Actually, I'm not sure if "Tray" is the right term.
I'm running stock T-Mobile G3.
When you tap that icon with a six dots surrounded by a white circle, it shows you all your installed apps. My only choices are small icons or large icons.
Is there any way (setting, app, or mod) that would allow me to display (and launch) all my apps as a list? Ideally, with alpha jump links down the side (so, I could jump to the apps that start with "T", for example).
At this point, I'm hoping to avoid a custom ROM because I want to really get to know the phone's native features, first.

try nova launcher(google play store) then go to nova settings/drawer/drawer style/list
Nova Launcher is great. Just what I needed. Thanks so much!
I hate so many things about Lollipop but they're very small annoyances that get me worked up. I tried rooting and trying some roms but then I started noticing other issues like my Bluetooth not working and phone getting hot quicker and such.
All I want is for my phone to be Lollipop but look like KitKat...I should never have updated -_-.
The two most annoying things to me are the recent apps (I hate cards so much, I want my grid back), and the pull down menu (don't what specifically to point out, I guess it is how much space the power center uses. I have read recently that you can change the recent apps settings by clicking on the 3 dots menu, but CM12 doesn't have this. How on CM12 can I change the recent apps from cards to grid?
Hi to all!
I'm experiencing a really strange thing when try to set an HOME gesture with some of most famous apps for that purpose, like ALL IN ONE GESTURES, EDGE GESTURES and similar.
If I set recent apps and back gesture, they work in every way I set them...but if I try to set ANY KIND of gesture for returning to home... nothing happens.
The command work properly (I feel the haptic vibration, or alinz, that starts when a command is performed), but the gesture won't work in the end...
Anyone noticed that too? Maybe there's something I missed for make them work?
I use swipe up from bottom border and it works for me. I use aio.

I didn't find the cause yet but it is also happening to me. If I reboot the phone the home gesture starts to work fine, it only breaks if I re-enabled the nav bar + disable immersive mode using their quick tiles provided by joneplustools and systemuituner. The easiest solution is to reboot the phone.
Well but are you rooted?
Because I can disable navbar but on home screen it'll be always there, so I can't use bottom gestures, only edge...

Right now I'm rooted, yes.
Without root the navbar always shows if you swipe from the bottom. You could try a 0px navbar by I think it doesn't work in OOS at the moment.

I already have the 0pt navbar and used successfully on S8 but with OnePlus it just don't works, I suppose because the navbar is named "drawable" in OnePlus internals while in APK it's "navbar", at least I've read it on multiple sources...

Yeah that must be the reason.
If you don't want to root right now your solution is to use a gesture app like edge gestures or swipe navigation because you can use gestures from the right/left edge so you activate the navbar less often.
It's not ideal but is has one advantage; for example when I want to close a game using the back button, the gesture sometimes is not recognized and I have to activate the navbar using the quick setting and that sometimes breaks the home gesture like we discussed yesterday so I have to reboot the phone sometimes. You only have to swipe from the bottom and it's all fine.

Yeah...but the fact that navbar is permanent in home screen no matter if you choose to hide it or not is really disappointing...

According to my experience this kind of problem is most likely caused by a third party app, possibly an xposed module or some half baked apk. Privately exchange a list of your installed apps, compare and concentrate on the more dubious apps you have in common and you may find your culprit there.

Well I don't have any X module since I'm not rooted, apps installed I don't know but I doubt it because are the same apps that was in S8 before, so I don't think that an app can interfere with the 0pt navbar functions...

Yeah that's the main gripe. I suppose you are concerned about burn-in.
I don't know if stock OOS Oreo will fix that. Maybe some Dev can mod the navbar file as I was done with the old filetype as in the Galaxy S8.
I also can tell you that on LiquidRemix 8.0 ( it's on a Telegram group as is in testing stage ) you could hide the navbar completely without root but I understand that you don't want to change the rom and right now is has bugs so is better to stay in Oxygen.
Right now I'm using stock OOS 4.7.4 with root and to update is super easy, just download and flash the full zip, flash your kernel + magisk/superSu after and it's done.
I don't know if you care about Android Pay...

I can tell you that on a fresh installed OOS 4.7.4 without third party apps it doesn't work. The problem is that on Oxygen the navbar has another name in system so that mod doesn't work.
No I don't care about it because there's no need for it now, at least for me.
I've always rooted phones, no problems with that, it's just that I don't feel the need to do it with 5T since is nearly stock and good to run stock "as is"...
I FOUND A WAY!
Okay, so for this you need:
Magisk
Xposed for Magisk (possibly also works with normal Xposed)
UnrestrictedGetTasks module found in Xposed Installer
The Apk at the bottom of the first post (Credits to in.abhi9) installed in /system/priv-app (just pop it in any magisk module you have installed in the same folders, so ./system/priv-app/theapk.apk).
a fingerprint gestures app like this that can launch Tasker tasks.
Tasker: In Tasker you need to create two tasks each containing the "run shell" action (they need root). In the first you put "am start in.abhi9.apphistory/in.abhi9.recentswipo.SwipeLeftActivity" and in the second "am start in.abhi9.apphistory/in.abhi9.recentswipo.SwipeRightActivity"
finally link left- and right swipes from the Fingerprint Gestures app to the correct tasker tasks and Bob's your uncle.
enjoy superior app switching!
Of course you can map any trigger to the tasks you created, they don't have to be fingerprint swipes. I suppose screen swipe gestures can come in handy too!
Original post:
The latest Lenovo Zuk phones have an amazing feature (named U-touch) that let's users swipe their fingerprint scanner to switch apps. This is not just the switch-to-last-app feature we had since Nougat, but it remembers the app-order. Here are two video's to demonstrate what I mean:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS-LSoraPZg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sYf4H8yMHw
It seems like the fastest way ever to switch between open apps and as I like to multitask a lot (between more than 2 apps) I'm looking for an app, mod, module, Tasker profile, whatever, to make this happen. It doesn't really matter if it uses the fingerprint scanner (using the Oreo fingerprint gestures api) or if we have to swipe over our navigation bar. Does such a thing exist at all?

After some searching I found this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-zuk-z2/themes/app-stock-zui-style-swipe-behaviour-t3620653/. This app enables the swipe behaviour on custom lenovo roms that don't have it yet, however it doesn't work on (aosp) oreo yet. Does anyone have any experience in creating a list of the apps that are currently opened in foreground on oreo? (he has a github for the app)
I moved it back to the apps & mods section as I now found a way to do it.

When you enable Dark mode, it doesn't show Individual apps (screenshot 1)
Individual apps list is needed to toggle per apps if you want to exclude some apps (particular app may not display correctly in Dark mode - like gray-on-black or so)
I can enable the Individual app list by long pressing the grayed-out Individual apps text with slightly sliding the finger.
List may immediately disappear but after few tries I have the list (screenshot 2)
It works for me on the stock MIUI 12.5.8 (EEA)
----
Unfortunately, users claim that Individual apps list can be no more be enabled with MIUI 13 (A12) - sad
For me, and i beleive all Lisa phones, there is no problem with dark mode individual apps on 12.5.8.
The problem and the bug is on MIUI 13 (13.0.5). There is no workaround.
Thanks. I found a better solution. Tap and hold the individual apps text and slightly slide right and then without releasing the finger, slide up to scroll down. This will open the app list and it'll stay there as long as you don't scroll back up. All this while I thought it was magisk that caused the issue lol. I'm on MIUI 12.5.5 IN.

That's why I prefer Xiaomi.eu
