facebook in contacts - how do you

I have just purchased the htc desire on 3 uk for £349 and have to say I AM VERY IMPRESSED, the desire is to replace my HTC hero as I have got sick of HTC promising 2.1 android and not delivering. My hero is now on ebay !!
Question for all you fab people out there , I have my facebook sync'd on the desire as I want the info to go through to my contacts however all my facebook contacts who;s users have mobile phone numbers shown have appeared in my phone bit *the big button which says phone" they dont appear in my people list however
question how do I remove them from the dial bit ?
I have unsync'd the contacts but then cant link my contacts I want with the facebook bit

I have a similar issue, when i go to messages and click new, then add the recipent, it brings up all 467 friends on my facebook....I don't want this. Its silly.

Is this HTC Super Caller ID?

Is the what is referred to as HTC Super Caller ID or a different program?

That's not it. Essentially it shows the latest status update from Facebook and the birthday of the person calling. It's a gimmick.

so is this something that is built in to the new 2.2 android update or is it a seperate app that you have to install for this information to be displayed?

It's built into HTC's Sense UI with Froyo, yeah.

When someone calls you, assuming you've linked their account in your contacts then it should just pop-up.

Yeah their picture pops ip but their status and birthday doesn't, am I missing a setting somewhere maybe?

I'm interested in this as well as I have the same features as 2.1 when receiving a call.

What are you guys going on about? This is an app called super caller id, it has nothing to do with htc, its a 3rd party app that shows the callers address and other info on the dialers incoming call screen, it only works in a handfull of contries atm tho

A few months ago I was using BB Storm 2 and was alerted when ever someone posted on my Facebook or commented on something I had commented on
Does this do that too or is that just a BB thing

Sounds like you're on about push alerts. Depending on who you believe v1.5.0 on the Desire was meant to include these but I've never had them so I'd say no it currently doesn't include them
You can set up you account to send you an email when those events happen but the app will only alert to messages, friend requests & event invites

So if its not included could I not just install the app

Yes, you can and there is a new version out today. But some people seem to get the notifications and some don't.

As an aside, the FB app is already on the Desire - just update it to v1.5.1 (todays update) via the Market
Not had any push notifications so far so doubt it's working...seems the BB/iPhone version are better than the Android one

I get push notifications for new messages,friend requests and event invites, but I had to set the app to never poll,rather than every 30 minutes etc. That should give you push notifications. But it's still quite limited, you don't get anything when someone comments on a photo etc.

The only notifications I get every from facebook are when I get messages or friend requests. But most seem to be quite delayed at times, between when they're actually sent and when I get my notification on my phone.
Only downside to android is the lack of a good well working facebook app.

Facebook need to pull their finger out their arse and actually make a decent app. Fair enough, it's harder to make an Android app than an iPhone app since there are loads of different models.... but still.
As for push notifications, they're suppose to work if you have 2.2+ but they don't.

theres a few 3rd party facebook apps that have push notifications

HTC 7 Trophy mango buggs

The htc alps in the marketplace doesn't work and the facebook chat setup won't work. Any one know how to get the facebook chat working

samsung marketplace apps don't work for me either after the mango update. guess it's a OEM marketplace not being compatible yet with the mango update.
facebook chat works fine for me. when i was using vodafone sim in my phone, i kept getting logged off and disconnected every few seconds. tried a different operators and sim and it's been working fine. depends on vodafone's data speeds in your country and their reliability.

Did you ever try to search the forum to see if its o problem or not ????
Both of those are bug m8 ??? Its just you ...and if you make bold statetments like that ...you want get any help ....
All of the HTC apps works fine and the Facebook works fine....Search to find the solution

Yeap, I have a Trophy and everything is working. Facebook chat and HTC apps.

Just search for htc if HTC Apps doesnt list anything..

[Q] can't sync contact of Facebook for HTC Sense

i have a wildefire s with 2.3.5
Background data and Auto-Sync are both checked
i added my facebook account and all of my account data has been synced except my contact
it says ( Sync is currently experiencing problems. it will be back shortly)
i have removed my account and added it again but nothing happened.

I think smth broken with htc fb. Some time ago fb updated his politic: u cannot sync now status info - just pics. Htc fb app had this option and cause of this smth is blocking whole app (they will for sure not update sense 2.1 any more). Had same problem with crossfire stock rom (and marvelous edition too). Install sync.me its good enough.
