Can anyone help me, I'm on DP3 but I still don't have the new icon on my Pixel XL. Considering I've just had this device brand new because my last one was was RMA'd any ideas why it's not appearing?
ummm that is the new icon...
Oh so it's Google Launcher putting a circle around it, how ****. It looks better on my 6P.
Your post has me confused. The round icons are the standard ones on Pixels. You wouldn't have the round icons on a 6P unless you were using a custom Rom that included them as a feature.

I came from the n5 and I already miss aosp. I was wondering if anyone else feel the same way. I also want to know why other companies such as sams and htc offer a google edition for their flagships and not lg? Like why in the world wouldn't lg offer a ge for their phones?

I'm coming from an N5, previously had the G2, but 4.4 fobbed up pdanet tether so I went for the N5. I am looking forward to getting away from AOSP.
aosp is kinda boring now but after trying out android it made me change my mind..i have never been a fan of touchwiz im just gonna try it out once they release it to stores but we wont see a stable aosp build till next year
Keeping this G3 vs saving $215 and using my nexus on android L is a hard dilemma right now

My N5 already feels small lol. I don't really mind LG's skin as it isn't too obtrusive. I know I'm going to miss my Nexus when Android L drops, but I really like the bigger screen and I should have much better battery life now.
I have the red variant on the N5, but the G3 will be a nice change of pace.

Yea, but I need something different.
I came from the N4 to the HTC One M7 then the N5 to the G3, do I miss stock android, sometimes, is it fatal to my enjoyment of the G3? Hell no!
LG's theme is not too far from stock, it is enjoyable enough, you still have access to more or less everything you do on a stock android build.
As for the GPE, I believe it is Google that are the driving force behind that, it may be that because LG have been building the last few Nexus devices that they have not wanted a GPE too.

thankfully if they do release a GPE, you can simply flash the GPE rom on the carrier variants of the G3
Yep miss it sometimes but to be honest.. I dont mind G3's launcher.. Its not that far off + you get some handy features.
Also with my G3 I rooted it instantly then installed the Google Experience Launcher, Xposed framework with GEL settings and the new 'Teaksbox" module and its amazing now!! <3 love it!
Yep, I'm coming from the N5 too. At the beginning I also missed AOSP.
But to be honest after some usage I think the LG Android is pretty fine. I uninstalled the apps I don't need or want, use nova launcher for the AOSP feeling, have hidden some more apps from the app drawer, changed the settings menu to list view, installed SwiftKey keyboard and the missing Google Apps from the play store.
It is pretty decent now and I'm happy (especially with the camera .
And yes the N5 and N4 feel so tiny now, lol.
Guys, I'm thinking of getting a OnePlus 3 to replace my n5, but I have a few questions before I want to commit.
1. How's the ROM support for it i.e. custom Roms?
2. Camera quality (both shooters) in low light?
3. Can I get a secure lockscreen, i.e. quick toggles and power menu don't work when the screen is secured with a pin/password ?
4. Can I customize the quick toggles like something in the screenshot (apart from the layers overlay) ?
5. Is there any custom ROM for the device that allows me the features in 3&4?
6. Is an aukey quick charger the same as the dash charger that comes with it?
7. How likely is the screen to shatter when dropped or through accidental pressure?
I have my birthday coming up in a week, so I wanted to get it then. So help me out guys. I've also been condi the new Nexus phones about come out. So help me out guys. Get it or hold out?

1. There are lots, check the op3/roms&kernels section here on xda
2. Not as Good as sgs7 but better than average. Constant updates will improve the Camera aswell.
3.dont know actually, dont think so on oos.
4. Yes you can rearrange and hide the toggles.
5. Most certainly there are, check mentioned section in the forum.
6. No it is not. Dash only Works with dash and in some cases the oppo vooc charger. But the vooc is microusb and op3 is usbC so they wont match, and a normal adapter takes the dash/vooc away. The only thing that Works is vooc carcharger and a dash usb cable.
7. Its gorillaglass 4 right? So its the same as many other high End phones. Not shatterproof, almost no phone is that has a Good display.
If you want an android stock feel then the nexus is for you. Oos is almost stock android and many are experiencing the OP3 to be faster than the 6p and others are saying the opposite.
If you want the new features of android N really bad, then the nexus is for you. The Op3 wont probable get the android N update in at least 6 months after what i have read.

Thanks for the reply bro. So the quick settings can be resized and rearranged then? And about the screen, I've read in a review that it shattered quite easily. Must be a defective unit then. Oh and one last thing, are the updates the only thing that set them apart? Go for it then?

Not resizeable, but rearrangeable.
Okay, well i dont think that we can find a reviewer who has tested different phones for the sole purpose of testing the shattering of screen. All depends on how it falls, how high, and on what.
Just get a screen protector.
I dont know the new nexus, it is yet to come,
Nexus devices are THE android device, and are Said to be the fastest, but as for now the s7 and the op3 are the fastest after all ive seen. So regarding a new high End phone that costs $200 less than a new yet to come nexus device i would say its a nobrainer.
@skyknife93
Keep in mind that when using a custom rom which is not based on OxygenOS, you will not be able to use the stock camera app.
Other apps show noticeably more noise in lowlight on CM13 and OxygenOS:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67946626&postcount=17
There is a work-in-progress camera port:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/themes/port-official-oxygenos-3-1-3-camera-mm-t3407757
So far postprocessing does not work and taptofocus causes a force close.
The only downside I can think off is that updates to Android N may take a while. Although so far updates have been impressively fast. Plus customer service maybe lacking if the phone develops a fault but for a potential $200 saving it seems a no brainer so far for me.
Also the 5P is likely to be based on the HTC 10,and the OP3 is superior phone to that in most reviewers opinions.

Wasn't in the market for a new phone but my coworker is in a bad money situation and is selling me his Google Playstore Pixel XL for 600 bucks. Not a bad deal considering they are going for over 700 bucks on swappa. I currently have the S7 Edge and I really like having the back button on the right side of the phone but the Pixel has it on the left side of the phone... Anyway around this other than rooting and using custom ROM?

128gb model? If so, sounds good. Wouldn't bother with the 32gb as there's no sdcard slot.
Don't know about back button mods unless custom roms, etc. I always root, rom ASAP.

Multiple Roms have this feature, it's a trivial matter to read the OP of a few Roms to find out honestly.
Also, deciding on a phone based on the location of the back button is rather silly. Just because at this moment you are used to the current location of the back button does mean you can't adapt to a different orientation. A few days of use and you will get used to it.

You can even do this on the stock rom

This was one of the things I missed the most coming from the s5. I believe there is a mod in the mods section which has the nav bar tuner but you might need root. I was also waiting for development to pick up before doing anything and now I'm on PureNexus which has the nav bar tuner. You should consider trying it out. It's 100% as stable as stock. I feel its a little snappier and the battery life is also better. Other than a few extra settings it is no different than stock.
It's available in stock firmware as well as custom firmwares. With stock, you can only accomplish this with root at the moment, until Google decides to release it's Navbar Tuner from System UI Tuner.
It would be worth rooting, changing the setting, then fully unrooting to do this IMO.
Thanks for all the replies. So is the NavBar Tuner something accessible through system UI Tuner without root? There is conflicting info about this all over the web. Some say it can be done with stock ROM w/out root, others say one must root.
I am excited for this device, it is the 32GB variant but being that I rely so much on the cloud I don't need the added storage.

You can do it without root. But you need to be unlocked and be able to temp boot twrp. From there you can move the apks manually. I know this works because my boy is using my modded system ui, settings, and framework apks using that method.
Once the pixel's were released, pixel mods grew into development all around. I'm curious if anyone is interested in a nexus mod that brings a nexus theme (accent and navbar) to the Pixel
Opinions appreciated!
Uh, you can literally install any ROM that isn't the stock ROM and have the normal Android navbar and colors (unless they specifically include the Pixel ones).
Try pure Nexus, it has a lot of "Nexus" things in it.
Hey Guys,
I hope this is the right section for my question.
I was wondering if there is a Now Playing port to the OG Pixel in the progress. Haven't found much Infos yet, other than some devs asking for specific files from the Pixel 2 (XL). Im really looking forward to it, so maybe someone has Infos?
Otherwise, I wish you guys a great weekend.

He means the original Pixel XL as opposed to the new pixel 2.
Any updates on this?
Right now there seem to be two implementations (and one port) of the Now Playing function for Pixel phones. CypherOS (as well as PixelExperience mod) have a similar function on their ROM that allows your lock screen to identify playing music. If I'm not mistaken though this is not a port but a custom function using Soundhound. This may be the last that we'll see of an open sourced version from them due to a dispute between Cypher and PE (more on the Cypher G+ page, on the discussion filter) going on.
The second option seems like a port of the function to CarbonROM. They have a ROM available for the OG Pixel (XL) but with no current maintainer. Looks like the now playing feature only works on the Pixel 2. On a commit from the PixelExperience github they say that they are using a slimmed down Ambient Container so it might borrow from CarbonROM already.
If you wanted the majority of pixel features (at least in appearance) to remain the same though a ROM does exist that adds the CypherOS/PixelExperience implementation of AmbientPlay (nowplaying)for Pixel and Pixel XL phones while backporting Pixel 3 features, like the launcher. I haven't used it but it seems promising. According to the current changelog, it was removed last update for the API being down and added again for testing purposes for this month's update. Who knows if it actually works at the moment though. I'm not aware of any other working port for this model sadly. I think this is the closest we can get, until someone can create a new ROM with stock Pie but and the CarbonROM now playing code.
