Do I have to update the image more than once? - LineageOS Questions & Answers

My first ever OS change was about 3 weeks ago. I've been doing periodic nightly updates over the air.
Do I have to regularly install a new image/ROM through TWRP, like I did before I flashed Lineage to my phone? Or is that a once and done type of deal?

[Q] Long time un-updated N7

Hello,
Acquired a used nexus 7 today, according to the previous owner its only a few months old (in perfect condition).
the tablet had not seemed to have received a single update performed and was running 4.3 when I got it,
I signed into my account and was immediately prompted to download and install 4.4.2 which I did, then 4.4.3 then 4.4.4.
since then (a few hours ago) nothing, no sign of 5.0, is there a period of time you need to be running 4.4 while connected before 5.0 becomes available ?
or by now in January if it has not come OTA then it wont and has to be done manually ?
Never side-loaded and prefer not to if its going to show up in the next few days..
thanks
If you don't want to wait, install it manually. Or you can sit and wait for it, not knowing when it'll arrive. Why are you against sideloading? It doesn't even require sideloading to install.

Google Apps will not show up after flashing any Rom

I have a T-700
I don't use this tablet much at all, so it's been sitting for around 4 or 5 months with no use. I had Official CM 12.1 installed on it and looked around and saw some 6.0 roms I wanted to try. I downloaded the AOSP 6.0 rom along with the nano Gapps package from opengapps.. After flashing the newest Firmware and TWRP in Odin, I wiped the device and installed the ROM+Gapps+SuperSU. Tablet booted up right to the home screen with no Gapps or setup wizard.
I wiped the device again, redownloaded all the files I was using and tried again. Same result. No Gapps or setup wizard.
After this I tried several other 6.0 and 5.1 roms with around 10 different Gapps packages from different dates and websites. Same result every time. Then I decided to reflash the newest Firmware and TWRP once again in Odin. Same result time and time again, regardless of the ROM or Gapps package.
What is happening to my tablet? I've never once experienced this in the 2 years owning it. I even flashed the old ROM and Gapps files I used over a year ago and it still boots up with no way to sign into my google account or get into the play store. I've tried just about everything. People say OpenGapps is having problems right now, but even packages from other sites are having the exact same effect.

[Q] Is there a new update?

Hi all. At 4:20 AM PDT (the notification sys 8:20AM for some reason) this morning (June 12) my Note 4 buzzed and woke up and let me know there was a software update available. Any idea what this is?
I didn't install the small security update last month yet, is this just that update trying to be more forceful (the notification will not go away)? Or is it a new update?
Try it, and let us know what it is !
I didn't install last month's security update myself for the fear of losing that slim chance of an unlocked bootloader and root..lol
I haven't received a notification about an update this month..would you happen to have a description of the update?
Well, the notification wasn't going away and I accidentally hit continue and it rebooted and installed whatever it was.
Took it's sweet time installing and then optimizing apps, and as far as I'm aware nothing changed. Same baseband, same kernel, same build number (LMY47X.N910AUCU2DOI3) according to About Device.
Also my phone is starting to show me the same annoying screen that started appearing when the security update came out saying to connect to wifi to download another update (whatever update was installed today, it downloaded itself via mobile, not wifi).
So I am rather confused as to what the 'update' I installed was.

OnePlus 3T Midnight Black Edition & Lineage OS

I have been running Lineage OS on my OP3TMBE since the April 20th edition.
I am using TWRP 3.1.1-2 and Magisk 13.3.
Up to the Lineage OS 14.1-20170721-NIGHTLY-oneplus3 update, things have been working fine with each and every update.
Once I installed the above update, I lost my home button but it was remedied by installing the Open Beta 11 Firmware/Modem software from OnePlus.
I tried to install the Lineage OS 14.1-20170728-NIGHTLY-oneplus3 update and all hell breaks loose.
Google services continually crashes.
Play Store starts and just sits at the refresh screen.
I can't get any application to run for more then a few seconds.
I have had to revert to the Lineage OS 14.1-20170721-NIGHTLY-oneplus3 image I have backed up in TWRP in order to get my phone running again.
Is there something I am missing to go forward with this new nightly ???
Thanks,
Pete...
Oneplus 3T lineage 17 Bluetooth issue
I have fresh install of lineage 17 and all has been great other than not being able to hear anything phone ringing through any of my Bluetooth devices and the phone does a short start to the tone but ends it after one second or so. This is boggling my mind as to what is the problem. I've reset the Bluetooth and cleared the cash but nothing has worked. Please help me ?

After the recent update to Android 11 and OneUI 3.1 random reboot loop happenning

HI,
I had been using the phone for the past 1 year. It was working fine. But, for past couple of months after the recent updates, everything went haywire.
I downloaded the last Android 10 ROM from sammobile and flashed it, it did not help too.
I am at a loss , can anyone please suggest anything.
Do I really need to flash the stack ROM , is that the only option I have ?
