There's one in the first post of the resources thread in the general forum. There are other versions in other threads too.

The recoveries are for both Z008 and Z00A. I dont know what will happen if you flash a Z008 recovery on a Z00A device. But better dont try it.
Also, you have to use the Z00A recovery and not the Z008 one.
Oh so sorry
My bad
Didn't saw the z00a folder
I am on mobile !!

@kenbo111 tnx for helping me...but can u tell me do i have to go with OTA or full ROM ???
Hello everyone. It has been awhile I touched my parent's asus zenfone 2 american version. The model number is Asus_z00AD when I went into the About screen. It is currently rooted running on Android 5.0. The baseband is ww_2.20.40.97_20150917. I forgot the method I used to root it but it is a method that was supposed to let me do OTA without any issue, however there is a system update available that I tried to do but it failed. Since android 6 just released for this phone, is there a way I can start completely over and install android 6? Like restore to stock 5.0 or what not and then do the android 6 update and then root?
This should work for you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3452082

Thank you for the link! How do I unroot my asus zenfone 2?
Don't need to worry about it. The first part will get you back to pure stock.

Oh ok, because I read that the OP said to unroot first before doing anything.
