the stupid headphone jack not working thing. How if you use certain devices the phone will not output audio. Like the aux in my car or at my work? BT works fine. Headphones work fine its mainly aux. Unplugging the device and replugging it a few times will eventually solve the issue. the thing I think is funny. I plug my aux in and it shows the little aux symbol on my phone in the status bar. but as soon as I start Google Music, it goes away and disables the aux cable. obviously that is a software thing. Is anyone working on it?

I run soundabout pro and never any issue with my aux out with any device I was plugged into
Soundabout only somewhat works for my headphones.. Powered headphones really confuse the crap out of this device.

Hello,
So my headphone jack on my phone broke, when I put my headphones in it doesnt recognize them. I bought a micro usb to headphone port for my phone but it doesnt work. My question is if these cables never work or do you need an app or something for it to work?
Thanks in advance!
In 'Developer Options' there are settings for routing Audio via USB, I cannot remember what settings are there but take a look if anything can be turned on or off to enable Audio over USB. I know these phones support it as well as the HG1 Hi-Res Speakers by Sony, but how it works, I do not know.

Yes i found that already and its turned on, I have also tried soundabout, you can choose where the audio goes, but that also didnt work. I hope there is someone who does know it.
Have you tried the detect usb devices option in the drop down notifications? There's also a settings page for it.

Yes I found it, but it doesnt detect anything. Also when I go to developer options and I select audio source at Select usb configuration it doesnt work. I've also tried soundabout but that doesnt work either..

Okay, so with soundabout I couldn't get it to work through the micro usb with developer options off, so I thought trying the headphone jack and it worked with soundabout!
I dont know how this happened, but everyone thanks for helping!!!

Hello guys,
I just brought type c audio adaptor for my zuk z2 and when i connect my mi in ear headphones pro to it, It doesn't work, The audio still comes through speakers, it shows some power supply is connected, but can't change it or click it,
So my question is, Is there a way i can route audio through usb type c? Cause i have seen type c earphones working on zuk z2 and is it something related to DAC? I tried enabling "route audio through usb" from developers options, but still no luck and my rom is crdroid, so any workaround?
Thanks in advance

If you are using custom ROM, then visit developer options in about phone.
Look for USB Audio routing and enable it.
Something similar to this must be available on stock ROM as well as custom ROMs.

There is an option to disable it but not enable it did that, i also did "select usb configuration" to audio, but i think it may work in some other rom or any mods??? But currently it show me something is connected but won't let me change it so i am positive it should work with some tweaks as it detects it but sound still comes through speakers
Thanks for the help anyway ?
I've been doing some searching around about this as well and I've come to the conclusion that I think it is actually something at a hardware level. You see, for audio over usb-c to work, the manufacturer has to decide to allow for the audio pins to be routed the the USB-C port instead of a headphone jack. Now most modern phones seem to support this but the Z2 with its headphone jack seems to not be wired to allow for letting audio be routed to the USB-C port which is why plugging in one of these straight through USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack converters doesn't actually do anything.
It's a shame since the headphone jack on my Z2 just died and because I can't use an adapter to run my audio through type-c I'm having to buy myself an entirely new phone just so I can have a working headphone jack. Oh well
Hey guys, I know I am 3 years late, if anyone still has this question it IS POSSIBLE to get audio through the usb port, you will need an OTG cable and a usb DAC (not an expensive one, the small ones for pc that take almost no space should work), connect your headphones to the DAC and to the OTG cable and you are done!
Hi All,
Do anyone know how to fix "USB Error" issue when connecting HTC One M8 via USB for audio output ? I am on S. Team ROM (android 6.0.1) and getting "USB Error" message whenever I connect my HTC One M8 to my CAR USB port. I tried with enabling "Audio Source" for USB Configuration in Developer options as well, but still getting the same error message.
But my iPod Touch works perfectly when I connect it via USB to my CAR.
Any fix ?
Thanks
A lot of car stereo units are only compatible with iPhones and iPods. In part, this is laziness by the stereo manufacturers. There is simply too much diversity/fragmentation in the possible storage configurations of the various Android devices for them to handle (or bother with, at least).
You'll probably have better luck with Bluetooth, if you car stereo supports it.

Thanks for answering. Bluetooth works fine with my Ford Car. But I wanted to try out with USB audio output as I read some articles on internet that USB audio output can be superior than 3.5mm headphone output and bluetooth output.
In fact, the USB audio output had worked only once with WOLLA ROM for me with my car ( not sure how), after that it never worked. Now, I tried with S.ROM also and not working anymore. Since it worked at least once, I think it should work.
Hi
just set up the device and all went fine, trying youtube music for the first time.
after some seconds the music disappeared with crackle sound through ehadset on highest volume.
unplugging and replugging the 3,5mm headset through adapter that came with device on usb c there was an electrical crack sound in the headset when un- and replugging.
closing the app and relaunching worked for a short time then sound disappeared on one ear. same crack in ears on (un)plugging.
second headset no difference, but then it works without any issues when using headset volume just one step below max volume.
so this is a known issue on that device, software thing or hardware thing?
evreything else is fine, should we cross check built in speaker on highest volume for crackles to chekc the hardware or do headset through usb c and built in speaker run throught two different output stage/amplifier circuits?
thx for any help
Yea this is happening. There is another thread here also talking about it. It drives me crazy... Seems to be software related (hope so), as some people said installing another rom solves the issue. I also noticed (at least until now) that the problem seems to involve instagram, everytime I had this issue, I checked and instagram was opened on background. I don't remember having the issue when I close instagram beforr plugging the headphone. Not sure about the relation though, still needs to test more.
I will install xiaomi.eu rom soon to test if this happens there also.
Btw, what miui version are you running?

Whatsapp aswell is a big issue. Some people said replacing the typec/jack adaptor works.. but i dont have another one for the moment to test.
ah, just saw the other thread, 2 sites already
so at least no hardware issue, at least not the device, maybe the adapter
thought about buying bluetooth or usb headset anyway as i think even if only some grams the 3,5 on the adapter always tears a little bit on the cord/usb c plug over weeks/months/years and might affect the port
after a restart and reinstalling youtube music i could not reproduce it anymore
have been listening half an hour music without any issues and had a phone call another 25 minutes with headset without sound issues
running global version with
global 10.2.9.0 PFBEUXM
while PFBEUXM should stand for eu anyway?
is there a way to flash another official rom without rooting/unlocking the device and loosing warranty?
thx
