Original Phone APK - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

Hi,
I was screwing around the other day and without realising, deleted the Phone app
When I restarted my phone, I got into a bootloop (it went from the SAMSUNG animation to the 'Optimizing apps' screen, and back to the SAMSUNG animation)
I tried installing an old one that I found on APKMirror, which booted, but 'com.android.phone' keeps crashing and I can't do anything!
So is anybody able to upload the original Phone APK from their phone? I've got an A3, but I'm sure one from an A5/7 would work the same.
If anybody could, they'd be a lifesaver!
TIA,
Ben

Well the euphoria was short lived. I installed it by putting it in /system/app and doing 'chmod 644' on it, but it still keeps crashing and I still have no SIM card...
Does it need to be installed somewhere special? priv-app?
Where did you pull the apk from Chris.nl?

I used SD-Maid to export the apk. Don't know it's original location.
I think /system/priv-app/TeleService/ but maybe you should reflash stock again. Just freeze apps (first few days) instead of deleting them to prefent mayor issues like this. I'm sorry.

[Q] Google services framework HELP!!!

I consider myself to be somewhat intelligent, mostly when it comes to being able to read, write, and search for things on the internet. I have searched these forums and others and only found two references to this question with no answers. Forgive me if my self inflated ego of being able to find answers online is misplaced.
When I try to install the Google services framework (googleservicesframework.apk) on my kindle fire I get the message "application not installed". What am I doing wrong? How do I install this? I am trying to install google apps, namely gmail. After I got the "application not installed" I did reset the device and install the gmail.apk but to no avail, the app would not even open.
I am running 6.2.2 and have recently rooted my kindle and have superuser access. I understand that root is not necessary to install google services framework but I did it nonetheless in hopes that it would help (which it has not).
I know others have had this problem, but I have not found any advice anywhere on this, please help!!! Thanks!
if you'r rooted and put the googleservicesframework.apk in /system/app then there is no need to install it (yes it will fail) - just restart the kf - you'll see it running ...
Thanks for the response! After pasting the googleservicesframework.apk to /system/app and restarting I do not see the application under "running applications", in fact I didnt even see it under "all applications". I know you said there was no need to install the app, but after I didnt see it running I tried to install it anyway then reset, it didnt help.
Its probably good to mention that ive tried this with multiple apks, ive read that there are different ones although I cant seem to tell which ones are different.
Any other advice??
This is the .apk I used on both my KF and my wife's KF. In fact I just installed it on hers last night. Hopefully it works for you.
It Worked!! It must have just been the difference in the apk. Thanks so much for the help guys!
Argh. Sorry all, having searched everywhere and found this thread I did what you said and STILL get Application Not Installed.
Can anyone offer me advice? Much appreciated if so.
look at post #2 !
This worked for me also
Thanks. I was having the same problem with my Kindle and this version worked for me also.

Thank you so much! I had a link to an older apk that did not work correctly. With that apk and "Any Cut", I was able to create a shortcut to "Accounts and sync" to get my gmail contacts and mail syncing properly.

When You move it to the kindle rename the File with a File explorer. Just remove the .zip extension and replace it with .apk. It should then install properly....Mine did.

Yeah, it is simple. Take your Kindle and smash it with a hammer and go by a Nook. Seriously this thing is the biggest pain in the A$$. I have got it to work only to have it shut down and not recognize the framework again. My Nook was so much easier to root and the Nexus 7 is even better, you don't have to root it.
**** Kindle and Nook to a lesser extent.
Ichigo,
The problem is when the framework is not working the Google Play Store crashes. None of my Android phones, my nook, or my nexus ever had such difficulty. The Nexus was nice because it didn't need any root.
Ichigo said:
Did you read the spoiler?
Anyways, that would be an OS problem. You could always just install a different ROM. Besides, I was on stock and had the framework work fine. As long as you have the current version and had the permissions set to rw-r-r, it should work.

Yes, I read the spoiler.
No, I installed several different roms on both CM and TEAMWIN attempting every combination I could think of. Nothing seemed to work. Finally I gave it to my little girl as a reader and installed all the apps with APK files because I couldn't get the play store to not crash. My wife was ready to kill me I was wasting so much time with the thing. It was a free Kindle, so it wasn't that big of a deal.At least now my daughter can't go on and download any app she wants, I have control over that.

So i moved it to system/app using Root Explorer install and reboot.
Now works - thanks!

[Fix]Unknown error code during application install: "-24"

I don't know the cause. I have noticed that it has happened on different devices, there have been assumptions if it's because of a specific kernel or rom, although it may be, I beg to differ. I feel it is happening during the Android Upgrading Apps # of # process.
I noticed that this error pops up on most of the apps that I had installed, but are not there after my update. So far with me, it happened only to my paid apps, but not all of them.
When the app disappears, android thinks it's missing, but some files think it is still installed.
Regularly when you install an app over itself, there is a notice telling you that the application info will remain. That's where the problem lies once an app mysteriously disappears. Because part of it is still installed.
Go to
/data/data/
and search for your
com.application-address.whatever-it-may-be
Some of them you can tell what they are just by the names, the others, google-em.
If you wish to keep the information that it contains for the app, I recommend making a copy of it first.:good:
Delete it
Install the application, it'll work, trust me. :fingers-crossed:
Now replace it with your copy.
Done.
Stop factoring resetting if you don't want to. Of course, if you have a lot missing, it might be better. :crying:
If someone can automate this process by making something check the com.address to installed apps, that would be awesome. :highfive:
This totally worked. Thanks bro!
I was setting up my Nexus 4, and this was Tune In Radio Pro was the last app and wouldn't install, I kept getting that stupid -24 error.
Saved me from doing a factory reset!
Works!

I'm also stuck. I was able to go to sdcard/data, but there is no second /data folder.
I have this issue with Swiftkey and there is no 'data/data/' folder, checked both root and sdcard and hidden files are shown ...
Edit: Configured ES File Explorer to mount partition as writable and gave root access -> files were there now and deleting the one with Swiftkey solved my problem.
Thx
Working!
Thanx, it worked for me too!

Anyone one you know anything about android..!?!?!?!
U need to root first...!!!
Worked for me as well.
You need to use something like ES File Browser with Root access to get to /Data/Data
I'm running into this issue with a bunch of apps that got lost when flashing a newer CM10.1 nightly. I can't access those folders in data/data since ES File Manager is one of the apps that gets this error!
Is there any other way to fix this? I can't install anything, not even Chrome :crying:
It's worked for me, too!
Someone maybe didn't understand the meaning of the thread creater. You must have the root access. Then, open Root Explore and go to "data/data" NOT "sdcard/data/data"

In case it might help someone else I thought I'd pass along what I just did to fix the problem. I booted into recovery and found the com.speed.... file for root explorer that way and deleted it and then rebooted. I then was able to load and install root explorer from the play store and now I can sit back and delete all the rest of the apps that won't install correctly...
I guess I could have done it from recovery also but I forgot to write them all down before I rebooted!

[Q] Need CalendarProvider apk please

Before I state the problem, I would like to say this is self inflicted and I should have been more careful. But hindsight is 20/20.
I recently got an M8. Rooted, TWRPd it, and deleted a bunch of bloatware (or so I thought) using the TWRP File Manager. In the process, I think I deleted the Calendar Provider service apk. Now my calendar doesnt work and I randomly get this message your Exchange service has stopped unexpectedly eventhough, my exchange email is coming through.
I was a dummy and didnt do a backup thinking I am only deleting a bunch of unwanted stuff. What can I do now. I tried downloading some version of this SecCalendarProvider.apk from the internet and put it in the system/apps folder but nothing has changed. I dont think it even got started.
Can someone please provide me with a copy of the CalendarProvider.apk? I am not sure if its called HTCCalendarProvider.apk or SecCalendarProvider.apk.
Thanks.

.nomedia files keep being regenerated

Hello everyone!
With my M8 and a hanfdul of ROMs (even stock ROM IIRC) I keep getting .nomedia files created all over the place on the SD, even in the default Camera folder... I delete them, then at some seemingly random point they're back. As a result I can't play music from the SD card and, using Quickpic I have to "show hidden" in order to access my photos.
Is there any way I can find what creates them? Anyone's got an inkling as to what's going on? I've gone through a few hard resets up to now, different ROMs as I've said (currently on ARHD) and the issue is a constant!
Thanks!

Tha somehow points to a "privacy" or "hide my files" app that you installed and that is set improperly. Are you sure that you don't have such an app, maybe installed automatically after hard reset from playstore by synchronisation or by some backup program?
Yes, I'm sure I don't have one, because I never installed one... Good thinking though.
The automatic creation of nomedia files is normal. It stops your gallery app from displaying all system files that are pictures.

Seems like a rare issue unique to what you installed or how you set up your device.
If I were you I would reinstall your rom from scratch (not restored from any backup), and use your device for a couple of days without installing any additional apps. After confirming the nomedia is absent, then slowly reinstall apps one by one until you see the problem reoccurring.
Sorry I have no better advices. May be others will.

Thanks, man, that's what I have been thinking for a while now, but I wanted to avoid it of course, hence why I'm asking how to troubleshoot it (and not "who is the culprit").
Funny thing is I don't run anything strange, right now Titanium (premium) and LP are the most system-"intensive" apps I have... And the problem used to exist with KK as it does with LP now!
Thanks again anyhow

Cannot save screenshot, try again

has anyone else run into this? i've found threads from various other phones on this, but none of the fixes ive tried have worked - delete /sdcard/pictures folder, clear data for quickmemo+, nada
as soon as i take a screenshot, the notification "saving screnshot" is stuck in my panel and cannot be swiped away. the screenshot actually saves, but a toast message comes up saying "Cannot save screenshot, try again".

I have this issue too. It's definately a systemui issue as Force closing System UI clears the notification.
It started happening to me after root, so guessing it's something to do with the system ui in that image.

holy ****, good call. i did disable cliptray. i guess screenshot on this stupid ROM writes the screenshot directly to the cliptray, so when its disabled, it cant write it to the cliptray, and thus the persistent saving notification..
There is a nice app which should be used with option B, this preserves screenshot funtionallity.
