Problems with wakelocks - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Hello.
I wish to ask you about a problem I saw last weeks. When I bought the phone, I had battery for two or three days, but now I have to charge it two times a day.
I installed Wakelock Detector, because, if I go to battery settings, I can see too much awake time. At the bottom, you can find some screenshots.
What should I do? I thought about a wipe, but I prefer that as a last option, because the lost data.

If you are rooted you might want to try something like Franco's Naptime or Servicely. If you aren't rooted a factory reset or flashing the full stock image is probably your best option. Android O seems to handle wakelocks better so you could also consider signing up for the beta program and seeing if O helps at all.

Problem seems to be google play services which can be lots of things like GPS, cell tower signal switching, rouge programs etc etc... You need root to fully analyze wake locks.
But also there is alarms section which in my case caused a little bit problems due to RCS messaging, but not in your scale. It might be a SMS program causing wakes because of your cell company's messaging protocols.
Any case you need root to really solve these problems.

I had this problem. I went in and disabled all of my Google apps. I then went back and re updated them in the Play store After that I did a restart and I haven't had one since. I also recommend not having a battery case as both the Mophie and ZeroLemon both caused huge wakelocks for me. Cheers. ?

[Q] Note 2 Gallery out of control

My At&t note 2 suddenly has very short battery life.
When I look at the battery stats it shows Gallery at 67% with screen only at 12%, I know this can't be right.
My battery won't come close to making it through the day. 2 days ago it was fine and would last for almost 2 days, not anymore.
I have restarted, stopped gallery, looked for offending apps but can't seem to find what is wrong.
Please help, I bought this thing because of the excellent battery, now it isn't lasting as long as my SGIII.
Here is a screen capture to give you an idea.

That is weird. Does the gallery still drain after you have "force stopped" it? I just checked my gallery and saw that at the bottom of the settings you could "search for nearby devices". I started this process and it told me that there were no devices nearby but it would continue searching in the background. How long it searches in the background is a mystery. It does not turn up in running processes?! Maybe yours is stuck in some sort of loop looking for devices? Have you tried to disable the gallery under setting/apps/all? Try that. If it works you will at least have a phone that lasts all day.
I hope you find a solution.

Google + is eating all my battery since 4.2.1 update...

Hey just thought I'd post this here and see if anyone else is having similar problems. I updated to the latest firmware a few weeks ago and ever since then my phone is dead after only 6ish hours with pretty average use in between. My battery stats are pointing towards the Google plus app as being the culprit so I force close it but it obviously keeps restarting.
Before the update I was able to go over a day before it would go completely flat.
Here's a screen grab of my battery stats, anyone have any ideas on what I can do to sort this out?

Oh and I forgot to mention, the phone is completely stock unrooted, locked boot loader etc.
Cheers.
Maybe try and uninstall updates to Google+ and reinstall. I had a problem after updating to 4.2.1 where Google+ kept syncing and it was solved this way.
Edit: Forgot to mention, my phone is stock with unlocked bootloader.
Cheers, I'll give that a go and see how it works out.
I just took my phone off the charger not long ago. Will post another screenshot when it's been on battery for a while, should give you a better idea of reasonable ratios.
Worst comes to worst, wipe everything (including SD) and start over. You could have some spooky ghost files and some cobwebs all up in your GNex!
My 4.2 Experience
i have been trying several 4.2 roms and with all of them i was getting the worst battery and also a very strange bug or at least i think it was a bug :silly: since i was using my phone normally and then all of the sudden the screen goes black but the phone still funtional it wasnt a SOD for example i was playing a game and then boom black and the sound vibration and everything all was keep on working i the end i decided to go back to CNA
Took another screenshot. I haven't used my phone so much today, but what you're seeing, OP, is definitely not normal.
I uninstalled Extended Controls. Battery stats for the app was ridiculous if the system app showed correctly. If I'm lucky I'll notice improved battery life now

Google maps draining my entire battery

Since about a week the battery life of my one X has become terrible. According to the battery usage screen, google maps seems to be draining all the juice. Im not actually using gm though, so something must be going on in the background.

Does this sound familiar to anyone and is there a solution to the problem?
Thanks in advance!

Just disable it

And how do I do that? I can close the process, but it will automatically go back on. Disabling the app itself is not something I know how to do and not really something I would like to do either.
Perhaps one other thing of importance: when I open maps (or now) it says location services are turned off, while they are not.

disable from settings app manager OR
get greenify from playstore and just greenify it
problem solved :good:
Also, where do you live at? Might be your not connected to the right sattelites for your region. You could go to play store and download faster fix and make sure your phone is reading off the right satellites.

Hey! I am back again.....looks like I have a lot problems......anyway,
I have a Massive battery prob....
So I brought my device badk to firmware after a lot of abusing of my device......but then,this happened (i changed to a different rom to stop the same battery problem but it wasnt any good) its not wakelock, like when the device is locked, no battery is wasted but when the screen is turned on and i do light activities like google translate, youtube, it drains SUPER FAST! Like for watching a 10 min video on youtube, it took away 3% of battery! I have also enabled power saving, have kind of a decent brightness and the wifi sleep thingybis set to never keep on. So I really need help with that.

Hmm, i guess you have checket others battery drain apps etc, i dont use facebook and messenger on mine..
You can try a full reset on it sometimes that helps. (Iknow it sucks to set it up again)

Massive wakelock from multiple apps (*alarm*)

Hey there, I wanted to show a new kind of battery drain that is happening to my 5X since two weeks every now and then (about 3 or 4 days).
(Nexus 5X with the latest PureNexus 6.0.1 on ElementalX kernel with HawkTail settings)
Apparently at some point, applications like Play Services, MoneyLover, Whatsapp, Tasker, App Google, Weather Timeline, Office Suite, Phone, Google Opnion Rewards, Zooper Widget start keeping alive the device with wakelocks called *alarm* or wake:[service for sync of the app] draining in an insane manner the battery (the first processor of the LITTLE chip is always at max speed).
The really odd thing is this Bluetooth graph in BetterBatteryStats:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Apparently, even if it's off, the bluetooth keep switching on and off. But the thing is that in every wakelock app I cannot find anything anormal related to the bluetooth (of course, it's off) which led me to think that maybe the graph is measuring something else.
Someone could say that it's fault of some app or even of the Play Services, but I tested even with every Google sync service disabled and nothing changed: the drain continued.
Looks like something the cause is really something system-wide because it's causing A LOT of apps misbehaving in this peculiar way.
I tried using the Battey Historian Tool, but I didn't manage to extrapolate useful information. The misbehaviour seems to stop after a reboot and after it recharged completely. Even disabling wifi and data gave no effect.
Here some screenshots of stats:
In summary, I could really use an hand in diagnosing what the hell is happening here because I am not understanding anything and I saw my fair share of wakelock problems, but nothing like this one. I'd like to undestand something before trying a factory reset.
