Running one of the latest CM7 nightlies (#77 I think) on my i9000M. Updated to the latest Skype a few days ago, and now every time I attempt to log in I get this error message "Please re-install Skype." I tried reinstalling Skype from scratch, to no avail. What up with this?
Yeah, this happened in many ROMs and firmwares, not only on your CM7...I dont know why, even is newest original Skype or modded...Some bug ?
Regards
Same problem, wiping data/reinstalling didn't work.
Vibrant running CM7.
Has anyone found a solution for this? I am having the same issue on my Samsung Vibrant running CM7.

Sure, See attached.
EDIT.
So after tinkering a bit it turns out that i was in fact entering my password wrong and was not able to sign in at all. Now i have been able to sign in the last 2 times, but the 3rd time i got the reinstall warning and the 4th time i was able to sign in... Weird.
Hahaa can't really see anything.
Damn, that's the only thing skype writes..
W/com.skype.cp( 3232): skypekit crashed during sign in, its beyond the normal process now

Exactly the same issue here too...a fix would be nice...
I had this problem and reinstalling or wiping skype data didn't help.
After wiping phone data problem was fixed.

does anyone else have this problem? I have the language pack enabled. I've tried it with and without personalized recognition. just doesn't seem to work. It happens when I'm online or offline randomly it seems.
If I'm using voice to text it will just show the microphone and just get to a picture of a microphone, never turns red, never says tap to talk.
same thing for me

was running fine last night but now its no longer working.
i did install some files today that may have broken it? (or server issue?) but i cant remember which programs i installed or i dont know how to reverse it.
let me know if you get a fix. i'd rather not format and reinstall everything again.
I've got a nexus 7 16GB, stock ROM, unlocked rooted, (was all this yesterday while it was working)

I noticed the same problem and read somewhere that you can download the "offline speech recognition" language pack to see some improvement. That didn't work for me but so far what seems to be working is changing the setting for "Choose input languages" by deselecting "Automatic" and selecting "English (US)" only. Not sure if this will fix the problem in the long term but for now it seems a lot more spiffy.

I've been having this same issue, but it only seems to happen when my phone is docked with Bluetooth on. I thought it possibly might be something to do with the phone trying to enable the Hands Free Profile for the voice input, but that's just a wild guess at this point. It comes right up when the phone is undocked/bluetooth off.
I also found this related issue:

Interesting also. I do use Bluetooth for a car - cell link. It will happen whether or not Bluetooth is connected, I know that much. As for if it only happens when Bluetooth is *enabled*, I don't know.

Solved!
Still no fix coming from Google, but at least one nice guy made a temp fix while they do it.
Look for "Voice Command" app on Google Play. Developer's name is IT-DEV-CROWD or code(dot)google(dot)com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42178#c37
It worked for me, after trying a lot of different configurations.
I'm running Liquid Smooth 2.5 and have just found that anytime I try and use voice search the microphone icon glows as if it is recognizing but as soon as it goes to search it just errors out with "Cannot reach Google at the moment". Has anyone else encountered this and are there any suggested fixes? I found some threads of making sure the device date and time is correct. It is. Interestingly I just tried on my rooted stock N7 and same thing... Yet I also just tried on my wife's Asus TF300t and it is working properly... I've checked all google account settings I can think of and can't see anything abnormal.
Thanks in advance for any help.

What color are you signal bars? Grey = No connection to Google, Blue = Connection to Google
Try clearing data for the Google Framework
Signal bars are blue both on wifi and on data with good signal. I just tried clearing Google Services Framework... No go still unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion however.

I will try refreshing Gapps when I get a chance but the thing that has me puzzled is why my stock rooted N7 is doing the same thing. I can't help but think it is an issue with my account or something. I haven't changed any settings recently that I know of. if it was just a Gapps issue I would have thought it would be isolated to just my SGS3. It isn't likely a location issue as my Wife's tablet is working fine.... Definitely confused...
Again thanks for any and all suggestions

And all of these are connected to your WiFi?
Remove and Re-add your google account on the affected devices.
Just to try I added my wife's account into Google now and tried voice searching with her account from my N7 and it didn't work either. It works from her tablet. I think this means it is not a ROM issue but rather a settings or similar issue. I will try a Gapps refresh later to see what happens. If anyone else has experienced this regardless of whether there is a fix I'd be curious to know. if others have I may submit it to Google. if it is just a weird issue for me I'd rather try working through it.

I've been having this problem too with an HTC One on a Sense-based custom ROM, and a HTC Evo 4G LTE both stock and custom. I've found better success uninstalling the updates to the Google Search app though it's still slower than it used to be. Some more people have talked about it here... http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...-google-moment-while-online-voice-typing.html
Doesn't seem like there's much of a solution or acknowledgment by Google that there's a problem.
I fixed the issue!! On a hunch I decided to delete my Google account from the phone completely. I then booted to recovery and cleared cache and dalvik. Rebooted and added my Google account back in... it is now working as it used to. If anyone else is having the issue I would recommend trying this and see if it helps you as well.
Almost forgot but I'd really like to thank everyone who contributed ideas and thoughts!
I just verified this fixed my N7 as well!
Thanks

My impression from searches on Google's forums is that this is a fairly prevalent problem. I don't know what causes it, but I've seen it on S4s, too. I just wanted to add that, anecdotally, I tried clearing the cache (though not dalvik) and removing the Google account, to no avail; however, I found a much simpler solution:
Settings, My Device, Language and input
Change Voice recognizer from Google to something else (in my case Samsung powered by Vlingo)
(Optional) Change Voice recognizer back to Google
This resolved the issue for me, please let me know if it works for others (I don't need a thumbs-up or anything, I'm honestly just curious if it's that simple and we're making it out to be more difficult.)

Whatever works, I guess!
This rom comes with the Google dialer by default which i find to be terrible, but besides the point the whole app has just stopped working. I want to reinstall the default HTC Phone app. I tried downloading an APK as well as the cousin People APK app that goes with it. I can access the dialer but I do not get a call screen. So i can't hangup or do anything unless I have some headphones plugged in then i can use the mic.
Any help on this matter would be appreciated, as i cannot do much with anything related to phone calls.
Just reinstall the Rom and make sure the Google Dialer is not selected in the aroma options.
Try set the Google Dialer as default dialer app on settings.

Just Dirty Flash the Rom. Dont wipe anything and reinstall
Pretty much what everyone else says. reinstall the rom "without wiping" or "dirty update" etc. Doesnt affact your data. I also had the issue your having, but it wasnt any kind of loss, I just wanted to know what the difference was and if it was any good. it worked breifly, and then it crashed constantly, so re-flashed rom with it not selected.

I did the reflash and all is well, thank you.
Since I see you are also on Leedroid would you mind telling me if you are having issues with GIFs? Mine all have a thick green line on them and they all play funky. Also the other thing that I can see wrong with the ROM is that if I use the Pixel assistant, OK google detection is greyed out, any ideas to fix either of these issues?
You must set the Google dialer as default in:
Settings ==> Apps ==> configure apps (from 3 vertical dot)

No using pixel assistant, so cant help there.
No issues with GIFs though. Anywhere in particular you're having the problem? I use the default HTC Gallery, and have had no issues. Also fine in apps like Facebook and Firefox.

I got it fixed, someone on reddit pointed out my firmware was still Marshmellow, Yikes! So after flashing the firmware to nougat and unlocking to US unlocked - also s-off. Everything works fine except the "ok google" detection. Still working on that.
Lately when I've been asking Google to set a reminder it ALWAYS says "sure, let me get some more information so I can help you with that" and shows the attached screen in my attachment
Hey Google, remind me at 3pm of my haircut. "sure, let me get some more information so I can help you with that"
Hey, Google remind me at 4pm to put on pants.. "sure, let me get some more information so I can help you with that"
Download the assistant app. I know it sounds dumb but try it. I had a similar issue when I had my pixel 3 the one that comes on it sux u need the full one from the playstore. a Few built in apps are like that and it's stupid to me.

I downloaded Google Assistant from the Play Store. When I say Hey Google it appears to still open the stock google assistant app and gives me the same result when asking it to do something.
If I manually open the Google assistant app that I downloaded as soon as I say Hey Google it just stops doing anything

That getting started comes up every time. I've had this phone for almost a year and used Google Assistant all of the time. It's just recently that this issue has come up.
I'm going to uninstall what I can related to Google Assistant, clear data of what I can't and sign out of everything and then sign back in and see if that helps
EDIT: uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing data from some Google services, signed of my Google account linked to assistance and verything seems to be fine now
Back to doing it again...fml
You could try booting to safe mode and see if the problem persists. If not, there's an app interfering. If the problem is still there in safe mode, then that's something glitchy about the Google setup.

I haven't tried the reboot into safe mode yet. Sometimes Google Assistant gets its crap together and works fine and then other times it needs more information. At this moment it's working again. Once it acts up I'm going to do the safe mode way and see if that works.
