Rom version in Settings>About Phone
CID from ASTRO file manager (download from market) via this tutorial:
http://www.mikesouthby.co.uk/2010/08/htc-desire-creating-goldcard-using-mac-or-linux/
How can I find out my ROM Version? I'm running a custom ROM and About Phone just says 2.3.4.
Did you try the fastboot oem enable command in the sd card fix section of the USB brick thread?
Yes, I did that. When I'm running the '/data/flash_image misc /data/mtd0.img' command in terminal will it tell me if it's successful or not? Because it's not telling me anything. Just jumping to the next line. I've tried rebooting after that and it's still saying damaged SD card.
Not sure if this has something to do with it but I flashed the new OxygenR2 Hboot...could that have something to do with it since they patched the SuperCID?
That was it. The new OxygenR2 Hboot has all CID's set to superCID (so you don't need a goldcard to run an RUU) I was using the backupCID which had my carrier in it. Once I generated the mtd0.img with superCID as the CID it went no problem.
Good news! Useful issues for others to read. Maybe add to the title and tag it [SOLVED]?
seriously, the USB-Brick thread MUST BE UPDATED !!!
if you are S-OFF (which you must be since running a custom hboot) you can fix usb-brick with:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot oem eraseconfig
and that is it, usb-brick fixed !

it is S-OFF
bravo pvt1 ship s-off

Made goldcard, but all the PB99IMG.zip I put on the sdcard are reported as INVALID.
try via fastboot, but I allways get the same error as it wasnt connected.
when I type: fastboot devices I get the device sn but not the $ to keep sending commands so every command I send reports the same error.
try the android flasher, nothing.
used the search button, read a lot but still cannot get the fastboot flash recovery recovery.img to work
run out of ideas, need some help please.
Please specify exactly which error is given when you execute "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"(recovery.img being your recovery image).
Because if you've got fastboot commands working you should be able to flash.
Do your hboot say alpharev anywhere?

I read this means no proper comunication in fastboot.
it is the clockworkmod recovery and the RA recovery...
both give me the same error... I cannot use any fastboot commmands.
they all end as previously shown.
tryed android flasher 1.8.0, selected recovery.img.... got "could not find part of the path data\recovery.img"
everytime, with every recovery.img I use.

You can flash a recovery with the following command over adb or terminal emulator if your s-off. I know cm7, amonra recovery and rmd recovery support this, others...probably.
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
I use it all the time.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
it doesnt work because I am stuck on fastboot.
adb shell do not work for me.
is there anything I should do after "fastboot devices" command?
I am using a xtc clip created goldcard.
should I flash a new hboot or a new radio?

from the bootloader menu go into recovery and flash the rom u want
ensure the img file are in the same directory of fastboot.exe
how u got s-off? with alpharev or an xtc clip? the xtc clip doesn't give u fastboot flash commands i think, then u should try run revolutionary.io i think, after u can flash recovery etc
s-off via xtc-clip.
will try the commands... should I pick any radio.img?

first run revolutionary, it will give u a patched s-offed hboot..this hboot will allow commands like "fastboot flash..."
about the radio, u can use the latest in this thread (extract the img from the zip) be careful flashing it..wait it to finish..don't remove battery or something like that
if I run revolutionary all I get is "waiting for device"

I installed the drivers, it says
Android Composite ADB Device
version 2.0.10.12
date: 11/08/2009
Shouldnt it says 3.0?
anyway... it didnt work... I will try to delete/uninstall everysingle htc driver in my pc or try on another fresh laptop with no htc drivers.
Again here,
new pc, Windows XP SP3 with no HTC/Android software.
Intalled the HTC 3.0 and the phone was not recognized
should I try on win7?
that is going to be my next test
follow up: tryed on win7, htc 3.0.0 drivers didnt work. phone is not recognized.
I know it was working fine... tryed to flash it and it died... resurrected with RIFF Box but cannot flashed with any firmware.
i tried to flash a new hboot with android flasher, but it just reboot and nothing happened.
did you check md5 sum btw? just with the error saying invalid and 1 byte...
So you can still access fastboot but cant flash? hmmm...
I would personally delete all your android sdk and redownload it all and set up adb fastboot again, it does sound like a driver problem

What did you expect? Its requires few seconds to flash it..If u saw the success message and u see the new hboot on the bootloader screen, thats all
ok,
now I went to find a PB99IMG.zip with the same radio.
copied it to the sd
power on the phone
and I got this:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
but it is just sitting there, waiting for something to happen?
I tryed to select something but it doesnt respond to anything... can it be that the touch screen is faulty? because it was working at the beginning.
I did redownload everything again.
java sdk and everything
it doesnt work with the htc 3.0 driver, only with 2.0

Unrooting problem

Hi I have HTC Desire Z A7272 rooted with gfree, psneuter etc according to instructions on cyanogenmod wiki. Now I want to unroot my device, I've already succeed with OS return to stock by extracting zip from RUU exe. But now I have problem with S-ON flag and CID. My device wasn't branded by my operator. I fallowed instructions from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik..._gfree_to_get_radio_S-ON_and_the_original_CID and at the end I'm getting and I did everything in correct order but when I'm executing command /data/local/tmp/gfree -s on -c HTC__032 (my operator in Poland is PLAY)
at the end (when creating backup) error : Error opening backup file. So my CID is still 11111... and S-OFF is visible in my bootloader.
Please help.
is your phone in charge only mode? make sure it is.
gfree needs to be able to write to the sdcard to make the backup.

CID/MID is wrong you can clearly see that, so why ask Get S-OFF with Sunshine S-OFF $25 for it, then you can change your cid/mid as you need(Convert device to and from...)

Get SunShine s-off. It costs $25, but it's worth it. After that you can go SuperCID.
Here are the steps to go SuperCID so that you can use firmware from any carrier.
1. Have adb and fastboot set up. There are guides all over xda and google
2. Connect phone to PC and open terminal
3. Type "adb devices" to make sure phone is connected to PC
4. Type "adb reboot bootloader"
5. Once in fastboot type "fastboot devices" to make sure fastboot sees your device
6. Type "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
7. Once in black screen that says HTC you are in ruu mode
8. Type "fastboot oem writecid 11111111"
9. After a successful cid overwrite type "fastboot reboot-bootloader"
10. Profit! You are now supercid!!

It is the method I know. But if you know another way, please share! I always like to learn new stuff.

No method, you just don't have to go into RUU mode for it. In fastboot/bootloader you can just use the command fastboot oem writecid 11111111
No need to mess around with RUU mode. Especially if that guy doesn't even know how to read the problem he has, it's a disaster in the making for him...

Nice to know. Thank you. This was the method I was taught though. Good to know RUU isn't necessary.

Help with rerooting 6.16 bootloader

I have received a Sprint Evo 4g and I can't get it to unlock the bootloader or install a custom recovery. I says Revolutinary on top, has s-off, hboot 6.16.1002 and radio 2.15.00.01.15. The firmware is 2.3.5 "5.06.651.6". When I type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" it get a error saying "(bootloader) [ERR] Command error !!!". When I try "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" it gives me another error saying "FAILED (remote: image error! (BootMagic check fail))". I have all the files needed for this phone and I have experience with using fastboot and adb. I have rooted my HTC One and EVO 4g lte.
Can someone please help me with this?
Thanks

Root with Cydia impactor, then install SuperSU or Superuser. Then use Flashify to flash a recovery. You have S off so there is no need to unlock the bootloader. It could be a corrupt download of the recovery, hard to say.
Post your cmd output when you run the commands, minus your important info, meid serial # etc.
Also make sure fastboot is unchecked under power or battery settings.
I will try that. Thanks for the help.
