Whatsapp constantly crashing since v2.17.254

Hello,
I'm running the latest LineageOS 14.1 on my Xperia Z3.
Since it's last update about 2 days ago to v2.17.254, WhatsApp crashes everytime I try to open it. It shows the usual info screen about possibly not supporting custom ROMs and after accepting that it crashes instantly.
Besides the updates, I made no changes to any software or settings whatsoever for more than a week. WhatsApp always worked flawlessly until now.
I already tried to uninstall -> reboot to recovery -> clear cache/dalvik cache -> reboot -> fresh install from playstore -----> instant crash again
Does anyone here have an idea what causes this problem and how to solve it?
Solved.
Problem was caused due to a clash with a coexisting substratum theme. Theme seems to only support whatsapp up to v2.17.223. Either delete theme and wait for it to support new version or downgrade app to .223
Thread solved, can be closed.

Having continuous reboots while installing some of the apps

When installing some of the apps like IFTTT,adapticons and greenify(the most imp. app for this phone ) the phone starts rebooting and stuck on the boot image the only solution i could find is either formatting phone or deleting app data from file manager with the help of TWRP.The phone starts rebooting when the app just finished downloading from play store and starts installing. And i try to install the same apps from external source it happens again but the difference is only that this time a message prompt arrives and says play store stopped working. It happens in all the ROMS. I have tried to clear the whole internal storage(excluding recovery, obviously ) but the issue doesn't get fixed...
What can i do to solve this problem?
did you manage to solve it?

No i wasnt able to fix it.
and if u fix it then let me know how.!!
The solution
The only Marshmallow Rom without this issue is AOSP rom, but If you still wanna use other 6.0 Rom you will have to use older version of apps which are causing bootloops.
Also Nougat Rom's don't have this problem but I don't find them stable enough for daily use.

This happens for the "Android System Webview" apk. To solve this issue, here's a step by step guide:
1. Download Android System Webview by Google. (Not from play store. Must be downloaded as an APK)
2. Delete Current Webview with a root browser. (Es file explorer recommended. Located in system/apps/webview.)
3. Reboot device.
4. Now Install the new webview you downloaded.
Problem solved.
Tested and working successfully. Android 5.0.2 , 5.1, 6.0 All ROM with this issue is.... fixed with this method. Tested on all ROMs.
Enjoy.

The webview implements a code into the system to properly show the app package to system UI. But the default Android System Webview which comes with the system is kinda bugged. It conflicts with some apps package. This conflict mess up the system... crashing the UI, then the whole system itself. So the device reboots and/or gets stuck in bootloop. Removing the preinstalled webview will solve the issue. I have posted the step by step guide above.

S4 mini, after update of webview and other, rebooting at loop

I can't find anything about webview being the cause, what are you referring to?
There are a number of apps that were built with dev tool recently that caused bootloop if phones, but webview wasn't one as far as I remember . You can get out of bootloop reportedly by using TWRP to delete the files related to those apps in data/app & data/data folders. Might work for webview also?
Might also be worth trying booting up in safe mode if it's a 3rd party app that's the real cause.
Yes a TWRP "nandroid" backup backs up data… but NOT media like photos etc

Help needed for crash-bootloop, logcat included

While updating/installing apps from the google playstore, the phone will crash and bootloop, and requires a full reinstall to get it working normally. I've attached 2 logcat files for both roms which give the same problem - Mokee5.1, CM13 on a clean installation with pico gapps and manually selecting several apps to install. One other custom rom also gave the same problem so I didn't bother trying any other custom roms. Reverting back to stock MIUIv8 gave no issues.
CM13 used to be mostly problem free until a few months ago I think when the update/install issue started happening. The playstore auto update is normally kept disabled on my phone so I'm unaware about when the problem really started happening.
Edit-
It doesn't seem to be happening anymore from a short test after flashing my CM13 backup but I've moved on to LO14.1
It may have something to do with some other complaints that people are having. It looks like some issue with Cynogenmod since Sept/Oct 2017 which needs some patching.

Can confirm the issue with CM13 on my Galaxy S3. Unfortunately, I do not know a solution. Just stick to older app versions.

Help with solving "optimizing app 1 of 1" - 10 minutes to boot !

Hi all
I have a locked TWN v20e H815. No root and no TWRP for backups.
This week I started getting the "optimizing app 1 of 1" message whenever I restart my phone. Boot time is about 10 minutes !
Here's what I've done so far to debug this:
Removed all the apps that were updated this week - did not help
Removed new apps installed this week - did not solve the issue
rebooted to safe mode - no change
From #3 I understand the problem is not with an external app.
I'm afraid I need to do a factory reset to solve this. Anything else I can do to debug before I take such a drastic measure ?
thanks,
popo
Anyone ?
I have the same problem and a did factory reset but didn't resolve problem. I have 2 apps - 20 minutes to boot.
Wow !
Sad to hear this. In that case maybe you should load an official rom instead.
I had the same issue....The app causing my problems was Zedge. Once I uninstalled it, my problem was solved.

Not much you can do except to factory reset it.
Is there any other app like Zedge that could be causing this? I removed Zedge but the problem returned.
My fitness pal also causes that
