If you play any game your phone battery will drop fast. Doesn't matter what game it is, though 3D games obviously use more power than 2D games.
My advice is don't fret over things that aren't important and just enjoy your phone.

Ohk! But i had also played Asphalt 8 and it drains just 10 % in 50 mins so i want to ask z play users who play this online game.
And also my 2nd ques (You didn't answered) was why the usage showing 1hr 45 min in critical ops even when i played it for 50 mins after installation.

Critical ops is probably working the CPU and GPU harder, that's all. I haven't played the game, but I know others drain my battery like crazy and it's not unexpected. Your phone is working normally.
As for question 2, you provided proof of what your phone says, I can only assume you misjudged the amount of time you played the game, and actually played it for 1hr and 45 mins. That's easy to do when you're distracted by a game. No offense intended, if you have some proof you only played it for 50 minutes other than an estimate then I welcome it.

I played for exact 50mins because i arrived home from coaching in 6:30Pm and downloaded it on 6:40pm and started playing it in on exact 6:40pm and I had setted a alarm for 7:30 to go outside and ended playing in exact 7:30.
So it's 50 mins only.
Don't know why it was showing 1hr 45min!

Odd, it's like the CPU time is double for some reason.

The game can be made poorly, your CPU may be working harder... there are a lot of possibilities.
Try removing the game, recharge and use the phone as you regularly did before, if your numbers return... proof it is the game. I would suggest reaching out to the developer and asking them as opposed to asking here.

Yea, the game is still in development and not developed fully.

worry about battery :(

Hi,the ho is one of my favourites phones, but the integrated battery is the worst choise that HTC could do
now i Have an HD2,and with my daily use it survive only 10/13 hours
I want that my net phone survive at least 18 hours with these use:
-brightness 30% or auto
-wifi on at least 6/7 hours
-skype (only chat)
-gmail
-facebook messanger
-80 sms
-10 minutes of call
-2 hours of internet (also with 3G)
-30 minutes of games
The hox can survive 18 hours with my use?
i am also worried about the battery life. i am planning to buy HOX. what issues i should be aware of? mainly i am talking abt hardware issues. before buying the phone i wanna make sure evrything is alright.
my biggest concern is the battery life. i need my one x to survive 13 hours with the below usage:
3hrs of music. ( with screen off )
1hr of games ( mainly simple games like fruit ninja or temple run)
20mins of wifi ( thats very rare. not everyday)
30mins of voice calls over 2g and 6-7 sms.
1hour of movie.( thats also a rare case)
if i unplug the charger at 8:00 a.m how much will i have at 10:00 p.m will the HOX be able to survive it?

With this above usage you need you probably will have 20-30% left (maybe more, depends do you use stock or custom ROM, s tock or custom kernel)

At this rate you will surely survive. Although custom roms will male sure you do with that usage. Dimmed autobrightness and great governing kernels surely made mine last a day and a half. Gpu intensive games will surely drain it within a few hours though.

yes i am into custom roms and kernels. i love to do all stuffs. games mainly i will play stick cricket or temple run. maybe when i will play games like ashphalt or gta 3 i will cut down on other usage. maybe wont watch a movie.
but before buying it. how shud i check it on the store?

Be a little more specific. Which are you trying to check out? Hardware?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
both hardware and software. i suppose all software problems are solve. i cant exchange it or replace it once i buy it. remember that.
with my use i don't survive for 18 with a custom rom?
First check the screen by putting pressure, usually it's on the left side. You'll notice there'll be some rainbow effects, youtube that.
Second, dead pixels. Find an app with movable with background.(how i got mine replaced).
Lastly and moat crutially, update ota once, should take you to 1.27 or 1.28 base, the defect here is that the lcd from unboxing will work fine. After the ota or even flashing. Part of your screen will literally be unresponsive. Usually that is at the bottom part where you press the "done" or "okay" or your app drawer/dock. Sometimes it's on the top.
Pray your country has an HTC service center man. I travelled a few days to get mine replaced
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
OMG!!!! i dont even check this much before buying a second-hand phone. crap man. i cant do all these in the shop at most i can check the hardware stuffs. but what if it gives the issues after OTA update. i definitely have a service centre. but they will charge me offcourse. i heard the latest realeses are bug free. the SH 25 version (not sure abt the version number).
i am losing hope to buy the one x man.
A faulty one x is deserves a replacement. Tell your SC that it's defective and you shouldnt be charged if it is still on warranty

is it fair that we talk about fixing the phone. y will it be defected in the first place? Y. my question to HTC. people buy phones with a lot of money. they spend month trying to figure out which one they like more. and after that they spend months in getting the fault free phone and replacing the faulty one. ( like the HOX). its really frustrating. oe or two is okay. but i have seen almost 80 percent replacing their HOX because they got a faulty one. this is not fair. i want a fault free one at my first pick? but the probability is 50-50? this is sick. i never had to check this much for a third-hand phone that i have to do to get a brand new HOX.

80% ? 50:50 ? Watch the results of this polls: THIS and THIS ... and if you know that there are much more voting with a faulty one (people with defects will search for the defect and vote) i dont know how you come to that numbers
May my screenshot will help you solving your battery worries.
I didn't turn off wlan. Calls about 45min.
Auto mail refresh (3 accounts). 30min of gaming. about 2h browsing the web..
I use Franco R10 Kernel and Domination mod.

I get exactly the same thing, I'm also interested to hear if it's a problem.
Samsung's heavy skin is up, lol. I can play KOTOR(Knights of the Old Republic) for three hours straight after using it for three hours previously browsering the web and chatting with HangOuts and G+. This is on a custom ROM.

I have the same problem, the battery can drain upto 65% in 20-30 mins. The area round the camera gets very hot, If I switch the tablet off and let it cool down, when I switch on again the battery will have recovered most of the charge. What is wrong, my wife doesn't have a problem with her older 8" note.

I have the same issue after upgrading to lollipop... lose about 50% in 30 mins when playing games, especially Clash of Clans... SOT of just over an hour...and the tab is always on Airplane mode with only WiFi on. Even location is turned off. ..
Didn't have the problem in KitKat. Anybody got any solutions? Really fed up of this.
Unrooted, stock ROM.

Did you perform a full wipe / factory reset after upgrade from KK to L ?
I have had my Samsung Note 2014 repaired under warranty at John Lewis. The 'Logic board was replaced and the tablet now seems fine, I upgraded to Lollipop last night and it still seems ok.

Very disappointed to buy a HTC 10, and some questions

Good afternoon to all, I hope you can help me with this situation.
I have 20 days with the HTC 10, and I can not be more disappointed of its performance, and coming from a galaxy s6, but we go by parts.
1- the phone, it gets very hot, very fast, especially after updating to nougat 7, I mean, with 15 20 minutes of surfing on the web, it reaches temperatures between 40-44 C ° (104-111 F °) , At this temperature it is uncomfortable to hold. Is this normal ??
Taking into account that I do not play, I only watch videos, I listen to music and web, because I just did a hard reset, which brings us to point 2.
2 - It is the first time, I update an android version, and a big error appears, once updated to android 7, the keyboard stopped working (swiftkey), so I could not access it because it was protected By password, and the keyboard in the start section, never displayed. I had to do a hard reset with only 15 days of use, seriously WTF!
3- Due to the warm up, the battery life is quite poor (between 3.5 and 4 hours of screen, no play, or take pictures all day, turning off mobile data at times and wifi, is this battery drain normal?
The battery come to exhaust quickly, especially when the phone is very hot, when restarting the phone, it eats 3-5% of battery every time.
When taking photos the same, the battery drops very quickly.
4- I normally play on a PC at 60 fps, the phone when playing video on youtube, has a slight lag or "stuttering", this jumps out at me very easily, although there are people who do not see it at all, I do by The same as I mentioned earlier.
When playing video youtube on the phone, the camera movements are not smooth, there are micro-cuts to the FPS, and it is very annoying.
5- before upgrading to android 7, just install a game, "realm defense, hero legends", a very popular game on android, and felt like it was under 30fps all the time, my previous galaxy s6 handled this very smooth,
6- Points 4 and 5 are solved by activating the "high performance" option in the menu of developers, the lag in the videos disappears completely, and the games feel very good, but with the consequent increase in battery usage and Temperature, seriously WTF again.
The phone according to CPUZ has a load of 15-35% all the time without loading any application, this is normal in andrid 7 ??
The phone is in stock status, with the update of the operator, I have no ROM installed, and I have no idea how to do it, because I would not like to lose the warranty.
Any recommendations to this situation ??
THANKS and excuse my bad English.
May want to ask for a replacement. None of the issues you mentioned here and I have been using this phone for almost a year.
No these are not normal. Obviously something is running around causing the CPU usage and eating the battery. Given how many problems you're having I would do a factory reset, see how it goes without installing any apps. If things get better that'll help your pinpoint the troublesome app(s). If not, a replacement is in order.

I'll second that, although I've only used mine for about six months. I do admit that running Android 6 the phone did seem to get hotter than it does with Android 7.
That being said, when I'm running a game battery life does suck, and it does get warm. I think I'm about 5 to 6 hours of screen on time, but I'm also bone stock with a bunch of extra apps in the background.

Thank you friend, I am interested to know more about your experience with the phone, why you only had 6 months?
Could you fix some problem that he gave you?
Greetings.
I have HTC 10 for one year and several days, never had those issues.
I admit HTC storage r&w speed is slower than S6 because of emmc5.1, but mine is smooth enough.
I also recognized the battery life is shorter on Android 7.0, but it's a general issue for phones upgraded to this version of Android...Not just HTC10, Sony, Samsung etc also has this problem.
As for SwiftKey stopped working, I have no such an issue, in fact I'm a mod of SwiftKey.
At last for the temperature, mine gets 38 °C while fast charging; 42°C is max while playing heavy games.

Mine gets 40°C Without doing anything, and playing reaches 44-45 °
And it seems ridiculous, that when doing this app can not with the 60fps, for a little ball in 2D.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wt.fpstest&hl=es
Again, it reaches almost 60 FPS, activating the high performance mode.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Sorry, I should clarify...
I've had the phone for about 7-8 months now (longer than I originally thought, got it back in September of last year...) and got the update to nougat about 4 months ago.
When the phone was running marshmallow, it would get warm while working on tasks that aren't CPU/GPU intensive. With the update to nougat, it definitely helped with the heat production. That's not to say it doesn't get warm... If I'm playing Rayman Classic on full brightness, that phone gets really REALLY warm. But when playing Deus Ex - The Fall, even on high brightness, it doesn't get uncomfortably warm like when playing Rayman. Also, basic tasks don't overheat the phone like they would on MM.
I should note that I typically leave power saver turned on as well. I've found it doesn't affect performance noticeably for myself. I've also had Boost+ optimise all foreground apps from the overheating nightmare on MM, and I hadn't bothered to turn it off... These could play into the heat production of my phone as well...
My time with this awesome phone has been so short due to my contract with my former service provider...
I think most of your issues will get resolved after installing Custom Rom. Infact I am in similar situation like you. I can't root my phone due to warranty. As i know for fact that in my country HTC charge huge amount of money even for small issue. After spending that much money on repair, there is no guarantee that phone will work fine cause engineers are not capable enough, maybe cost cutting by HTC. Meanwhile i would suggest select SRGB instead of Vivid display, it will surely reduce heating problem to some extent.

Amazon vídeo all the time consumed 100% CPU

Hi guys..
It seems that this app is not optimized for our tablet
I consume a lot of battery, 20% x hour. This is outrageous, too much time consuming CPU resources. How could it be 100% in cpu?
One hour of Amazon video = 1 hour of cpu.
Is there any modified version like the ones that exist in Netflix that does not destroy the battery?

What will the store have to do with where you install it? The app is still the same. Can you give me information about what consumes you x hour with a brightness of 50%?

You mentioned the app not being optimized for the device I noticed that samsungs version is 24mb and playstore is 20mb i use around 40 percent brightness which is ten less then your asking about but no where near that kinda drain Im not saying there different just where I get mine and its always quickly updated through galaxy apps they also have there own specific kindle app for our tablets and thats definitely different. The prime apps are prob are the same but I don't have that drain so was just a suggestion.
I dont use the auto brightness feature on my tablet for me it seems to cause more drain not less, I will right now run a movie for one hour at ten percent more brightness then I usually do to tell you a percentage, Im running a custom rom on a T-800, Im testing it right now cpu is 43 percent im at 50 percent brightness be back in an hr to report the percentage on battery. Of Course if you dont have the same device as me I dont know if the info will help.
I must be tired today I forgot to mention Im also rooted with SU just to add all info be back in a few with that percentage.
OK Im Back Here after 1 hour watching video on prime video app on my tablet and I went from 91-83 percent so roughly 8 to 9 percent drain an hour using this app I dont know if that helps but hope it does btw I didnt like the episode of the tv show I watched but was in hd and looked nice

Thanks for your help,
I have deleted the app and I have installed it from the Samsung store. Now the consumption is correct, consume 10% x 52 minutes with 50% brightness using wifi in my Tab S 8.4 6.0.1 MM without root.
Why does the app downloaded from the Google playstore consume more?
I can not find a logical explanation unless Google modifies the app with something strange so that they consume more resources ... crazy.
Regarding the consumption of the CPU it is still according to the control of the battery of the same system, 100% of the time is connected to the CPU, I do not know the reason, maybe it is an incorrect reading
Greeting
The Amazon app is most likely using the cpu to decode the video which uses a lot of power, The Samsung version must be using the gpu to decode the video which uses a lot less power as it`s much more efficient at decoding video.
It`s most likely the Amazon app is not finding a codec or the hardware decoding support on the gpu so it is using the cpu, The Samsung version is most likely forcing the app to use the older h.264/mp4 decoding rather than the newer vp9/hevc which the S1 does not support with hardware decoding.
I don't have Amazon video so i cannot check for myself.
John.
John.
And you all thought I was being silly Although Yeah its kinda strange the google play version would consume so much more battery I agree with you there.

I wonder if the same thing will happen with other apps ... Netflix, Youtube and so on. I would like to know the reason why this is so, I do not find a logic in my head hahaha ?
Thanks for your solution!

Seemingly random framerate drops

Hey!
So I've recently bought an S20 from T-Mobile. It's a Hungarian model (980F). I'm facing some weird behavior here.
The issue:
In every game I play, from simple 2D connect-three and idle games, to intense things like Asphalt 9, what happens is that for a random amount of time (i've seen everything from 1 second to 10 minutes) the framerate just tanks. And I'm not talking about the Exynos performance fiasco here. This happens regardless of how long I use the phone or how hot it gets.
Some concrete examples:
- So, the cold phone can achieve a relatively stable 60 fps in Asphalt 9. After prolonged gaming, when the phone reaches a temp equilibrium, framerates settle at around 45 fps. That's fine for me, not the topic of this thread. But, sometimes I play for hours, and I keep this steady 45-ish framerate, other times I just pick up the phone, completely cold, and the second I start up the game, even the menu lags, at precisely 20 fps (I measure this with PerfZ). After some time passes, everything is back to normal, 60 fps. Then, again, randomly 20, then back to 60 again.
- I play Adventure Communist a lot (a simple idle button clicker game, nothing graphically intensive) and well as you can imagine, it's fine at 60. But sometimes this game also drops to exactly 20 fps for some random time, then back to normal.
- Subway Surfers runs at 120 stable. This game does not drop to 20, it drops to more like 40ish something (I have not measured an exact number here, just going by feeling).
- As I've said, this all happens regardless of heat. What I've also found is that GPU usage drops down significantly when this happens, as if something artificially limited the game for the time being (like something put an FPS cap on it).
- Interestingly, some games are unaffacted: PUBG Mobile, for example, heats the phone up like hell. After a good 30-40 minutes the framerate drops to well below the cap, but I've never had the issue during any session. The phone just throttles normally, but that's it. Games originally limited to 30 fps also don't experience this (or at least I haven't noticed). Forza Street also stresses the hardware pretty well, that game also drops from 60 to 50 something fps, but never had this weird back and forth switch between 20 and 60 fps. Strange.
What I've tried:
- Changing brightness
- Changing volume
- Through game booster, changing the preferred performance levels
- Downloading game booster plus and messing with it
- Turning on high performance mode in device care
- Disabling adaptive battery, turning off battery optimizations
- Disabling everything network related
- Factory resetting
- I went to a Samsung store, told the technician everything, showed him a vid, he said they've never seen anything like this, if I wanted I could leave the phone there for a software checkup... well... I didn't
- there might have been more things i've tried i cant remember right now, i've tried a lot of things, believe me...
Online research results:
So obviously, where do people go with these problems, of course, Reddit. Now, I haven't found anything about this when I tried searching for gaming related issues, but I've found a thread where a dude complains about his Ultra scrolling at lowered framerates sometimes (which by the way also happens to me, I just chose to ignore it for some reason). In this thread, I've found another dude, who posted a video he made about games, with the exact same issue that I have! So at least 1 other guy has this in the world... And basically this is it. Haven't been able to find anything useful besides this, every other post is just about the Exynos chip being inferior and things like that. I have some videos of it, but my account is fresh so I can't post any links. Just google "S20 Ultra scroll stutter", and the first Reddit post with the same name is what I'm talking about. It's a short thread. You'll find the comment.
I'm pretty sure this is unrelated to the whole "Exynos is trash" topic, as it doesn't depend on temperatures. Also, the fact that this happens in a lot of games, but not in others leads me to believe there might be some system level/software issue here. Also, GPU usage drops when it happens (as I said, like something capped it), this suggests to me the same, some software-level limitation.
Has any of you heard of or encountered this before? Do you have any other ideas what might cause this, and how to fix it?
Thanks for your help.
Didnt experience any of these isuue tho... have you updated the game opt. Service via galaxy store?

Yes, everything is up to date.
Samsung ****ed every exynos user. It's simple as that. Also, no fix, EVER. If you can return it DO IT. No one is going to do anything about it. Everyday I see people starting threads on xda or reddit complaining but nothing is happening. We in Europe have laws that protect us against this kind of ****ery but again no one is ready to fight Samsung. If this continues 80% of forums post will end up like this one.

My issue is not related to temperature and most of the problems that come with the Exynos chip are due to it running hotter and throttling. I don't think this is it.
I have the exact same issue you described with my S20. Searched but haven't found any solution either. Any information on this would be nice.
I do not own an S20 Exynos, I have the Snapdragon variant, but with my S10+ Exynos, I swear that after the Android 10 update I had started to experience the same issue. Even Clash Royale dropped for no reason to 20fps, not to mention Asphalt 9. It would sometimes go away after a reboot, other times not. Guess all you can do is wait for the Android 11 update, unless samsung issues some game optimizing service update that fixes this issue.
