Was interested in getting this. I want something that plugs into the 12v that will charge the phone while in the cradle, but i'm not holding my breath for anything like that, so this will have to do. Any thoughts on this? Do I need to worry about the phone falling out?
Thanks!
T-Mobile already sells something similar to this at their stores. I've never used one, but I imagine they work pretty well.
I have the one that is sold at T-Mobile and it works great. It is very similar to the one you linked. I have been using it for a few weeks now and my phone has yet to fall out. I used it both with my slide and an HD2 before that. the only downside to the T-Mobile is its a little expensive at $25. If you want some pics of it let me know and I will post a few for ya!
I can say that the MyTouch Car Mount is well worth the extra money. I have been through 3 generic Car Mounts and have not been very satisfied (one is permanently imbedded in to my car's air conditioner).

Just a tip, I highly discourage people from using those one that clip into air vents, especially if you live in warmer and humid areas. If you have your phone getting blasted by cold air while your driving, and then get out into warm humid environments, you'll get condensation all over that thing internally... Just my opinion

That happened to my dad's phone when we were on vacation in florida when I was a kid. The car we rented had a little ledge right below the ac vent and he kept it there the entire trip
As for the Tmo car dock, I think that's what I'll probably go with. After shipping is said and done, I'll end up paying more anyways for the one online, so I might as well get one directly from Tmo.
Thanks guys!
I have one very similar on my windshield in my tow truck, one in my 5th wheel truck, and one in my honda. The model I have, the cellphone cradle spins 360•deg and locks. Their awesome, but only when the cradle rests on your dash, or else it bounces like crazy.

I use one of those (vent mounted tho).
As for the charger, if you have like a ipod charger that requires you to use the usb cable, just go out and buy a cheap micro usb cable and you're good to go.
My charger is a combo fm transmitter and usb charger, so I put my phone on the cradle, plug it in the charger and the fm transmitter and driving has never been so smooth. phone, music, navigation and all the other audio sounds coming thru my car speakers. (side note: if you use this set up and use genius button, it wont work when you have the 3.5mm jack plugged in)

I prefer velcro.
Did any of you guys who already received your phone pick up the car dock? It looks pretty nice and I love using a dock for nav and using w/bt kit on longer drives. AT&T carries the official Moto Atrix car dock and I was hoping for a review if anyone has used it.

Well from all of the videos that I have seen of it. It truly looks like a worth while side purchase. It charges your phone and auto launches the map. Thats enough for me to be sold.
I picked the car dock up when I got my phone this morning. It's really nice. As soon as it docks it comes up with a custom driver's view. You can add apps and contacts which is sweet. Nav works great and the voice control worked really well. I tapped it and told it to send a text with the content and it was flawless. I only had to press a large send button. I'm gonna like it.
Oh, I'm sure everyone probably knows but it does have power and will charge your phone while docked.
well those geniuses at AT&T said this doesn't exist when i picked up my phone this morning. I guess i'll be trying another store until i can get ahold of one. They only had the laptop and webtop docks there.
Didn't pay attn to it when asked if I wanted it at check out. Should have checked it out. But if no bootloAder in 30 days. This is going back anyway

I really like this car mount. It has integrated audio out that works perfectly with my Aux connection. I just wish I could adjust the volume before the sound hits my car audio system. I've already turned up the media volume on the phone itself, but I still need to crank up the volume on the car audio and it causes hissing sounds when I accelerate.
I wanted to get it but it doesn't get held in very well with the feather case so I passes

Did you try it with the insert that comes with it? The phone without a case is held in very firmly so a feather case should make it a tighter fit. Without the insert you can use a regular case.
i ordered one with the laptop dock and phone, but AT&T still hasnt shipped the car dock.

yeah i tried without the insert. on the feather case, the usb plugs in on the bottom, but the top clip part doesnt extend far enough out to grip the edge anymore.
with the speck case which i also tried, it was too thick to even allow the USB to fit.
I bought the dock in-store today, and I must say it is very nice. There is an insert to use or not use depending on if you have a case on your phone, which is a great idea. The phone fits easily, and the car app loads extremely quick. It is wonderful you can move around the quick load apps, and the extra cables that plugin to your stereo if needed was a nice bonus. I already added shortcuts for Google nav, and will add other useful car apps as well. It is a worthy purchase if you like having a GPS with you or a dock while you play music in your car.
Can someone help me verify that the cam corder can be activated while in car dock and that the dock does not block the view?
Would love to be able to use the phone as a car camcorder on tracks or canyons Hack, we might be able to do something like the contour gps

I don't have to do anything special to get the car app to pop up right? Because when I plug mine in, it does nothing. The audio doesn't even go through the cable.
I have the car dock as well, works flawlessly with the body glove case.

Bought the car dock so I would force myself to stop from texting and driving. But my scion XB dash is to far to even use it safely.
How about with an OtterBox
I like to use an OtterBox on my devices.
Is there any chance the Car Dock will work with an OtterBox?
If not, are these any cases that will work with the car dock?
Same question for the MultiMedia dock, but I will ask in another thread too.

You have to apply power to the USB port for it to start. Once you apply power, you can remove it and the phone will stay in dock mode till you pull it out.
EDIT: Which is awesome cause motorola didn't give you a DC/USB converter. I had one already that I used.
lol no. otterbox is way to big to use with any dock. the only case i know that works with the car dock is the body glove. the feather might work too but its too thin to be considered a case(might as well get an invisashield.
is there any docking for android phones (just like those numerous one for iphone) which i can use it as speakers and charger and sync, etc.
a staff in an electronic shop told far that so far only Phillips has it, and that it use bluetooth (not the connector just in iPhone's case) to connect the phone to the docking to use as speaker.
I just got two docks for my Skyrocket in (bought off of ebay).
They're intent is to just hold/charge the phone though.
I haven't seen any docks that have built in speakers like you're talking about (and I'd been looking for docks for my phone for quite some time).
Not that I would have any use for such a thing, but it sounds like a great idea that would benefit many people.
Gook luck on your search!
The one i am referring to is this one : http://www.usa.philips.com/c/audio-system/fidelio-for-android-as111_37/prd/en/
however, i hope i could find one which could connect to the speakers by usb instead of bluetooth.
Hi,
I'm interested in your ways to store your phone at work or at home -- what kind of phone holders do you use? Right now my phone is lying on my desktop, so I'm looking for a good alternative.
I don't really like docking stations because I don't want to charge my phone all over the day. Or is there a docking station where I can store the phone without charching it?
Regards,
Aryana
lots of options out there, I personally use this awesome little guy, its called: spiderpodium

I think that the first one have nice minimalistic look and should be good.
Docking stations exist mostly because they give you possibility to use your device without worrying about battery drain. But when you don't want to charge your phone while docking (I don't know why though) during the day you can simply use your dock unplugged, and plug it in only for the night

You dont need to have the docking station on charge, just pull the wire out during the day and then back in when you need charge.
I brought a docking station of ebay. Works well with stock roms.

Why not just dedicate a specific spot on your desk for it?
Use an old mousepad like the one gent posted. Trim it so it's just larger than the Note and bam.
Cheap dedicated spot for the Note.
And to answer the initial question, my Note is in one of 3 places during the day:
At the computer, it's on the desk.
Out and about, it's in my front right pocket.
At work, it's in my rear left pocket.
I use an old Car cradle.
Mind you it is easier for me as I have a glass desk
I use the original note dock
My note never leave's my hand. So I always know its safe and always know where it is...

Hi!
i bought a new GS2 two weeks ago and i bought also the original docking station from samsung.
It is very robust, has the volume button easy available in the same side where there is the power button and it increase the loudspeaker volume...
cons: it allows only to charge it...
no usb data is possible to transfer with it...
it is quite bad because i was wondering to use a dock with the mhlp hdmi video converter... -.-
i will consider a cradle with the two usb un the back: power and data
I am also searching for an docking station, all i found till now looked like crap. What docking stations are you using (pls with pictures).
