phone back from repair and bootloader unlocked ?

Hey.
had a problem with nexus ( maybe still have)
Gave it to O2 for repair.
Picked phone back today and Ive noticed that bootloader is unlocked ( wasn't)
as they have downloaded old software on the phone 4.0.1 , phone found new update.
When installing it, it came out with red exclamation mark .... after taking battery out, it wont find the update again....
had unlocked bootloader anything to do with updating ? how do I update now ?
How do I lock it back ? or is it better to leave it like it is ? what are advantages ??
thanks for all help
leave it unlocked learn to flash recovery then learn to flash ROMs and you can have 4.0.4 today

1) wait for the OTA update to arrive, or 2) see here.

Reboot into fastboot mode, plug into your computer (assuming you have the driver installed), open a command prompt in the same directory as your fastboot.exe file and type: fastboot oem lock

If it is unlocked, you can use fastboot commands to flash images to your device - this may alleviate a lot of heartache later on. If you lock the bootloader, and you need to unlock it again, it will wipe all of your data (including anything stored on /sdcard).
thanks for all answers...
I have find out that they flashed my phone with yakjuxw and thats the reason it won't update I think
I was about to flash it last night, but I have noticed that the issue which was reason for me to give phone for repair is still there...
So will hold up with it and give it back to repair on Monday...again...

Not sure I follow. However you may want to try a tool called WugFresh Nexus Root Toolkit. The server is down at the moment. You may want to try to re-flashing 5.1, it has a normal mode and a soft-brick mode.

Hi all,
Same here, but my bootloader is unlocked. I'm not able to flash anything with the tool kits. It seems like it can't be recognized in fast boot mode. Any suggestion?
Thanks

When you have it cabled up to you PC via USB port, can you open Windows Explorer and view the file on your phone? If not you have a driver issue.
In developer options in the settings, did you check "Allow OEM unlocking" ? If you didn't, you will not be able to unlock.

You do not need to unlock bootloader to flash stock images since that is what the tablet is originally designed to run. It's very simple to flash. Please try it.
I think it is not correct unfortunately fo me
Here:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
has written:
4.If necessary, unlock the device's bootloader by running: fastboot oem unlock
The target device will show you a confirmation screen. (This erases all data on the target device.)

My Nexus 7-13 since MM works only correctly on my Windows 8&10 computers directly after wiping cache partition first. Incuding working bootloader (fasboot) driver without exclamation mark.
But if still not working, I also added correct hardware id's of my N7-13 to the android_winusb.inf file of the Google USB Driver. Because Google forgot to add them themselves.
My adjusted driver with explaining texts. Check if your N7-13 has same hardware id's, because late manufacturwd N7-13 (with preloaded LP not JB) have other Emmc chip and perhaps also other hardware id's: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_LknrYiQE02c2NzbGludW9BdkE

Weird bootloader behavior ... please help !!

Hello guys am basically a Noob when it comes to the new android 6.0+ security system that google included which changed the bootloader unlocking and rooting process a lil bit from the standert ( fastboot oem unlock ... fastboot flash twrp ... flash super su and voila )
let's get to my probleme with my nexus 5x when i unlocked the bootloader with the tool the device has to reboot but everytime i reboot i have to unlock my bootloader again the root works fine but the bootloader keeps getting locked everytime ... problem is that i messed with the boot img in order to disable forced encryption and now i can't flash stock because during the flashing the bootloader has to reboot and gets locked which make the flashing fails ... am on android nougat 7.0 if that matter and if someone have the 6.0.1 (mtc20k) boot image for noforce encrypte please share with me and thanks
You can update manually by flashing the different parts separately using fastboot commands. That way you can skip rebooting after flashing bootloadet

I have the same problem. Bootloader gets relocked every time i reboot. Could not install cm14.1, i just get i bootloop (tried with latest twrp and vendor). Went back to stock with the seperate fastboot commands. It works but really annoying that the bootloader wont stay locked. It worked before i sent the phone to service (emmc problem) and got the motherboard changed. Is there a problem with the bootloader or is it a hardware problem?
Sounds like a HW problem, RMA it again.

Yeah thats what im thinking too. But what do i claim as the issue? Is a non unlockable bootloader a warranty issue? Bought it unlocked from a store.

Ask Google (you can open up a chat with them for example on https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/4582729?hl=en&ref_topic=6023296#contact=1 or other links), for me it's a clear issue, you have the right to unlock the bootloader, however not sure how to demonstrate a problem if you bought it on a store...
All phones that come back from service do so in that state. Seems it's a decision from LG. If you go to bootloader you'll probably see that is says "no rpmb" right after secure boot. This is what is causing the issue, from what I know it is because a certain portion is not flashed on the motherboard replacement
The same happend to me, e-mailed the service center asking why they did this but they never reply

Invalid boot state when trying to unlock oem

Hi guys,
I bought a Moto Z Play recently with the gearbest reduction. The software is locked in retcn so cannot be upgrade after 6.0.1
I would like to flash CM or stock rom, not decide yet.
But I have a problem now. I receive the message "Invalid boot state" (see screen). I verified if OEM is unlock in developer options and it is. So I don't understand why I can't unlock oem.
Have you got any idea ?
Thanks
Same problem here!

Bricked After trying to relock bootloader

Hi guys, I have a G4 with V30 porting rom based on nougat.
I wanted to restore to stock everything or at least remove the "unlocked bootloader" screen at the startup to sell the phone with a better rom.
I've found a YouTube video and following it I tried to relock bootloader and now I have the corrupted screen at start. I'm so stupid, I know... but can you please help me to restore everything?
I can go to bootloader and download mode also seems working fine, what can I do?
Thanks in advance
