Naked Look - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Accessories

For most of us, the holy grail would be to protect our shiny and expensive new toys without spoiling the looks. Some swear that going naked is the only way, eschewing protection for aesthetics, while others insist on building portable nuclear bunkers around their devices.
My solution is below.Glass protector and transparent case, in my opinion it looks 99% as good as a naked S8+.
The Zoto case is quite tight and needs precise alignment of the glass protector, I also had to stretch the corners slightly by placing it in hot water and then pulling at the corners. The Olixar case fits without any adjustments, but I found it a bit loose.

I don't like TPU cases. They feel sticky, retain oils, and quickly turn yellow.
A well made leather case (not wallet) is my preference. Feels great in the hand, develops a cool patina, and won't look gross if a little moisture gets trapped behind it.

There is that, but a little wipe and a dunk in soapy water now and again.

Im using a Spigen tough armor. Has a few scuff marks from drops and took off case recently and no damage what so ever. Must admit phone looks beautiful and feels great naked.
But its hard not puting my case back on for protection.

One thing is the look, but the feel is something else. After having the case on for two weeks, then take it out and use your phone without case and feel the difference. It's such a luxurious feeling you don't get with a case on

Help me choose a SGS2 case+protector

Hi guys,
When I look at the forum, it's like advertisements of new products which doesn't tell me a lot. So can you please recommend me:
A case that:
doesn't require me to open some part to access the screen
protects the phone well against drops
is comfortable to hold and touch (my fingers won't get itchy etc.)
And a screen protector that:
protects without distorting the image quality and responsiveness of the screen
doesn't leave bubbles inside (I hate the bubbles) or fingerprints outside
is a little slippery so it won't be a hard job for me to move fingers on the screen
THANKS IN ADVANCE FELLAS!
There is a hybrid case, just search hybrid case sgs2 in amazon,
I'm perfectly happy with that.
Downsides:
- not so slim anymore
- more weight
But my phone feels safe
And I'd suggest the Mumbi-screen protectors,
but you'll still some have fingerprints.
But once applied right (not easy btw )
they fit perfectly
Muta
you can look at the case-mate tough or the otterbox commuter, they both rock.
i bought the case-mate a few days ago, waiting untill it arrives
I also recommend the cases that other posters have, for a screen protector look no further than this.

Ive just recieved a Zenus Air Jacket looks sleek and smart, they do a range of colours, and it comes with a screen protector too, although i tried to fit mine and some dust came out of nowhere and went onto my screen so i had to bin it , hopefully the gorilla glass will protect instead
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/zenus-skin-air-jacket-series-for-samsung-galaxy-s2-i9100-white-p29786.htm
I have a transparent Casemate Barely There.
It's a bit rigid but I think is the thinnest case on sale.
The transparent one gives to the phone a nice shiny look.

I bought a hardcase, but i had the problem with the echo voice !
i heard my own voice twice !
is the problem fixed now?
In my personal opinion i like otterbox for SGS2, fits well, it has a metal cover for back side and plastic covers for usb port and earphones, i have one.

Personally, I bought a pack screen protector + white case on ebay.
You can search on ebay :
LOT 7en1 Housse Etui Coque Rigide/FILMS Protecteur Pour Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100
sold by citephone
I just tried different case.
I prefer hard cover.
I try
1) Phoenix tough case: i broke upper corner, rubber come out after a bit of time
Vote: 3/10
Price around 15€
2) Samsung Original Mesh Vent case: Too sensitive and since have hole the dust come in and leave and put it many times to clean i broke the upper corner. In any case it offer a very low protection
Vote 5.5/10
Price around 18€
3)Tpu soft cover gel from ebay: it is not so soft but offer a better protection than other but for it's material attire too many dust on the border. It offer a good grip
Price 5€
Vote 6.5/10 (for now)
At end i buy also Case-Mate Tough that have 2 layer protection but it has not arrived.
Arrived
Perfect case optimal protection and grip. 2 thing. Inside silicon collect dust and dont put while phone is on because it press power button to reboot
Incipio NGP case. Martin Fields screen protector.
A lot of people are recommending products that does not stand out. I prefer to make my phone special so it stands out when I take it out. I like sleek , high tech looking things and thats what this setup is about:
I am currently using metal black battery cover:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263780
with real aluminum black phone case: (see akiba slider or SZLF slider)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263780
(SZLF or china made version on ebay for $30, search i9100 metal case)
with ultra optics
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263780
result is a Sleek phone with a premium metal feel to it. The ultra optics cancels out fingerprints while maintaining good optical clarity. (you may need to clean it still every 1 week or so like any protector)
If you are daring, remove the case and just replace the housing for 15$ on ebay every time it gets too scratched.

I got the Incipio NGP case as well and it is pretty sweet--has a great feel and is thin, although the back is a little bit too smooth but I still like it.
That is a good idea on the housing. I might try a white housing.
What is your opinion on a screen protector? I don't like how it adds a layer and changes the feel--and besides, the SGS2 has gorilla glass.

Ballistic SG Maxx Review

Ballistic SG Maxx Review for the Nexus 5
Introduction:
Since I've seen many questions on the Ballistic SG Maxx (a.k.a. Tough Jacket Maxx), I decided to make a review regarding my input on this nifty case. To start things off, I’d like to mention that this case if one of the most expensive cases out there. It’s usually around 28 USD but it’s definitely worth the money considering that the case will protect your $350+ investment.
Design:
The Ballistic SG Maxx features a dual layer design with a built-in screen protector and a belt clip. The inner piece is made of silicon; a thick, stretchy material. (Be aware that the silicon is not to be stretched too extensively. Doing so will result in a warped product.) The outer layer is plastic. Aesthetically, the design looks rather bulky, but the intention of the company was to design a bulky case capable of resisting drops. In terms of taking on and taking off the case, I find it effortless. The outer layer comes off with slight pressure and the silicon layer slips on and off with ease. The belt clip is plastic. It feels cheap, but after taking out for a spin, I found it to be actually pretty sturdy.
Feel:
The case obviously adds a lot of volume to the phone. The case is still usable in one hand and I can still reach all the icons on the other side of the screen without the assistance of the other hand, not to mention my hands are small. The outer plastic layer feels nice in the hand and gives the phone a good grip. On the back of the plastic is a rubbery back plate. The back plate helps with the traction of the phone. The button cutouts are amazing. They are easy to press, but are not too sensitive at the same time.
Dust:
This case is a lint magnet. The silicon attracts dust easily. The speaker grills are susceptible to dust. Luckily, the charging port and the headphone jack have flaps that cover the internals of the phone. Be aware dust can still seep through the cracks of the flaps.
Camera: The case is thick, but it does not obstruct the camera’s field of view neither does it block the camera’s flash.
Screen Protector:
Like many, I bought the case because of the built-in screen protector. I was appalled by the fact that I wouldn't have to purchase an additional screen protector since the case already supplied me with one. Honestly, the screen protector that Ballistic supplies the SG Maxx with is disappointing. There’s a noticeable gap between the phone and the glass screen when you apply it, which invites dust to loiter on the inside of the screen protector. It’s also extremely thick. The touch screen’s sensitivity goes down when the screen protector is applied. The edges of the protector are rigid and can cut you if you’re not careful with it. You’ll be better off using a different company’s screen protector. Ballistic’s screen protector is low quality and is not on par with other brand’s screen protectors. The built-in screen protector may look appealing at the first glance, but when using it, it is very inconvenient.
Verdict:
Overall, this is a good case for those who seek maximum protection. I've dropped my phone twice; once at 2 ft and once at 4 ft and my phone took no damage. If you never drop your phone or has no concern in shielding your device, this case is simply not for you.
Pros:
- Good drop protection
- Precise cutouts
- Fits the Nexus 5 well
- Comes with a belt clip
Cons:
- Can be costly
- Built-in screen protector is disappointing
- Lint magnet
- Adds a lot of bulk to the phone
Images are attached to the post. Thanks for reading!
I too have this case and find the build quality superior to otterbox. I also like the idea of the soft part being on the phone followed by a hard case protecting the outside as opposed to vice versa on the OtterBox. I will say that I may not purchase another case from them though because after buying my SG Maxx it's as if ballistic forgot they ever made them after the name change.
All in all- like I said I totally agree it's a good case, but if otterbox stops being scared of nexus devices then I would probably go that route due to the ridiculously awesome warranty (makes you feel like your money was better spent.)
http://i.imgur.com/V57GksT.jpg
Good review. I have one as well. My brother's screen still cracked after a fall but he had the normal version, not the MAXX. I have dropped mine from 3 ft, no issue. I ordered a new screen protector, felt better but not optimal and I'm not using it, as you have to double tap towards the top.
Thanks for the awesome review. I been rocking this same case for about a 2 weeks now. Mine is the fully black version that doesn't have a belt clip on it. I used to be an Otterbox fan, then I switched over to Diztronic for my other phones. Decided to pick this up with 2 discounts and have loved it since, by far one of the best cases I have owned yet as far as build quality goes.
Swyped from my LG Nexus 5 using XDA premium.
Nice review, thanks!
One remark: I think you're missing the point of the screen protector that comes with this case. It's really thick because it's meant to protect more than just scratches, it will(or should) protect your screen against more than just keys or coins in your pocket, for example if you drop it and lands face-down on an object.
I don't think you should consider this case as a 'daily driver', but more of a case you put on when you hiking or something, which is exactly what I'm considering it for
The built in screen protector is NOT built in. You can remove it whenever you want. It is really nice. Super strong. It is not meant for daily use. I work construction and it is perfect for me.
I've dropped this phone from a distance than would of ****ed this phone up. (around 2 stories high onto asphalt) Not a single scratch on phone or case.
I use this one for work and http://www.spigen.com/nexus-5-case-ultra-hybrid.html for home./

Case reviews: Rhinoshield CrashGuard & SolidSuit, Zeking Ultra Slim, Crave Slim Guard

Case reviews: Rhinoshield CrashGuard & SolidSuit, Zeking Ultra Slim, Crave Slim Guard
i've used a number of cases that you can easily purchase from amazon before including the spigen tough armor, spigen neo hybrid, spigen crystal shell, ringke fusion and the rhinoshield crashguard. I think the 2 most important aspects of a good phone case is reinforced corner protection and elevated front edge to protect the screen. When I got the pixel 2 XL, I started looking for a slim yet protective case and I ended up trying the 4 cases below. I used each case about 1-2 weeks and thought I'd share my thoughts. I did receive the Rhinoshield cases from the company for free but they are not involved with my write up in any way, shape or form.
The photos attached are in accordance to the order of which the cases are reviewed.
Rhinoshield CrashGuard bumper case:
This was my favorite case when I had my galaxy s7 and when I moved on to the LG G5 then G6, I was disappointed to find out that they don't make the CrashGuard for them.
From my experience using this case with the galaxy s7 (which I had for about a year before it was stolen...), this case simply works. I am not the best when it comes to handling my phone therefore it gets dropped a lot; this case really does the job well when it comes to impact protection while being minimalistic. During the past 2 weeks with the case, I've dropped my pixel 2 a few times from different heights, mostly from standing height and some from when I get out of the car and the case has been effective. According to Rhinoshield, their cases have a 11.5 ft impact resistance rating which supposedly far exceeds the " US MILITARY DROP TEST STANDARD".
Many others have commented on how slippery this case is. Well, it is and that's because Rhinoshield now coats the cases to make them more stain resistant. For me, personally, I don't mind as I find it easier to slide in and out of my pockets.
Some physical changes I've noticed is that the case fits A LOT more snug to the point where it is quite difficult for me to take the phone out of the case. That's an inconvenience for me as I fly a drone here and there and in order for the phone to fit into the remote controller I have to take the case off. Now I may have to buy a separate phone holder for the remote controller. Another change that's worth pointing out is that in my old s7 case, the raised lip on the back of the case was more pronounced at the corners and the top and bottom edges. This gave me more of a piece of mind since it is a bumper case and the back of the phone is exposed. However, it seems like they have eliminated that from their design of the new cases and I wish they kept that. Lastly, now you can change up the color of the power button but the colored buttons have to be purchased separately. The power button is very responsive but the volume rocker you'd have to press a little bit harder.
Other non-noticeable changes they've made since I had their case for the s7 is they now use a different material (fancy name 'ShockSpread Material') for their cases which is suppose to be lighter, thinner but just as protective and durable.
The case is friendly with their screen protectors, as well with the Sparin TPU screen protector that I got from amazon. In terms of skin, it will not work with the Dbrand precision fit skin but fine with standard fit. However, it will leave an indent on the standard fit skin as shown in photos.
Lastly, if you happen to have a Feiyu tech SPG-c gimbal, with the heaviest counterweights the phone with this case just barely works.
Rhinoshield SolidSuit
Overall, very similar to the CrashGuard bumper case.
I'll highlight the differences:
- compatible with the RhinoShield add-on lens
- of course, heavier and bulkier (heaviest of the 4)
- feels very solid because of the overall construction, as well the back is protected
- most of the finishing is the same as the CrashGuard, however the back of mine has the carbon fiber finishing which I guess made it less slippery
- volume rocker is much more responsive than the CrashGuard
- did not work at all with the Feiyu tech SPG-c gimbal
Zeking ultra slim TPU case from amazon canada
In my opinion, very good case. For less than $10, you get padded corner protection plus raised front edge without much added bulkiness; this is just as good as cases such as ones from Spigen or Ringke but for 1/3 or 1/2 the price.
It is made of TPU and I haven't had the case long enough to speak about yellow-ing, but the TPU feels decent not cheap. On the inside of the back of the case, there are these microdots and I can't understand their purpose. You can actually feel them when you brush you finger across. The side buttons are responsive, clicky. A really thoughtful and unique design is that along the sides of the case the TPU's texture is different and it allows for better grip (almost like there's a very smooth sandpaper strip). The advantage of this case in comparison to the two Rhinoshield cases above is that it does feel slimmer in hand.
When it comes to impact protection, it doesn't have that "over 11 ft of impact protection" that's marketed for the Rhinoshield cases, however the few times I dropped the phone in this case it was completely fine.
I did try to use this case with the Dbrand 'precise fit' skin. It will not work well with the skin if you have the tendency to take your phone in and out of the case. As i took my phone out, it lifted the skin that goes around the the corner on the side of the phone. On the other hand, the 'standard fit' skin did just fine. In terms of screen protectors, it is compatible with the Sparin TPU screen protector as well as the protectors from Rhinoshield.
Similar to the Rhinoshield CrashGuard, this barely worked with my Feiyu Tech SPG-c gimbal.
Crave Slim Guard from amazon canada
This case is very similar to the Ringke Fusion in a sense that both have the TPU bumper that goes around the case, and the clear polycarbonate back. This case, however, has a very pronounced elevated front lip to the point where it almost feels like the phone is sunken in inside the case. It's very good if you're looking for extra raised front protection, however when you're swiping left or right on the screen you will feel the edge more so than the other cases. It may help if the company just round off the raised edges a little bit more. A thoughtful part of their design is that they raised the back corners a tiny bit; my guess is they are there to raise the back a little bit so when you sit the phone on a flat surface it doesn't scratch up the polycarbonate back. All the buttons super responsive and clicky; probably the best buttons of the 4 cases. The phone does feel pretty slim in this case and I think even slimmer than the Zeking TPU case. I don't remember dropping my phone while using this case, but based on its construction it should do just as good as the Ringke Fusion case but definitely not as good as the other 3 cases above.
Overall I think this case is just as good as the Ringke Fusion if not better protection because of the pronounced elevated front edge. Keep in mind, from my experience using these cases with a polycarbonate back they will get scratched up over time and you will see more finger print smudges.
When it comes to compatibility with skin and screen protectors, it is the same as above.
Similar to the Rhinoshield CrashGuard and ZeKing ultra slim, this barely worked with the Feiyu Tech SPG-c gimbal.
Long review but hope this helps. I will start another post for my screen protectors review as well as a review of the add-on lens from RhinoShield.
Nice reviews! Kudos
My fav is the Zeking ultra slim TPU!

The yellow power button is from rhinoshield. you can purchase the colored buttons separately on their site and it's compatible with their cases.
Thanks for your detailed review. One thing is that I tried Ringke Fusion and Crave Slim Guard; I think Ringke Fusion does provide a bit more of FRONT lip, doesn't it?

I don't have the exact measurements and my experience with the ringke fusion is with the lg g6 case. To me it seems like the crave slim guard has a slightly more raised front lip than the ringke fusion but then i am not comparing apple to apple.
Update:
I stuck with my RhinoShield Crashguard and it has protected my phone... extremely well. I have lost count how many times I've dropped it face down, down the stairs, and more.... yep, a bit clumsy with phones.
I stayed at this villa in Bali, and it literally tumbled down these stairs from top to bottom..and my phone remains immaculate. (except when i was in Bali I decided to use it briefly without the case..and of course I dropped it..... )
Included photos of the case with the worst scratches and also...the staircase where it literally bounced its way down...

Naked or case

I have 3 casses for my note 10+ 5g otter box clear one that's quite thick some random made black one that has lines but feels wieard at the edge of the screen and a ellesnow flip case I been thinking of not using any of the casses at all if I can I'd deffo get the gear 4 oxford flip case and the tech21 evo if had those casses for the note 8 s8 s8+ and s9+
Well, it all depends on how you handle your device and what activities you get involved into, I usually get an assortment of various type of cases, from really thin and light just to avoid scratches, to rugged ones, otterbox-style, even battery cases for traveling , but Never caseless
Slim, transparent cases all the way. It protects the phone from scratches and keeps its elegant appearance.
I really like the samsung led view flip cover.
it adds some protection, isn't that thick and the look and feeling ist great. also all cutouts are at the right place.

The otto box one I have is clear but I noticed with clear ones they can **** up the photo with flash the tech21 evo and the gear 4 oxford they are flip casses that offer good protection iv not gone caseless dont think I will as it is slippy lol
These are the 3 note 10+ casses I have clear one otto box the left one is ellesnow and some random one
Dbran skin, robot, and occasional samsung leather cover. Whitestone dome on
Oryginal clear case from Samsung is preaty Good!
For earlier Note"s I used the Led flip cover. As after time the wiring gets damaged, this time I bought Samsung's original clear flip cover.
Nice slim cover and clear window provides more info than Led cover.
Funny enough I tried the old htc dot view never tried samsung led one I may have to get it
Sleep naked, out and about in cases
Naked all the way, as have all my other Note devices.
My Note 8 was like new when I sold it after getting the 10+ and never had a case on it. I always ensure to never put anything in my phone pocket and always careful if I lay it on a desk or anything.
Just doesn't feel as 'Special' with a case on.
Launch day Note 10+ still as pristine as the day I bought it without a case.
Case all the way.
Currently have spigen neo hybrid, ghostek covert and a cheap $5 rubbery one I despise.
My favorite case continues to be the pitaka case. Slim, durable (case is made of body armor) and doesn't add much difference to the feel other then grip. There's an entire forum on this very thing however. Just go to the cases, apps area.

I just ordered the Ghostek but won't be getting it until tomorrow. How do you like it? I just want to make sure it has enough protection on the sides to prevent the screen from cracking.
This thing is too expensive and pretty for me to not be running a case. I've got a Spigen Liquid Crystal (just a TPU sleeve, really) for light duty, everyday stuff because it fits in my car mount and a Neo Hybrid FC for heavier duty stuff (gym, concerts, going out drinking). The Liquid Crystal is okay for most of the back of the phone but has NO bump to protect the screen - just keeps the smudges and scratches off that nice shiny back!
Naked all the way +1.
I never use case on any of my cellphone and never had I dropped any of them.

I second that.
I bought it two months ago and seems unbreakable.
I dislike the finish though, too much rough edges, and they should have been a bit more covering at the sides since no screen protector goes there.
I think a slim case do the job which also should be transparent like I got in my Note 10 plus box and using it I even don't have applied any screen protection on it as I m using factory fixed screen protector and it amazingly great until now .

Is the lip of the spigen tough armor equal on all 4 sides? or does it dip like most others? I guess because of the curved sides it has to dip? Hybrids and Caseology both are not raised up at the sides.

It's raised on the top and bottom but not on the sides. But still plenty of clearance when you put your phone face down on a flat surface with a glass screen protector on it.

Is the lip of the spigen tough armor equal on all 4 sides? or does it dip like most others? I guess because of the curved sides it has to dip? Hybrids and Caseology both are not raised up at the sides.

The sides are raised but the top and bottom have a slight higher lip.
Super slim case that means phone feels great in hand like there is no case fitted
X-level Google Pixel 6 Pro Case,... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09F2VF65V?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The official overpriced piece of junk from Google. Thought it'd be similar in quality to the fabric case I had on my 4XL. Nope - it's no better than a $10 case from Amazon. Too lazy to return it.
I'm using the official case, which looks great but is very slippery. I'm gonna look for something with better grip.

I love the later case but I cracked my pixel 4xl screen because of the case. How's the edge protection?

You cracked it because of a fall in the case? I actually did that with my 4 XL in a Latercase but that's my fault cause it was on my lap. Edge protection is the same. It's only as thick/thin as the case is and the top, bottom, and buttons are open. It's more of an increase grip, scratch, and drop to a rug/carpeted area protection type of case for me.
Goodbye case, hello Dbrand.

very sharp looking!
I'm really liking my rhinoshield solidsuit. Looks and feels good.
And it gives me some confidence when my old hands inevitably drop this beauty.
Lmao!!
I ordered both the Spigen Tough Armor and the CYRILL Stone. The Tough undoubtedly offers better protection (it's better padded and provides better protection around the edges of the screen), but, understandably, it's a lot bulkier. It makes an already big phone feel enormous. The Cyrill is much sleeker, so that's what I'm using daily. The phone just feels a lot better in the hand with the Cyrill than with the Tough Armor. Additionally, the edges of the Cyrill don't rise as high along the sides of the screen. This is bad because it doesn't offer as much protection for the screen, but it's good because it provides a much nicer experience when swiping/scrolling on the edges. The buttons on the Cyrill are also better. All of the buttons on the Tough Armor are raised to the same level in an almost unbroken line, making hard to find them by touch.
I may swap the out for the when I'm doing something that risks the phone more than usual, but I think the Cyrill is probably fine for daily use.
In case folks haven't seen it, Android Police has a nice rundown of some their favorite cases for the P6Pro:

I happened to have a bellroy voucher so ended up with their official leather case . Really happy actually, feels good, gives good grip, offers more protection than I thought with a good lip around the screen. Lovely soft inside , side buttons are really good .
Caseology Parallax
Really wish Pitaka would make one like they did for the Pixel 3/4 series, https://www.ipitaka.com/collections/magez-case-for-google-pixel-4. I asked and they said no.
