Verizon apps on O beta - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

I'm familiar with Verizon login and vzwapn but did you guys get vzw_multicast? I have a Verizon phone but have never put in a Verizon sim before.
Anyway, disabled all 3 and get much better battery life. I thought it was just poor signal in the work place causing battery drain in standby but disabling the apps seem to have helped a lot.
If you have a Google pixel did these get installed when you installed Android O?

They are in the google factory image. Sprint has a few in there too as do other carriers.

I've seen 2 of them before but after installing O, the VZW multicast reared it's ugly head under running services. Are you on android O? do you have it running on your phone?

I have it on N. But I am running the VZ image on a Google phone as I am on VZ. So google added it to O permanently or just added it the Beta.

If you're on Sprint, I think they are having some problems with Google Wallet that they're working on. Might want to call customer service and see what's going on?
I'm having this problem too. Praying it's not this:

Anyone else having this problem?
Seems to be working just fine for me... I just fresh installed the latest skankwich.

I was having that same issue earlier this evening. It happened after I restored my stock backup with which I have used Wallet successfully several times, and has always worked fine. I am on T-Mobile U.S. w/ Takju. Works fine now.
I don't have an old backup with Wallet working anymore since I didn't notice this till recently. I think I'm in the group with the broken NFC chip now. Guess I'll give Skankwich a shot
Nah, fix permission in CWM and report back.
You din't break your Secure Element.

Would it be possible to have a contextually aware mod for the S3?

The new Moto X is said to have contextually aware abilities so you can say 'okay google' anytime and it will listen to what you say. It would be similar to Google Glass.
I was wondering if it would be possible to get something like this for the S3?
Isn't that Google now? Which our devices already have? That's the command phrase.

Yes, but with this you don't have to even touch the phone to activate Google now.

. Take note of the only option with the check... Don't know if anybody would want the battery drain associated with your phone constantly listening every time your screen is on so honestly I don't see anybody putting any effort into this...
Hm I wonder if having it always listening is going to drain the battery on the Moto X.
It depends how they implement it...if it's like wifi connections with the constant polling, then yes.

If you mean what I'm showing in my picture, then don't worry. Your data isn't being used along with your WiFi and this is a known phenomenon (I mean, it's obviously happening to me too). No one has really been able to figure out exactly why it happens (to my knowledge).

I get it, too. Happens a couple times a week around the same time in the evenings. Doesn't seem to affect my data usage.
The AT&T visual voice mail app does this when you use it. It seems to always get its data from the cell network even when wifi is available. It's possible that other AT&T apps do likewise.

This isn't the cause because I've had Visual Voicemail disabled since updating to 5.1.1.

I looked but no updates available
I updated Google connectivity application, but I had the same problem,
Only connecting 5ghz not 2.4ghz
How I can fix this
I got an updated Verizon Pixel. Xl with bootloader locked
It's on Oreo 8.1.0
I am in real trouble ?
I ended up going into the router settings and changing from WEP to WPA and it worked after that. Same as my coworkers Nexus 5x
Thanks
Thanks dear, This method also worked for my google pixel XL running on Oreo 8.0.
If you are on Verizon, I may just found the problem! For the past several months I too have had no ability to connect to WiFi without major problems. It would connect then disconnect over and over until I would turn off wifi. I just found Verizon security and protect app and disabled the WiFi security!!!! NOW PROBLEM FIXED!!!! Hope this helps!!!

Question Universal GMS Doze Module

Anyone tried it on A12 yet? Does it still bring any battery saving benefits?
Link:
...for some reason I can't paste a Link here via Android Chrome :S
I've had it installed and didn't really notice any difference. Removed module after a couple days

I installed it. To be honest haven't really focused on battery, so couldn't tell u if it's helping or not. I always have a charger nearby, so never really have to be paranoid of it making it x number of hours.
On a side note, I know there were issues where it would not work properly unless you have the find my device service turned off. So may need to do that as well to take advantage of what this module brings.
