Hi Everyone
Complete new comer to rooting
How to root a HTC ONE M9
I've never used or seen a rooted device and I'm not computer savvy at all.
So I'm wondering what would be the best way to go about rooting my device?
I would love to learn about this process but don't want to ruin my device, also I'm hoping to
speed up my device and just get it running better in general and have fun customizing it with a
few great apps.
I'd really appreciate any useful advice
Thanks for your time and help

I want to do a full root of my EVO and really don't want to screw it up. I am very computer literate but have never rooted a phone before and am new to all things in that regard . Basically I want to be able to remove all the Sprint bloatware, be able to load various roms and a few other things but most importantly, I want to be able to revert my phone back to complete pre-root stock if the need should arise.
So what I am asking is for one of the more experienced devs here to spend a little time with me on the phone and walk me through everything step by step, and answer any questions I might have and give me any pointers that I might not be aware of. I understand that everyone is very busy working their magic that I have seen just from lurking here for a while, and I am more than willing to compensate you for your time through paypal. I'm hoping to do this sometime within a week or so.
If anyone is willing to help I would greatly appreciate it.
Not to Burst your bubble or anything, but there are TONS of guides that will help you. Most of them are step-by-step.
Here's a good source for the guides-

If you plan to tackle rooting, I would suggest that you do it the right way the first time. Unrevoked is more of a joke if you ask me. All it does is create problems because the people who "Root" that way know nothing about how the phone works.
Learn ADB. The hardest part of adb is installing the files. Everything else is simply copying and pasting what the devs tell you too.
I don't have the time to walk you through it, and probably wouldn't be able to answer all your questions.
Good luck in finding someone to help you, if you attempt to do it by yourself, just post back where you get stuck and there are plenty of great people that will help you along the way.
Thanks, and welcome to the community!

Hi All,
I'm a proud owner of DHD and new to Android. I just got my phone off the shelf. After seeing some pics of those customized phones, I really want to do those mods in my phone as well. But the sad thing is that I'm really clueless on where to start and what is the best approach. Kindly help me out!!!=) My wife also has the same phone. I also want her to have these mods on her phone. It would be best if you can provide me with a step by step process.
I will really appreciate the help.
Thanks.
Check out the DHD forums read everything you can find. Lots of tutourials just Google away. Read read read and make sure you understand what you need to do and when you feel comfortable go for it. Lots of help also on Youtube.
This is a good start...

Hello,
Glad you've decided to root! Best thing to do is to give this entire tutorial a read:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
Once you've done that the rest is pretty straight forward, that's where I started .
As I'm on my phone now I'm feeling pretty lazy in answering fully, but if you have any more problems, feel free to message here again or send me a PM and I'll give you a hand / lead you in the right direction to rooting.
And also, the "best" ROM is personal preference, whether you like the feel and look of Sense, or whether you'd want to go Open Source, such as Cyanogen or Oxygen.
Hope that guide works for you!
Dan.

Please excuse the question but I am a 4 month owner of a G2. Right before I bought the phone I startedlooking into the reviews for this phone which I ended up seeing things about modifying (rooting) the phone. I'm sorry to be asking aq question that may have been answered thousands of times but I do not want to act like I know what I'm talking about here. I'm in the construction business and use my phone for work and gradual personal use.
I am very intersted in modfying my phone to better suit me but I have no idea what each one of these different roots do. Are there any links out here that someone can guide me to in order to see the differences in these roots? I would like to know what each of them do in order to determine which root better suits me.
I appreciate any assistance you can offer out here. Thanks in advance.

As far as rooting your device, the guide in the wiki is the most failsafe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
As far as ROMs and modifications, here's the best jumping off point: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916431

The guide to rooting is fairly technical, but if you follow the steps (seriously, double check your typing before issuing commands), you'll be good to go. As far as the ROMs go, the list in the link I sent you is most of the more reputible ROMs and the links will take you to their threads which will detail the benefits, additions, etc. each ROM has.

Not sure if this is allowed or if any knowledgeable dev would be willing! I would gladly trade my old HTC EVO 3D and a HTC HD2 (with Android) for personal help rooting and putting the best custom ROM on my T-mobile Galaxy S4 m919. I have only ever rooted a device once and I do not feel comfortable rooting this device. Understand that I will do the work, I just need step by step for dummies. And maybe fb chat or sms support. And possibly a link to the files. I've read several posts and they tend to get quite a bit confusing.
I would like the most recent ROM with microSD read/write capabilities and everything else working as it should. Although I have rooted a device before (successfully), I don't feel comfortable doing it by myself again. Since T-mobile ruined my GS4 with KitKat 4.4.4 and the 5.0 they plan to release doesn't seem to fix the sd issue, I figured root was the only way to go.
On my word, I will mail these phones out upon successful root and custom ROM! If your interested, please email me at [email protected].
NO BRICKING PLEASE! But Givin the experience of most devs and chefs, I'm not too worried there. I figure I'm the only one who would cause that. (I'm good at following instructions to a tee).
If this us not allowed, I'm sorry, feel free to delete.
Thank you,
Don

I didn't think I was going to get the assistance I was looking for. But one Senior Member stepped up immediately and went above and beyond my expectations! I knew there was a reason I joined xda-developers.com so long ago! It's refreshing to know that this website is full of members that are willing to step up and help out us, technologically challenged, and don't keep their knowledge to themselves. Thanks brian117. look forward to when I can return the favor for some other NooB!
