TWRP Installs but still booting to stock recovery - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

I'd like to flash Nougat on my pro 8.4 without rooting it so I'm installing TWRP via Odin based on these instructions: http://www.cyanogenmods.org/forums/topic/install-twrp-recovery-samsung-android-using-odin/. I can install TWRP but it still boots into the stock android recovery. It stays status is custom but I can't get into TWRP. Please help.

The first boot should be to TWRP, not to system.
Uncheck Auto Reboot in Odin, flash and then reboot to recovery manually using Power and Volume keys.

Bootloop after flashing TWRP 2.8.7.1

I was trying to root my device and was following a guide which instructed to flash TWRP, then rooting kernel and finally a ROM of my choice. After using Odin to flash TWRP the phone booted to the TWRP menu on which I chose to reboot the system and the phone got stuck on the black welcome to galaxy screen and it just kept on flashing that screen. I was able to boot to the load screen by holding power, home, volume up key and using Odin to flash the original image file.
Question is am I following the correct order to root this thing and if I am what could have gone wrong?

After the phone rebooted to the TWRP recovery you should have flashed the rooting kernel before rebooting
the phone in twrp. You need to go back into twrp recovery (you will need to odin flash twrp again).
Here is the xda link for Jovy23's stock rooted G928T kernel: (flash this in twrp recovery)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...ernel-stock-modified-kernel-touchwiz-t3229557
If you flash the wrong kernel the phone will be in a constant bootloop and or it will get stuck on the logo screen.
Good luck,
Have a Happy New Years.

is Rooting PD1 as simple as using Odin to flash the latest Version of TWRP?

I am running Stock PD1 unrooted.
Is Rooting PD1 as simple as using Odin to flash the latest Version of TWRP? Will doing this install the necessary files, or is there a different method for build?
UPDATE: I flashed the latest version TWRP using Odin. Everything worked, except that when I booting into bootloader there was no TWRP, it was stock android bootloader.
What did I do wrong?
Right after flashing TWRP, you need to boot into recovery to boot into TWRP, if not, the phone boots normally restoring the Stock Recovery. As soon as the phone reboots, after the flashing TWRP, hold the Volume Up + Home Button + Power until it boots into Recovery mode. Should boot up into TWRP. Once TWRP boots the first time it will overwrite the stock recovery and become the default recovery. As for Rooting the Note 4, the only safe method is using Systemless Root, I just flashed this custom stock rom and all is done for you. Here is the thread link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/development/rom-t3352832
Went to flash TWRP through ODIN and got a message- custom recovery blocked by A/L. Any solution please?
Same here. Get a FAIL with any TWRP flash. Same with Stock Rom Tar as well. Stuck with no ability to flash.

Help trying to install twrp H811 TMO Marsh.

Hello so I've been trying to install twrp, so then after I can root. However whenever I boot into twrp using ADB, then install the twrp image, then after it's "successful", and I try to boot into recovery, it doesn't boot into twrp. I've tried using the buttons and it just shows the LG reset your phone option, and I've said yes but it just reboots my phone. And when I use adb to reboot into recovery it just reboots my phone. Any ideas? Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/stock-h811-20i-images-kdz-flashable-t3308227

Loading into stock recovery after TWRP install

I recently bought an Oneplus 3 and wanted to root it, I succesfully unlocked my bootloader but when I try to flash TWRP and then load into the recovery mode the phone shows the oneplus logo for a few seconds and then turns itself off (even though ADB said it was succesfully flashed), when I reboot and go into recovery in brings me to the stock recovery.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
EDIT:
I previously had TWRP running on my Oneplus 3, at the first boot of TWRP I selected 'Read Only' because I saw that in a video, I couldn't flash a certain rom thats why I tought I had to update my TWRP, does this have something to do with it?
Anyone?
Don't let it boot into system. Fastboot TWRP, unplug your phone, boot into recovery manually (power + volume down).
In TWRP, select reboot system and it will apply a fix before it reboots and it should stick then.

Can this be apply on other devices? Because I am having the same problem

This is universal: After flashing OEM ROM, don't boot into system. Boot into recovery, you will get into TWRP and from there boot into system. Or after flashing OEM ROM, flash Magisk and then boot into system.

Yeah, what he said. You can reboot recovery from TWRP and TWRP will patch it or you can flash magisk and it will do the work. What you can't do is flash TWRP and then boot directly to system because the stock recovery will be restored. Realistically do both, reboot recovery and then flash magisk for the win. I congratulate you on searching BTW, this thread is more than 2 years old. You may want to consider perusing the appropriate section for your other device. If it's a newer device with AB you will have some specific procedures to follow relating to that.

Can't get into recovery after using flashtool

I've got a rooted phone w/ an unlocked bootloader.
I've installed TWRP using ADB.
When I try to get into recovery (by using the physical buttons while booting) nothing happens. When I try to get into recovery via ADB, I get "no devices found"
What am I doing wrong?
Some background:
I flashed KK 4.4 using Flashtool.
Then I successfully installed and accessed TWRP. I tried and failed to install a custom ROM (AICP), but couldn't get it to sideload.
At that point, my device had no OS, so I re-flashed KK4.4, hoping that I could get the ADB sideload to work if I started from the beginning.
But now I'm back at the beginning, and I can't even get into recovery.
When I flash TWRP via fastboot, it successfully writes. But I can't boot into recovery.
Please help!
Disregard. I was able to access TWRP after I flashed the boot.img that came in the original platform tools.
It goes without saying that once I flash that boot.img, I'm unable to get into KK 4.4. I am, however, able to get back to TWRP, where hopefully I'll be able to flash a ROM.
Once again, however, I'm not able to flash AICP. It fails every single time.

You can try to pull boot img from aicp and flash it in two, then try to flash the rom, but not sure. You may have to flash LP first, just use a prf. Also, if you use Emma to update bootloader, (if you didn't already), then you can use real recovery, (twrp 3+), and it should work.

I just finished process myself, just to test, and works fine-
1. Download Emma
2. Download twrp3
3. Download Kingroot
4. Download Rashr
Plug phone into computer in flash mode after starting Emma, and you'll see option to flash newest fw. After flashing, restart and install Kingroot. After rooting, use Rashr to flash twrp3. Then power off, and hold power and volume down to enter recovery.

THANK YOU! I'm not sure what prf or Emma are, but I'll find out on my own.
Is there any way to do this that doesn't involve KingRoot? The whole "sends your info to a Chinese IP" aspect of KingRoot creeps me out.

two ways:
1) after you install the rom using EMMA connect the phone in fastboot mode and flash Advanced Kernel 18.1. it comes with its own twrp recovery. then boot to recovery and flash SuperSU zip.
2) after you install the rom using EMMA connect the phone in fastboot mode and flash TWRP recovery, then boot to recovery and flash SuperSU zip.

Thank you!!! Eager to try these.
Is SuperSU zip secure? Do we know that it's not Chinese malware?

I unlocked bootloader, have installed TWRP 3, then LineageOS through TWRP. But now i can't access recovery (twrp).

-pink light
-immediately i press volume up (volume down doesn't do anything)
-orange light shows for a second
-phone restarts normally

Haven't tried Lineage yet, but with CM, they had their own recovery which had to be overwritten after flash. Boot up, install Rashr, flash TWRP IMG with Rashr, then try again.
Also, real recovery is a good idea, if you don't have it yet. You need to flash stock with Sony Emma tool, then you have ta update, with real recovery capability.

Has Lineage been released for Amami? I don't see it on the downloads page.
